Ezell's Famous Chicken Review - Wallingford - Seattle - The Infatuation

"This Wallingford Ezell’s location is a walk-up counter, but it's located in the middle of what we would scientifically call a “fried chicken desert.” It’s the go-to place for nearby residents who require a two-piece dark meat combo, side of gizzards, sweet potato pie—or more realistically, all three." - Kayla Sager-Riley

Customer Reviews May Be Affected By Bad Weather - Eater Seattle

"Ezell’s Famous Chicken is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year with plans to open its 14th Seattle location in Federal Way this June. The company may also expand elsewhere in the U.S. soon. Additionally, Ezell’s is founding its own nonprofit, with funds recently going to a restorative justice program." - Gabe Guarente

Heads up that this is a pickup place with no seating. There's no ledge to stand and eat, either. I didn't know this going in. I was disappointed by the chicken. I got all dark meat, half original recipe and half spicy. It was really salty and the flavour just wasn't very impressive. I didn't taste much spiciness and it didn't taste very thoughtfully seasoned. Just a lot of salt. The chicken was very juicy and soft on the inside, though, which was good. I got Cajun fries and mashed potatoes with gravy. I thought the fries were good but the potatoes were bland and nothing to rave about. The serving sizes were decent (the fries in the picture are half eaten as I ate them one the way home). The two piece came with a bun as well which was slightly sweet and fluffy. The total for what I got: a two piece with a bun, cajun fries and mashed potatoes, was $15.08.

It's hard to go a week without having Ezell's chicken! My family and I have enjoyed it for decades and it's family owned and Seattle based. The quality of the food is consistently great! The chicken and the sides, as well as the rolls, are always good. I love that I can order chicken tenders half and half - half regular and half spicy. Keep up the good work!

Google
Disappointing Experience at Ezell’s on 45th I’ve always loved Ezell’s, but my last visit was deeply frustrating. My order was supposed to be ready at 5:17 PM, but when I arrived at 5:25, I had to wait until 5:45—almost 30 minutes past the promised time. What made it worse was watching staff take items from what was clearly my order to fulfill newer orders that came in after mine. The food itself was still good (that’s why I’ll return), but the service didn’t warrant a 15% tip after such a long delay. I even joked that a free dessert would’ve been a nice gesture for the wait, but all I got was a generic “Thank you for coming.” Moving forward, I’ll only tip based on actual service—not for waiting on mishandled orders. Hopefully, this was just an off night, but Ezell’s, you can do better…..

Google
Ezell’s on 45th hit the spot! The chicken was flavorful and seasoned perfectly, though it wasn’t super hot, which is the only reason for the 4 stars. The real star of the visit was the staff—super friendly and helpful. The guy who took my order gave me some great recommendations, as i I've never ordered anything but chicken before. I had no idea they served sweet potato pie… and wow, it was amazing! I’ll definitely be back for that.

Google
Within the last 2 months i had multiple awful experiences with the food quality at this ezells. i am happy to say i had a much better experience this go around. i will say the chicken tender size and quality is still sub par but the freshness was much better this time.

Google
Honestly I've had way better chicken. Was it good? It was good enough... But nothing to write home about. The original flavor needed more seasoning, however the chicken was tender and juicy and the skin was crunchy. To be fair though we didn't get the spicy chicken. The thing is though I wouldn't go there again to try it. No tables either. Sauces were 60 cents per small ramekin. Maybe I'm just a snob for good ol friend chicken. I am from the south after all!

Google
The food here is quite good, I personally like it. and would normally give a much better review. However, their delivery says open, and even says it's open for more than another 30m. However they still won't deliver, and when you choose a separate location (albeit a bit further away) they still won't deliver to that area. The delivery timers are open till around 30m till close, so this is 1 hour before close and not even remotely a large order, or a great distance (barely over 1 mile). If you refuse to deliver to a particular area, or if delivery is closed for the day then close it on the site. It's false advertising to say you delivery, and it's available when neither are true.

Google
Don't be fooled by the 3 stars for "atmosphere", Ezell's is all about the delicious chicken and sides. The Wallingford location is simply a spot to pick up the best chicken in Seattle. Ezell's is our go-to for those nights when you don't want to cook, for picnics, or for "why not?". Our family has great memories around sharing a box of spicy (that is our absolute go-to), mac and cheese, the mashed potatoes, and the corn. How their corn tastes different from my own cans of corn, is a mystery. If you are in town, stop by Ezell's and get yourself a box!

Yelp
Got lunch to go from Ezell's and ordered the 4-piece dark chicken with a fresh-baked bread roll, along with mac and cheese and kernel corn as our sides. Everything was tasty! The chicken was tender, flavorful, and not dry at all. The bread roll was soft and warm, and both sides were solid comfort food staples. Overall, it was a great meal. Nothing overly fancy, but definitely hits the spot when you're craving fried chicken.

Yelp
Standard Ezell's. For some reason no matter what location, busy or not, the service is never the best. Staff doesn't smile, not happy to answer questions clearly, and just seem they don't want to be there. Food is mid and tbh KFC is similar if not better. Not a place I ever really go or think about. They do have late night hours though and free parking which is a plus.

Yelp
Undercooked Chicken and Disappointing Meal - Requesting Refund I wanted to let you know about a really disappointing experience I had with my order today. I bought the two-piece combo (mix original) and brought it home, only to discover that the chicken was not thoroughly cooked. It was missing the signature crunch that I love and expect from your chicken, and the skin looked like it hadn't reached a safe cooking temperature. Frankly, it looked undercooked and unsafe to eat, so I tossed it in the compost. The mashed potatoes were also extremely disappointing--reminiscent of those old frozen TV Banquet dinners from my childhood. Definitely not up to the usual standards. I ordered this meal specifically because I was craving your crispy, flavorful chicken, and I've always trusted the quality--especially from your Wallingford location. I paid $14.65 for this meal, and I expect that amount to be refunded to my card. If you need the authorization number, I have it: 231128. The only reason this isn't a one-star review is because the two staff members at the counter were kind and courteous, but unfortunately, the food itself fell far short. I will expect a full refund by Thursday, July 24th, and I will not accept anything less - such as a credit or gift card, etc. I hate to say it, but if quality like this continues, I'll have to reconsider returning as a customer, and I have been a customer since 1999.

Yelp
Just okay. I had Uber eats this chicken to see what it was about. Chicken didn't have much flavoring reminded me of canes but canes at least has the sauce. Fries were also bland but I enjoyed the roll and the Mac and cheese. Pair all them together with the honey now then you have a meal. But on its own nah. Thanks for the food

Yelp
I have been going to Ezell's in Wallingford for years and I fortunately have never had a bad experience. My family and I love their Spicy Chicken Tenders best which is a perfect match with those fresh-baked rolls. We also think their Cajun Fries are delicious... Whatever mix of seasoning they're using tastes so addictive!!! Their sides and sauces are good, too, especially their blue cheese sauce. Not to mention their yummy Peach Cobbler (not pictured) that Oprah famously once said she is a big fan of, lol. Takeout only at the Wallingford location, which has a convenient parking lot. Support a local small black-owned quality business and go to Ezell's. I hope your experience will be as positive as mine has been all these years.

Yelp
Chicken came out just warm, not very hot. Service is mediocre. Not bad, not great. Restaurant location and cleanliness could be better.

Stuart K.

Yelp
Ordered an 8 piece family meal from the Wallingford location today (Sunday) at 7pm. Only received 7 pieces... I guess this is what tipping gets you... On a side note, the last couple times we ordered from here the original felt lacking seasoning. Definitely get the spicy.
google avatar

Matthew M.

Yelp
Ezell's limits the number of dark pieces to 8 on the 24 piece family meal. Gone are the days when you could specify all dark meat, which is tastier and less dry. We don't like white meat. We want all dark meat. Will be checking back to see if this changes. For now, I'll be cooking all chicken thighs at home.

Yelp
Oh my God, so expensive and so terrible. Can I attach the pictures? The coleslaw was soggy. They charged me extra for the ranch dressing. I didn't get any fries. I got a shitty bun's used to be something but it's not anything anymore.

Mat X.

Yelp
The slowest service known to man. A dominos pizza next door could have come out faster.

Yelp
I just ordered from Ezell's and I ordered a pound of fried Gizzards and I never had gizzards from them before, BUT don't order this. It is way too chewy and you can't eat it due to that. I had to throw away more than 1/2 of that. I am glad to order a side of corn. Overall all not good lunch from them . Again this was a Lunchdrop.com delivery.

Yelp
I'm not even sure if Ezelle's deserves a review at all because eating their bland chicken was so uneventful I'm struggling to even remember the experience. I got their chicken tenders which were, firstly, incredibly small and secondly, had no more flavor than a glass of water. No, I take that back, at least water registers on the tongue. The mac and cheese was similarly uninteresting, leading me to believe that whatever it was I consumed was neither mac nor cheese -- it could be easily mistaken for gruel. It's not worth it to come here. It's not bad. It's not good. It's just... nothing.

Yelp
"Ezell's Famous Chicken"- for being the most bland thing ever? I feel like the only people that like this stuff is rich white people that eat unseasoned mashed potatoes. Me and my bf just went, as I have only ever doordashed Ezells once and never had tried it in person. I had a bad doordash experience as my chicken tender were both bland AND fishy, I was skeptical and was right to be. We each got the 3 piece tender and my bf got a side of mac n cheese totaling to about $25 ($27 with tip). These were some of the most bland chicken tenders I have ever had- small in size and you don't even see pepper flakes in the breading so I don't even think they season it. The Mac n cheese was also very bland and mushy, even a little grainy. Service was fine nothing to run home about. Overall the food is not worth the price, if you have tastebuds you're better off at Popeyes.

Nathan L.

Yelp
The fried chicken is pretty good, but the service here needs improvement. Every time I've ordered food from here yall leave something out of the order. It's always leaving out toner my sides or sauce or sometimes even both.
google avatar

Dez C.

Yelp
Their chicken is super crispy and juicy. Their spicy chicken isn't very spicy to me, but I have a low spice tolerance so that isn't an issue. It's very flavorful. Their Cajun fries are SO good. Their rolls were very good as well, so fluffy and delicious. The service is quick and straightforward, and the ambiance is kind of funny to me considering it's just a walk in walk out establishment, but it's kind of cool! Overall a very good experience coming from a tourist :) Hopefully I will have the chance to come back.

Mark U.

Yelp
Ezell's got their act together with an app, so now you can order some delicious chicken, and it's ready when you get there, which is a BIG improvement. One negative: if your food is NOT ready when you get there, then you just wait. BUT, they don't remember that you're waiting, so twice I've waited 10-15 minutes, only to ask them again, and my food was on their 'ready' shelf getting cold.

Yelp
After living in Seattle over 4 years, I finally tried Ezell's after driving by what seems like a million times. I ordered the 1/2 pound Half and Half Chicken Tenders with Blue Cheese and Coleslaw. I also ordered a side of Potato Salad. The Chicken Tenders were good but overcooked. Especially the original. They were quite chewy and a little rubbery. The original also lacks any kind of seasoning. The Spicy Tenders were slightly over cooked but much better than the original. I would order them again. The Homemade Blue Cheese is the star of the show, It was tangy and delicious 10/10. 4 Star review because of the fabulous Blue Cheese The Coleslaw was good. I would order it again. The roll was decent, nothing special. The Potato Salad was under seasoned and just bland. I would not order that again. While I didn't order it, Any restaurant that serves Pepsi wins me over. The young lady (Angelic) who waited on me was a delight. Over all I give it a 7.2/10. I would try it again in hopes the Tenders aren't overcooked.

Yelp
i have gotten food poisoning from this restaurant 3 separate times over the course of two years. the chicken taste is meh, i dont understand the hype.
google avatar

Greg C.

Yelp
We requested their delivery service, which turned out to be very prompt. The food got here hot and was tasty for fast food. The chicken was good. I also had beans and cole slaw, both of which were tasty. I am, overall, impressed with the service and the food.
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
I'm curious what Ezell's chicken is famous for. After trying it out, it might be famous for being bland. I ordered the 2 pounds chicken tenders half original half spicy (about 14 tenders total). The dish comes with 4 rolls shaped like muffins and 2 large sides. The chicken tenders are bland and don't seem to have any seasoning but at least they're crunchy. The spicy isn't spicy at all. The rolls also have no flavor and I would prefer white toast over this. The corn and mashed potatoes were also bland. Skip out on Ezell's as everything is bland.
google avatar

Ed Q.

Yelp
The U-district location is always busy, after a long wait for my order, I discover the Rainier location. Sure, a bit of drive out there but the service is always quick. The chicken is tasty so is the mashes potatoes and gravy. We always get the 16 pieces or 24 pieces combo for the whole family, depending on how hungry we are that day. The leftover sometimes go into the fridge but after reheat in the air fryer, they are almost as tasty, that says a lot about the food. I always pick Ezell's over KFC or Popeyes, just my personal preference. There are some new chicken places opening up in Seattle, I would have to try them out and report back.

Yelp
***Updated*** I was called personally by managment who did everything you are supposed to do when navigating a scenario such as this and Lily even apologized to me personally when I went back. I did have to go back that night because they forgot a few items but I appreciated how they turned this around!

Yelp
The good: The chicken aroma lured me in and there was quite a line so maybe it was good. I got the 2-piece chicken, roll, and 2 sides. I guess for quantity it's a good deal, but for taste it was just ok. Surprisingly my favorite part was the bread roll-- it was really fluffy and easy to eat. The chicken breading was really crispy which I liked. Good energy from staff. The bad: Chicken breast was really dry, and was not a fan of the mashed potatoes and coleslaw. They also had A LOT of flies in front of the restaurant around where we wait in line, hope they take care of that before summer comes around. Made me kinda question my decision of eating here.

Yelp
Update - Since my initial review, Ezell's reached out to me and demonstrated through timely follow ups and generous gestures that they were serious about making things right. Kudos to Sean Casey and the Ezell's staff for their exemplary customer relations management. My family and I will be enjoying another fabulous Ezell's meal very soon! ++++++ 1 Star I ordered a 24 piece family meal for pick up. When I got there, they just handed me a gray plastic bag. It felt too light. So, I opened it up to find just the rolls. NO CHICKEN. I asked for my chicken - and someone hurriedly starting putting chicken in a tray and haphazardly gave the tray to me without even closing the top securely. At the same time, another staff member just looked at me and quipped, "she'll handle it!" in a disrespectful tone, as if to say "if you don't like it, go somewhere else". I will have to think long and hard before I ever return to Ezell's.

Jerry G.

Yelp
We love the food, however I won't be ordering ever again. 2 lbs of chicken fingers, 1 order fries.... For a total of over $70.00! Ridiculous.

Yelp
Bad customer service and stupid employees yesterday they let me wait for my order when it's already done and on the shelf

Yelp
So after being a regular customer here for a long while, I had several bad experiences (weird, tough meat in the chicken tenders on multiple visits), so I left an honest, negative review on Yelp. The owner sent a message asking me to email them so they could try to make it right. I obliged, and sent a note. Crickets...never got a reply. For some reason I decided to go back to the restaurant a couple weeks ago (I know, I know, my mistake) and ordered a 1/2lb spicy tenders combo. I got home and could just immediately tell there was not a half pound of chicken in my basket. Before taking a bite, I threw the tenders on a kitchen scale, and it read just under 163g. Don't worry, I'll do the conversion for you: that's barely 1/3 of a pound...5.7 of the 8oz required to be an honest 1/2lb of chicken. So I emailed the business again (I'm a slow learner, okay?). For a second time, zero response to my complaint, which was backed by photo evidence. I don't think I need to say much more to show you just how much Ezell's cares about their customers these days. What an embarrassment this franchise has become.

Yelp
Best Fried Chicken I've Ate In Seattle. Chicken Is Always Crispy And Made To Perfection. The Chicken Tenders Are My Favorite. Good Service And Delicious Food.

Lisa F.

Yelp
Simple order details 1. 2-2piece with two sides Chicken was hot but burned beyond edible. Pulled apart the breast just to get a good bite 2. Side of potato salad was bland and disappointing. 3. Fries hot/roll got it right 4. Chicken tenders as burned! Cost: way too much for sub par chicken. Next time will got to KFC! Front counter service-basic! No hello and what can I get for you? Another disappointment about Seattle!

Amy P.

Yelp
They have heaters running, very friendly staff, my order came out in literally 10 seconds very epic experience

Yelp
TLDR "Famous Chicken" is a red flag for any restaurant. Ezell's is no exception, delivering mid roadside diner quality chicken. This is a regional, locals kind of debate. Try it if you're looking to be more Seattle vibes. Don't, if you want some tasty chicken. Food Chicken tenders - dry, acceptable Spicy chicken tenders - dry and not spicy Baked rolls - not bad diner vibes Potato Salad - I wouldn't do that again Pros Vintage local vibes Expansive menu options Cons Taste - unless you like dry Quality - if you consider dry, low quality

Yelp
They forgot my order. I watched all of the to go orders by pass all of the local people standing and waiting. Apparently, people who can afford the luxury of ordering delivery services matters over local people who are standing in line. When I asked the young man about my order they all look at each other and apologized that they don't know what happened to my order. The till man-- then tell me they are making my food. After i shared that I watched to go order take priority over mine and local customer. He got smart and said, "Sir, you've only waited 8 minutes." Suddenly, the younger kid that handling order, handed me my order. Yeah right for cooking. I asked for my refund. The till man said I'm sorry i can't do that. Mind you it have been 10 min in a wet and cold night, and I've came from a stressful long day. I have to told the till man-- that I sure can take my complaint to their franchise head quarter on 57th ave s, in south Seattle. Then, he changed his attitude. I got home and the chicken look stale and noy golden. I did asked for it. In my opinion I don't know how this joint is ran, but it is just disgraceful. It's no longer the amazing place of food and services. The quality of many of these franchise stores have gone down hill over the year, first the food, and then the customer service. I first ordered ezell and jones bbq for my previous organization back in early 2000, but this is it for me, many of their franchise food quality is down hill compare to before. Lastly, customer shouldn't be at your mercy. I'm gladly taking my business elsewhere. Above are my protest statement, which is protected by freedom of speech. It is my opinion, and I deserve my right to express. How do you feel about your services lately?

Yelp
Came in on a weekday and there was no line! Staff was really nice, greeted us when we walked in and reviewed our order before finalizing it. When the food was ready they double checked it with us again! We were running errands so ate in the car right away. Those rolls are so good, ate mine plain and it was super fresh. Mashed potatoes and mac and cheese tasted homemade at least compared to other chains. Got chicken strips and they satisfied my craving and some. Shocked some reviewed as dry cause they were super moist and pulled apart easily. Spicy is not that spicy for anyone wondering. And PLEASE get the bleu cheese, its homemade and the best I ever had. Will be back with friends!

Yelp
Talk about getting bamboozled! With chicken gizzards & chicken livers on the menu, I was for sure that I was going to throughly enjoy myself when I went to check out Ezell's Famous Chicken for the 1st time. Nope, I was wrong! The chicken had no taste. It looked good & was hot but it literally tasted like nothing..no seasoning what so ever. Very bland. In my hubby's words "I've never eaten chicken that has plenty of batter but tastes like air"! Me neither honey. We were definitely disappointed especially, since we placed a to go order beforehand & we still ended up waiting an additional 35-40 mins for our food. There were lots of other people also waiting for their food & this just confused me especially, after eating our "air tasting" chicken (tenders & gizzards) so either... a) they don't know what actual finger-licking chicken tastes like OR b) they were 1st timers like ourselves & were champs at sticking it out because at that point they just didn't know any better OR c) the cook we had the day we went was just no bueno because he or she forgot his/her tastebuds at home..it's possible..I mean, we are currently living through a global pandemic. These days, I'm a believer that ANYTHING is possible..even leaving those tiny but mighty , essential tastebuds at home! ;) OR d) those people love to believe the hype I can say that the rolls were on point (insert shoulder shrugging emoji) & the cashier was super nice & doing her best to keep customers happy. (Thank you for that) Anyway..I'm going to leave my thoughts right here for you, if needed. -Rebecca out

Yelp
Picture this: it's Saturday night and you just left the bar with some friends and are craving something extremely bad but tasty. What do you get especially if you're around the UQ area? My friends - this is where you need to come to Ezell's Chicken, which apparently Oprah has flown in personally since she loves it so much. I don't know if this is actually true but I choose to believe this fun fact. We stopped here on the way home to indeed grab some late night fried chicken that I did not regret until maybe the next morning. However, in the moment, it was delicious and the best decision ever. The 2pc dinner set ($9) comes with two regular sides, which I chose to have fries and their mac & cheese. The fried chicken here was super with its really crispy skin and juicy dark meat. I really enjoyed the seasoning and felt they did a really good job in giving it that crunchy texture. The two sides I got were both good but nothing memorable. You can't go wrong with crinkle fries and mac & cheese, but all of their other sides also looked amazing. If I had more stomach space I would have gone for their chicken livers, but the dark meat will have to do for now. Until next time Ezell!

Yelp
The Ezell's in Wallingford has really good food and fast service. As far as ambiance goes, this is a takeout only location. I think this is their best location. The food is hot, fresh, and tender. Their gizzards are fantastic. The Cajun fries and spicy chicken are my favorites. Their spicy okra is tasty as well. The chicken tenders were a bit over cooked and too tough/dry for my taste. I have tried several of their side dishes and they are all great compliments to their main courses. I think their prices are fair, and the quality of their food is so much better than a fast-food restaurant! The Wallingford location can get really busy between 5-7 pm. I recommend ordering your food ahead of time using their app so you can pick it up at your chosen time.

Yelp
Third time in the row, they keep forgetting my side dishes three times. Luckily the last time I checked the bag and went in there and got the dishes side dishes and they acted like I did something wrong service is bad disrespectful in the quality of food is falling off. 206-5124145

Yelp
Ezell's is a Seattle classic. You can smell it down the block and it'll be hard to resist stopping in. It can get super busy so be prepared to wait for a bit if you don't order ahead. I found that getting a regular chicken piece is way better than the tenders, which can sometimes be a bit dry. There was once piece that I got that was SO good, and really made me think of when I would go to the original Ezell's in the Central District. I haven't been back to the original for years now so I'm not sure how they compare! I'll say that the Wallingford spot is "ok" but overall, I'm still a fan of Ezell's and will not hesitate to go back!
google avatar

Sritha V.

Yelp
The service was fast despite the long line. The Mac and cheese was a little mushy but the chicken is well cooked and seasoned, even though the spicy chicken isn't necessarily spicy. We normally get the bbq ranch dipping sauce and it goes quite well with the chicken and fries!
google avatar

Kelly L.

Yelp
Better than 3 stars, maybe not quite 4? The chicken itself was very good, with great breading and nice, juicy meat. It could have used a little more seasoning, though. I've never been one to use sauce of any kind on my fried chicken so I notice these things. The answer doesn't always have to be to use sauce for more flavoring! I was excited for the mac and cheese, which was "fine" as it's really hard to make mac and cheese bad, but again, not much flavor. Mashed potatoes were ok as well, also lacking in flavor. From the post-meal bloating I got, it seems there's enough sodium in there, so it's not a lack of salt! The chicken was the best part of the meal, as it should be, really. I'd order from Ezell's again.

It's one of the better known local takes on fast food chicken. Not the worst, not the best. They use entirely adequately sized chickens unlike some of their competitors, their spicy is just barely detectable, and chickens are cooked about right to a touch dry - in other words, just like you'd expect fast food chicken. The other major pluses are they're open late enough for a midnight snack, they're extremely fast, and at least when we went, they still had ample parking.

Yelp
I think Ezell's Famous Chicken is great! This family owned business started in Seattle over 35 years ago. They have many locations throughout Washington and one in Oregon. Oprah Winfrey said Ezell's was her favorite fried chicken and they catered one of her birthday parties in Chicago! My friends wanted to do a potluck at Ravenna Park, so I decided to bring some fried chicken from the Wallingford location. I placed my order online ahead of time and the website was really easy to use. I ordered the Famous Chicken - Family Size with 16 Pieces. For flavor you can choose Original, Spicy, or Half & Half and for meat type you can choose white, dark, or mix. I went with Original and Mixed pieces. It also comes with 8 bread rolls! I think Ezell's chicken is delicious. The coating tastes good, the meat is juicy, and the pieces are huge. The rolls are also pretty tasty. They are very soft and go well with the chicken. The Wallingford location has a big parking lot, which I always appreciate. Inside, it is basically a big take out stand, so there is no dining area or customer bathroom. It was a little confusing because there are three windows, but they do have paper signs with more info. Since I already paid online, I checked in at the middle window. I was about 10 minutes early, but the staff worked hard to get my order ready quickly. I definitely recommend this place and next time I plan to get some sides. They offer mashed potatoes and gravy, bbq beans, creamy slaw, potato salad, mac & cheese, and corn. They also have peach cobbler and sweet potato pie for dessert!

Yelp
My mom came to town and ended up staying an extra day because she realized we had not taken her to Ezell's. She did not feel her Seattle experience was complete without going to Ezell's. She loves the down home southern comfort of fried chicken, fried okra and gizzards. My go to are the spicy chicken strips and spicy fried okra. My kids love the cajun fries and our nieghbor always gets the potato salad. It's a Seattle must stop! The honey mustard is great, the ranch is the only negative I can find with the whole company.

Yelp
After living not but half a mile from an Ezells for several years and never having tried it...I figured it was time. Sadly though, I did not live up to the hype. Mediocre at best. The chicken strips while lightly breaded and crisp...was overcooked and one chicken strip was almost too chewy to eat. Fries = soggy mess. While yes, I did get it to go, I don't live far away. Not a single fry was crispy. These need some work. The rolls... nothing great and came cold. Tasted like any average roll you could get at the store. Dipping sauces...via hidden valley brand. Again, nothing here warrants the price or hype. I don't recommend. Only up side is that the staff is friendly and they work quickly to get your food.

Yelp
I have to give it to Ezell's for customer service -- I was not happy with my experience, and sure enough, the general manager had the kindness to extend a free gift card! If you're from the South, this is the closest thing to Southern fried chicken you can get at a fairly affordable price point! I've found that I prefer Korean fried chicken more in Seattle, but these have always run the more expensive end of the gamut compared to Ezell's! PRAISE: 1. The Bleu cheese sauce here is great! 2. The chicken when freshly cooked is 9/10 times juicy and moist 3. Good customer service, servers here are polite for fast food standards NOT SO GOOD: 1. Seasoning can be a bit bland. 2. It feels like they cut the breast smaller here (as if they remove some meat for tenders or cut it in half, but that might be because they use bigger birds).

Yelp
Whenever I crave for fried chicken, this is the place to order. I usually get takeout orders from Ezell's and they are super fast to get their order ready; warm and crispy upon arrival. I ordered 4 pieces with 2 sides and it was enough to serve two people; totally worth the price. We got cajun fries and mac & cheese. The cajun fries weren't cooked all the way for half of it so it was crisp on the outside but still a bit hard/frozen on the inside. Mac & cheese was a great side with nice texture of the macaroni and hefty amount of cheese that melts in your mouth. The fried chicken was delicious and flavorful without being too salty. I ordered the sweet potato pie for the first time and highly recommends if you have room for dessert. It was not too sweet, taste like natural ingredient of sweet potato, and perfect portion for one.

Yelp
Ready to wait for an hour for your food? You better be. Their order ahead system has been down forever so there is no ways to reduce your wait time. They are slammed with door dash and Uber eats drivers who drive up pick up food while the loyal customers who've supported them for years are left to wait in line forever for their food. Thanks for NOT remembering who kept you in business. I guess you like paying 30% of your revenue to apps, guess what will happen when all your customers stop ordering from you directly 30 to 40 to 50%. Good luck.

Yelp
Very disappointing. I was a visitor to the city and the worst chicken ever. It was very dark and fried hard. Dark off appearing breading is usually a sign of old cooking oil. The sides were not good either. Someone from the restaurant did reach out apologizing after my review on DoorDash, stating that they wanted to 'make things right'. I don't know what that meant but I have not heard from them again. Their response may have been for show.
