"A Heights bar that doubles as a lively event venue during crawfish season, it’s hosting a special residency on Sunday, May 18 at 1 p.m. with Midtown restaurant Josephine’s serving chef Lucas McKinney’s spicy crawfish. If you go, order them “wet” — they arrive dripping in a Viet-Cajun–style butter sauce made from a signature seasoning blend with a hint of fish sauce. Crawfish are $9 per pound with optional add-ons like $5 sausage links and $4 servings of potatoes, corn, or mushrooms; the boil is first-come, first-served. The spot also offers a full drinks program — cocktails, beer, and frozen beverages — including freezer martinis, Ranch Waters, and a potent Slurricane (two rums, sherry, citrus, Fassionola, and bitters) designed to cool the spice." - Brittany Britto Garley
"While EZ’S Liquor Lounge in The Heights may be known as more of a shot-and-beer pool bar, the cocktails, including the frozen drinks, are just as fun. Our favorite is the slurrrrricane (get it?) with a blend of rum, sherry, and fassionola strawberry and hibiscus syrup. A couple of these on the patio will most certainly cool down a humid evening. And unlike a lot of other frozen bevs, the slurrrrricane isn’t sticky-sweet, but fruity and a little herbal, so sipping on a few won’t give you a dreaded sugar headache, especially alongside a few of EZ’s crispy tacos or hotdogs." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene
"If you want dive bar vibes but high-end booze, EZ’s Liquor Lounge in The Heights can set you up. Get bougie with an expensive bottle of champagne or the champagne of beers. You can relax and play a game of pool, double-fist a couple of chili dogs, while admiring the beer paraphernalia artwork or the fact that the music switches from George Strait to DJ Screw and back again. Even though the inside of EZ’s feels like someone went a little overboard on deep-cleaning, the sparkling sheen doesn’t make the drinks taste any different.
