Where to Eat in London This Weekend | London Restaurant Recommendations | Eater London

"A small Ugandan spot known for its generous, dangerous-for-the-wallet Sunday all-you-can-eat spread (there’s a penalty for wasting food) that unfolds like a feast of home cooking: chapattis, curries and roasted meats arrive in waves alongside creamy spinach-and-peanut served with matooki (mashed green banana), sweet fried plantain, spicy emolokong (cowfoot) and robust, salty tripe. Hearty beans in thick red gravy sit well with pilau scented with cloves, while ugali is perfect for mopping up sauces and pitchers of spicy chai complete the convivial, stick-to-your-ribs meal." - Feroz Gajia

Eating here never disappoints, the food is soo good. I like how they have stayed consistent with cooking very yummy Ugandan food. My photo isn't clear but trust me the food was very good.

The food was great. Loved their Jollof rice and the fish. The atmosphere was busy as it was a special birthday party so it was not a normal night there. But the staff were very nice.

We had such an amazing time here. Friendly staff, amazing East African food and lovely atmosphere. I would only recommend the matooke to be made in proper banana leaves (traditional way). Other than that it’s a such a lovely spot.

I decided to take a walk here to see the Sir Alfred Hitchcock tribute mural. I’d just watched The Birds the night before and felt inspired to check this out. The neighbouring petrol station is the site on which the famed film director was born in 1899. The mural itself is very cool and there are also bird silhouettes on the pavement outside. The restaurant itself looks great. I have had a look at the menu and the reviews, and have decided that I’ll be back to eat here. Updates to follow.

So incredibly happy to find this place. My Dad was Ugandan, and these are some of my favorite foods. We had the buffet and some Tusker beers. First of all, the chapati is absolutely perfect. We also enjoyed the matooke, posho, rice, chicken and various stews. Everything was absolutely delicious, and we were so full by the time we left. The service was great and everything was reasonably priced. I can’t wait to come back and try more dishes on the regular menu and to bring visiting family members here. The main menu has whole fried tilapia, samosas and more grilled meats.

We had a buffet lunch. It was nice! Friendly staff and all the cooks appears to be of African origin. We understood that it was authentic Ugandan food. At some point of time, there was a huge Indian community living in uganda. Therefore, some mild form of Indian cooking influence can be seen in dishes produced at this restaurant too.
