Evil Twin Brewing NYC - DUMBO

I love visiting breweries when on vacation and was already familiar with Evil Twin, so this was a fun stop after running around the DUMBO flea market. More of a coffee shop vibe than a brewery, this is a super chill place to grab a pint or flight. There were a good amount of options on tap, with both collaboration and Evil Twin solo brews. Got a flight, and my personal fave was I Only Wear Black 365 days of The Year. The hazy IPA was also delightfully hoppy. They’ve also got a collaboration lager with purple rice what is worth checking out as well. Crisp and refreshing. Definitely worth a visit when in the area.

Stumbled upon this brewery after a long stroll on the Brooklyn bridge and we're glad we did. It's exactly what we needed on the hot day that it was. Excellent selection of beers. Favourites were #4 and #19. #4 is milkshake IPA and unlike anything I've tasted before. It's sweet and really very good. #19 is a triple IPA, also very good. The cocoa cream ale was decent. #18 was also good. The staff and service were good.

It’s a pretty bare bone brewery but I like it cause it’s just that. It’s also a dog-friendly brewery which was great since I was able to bring my puppy after a walk on the brooklyn bridge. There’s a few picnic tables outside but we sat inside and shared a flight. Our favorite was the Italian Pilsner which we bought a 4-pack of. Love how unique the beer options are.

Impressed to find this place on a recent walk over the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan. Beers all looked great and we loved the different names. The welcome was a bit lacking and the bar staff didn’t seem to care less whether we were there or not. The place feels a bit clinical and bare. Wouldn’t take much to make it spectacular.

Evil Twin Brewing in DUMBO is a spacious and bright spot with a fantastic vibe. They offer a wide variety of options, so there’s something for every beer lover here. Their electronic menu screen is both interesting and eye-catching, making it easy to see what’s available. Service is quick, and the whole place is clean, with plenty of indoor seating. There are also some outdoor seats, which is a nice touch for a sunny day. Overall, it’s a great place to hang out in such a beautiful area like DUMBO—definitely worth a visit if you’re in the neighborhood!

Love this place (except on days we don't want to pay for parking). Fruited Sours, Fruited Gose, Fruited Pastry Sours, Barrel Aged Stouts, Pastry Stouts, Imperial Double Pasty Stouts, even the occasional Fruityed IPA... If it's sweet and blasted with flavor I'm happy & if there's "pastry" in the title I'm pretty much in love. Highly recommend, check menu online & listing on untapped, & consider the structure on the corner if you're carrying put 4 packs or crowlers.

Very nice taproom of Evil Twin. Their IPAs are no joke. It packs so much alcohol potency, from most popular IPA (sold out), double, triple, and quadruple! I got the double IPA, “signals in New York are just rough guidelines.” I applied it to my driving home. (Cannot comment on food because I didn’t get any)

We had such an amazing time with Kaitlyn and Maddie (i don’t know how to spell their names). It was an unusually quiet night but these ladies made our night so much fun! The beer was also amazing and we hope to return when we come back to NYC!

Recommend! Pros: Because it's DUMBO there are locals and tourists mixing up, there is a solid beer list of course but also the cutest frozen mixed drinks sold in multiple sizes, it's both really close to the "selfie street" but one block back so it retains some feeling of normalness Cons: The space is kind of cafeteria-like, which is fine but not my preference and I won't be chilling with the bartenders anytime soon, but they get the job done!

I came here with a friend on a Tuesday night. It wasn't super busy. I really liked the vibe of the tap room; the space was really warm (both in tone and temperature-wise, I don't think they had the A/C on). I had one of the sours and it was almost like drinking a smoothie.

Big fan of Evil Twin beer so was excited to try out their other taproom in Dumbo. I'm partial to IPAs so enjoyed the IPA options, of which there are many. I had never had a QIPA before, so that was great. The space can be a bit overwhelming as when we went it was super busy. The bartenders were all really attentive and super nice, however, so the crowd didn't make such a difference. Would definitely come back to try the other IPAs! The only downfall of the space is the bathroom. There are two bathrooms for the entire place and there was consistently a pretty substantial line for this.

I discovered Evil Twin Brewing while strolling through the streets and decided to drop in. The place was impeccably clean and spacious, which made it feel relaxed and uncrowded. They also had a section for pastries and coffee, which one of my friends tried. I ordered the Sour Bikini, while my friends had the Passion Fruit and Pineapple Beer and the Greenhouse Nordic. All of the beers were fantastic. The staff was incredibly friendly and helped me select the perfect beer for my taste. With both indoor and outdoor seating options, they were quick with our orders and attentive throughout. I highly recommend checking it out.

Love this spot!! I came in for one bc I needed to rest my feet. The bartender recommended the "Make It Hopped" and let me sample it first. It tasted great so I ordered a 16oz glass. This place has a great vibe. It had a lot of customers in the middle of a saturday afternoon but we were able to get the last 2 bar seats. Everyone was friendly and the bar service was fast. I wanted to stay for more than one but I had places to be. Will def be back when I'm in the area.

I don't do double, triple, and quadruple IPAs that seemed to dominate the menu, so ordered this, but prefer a New England style IPA. Definitely a bit more of a sleeker vibe in this place than I typically expect in a brewery.

Great selection of beer in Dumbo tap room. It's no frills here. But the service was friendly and fast. The beer selection was vast and varied. If you are in the area and need a beer, check then out!

Evil Twin Brewing NYC is a craft brewery that opened in Queens, New York in 2019. It was founded by Danish brewer Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø. Evil Twin Brewing was initially founded as a global beer brand and gypsy brewery operation in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2010. A former schoolteacher, Jeppe became an avid craft beer aficionado in 1997 and by 2005 he had opened his bottle shop Ølbutikken. His reputation (and that of his work) soon grew and by 2010 he decided to open his own brewery. Jeppe chose the name "Evil Twin" as a reference to himself being the "evil twin" brother of Mikkeller Brewery founder Mikkel Borg Bjergsø. By 2012, Jeppe and his family had relocated to Brooklyn, New York and Evil Twin set up their headquarters there. Although there wasn't a physical brewery, Jeppe would enlist the help of 10 established production breweries (such as Two Roads Brewing Company (Stratford, CT), Westbrook Brewing Company (Mt Pleasant, SC) and Twelve Percent Beer Project (North Haven, CT) to brew and distribute his beer on a larger scale. For a number of years, Jeppe was also the co-owner of the popular Brooklyn craft beer bar Tørst: one of the first bars to carry Evil Twin. The popularity of the gypsy brewery soon took off on a global scale. Jeppe eventually decided to open a physical brewing space in the Ridgewood section of Queens. The brewery opened in January 2019 and the adjoining taproom (designed to resemble a greenhouse) opened the following October. Although the global gypsy brewery operation still continues, the Ridgewood operation exclusively produces small one-off batches like any other small local brewery. A secondary taproom opened in Brooklyn's DUMBO neighborhood in June 2021. I visited Evil Twin's DUMBO Taproom this past summer while I was cycling around NYC. I was trying out a number of Brooklyn breweries and pizzerias and this was my second stop of the day. They are easily one of my Top 10 favorite breweries and have been since I had a draught pour of "Even More Jesus" (Imperial Stout) at a craft beer bar in 2013. I also worked as a barback at Two Roads Brewing from 2014-15, and Jeppe would frequently stop by to brew beer on their brew system. The DUMBO taproom was quite nice. It's set up differently from the Ridgewood location (which I visited a month earlier) and I like how both taprooms have their own unique charm. I also really liked the DUMBO neighborhood in general. I ordered a flight of four samples including "Even More Hydra" (Smoothie Sour - collaboration with Mortalis Brewing), "The Nomadic Approach To Reinventing The Wheel" (Double IPA - collaboration with Root + Branch Brewing), "OMG How Funny Is This. Manhattan Has A Street Named After Our Hometown Houston" (Triple IPA), and "King Marlon" (Quadruple IPA). Not surprising to me, every beer was fantastic! I had a blast at Evil Twin's DUMBO taproom and I look forward to returning!

Great craft brewery just a few steps away from the Brooklyn Bridge Park! The service was quick and friendly. There's plenty of indoor seating and the bathrooms were clean. I had a cider (can't remember which) and one of their IPA milkshakes which left me pleasantly surprised. Solid location with a nice selection and attentive staff!

Came over to the DUMBO and had several great beers but the best was the peanut butter beer. Was one of the best Peanut Butter Beers I have had, very creamy. Bartenders were great and the view was spectacular. Definitely stop by when you are in Brooklyn

Swung by Evil Twin with some friends after finishing up bar trivia in the neighborhood a block over. Brooklyn has such a vibrant brewery scene and Evil Twin holds up, boasting a wide selection of beers with a slight emphasis on IPAs and sours (as Brooklyn breweries are wont to do). The taproom had some creative flavors as well - shoutout to the incredibly balanced imperial DIPA and the lavender-yuzu seltzer available on draft. Excellent stop if you're traipsing through DUMBO.

I would say evil twin is my favorite brewery of all time. I am a HUGE fan of sours, and there's no shortage here! We tried about 9 in total - I don't remember the name, but my favorite was #2 (it was a deep red berry-forward sour) and another incredible one was the cookies and cream stout. Looking forward to returning when they rotate their menu!

One of the best Beers I have ever tried, While Visiting Financial district New York some of us wanted to have coffee while some of us wanted to have beer and we quickly found this highly rated Brewery that brew Beer and Coffee. I am from Sothern California which very many breweries to try but after we tasted few beers here, we felt like we never tasted like these before. We tried their Greenhouse Experimental Lager Series, Milkshake IPA, Freezer Fresh Sundae - ROCKY ROAD. Their beer selection is top notch and a must try when you are in the New York Financial District.

It was so good! A great selection of different beers, ciders, and frozen cocktails. The vibe was super low key with plenty of space around the bar and at tables. Everyone was super helpful with questions.

Don't remember what I got here but tried just about everything if that says anything! Some of the beers are very bitter, others taste like literal juice. I remember the hells bock being yummy. I didn't love the "I instantly get annoyed by any hybrid food combination" it was a triple IPA. I did love the ryste ryste milkshake ipa. The et stay home 19 tasted like orange juice if I remember correctly and the make it fruity chocolate dipped strawberry was more fruity than chocolatey at all. Would 100% come back. Really good vibes, open and bright and awesome !!

Most of the Evil Twin cans we get out west are smoothies which aren't my favorite style of beer, but I was still really excited to check out one of their taprooms. We arrived around 2PM on a Saturday afternoon and this place was packed. It took a little work to break through the crowd and order at the bar, but we were able to get beers in our hands within 5 minutes of entering. We both got flights of a variety of tasters as we wanted to try a handful of their styles. The beers ranged from average to good for us and although enjoyable, definitely weren't the best we've had in New York. We may have enjoyed our drinks a bit more if we were able to sit, but the place was so crowded we ended up awkwardly standing with our slippery beer glasses on the provided metal trays which made for a less than optimal drinking experience. It's a nice taproom and probably a bit more enjoyable during non-peak hours but we still had a nice time. It's NYC so cramped spaces are to be expected and this is actually a decent-sized taproom, but there isn't a huge reason for us to want to come back to this one any time soon.

Came here the other night for the first time. Been to the Ridgewood location several times. The vibe is more put together than most industrial looking breweries, but its a really chill spot with the same evil twin beer you'd expect. Staff is attentive and great. You can get 4oz pours of every beer, even though the menu doesn't say that. Build your own flight! The electronic menu is cool. Even shows both breweries for collab beers. You don't have a lot of choose from for breweries in/near DUMBO, but you can't go wrong going here.

After having a quick bite, we decided to find a brewery. Evil Twin is a spacious spot. Music volume is perfect... you can enjoy the tuned AND also have a good conversation. The blueberry and raspberry Sour IPA (7%) was delicious. My husband, John, enjoyed his Greenhouse Märzen (5%) and Coconut State of Mind (DDH DIPA 88%)

Great beers and a wide selection to boot. They also have coffee which is great as well. A terrific spot in DUMBO to visit and have some brews!

After grabbing a slice of pizza, popped into this brewery near the Manhattan Bridge. It's tucked away so easy to miss but if you find it, you'll notice the ample space and bevy of options for a brewery lover and beer connoisseur. I order a couple of IPAs which tasted fresh and flavorful. The service was awesome, lots of hip bartenders who are ready to serve.

Nice brewery in the dumbo area. Number of good options. The DIPA Ice Cream Truck was tasty. Staff could be a little friendlier.

I love Evil Twin because they always have many sours, including smoothie style sours on tap. And you can get a flight which is key because it's hard for me to drink several of these - the beers are really intense in flavor and heavy so I usually get a flight and then 1 regular sized beer. If you don't like sours, they have like 20 or so taps with all sorts of options as well as frozen cocktails and seltzers. The bartenders are always super attentive and kind. This location is fun- its all indoors (no patio seating) which is not surprising given the location. Not a bad thing, just a different vibe from the original location in Ridgewood and other breweries. It can get very crowded, loud, and there seems to always be a long line for the bathroom (2 gender neutral bathrooms) I find myself here pretty much every time I'm in DUMBO!

I was in Brooklyn for the day and wanted to check out a brewery or two. There are many in the area but this one is close to the base of the bridge. When I looked online this brewery had a great selection and looked super earthy and cute with all the the plants. I had to take off a star because most of their plants were dying or already dead. The beer board also reminded me of the stock market which didn't fit in with the vibe of the place. Aside from all the dead plants the beer was awesome. They even had cool merchandise and hats. They had cocktails, frozen beer, and several drafts available in 3 different size pours. There were a ton of wheat beers available and the staff was really cool. Defenitly a place to check out!

Evil Twin is an adorable little brewery, cleverly situated right in the heart of DUMBO. This ain't no tourist trap, though - their beer is quality!! You've got so many types of beers to choose from, including a milkshake IPA that I sprung for (Fresh Feet). It tasted like a creamsicle - full of flavor and super smooth. Exactly what I was after on a hot day. Service at the bar was helpful and friendly with no frills. The bartenders offered suggestions and were eager to help. I didn't feel pressured to order more drinks. I love the decor of this place, too. It gives modern coffee shop while also having its own personality with the digital panels for the beer selection. I'll absolutely be back here, to try a flight! Until then, I'll check out the Ridgewood location since it's closer to me. Hopefully I can grab some beer to go as well!

The ticker tap board is guaranteed to capture your attention upon first walking into this sizeable tap room. You'll count 20 taps actively flowing -- amazing right? Except they were out of most offerings when inquired! Hard to believe that they couldn't just easily update the digital ticker board, but I digress. You'll encounter plenty of smoothie style sours here as well as their hard seltzers. I don't think either are beer but, once again, I fall into the habit of digression. Happy to see some DDH/ TDH IPA's, however, they do lean on the sweeter side. Dare I say they have a slick enough mouth feel to remind me of a, dare I say, a smoothie!? Bad habits aside, the IPA's were sweet but layered with spiced floral notes. Splendid nose as well. As mentioned, the space is large, so much so that they are able to house a small cafe serving coffee on the side. Said cafe was sadly closed during our visit which was a shame as I have heard positive feedback about their coffee. Evil Twin is one of those OG breweries which has grown in size and has certainly changed with the times. Being in the hip DUMBO area, the brewery certainly blends in to its scenery well.

As a local, I'm pissed off that they they don't police their outside seating. Weeknights they have drunk tourists sitting out yelling and carousing till midnight. Families live in this neighborhood and kids that have school in the morning are kept awake by the shouting and toasting and general drunken idiocy. Other places in the neighborhood have signs saying respect the folks living here. They have nothing- no signs- and the staff never comes outside to settle down the loud drunk tourists. Evil Twin is a detriment to the neighborhood and is an irresponsible and lousy neighbor.

Good choice of beers. Excellent prices for Brooklyn location. Friendly service. Very comfortable ambiance.

We really loved stopping here while in Brooklyn! It wasn't too busy on a Friday afternoon such that we could easily find some seating, and service was friendly and helpful! The menu resembles stock tickers, and it is very expansive!! I can personally vouch for the cream ale and fruited sours, but I feel confident anyone can find something they enjoy!! They also have a good variety of pour options, and I loved being able to build my own flight with no limits on variations/amount. The aesthetic was also pleasing - Full of reclaimed wood and plants, so it is a lovely place to stop during an afternoon in Brooklyn! I will definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Hidden gem to me, stumbled upon after walking the bridge and looking for some AC. Got one of their sours and it was top notch. Bartenders were friendly. Sad I won't be able to get back to this place anytime soon.

Famous through the beer community- I had to stop by while visiting Brooklyn for the first time. It's almost right near the famous Brooklyn bridge picture so it's in a great location. Had the Sour IPA and was very blue raspberry candy tasting. It was definitely busy when we came. Love the menu style- stock market-esque.

My thankful Thursday review goes to Evil Twin! The boo and I were playing tourist in DUMBO on a Saturday night and drinking overpriced canned beers at a rooftop food hall nearby until I did a Yelp search for breweries and Evil Twin showed up. It was less than a five minute walk and really made our night! First impression: beautiful space, open, clean aesthetic, I think I saw plants, and the visual display of the beer selection is fun. Loved the selection and names; they're funky, interesting and overall great and so reasonably priced, especially for the area. We ordered just about every IPA on the menu and the smallest pour of that orange juice beer mimosa situation that just about everyone seems to order out of curiosity and nurse. We liked Evil Twin so much that we came back on a week night and it still had a good vibe. Things to note: Lucky enough to get bar seats each time but it seemed to get busy shortly after we arrived both times. No bar snacks but the bartender said we could bring in takeout, so popped into Time Out market and brought back our own bar bites.

I was so excited when I realized evil twin brewing opened a tap room in dumbo! I came here on a Saturday night with a few friends and I was so impressed. The employees are awesome, I was curious about one of the seltzer's and she gave my friends and I a sample. But she was patient and answered our questions, which was a huge plus. The drinks were so good, we ended up getting the mango jalapeño mezcal slushee , which had a nice little kick. For our second round we ended up getting a sampler of various seltzer's and IPAs. The drinks taste like straight up juice with a 9% alcohol content. So be warned, these drinks are strong and easy to drink. It can get pretty packed, but worth the visit! Stop by if you're in the area, worth it!

Came on Yelp because I want to give a huge shout out to Sam for incredible service, and I want the world to know how incredible me he was! I really appreciated all his patience and guidance and answering all my question. Super knowledgeable and made my experience at the brewery incredible.

Fantastic taproom with a great selection of beers. First time checking out Evil Twin Brewing taproom and drinking their beers. I would definitely return! I tried 4 of the IPAs on tap, all of which were great. If you don't want a full beer they offer 5oz pours. I'm a big believer in 5oz pours so you can try more beers and find your favorites! A good spot to spend a couple hours with friends or even solo. Highly recommend checking out this taproom.

The interior has a very open and modern style with a lot of room. Grab a table or take a seat at the bar. Super casual & their IPA, beer, cocktail selection is huge! Great place to cool off and catch a break from the sun!

Cannot stop raving about this place to all of my friends! I am not typically one to enjoy beers (preferring fruity drinks) so when I first heard about this brewery, I didn't have high expectations...but WOW. Just wow. This location just opened recently but the brewery had an original location in Queens where they are known for their sours. For non-beer aficionados, sours are a tart variety often with notes of citrus/other fruits. Since I was curious to try so many of the sour varieties, I ordered a flight of 4 oz pours. 3 of them were sour beers with notes of pineapple, blackberry peaches, passion fruit, and one of them was a hard seltzer with notes of watermelon. I loved all of them but unfortunately cannot remember their names.... On the second round, I was curious to try their frozen cocktail which contained prickly pear and tasted very refreshing on a 90 degree day. The atmosphere was so friendly and casual with amazing service by the bartenders dressed in Hawaiian shirts. Can't wait to come back to try more of their 20 varieties!

I was so excited to try this location as I'm a twin myself and love the Ridgewood location. I was so impressed with the variety of beer and happening vibe. I like how much bar seating there is. Highly recommend next time you're in DUMBO.

We really enjoyed our time at Evil Twin Brewing. We had some time to kill while in Brooklyn and we came across this brewery, and I am glad we did! Their beers were so unique and fun! They were also some of the best beers we have every had! They were truly incredible. I recommend this place to anyone if they are in the Brooklyn area, it will not disappoint!

Hard to find, worth the hunt. Lack of signage, and scaffolding from building construction, made this very difficult to find. We walked by this place 2x expecting to see fermentation tanks and tap handles, and only saw a coffee sign. Once we looked deeper into the space did we see the bar and beer list on the wall. This is a top quality brewery, right in Dumbo, just a quick walk from the Subway or Brooklyn bridge. Expertly crafted beers on a constant rotation on draft. Definitely stop by this place.

I think I've found my new favorite brewery. This location itself wasn't anything special other than the view of the Brooklyn bridge outside, but Evil Twin beers are superior to all others. I got a flight of all different styles and each one was better than the next. Would've stayed longer if it wasn't hotter than hell inside, no A/C? Wish we could've sat outside but the tables were full. Beer made it all worth it and I'll tell anyone who ever comes to Ny they have to visit evil twin.

Surprised to run into this place, as it's tucked away near the waterfront with little to no signage outside. Interior is clean and spacious, with tables/bar stools abound plus a giant digital draft list up top. Prices vary depending on style and size. Decided on a full pour of the ridiculously named "Pretty Stoked About Eating at my Favorite Restaurant I've Only Had Takeout From Until Now" ($8). Hazy color and rich hoppy finish that's good enough to sip on. Also tried a smaller pour of the Raspberry Sour Ale ($8), which is way sweeter than it needed to be (apparently this is a recurring problem for their sours). No food to speak of here, but they do allow outside food. Efficient taproom with plenty of bartenders and space to sit. Hit or miss on the beers.

The beer here is really good. Coming from California where we have breweries in clusters, what they have here at evil twin is something special. We were here during COVID times. We ended up having to sit outside. But it was ok we wanted to try them out. We actually had a really great experience overall !

I'd rate Evil Twin's tap room four and a half stars. The bartender were attentive and super accommodating. I had a rather unusual request and they were very kind to work with me. They have twenty beers on draft. The draft menu is very prominent and visible from almost anywhere. They have two gender neutral restrooms. Great for small and larger groups alike. Great beer with a very wide variety featuring many seasonal and year round staples. The tap room likely has one of the best locations in NYC. When you step outside, you're on main street with sn iconic view of the Manhattan Bridge.

Hi - the beer pour was bad, a lot of foam. The bar staff were disengaged. I would describe the atmosphere as disinterested and the staff had to be there but definitely not liking their job. Nobody was rude. The beer itself was also not great. The whit beer apple was gross. The Pilsner was pretty good. If the owners or investors read Yelp this is actually a helpful review. You need an on-site manager to coach up the staff.

I found the bartenders to be obnoxiously rude with a take it or leave it attitude. The beer is great but I would rather drink at home.
