Fable Kitchen

"This popular farm-to-table cafe has been drawing crowds to Kitsilano for over a decade. The setting is lively and comfortable, with exposed red brick walls, wood furnishings and two varnished wood counters seating a handful of diners facing the open kitchen. During daytime hours, the team turns out hollandaise-slicked eggs Benedict (and variations), Johnny cakes topped with pulled pork and tomato jam and thickly sliced challah French toast plated with caramelized apples and whipped mascarpone. A side order of rosti, two blocks of uniformly golden-brown finely shredded potato cakes accompanied by chive-flecked sour cream, is always a good idea. Dinnertime eats are equally hearty and satisfying, as in a short rib with polenta and grilled leeks." - Michelin Inspector

We came here to have dinner with a friend we haven't seen for over a year, and it was a great choice. It was our first time there and we didn't know what to expect. The place is small.and tight. There is contemporary art on the walls and a bust of the Michelin Man staring you down as you eat. The food is expensive but incredibly delicious. Fable definitely isn't a weekly restaurant but a special occasion restaurant. We ordered a few things and shared most of it which seems to be the recommendation. Our favourites came down to the duck meatball; a single oversized meatball with parmesan foam. The meatball was soft, seared nicely and paired nicely with pasta. Another favourite was the chocolate lava cake. It takes an extra ten minutes but the wait is worth it. The warm soft middle and the vanilla ice cream makes it a great end of meal dessert. We also ordered and shared the gnocchi. We opted to get it with the pork belly for an extra $6. This would make it $2/piece. It was a hefty price but it was delicious, tender and a melt in your mouth fat. The gnocchi itself was great and the pea puree gave it a nice freshness. For the butcher's cut, we went for the porkchop. It had a sweet bbq like sauce with it. The meat itself was tough and difficult to cut even with a serrated knife. Overall the experience was excellent. We'll definitely come back during a special occasion. I recommend making a reservation since it's popular and it was mostly full when we went there.

I found Fable Kitchen on the Michelin Guide and was able to make a reservation on OpenTable a couple days before our Friday night dinner. The interior is very moody and rustic, which matches the cuisine theme of farm-to-table but contemporary. The dinner was delicious. We managed to order the LAST house made bread, which was an amazingly fluffy and flavorful focaccia with sun dried tomato butter. It was incredible! Another noteworthy dish of the night was the Ling Cod which had a savory tomato sauce that complemented the fish beautifully. The only dish that fell short was the beet salad, some of the beets weren’t pickled correctly and so were hard/fibrous. Practically inedible. We casually told our server Daniel and he took it off of our table without us even asking. The service was amazing. Daniel was amazing. He gave perfect recs and really made our night special!

This place is unique. For a weekend we were able to get last minute reservations which was nice and convenient . Our server was attentive and he walked us through the menu with great knowledge and clarity. We enjoyed his recommendations that were crafted creatively around our preferences which he made great consideration for. The food portions were not big but tasty, not too overpowering and each dish complimented each-other well. The taste profile of this restaurant is definitely unique compared to food around the city, as it gives you a taste of very well crafted homestyle-comfort food which matches well with the atmosphere within the establishment. Coming back soon!

We chose to celebrate our engagement, and it was the perfect decision. From the moment I made the reservation until we left, the service was outstanding. The staff was incredibly caring, helpful, and sweet, making our special occasion even more memorable. The food was delicious, with each dish arriving at the perfect time. We also enjoyed a couple of amazing mocktails, including their selection of non-alcoholic gin and tonic options. The attention to detail and commitment to quality were evident throughout our meal. The cozy and inviting atmosphere added to the overall exceptional dining experience. We highly recommend it for any special occasion or simply a delightful meal.

Oh Fable Kitchen, you made my birthday feel like pure magic! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by name (even though it was my first time!) and led us to a cozy table where a handwritten birthday card awaited. That sweet, personal touch set the tone for an unforgettable night!!! We began with chickpea fritters that were delightfully crisp on the outside and lusciously creamy inside, each bite balanced by a silky vegan curry mayo, tangy ribbons of pickled onion, and peppery arugula. For drinks - I asked for a mezcal sour, and they delivered the BEST one I’ve ever had - smoky, tart, and flawlessly balanced!!! My friend ordered a pineapple spritz with a splash of vodka, which he loved! The April tasting menu felt like a storyteller’s arc: a crisp, vibrant salad studded with sweet apple and toasted seeds; a perfectly seared halibut fillet that flaked into buttery ribbons alongside miso-roasted carrots and a golden potato rosti; and finally, a molten chocolate lava cake whose rich, oozing center met its match in velvety vanilla gelato. I can still taste the deliciousness as I write this!!!! My friend’s vegan ragù pasta was a comforting hug of tender ribbon noodles bathed in a rich, vegetable-forward sauce - heavenly. All in all, the kind and attentive service, with an intimate candlelit ambience, alongside an open kitchen - Fable Kitchen is truly a Vancouver gem!!!

I was excited to try Fable Kitchen—its close proximity to The Modern (where we were headed for a late-night event) and the Michelin Guide nod made it a natural choice. I'm glad we gave it a shot, but I wouldn’t return. The overall experience felt like the kitchen was trying too hard to be inventive, often at the expense of harmony and balance. I usually enjoy creative twists, but here the flavour combinations felt mismatched rather than innovative—less like an elevated take on the classics and more like an experiment in pushing boundaries that didn’t quite land. That said, the bread was a clear highlight—perfectly done and truly memorable. I was hesitant about the canned tuna dish (the name alone felt out of place in a fine dining setting), but we tried it based on numerous positive reviews. It was just okay, but certainly not exceptional. The maitake mushrooms were also just okay, though under-cooked to a noticeable degree. Dishes like the green pea carbonara, ling cod, and chicken cutlet showed promise but were marred by unusual spices that distracted from the core flavours. Unfortunately, the service didn’t elevate the experience. Our server came across a bit awkward—like they were trying really hard, but picked the wrong profession. Much like the food, it felt like they were trying to be something they couldn't quite pull off. In short, Fable Kitchen aims for creativity, but the execution didn’t resonate with me. I hope they make some changes, as it seems like they have great potential and I would love to see them tap into it.

The server was friendly and chatted with us a bit at the start. He asked us if we "wanted the worlds best tap water or sparkling water", and then brought out a bottle of San Pellegrino, which we later saw was about $10. Only after we finished that bottle another server from a different section offer us house sparkling water. I found this a bit misleading, and it left a bad taste despite how good the food was. It’s not really about the $10 but it’s more the feeling of being taken advantage of, especially on a night I hoped to relax and enjoy myself. Wife was taking me out for my birthday, the kids were away at camp, and I just wanted a peaceful meal at a place I trusted. It’s hard when even small things like this make it feel like you always have to keep your guard up. When the server applied the gift card to our bill, I made a conscious choice to tip based on the full amount, not the discounted total. That small decision helped me leave feeling like I’d done the right thing and that, in a world that often feels cynical, I’d chosen to act with integrity.

Our plans got canceled last minute and we ended up in the neighbourhood so we went to Fable for brunch. First I need to say that the service was stellar from the person who seated us to our server. I also loved the atmosphere it’s small, cosy and convivial with brick walls and interesting local art. We ordered the French toast, pulled pork Johnny cakes and the fable breakfast…I paid $2 to upgrade it to a “Trucker’s breakfast” and got one small pancake for that, would not do that again - disappointing. I tasted everything - the blueberry bourbon sauce with the French toast was exceptional and the pulled pork was delicious. Also liked that the hot sauce came in a group of 3 - mild, medium and hot. What a great idea!! Otherwise the food we tried was standard breakfast fare. All three items were $20 or less which for this city is definitely considered good value. We enjoyed our visit and would absolutely go again.

Yelp
I stopped in at this restaurant on a whim with a friend prior to seeing a musical at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. I was on limited time and yet I'm so glad we made the stop in here. The restaurant was packed when I was there, but that didn't stop the experience from being great. The server was very attentive, kind, and helpful and made sure to check in appropriately throughout the meal. Myself and my friend both chose to order the Roast Duck Ravioli. It did not disappoint. The ravioli was stuffed with butternut squash and paired perfectly with the confit duck leg. The duck was tender and juicy and cooked to perfection. The crispy pork belly and brown butter sauce added that extra flavour and sweetness to round out the meal. I would absolutely come back here again just to order this, but would be intrigued to try some of the other items that were listed on the menu as well. I can't wait to come back and try more of their delicious options!

Yelp
Another brunch place ticked off my list. Place was always packed so would recommend a reservation. Honestly, tables were pretty close together so it's hard to talk with how noisy the restaurant was. Service was alright, but I thought it was pretty shady for the waitress not to confirm that the extra pickles were extra charges. Most people in our group ordered the french toast (courtesy of me of course hahaha), however it's not as good as I expected given the rave reviews online imo. The brioche was way too floppy, flavour wise it was just sugary sweet, and there's barely any fruits. Got the same sentiment across their other items (they were decent, not great). Once is enough for me. List of items we ordered and the prices (I didn't try their dishes so can't rate them): 1. French Toast ($18) 2. Kitsilano Vegan Bowl ($18) 3. Fable Breakfast ($18) 4. Smash Burger ($19) plus cheese ($2)

Yelp
Lemon Potatoes were Amazing! Ask for their in house hot sauce, it sure added the kick. I'm unsure about the wagyu steak, was a little chewy for med rare. Great experience overall.

Yelp
My friends and I had a great time here during our visit to Vancouver. I'm glad we had a reservation because it was pretty busy when we walked in. We came in for brunch on Victoria Day and they were doing a special menu that was a pretty good deal and included a main, drinks, and some extra pastries. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive at all times. It's a nice restaurant on a commercial street. I'd certainly recommend checking it out!

Yelp
What a fun and completely unexpected dining experience! My husband and I stumbled upon fable on our journey from Vancouver to Squamish and it was the highlight of our trip to date! Parking was a bit challenging on the street, but after finding a spot we bundled up and made our way into Fable hoping for a table. Luckily it was pretty empty and we were seated right away by the delightful Manon who greeted us with a beautiful smile. At our table Manon showed me the coat hooks where I could hang my jacket for the meal and brought us water. She reviewed the menu and left us to enjoy our cocktails. We started with the blacklight and my husband ordered a whiskey drink. Both were delicious. Food is created to be shared so we eagerly ordered a fun variety to sample. We started with the bread and butter which was amazing! It was perfectly cooked foccocia bread with a delicious light herb butter. It was simple yet delicious. Next out we were surprised with the most exciting and tasteful amuse bouche we've ever experienced. My husband described it best so I'll insert his words here for you. "Wow that made my mouth so happy. It was an explosion of flavor. Sour from the pickled onion, heat of the aioli and the zing from the lemon drive this starter crazy." The dish was a warm and crispy curd served on a small spoon with pickled onion on top. We could have easily enjoyed a bowl of them as a starter! They were SO tasty!!! Next out we shared the winter salad. The lettuce was fresh and the dressing was light and perfectly flavored to complement each vegetable. I ordered the sable fish and my husband chose the 12oz butchers cut that was aged for 30 days. We added the patatas bravas in to give us a starch. The sable fish was cooked perfectly. It was tender and moist and the greens beside it were beyond delicious! I could eat them daily!!! So good! I swapped some of my fish for a sliver of my hubby's steak and enjoyed that as well. It was flavorful and cooked perfectly at medium rare. The mushrooms that accompanied the dish were flavorful and complimented it nicely. We skipped desert and opted to share a bottle of the Geheinger brothers private reserve. The ambiance was fun, with pitch fork chandeliers hanging above the table, Antigua furniture and tables made of butcher block. The kitchen and bar are open concept so you have the ability to observe art as it's created before experiencing it with your other senses. Overall the experience was top notch. Manon is excellent and an absolute gem. The food is unique and beyond stellar- every single thing we ate was drool worthy- and the ambiance was simple yet fun! I highly recommend this place and cannot wait to return!

Yelp
What a meal! Timing of courses and service was spot on despite the heavy traffic. Came here for dinner service and honestly it did not disappoint. Duck Breast - seared nicely with juicy morsels of duck in every bite. Special Fried Fish Wrap Board was the star in my opinion. I didn't expect this to be available but boy was I glad I came when it was on the menu. If gills and fish bones don't scare you, this may be the thing for you. Quite a bit of fish meat to be had, pickled vegetables and being able to make green wraps provided the much needed respite from eating more potato's or filling up on bread. Maitake - the cashew cream on this dish really completed it for me. All in all, anything fungus/mushroom like is a generally a win. This one was no different Chickpea Fritters - a bit too heavy for me personally but if you wanted something besides bread or potatoes to fill you up, this is a pretty solid option. All in all, a cozy farm to table eatery that I think shines brighter during dinner than the most often praised about brunch hour. This one is a definite return on my books.

Yelp
I always pass by this restaurant. Finally a friend asked to have brunch here today, so here I am. My friend reserved a table online which was very convenient and I always like to reserve tables online without waiting in a super long line up for an hour or so. The server provided great service. The ambience was great for family or friends gathering. The venue has a decent size. It is considered comfortable that there is a reasonable distance between tables and customers, so we could chat without hearing what others were talking next to us. Their menu had different options for customers to choose from. We ordered a few dishes. I felt each dish was presented well. But the flavour was okay. It was just a normal dish of western breakfast to me. I wouldn't say I would wow for it. The location is right on a busy street that customers can come here to eat and walk around the neighbourhood after the meal. It's hard to find parking though. It's better for ones who take public transit or who live in the neighbourhood.

Yelp
I was super excited to try the restaurant today as it has many reviews and also many friends' recommendations . My wife and I decided to go on Good Friday. When we went in we had high expectations due to the interior design was so artistic and the vibe was really nice to bring a nice date to. Let's talk about the experience. I have to rate the service 2/5 stars. It was a mess. 1) we called to book for a table and when we arrived and informed the server and got seated. after 10min the same server called and asked me if my wife and I still coming to dine at Fable. 2) it took a long time to grab waiter attention to order food 3) the food was delivered wrong. the waiter didn't find alternative solution and it was me telling the waiter its ok to bill us for the wrongly delivered dish since we start eating it. if it was at other restaurants they will take the price off the receipt. It's unfortunate to experience that as I had high expectations for the restaurant. Rating on Food: I would only rate 3/5. My wife had the ham benny and we rated 2/5 as it was soaked in Hollandaise sauce which made the muffin soggy and unpalatable. my wife didnt even finished it. Additionally, the wrongly delivered dish you received only added to the disappointment of your dining experience. I ordered the daily market benny which was the BLT benny and it was amazing. the only downside was the potatoes which was not seasoned at all. The BLT benny i would rate 5/5 but the overall dish 4/5 due to the potato. I would not come back again as the experience and the food was not worth my time.

Yelp
Top notch once again! Try the house-made mocktails! Best I've had - "No-groni" was complex, aromatic, and refreshing. The pineapple-gin-spritz was flavorful, not sweet, with a peppery finish. The Butcher's cut was already beautifully seasoned with herbs that really enhanced the flavor, but then the "pepper jam" ginger reduction was absolutely to die for - rich, sticky flavor explosions with every mouthful. The bok choy greens and miso potatoes were the perfect accompaniment. Both desserts were wonderful - rhubarb with strawberry curd in blueberry-balsamic ice cream melded amazing flavors together under a toasted meringue top, while the bittersweet chocolate orange with graham cake was a satisfying and rich blend without being heavy or too sweet. And yes, Kathy S., your comment on my second review did show up. Thanks to you and your staff for another great evening out.

Yelp
Stopped by with a reservation for dinner on a weekend and had a wonderful time! We had the duck meatball, gnocchi w/ pork belly, sable fish, seasonal beans, and strawberry parfait. Even for two hungry people, we definitely over-ordered and could've done with one dish less and skipped dessert. Everything was very flavorful and fresh! I'd say the gnocchi was my favorite, and the sable fish was a bit plain for me. The ambiance is cozy and lively, good for larger groups and date night alike. We did have to wait quite a bit between our starters and entrees, but our server was very communicative and attentive. They offered to cover dessert which was much appreciated! Despite the wait, we still left feeling happy and satisfied with the service.

Yelp
Fantastic farm to table restaurant with excellent service We had potatoes, carrots, Brussel sprouts, gnocchi and desserts - everything was great

Yelp
Fable is solid. Stellar food of excellent quality, great waiting staff, cozy-cool vibe. Farm to table goodness. This last time I went I had steak that was worth paying for, excellent cocktails were had , the beetroot tartare appt was small but yummy and the chef sent us a cool vegan risotto as an extra special for our table. Random act of kindness was awesome. Not super private to eat here but it's the city so that's part nod the life. Loved our waiter - you should try this place but it's not cheap - in value or price. You pay for what you get.

Yelp
Yet another 5/5 restaurant experience in Vancouver. Fable is farm-to-table at its best. Everything we had was good (see the pictures). I only wish they weren't out of the BBQ carrots.

Jack T.

Yelp
Totally bland food. Ordered the halibut and duck as mains, both lacked a lot of flavor. Truly disappointing given the price point and reviews. IMO does not deserve a Michelin mention and I would avoid. Food was totally unseasoned. Sides were pretty good. Service was good. Ambiance was great. But flavor was completely absent. Harsh review but needs to be said. Worth noting I ate here on a Sunday night.

Yelp
Used to frequent this little gem when I stayed in Vancouver with my family and I was happy with their service and food. However this time is not what I used to experience. The service is still ok. Not sure if the Michelins crown actually blinded their creations or what, food wasn't what they used to serve. Duck breast was kinda warm, not hot and chewy. Most of the dishes were... very very bland. The promised farm to table experience is zero. I am just very sad to say this is not longer my go to place when I go back to Vancouver and I hope they will at least keep their food to the standard what they used before.

Yelp
I had heard a lot of good things about this restaurant and liked its rustic decor. I was able to make reservations on OpenTable and seated with no issues. What became a little odd was as I was waiting for my 2 other friends, our server seemed to come by what seemed to be every 2 to 5 min asking if we wanted any appetizers or drinks to start. It wasn't until 3 of the 4 of our party was here that she curtly said, " Your table is booked only for an hour and a half." It may have been nicer to just mention this in the beginning rather than pace around our table. We ordered and got started, and in the end , we finished our meal and paid with time to spare. We went for the dine out menu, and I got the salt fish fritters, beef stiletto, and pear crumble. Salt fish fritters: very bready/ doughy with pieces of salty fish on the crust. The spicy sauce was just the right amount of heat to balance with the sweet vinaigrette that the salad came with. Beef stiletto: interesting miso hollandaise sauce that looked like it was piped but arrived at the table in 2 blobs on the plate. The side that looked like scalloped potatoes had the raw potato crunch and was a bit bland overall. Portion was decent for me, but my friends who got the ling cod said it was small. Pear crumble: pear was also on the crunchier side and a bit dry( despite being poached). The ic me cream was delightful, but the crumble was not very pleasing. Maybe a bit on the over toasted side? Maybe because it was vegan , not enough butter substitute used to have a rich soft taste. Not a very good way to end the meal, but I really enjoyed the atmosphere and would maybe try other things from their menu.

Yelp
Not only are their Benny's and Frech Toast out of this world good, their management team and staff have stellar integrity! I visited Fable with my parents on Sunday August 27th for brunch, wanting to show them one of my favorite brunch spots when I visit BC (we are from Seattle). My 87 y.o. dad accidentally forgot his wedding ring in the restroom (he takes his ring off to wash his hands). Not only is this an unreplaceable family heirloom, it's something he's had for 35+ years of marriage. We looked everywhere for it on Monday, retracing our steps and looking through all the pictures we took to pinpoint where it could have been left (ending up at Fable). I called and talked to Fable's manager, and while they didn't immediately have my dad's ring, they thankfully did locate it later that day! The good folks at Fable are honest! They not only kept my dad's ring safe, their manager I talked to (who I will call "D" to keep his name anonymous) went out of his way to mail it back to my dad in the States since we were already back over the border by Monday. Thank you D! You know you made my entire family's day. We can't thank you enough for your honesty and good will. It's nice to see that good poeple do still exist in this crazy, changing world!

Yelp
Easily one of the best eats in vancouver. My friends and I had excellent service with a knowledgable and friendly server who was very accomodating and even made me a gin and tonic that was blue since its my favorite color despite it being an odd request The duck breast was by far the best duck I have eaten in vancouver. My dining guests agreed. The gnocci was a perfect level of chewy. Every cocktail we ordered and dinner item was superb. It was a relaxed dark lit environment perfect for a date. The food was well seasoned but not overly salty. Would recommend dining here again, cannot say enough good things. Portions were also very generous and will not leave you hungry if you get an entree and skip the appetizers

Yelp
Brunch on any day at Fable Kitchen is always a great idea! Had the day off, with a friend visiting from out of town, and she chose Fable! She chose the Veggie Omelette while I ordered the Fable Breakfast with scrambled eggs and added a side of Pork Belly. And Peach mimosas to set the brunch mood. Everything was delicious! Couldn't stop eating the potatoes even though I was full. Also their housemade blueberry jam was amazing. It was a great start to our day!

Yelp
I went with a friend last week and sat at the bar. Very cozy, friendly and intimate vibe, and staff are very welcoming. We ate the duck meatball with pasta as a shared appetizer. It was tasty, although I thought the meatball was a tad dry. We also shared the beet salad which was a nice variation on the theme. I had their pork belly special, which was delicious, but quite fatty - not much of the fat was rendered out, so I ended up cutting out more than half of it. But it was very very tasty. Overall, I really enjoyed my evening here and look forward to coming back with my husband whenever Omicron subsides and/or we get triple-vaxxed!

Yelp
The intention of the farm to table is solid; however, the food can be inconsistent in taste and quality. Convenient location and good service.

Yelp
(3.5) Was 4 stars but the slightly chaotic service the second time we are back made me drop 0.5 stars. Food is always very good and very filling - potatoes super crispy and would recommend subbing for Rosti . For 27.50 on the weekends you get the prohibition brunch - main entree with drinks with a scone and a cookie at the end - very worth it! It's just that the second time we are back the waiter got our order all wrong for the first time but he was very sweet and apologized. The vibe is very cute as well just hoping the quality of service to be more consistent.

Yelp
Warm, welcoming and a friendly crew. They have a short and crisp menu to order from that will simplify your life without getting into a maze-of-menu. So, I ordered the first thing on the menu which comes with a coffee of your choice, a cocktail of your choice, a scone and a main course. My coffee was the oat milk latte. It had a grainy texture perhaps from the richness of the oat milk, coffee beans must have been roasted to the right tipping point. Loved the Latte. The scone was tiny, came with a scoop of salted butter which was definitely the cherry on top of the scone. And then there was the egg Benedict. Prima facie nothing fancy except a sliver of greens peaking out of the ham and poached eggs. This was a game changer. The greens came from spinach pesto, had that nutty flavour of toasted pine seeds and not at all greasy. Egg Benedict is never going to be the same for you after you have had this spinach pesto egg benny. It gave a soul to the benny!! Loved it !!

Yelp
I came here for a quick brunch and was really pleasantly surprised!! Bullet point review: - classic menu with innovative twists - cornbread pancakes are amazing - there's way more meat in every dish (than you'd expect or that my pictures show) - house made hot sauce is awesome - service is great - interior has some cool decorations 5/5, will be back sometime for dinner :)

Yelp
Came because they got the bib gourmand -- was pretty good brunch food, even better ambiance. Great alternative to what seemed to be much busier brunch spots on a Sunday morning but this place takes reservations. Fast service, amazing spin on brunch with farm to table food.

Yelp
One of our favorite places! Brunch is excellent and very reasonable. Try the Johnny cakes with a poached egg! Fantastic! The French toast is a delicious sweet option. The dinner is also wonderful--the duck breast us the BEST! The sablefish melts in your mouth! Again, price us quite reasonable for what you get.

Yelp
Delicious every time! The food is rustic and homey, while also an innovative and refreshing edge. Service is discrete and pleasant, and the mood lighting makes for a cozy experience. I've gone there for brunch and dinner, and try to find any excuse to go again!

Yelp
Neat farm-to-table spot in downtown Vancouver. Like many Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants, more of a low-key upscale bistro, not white table cloth fine dining. We liked it.

Carol H.

Yelp
We had to try this place for our last dinner in Vancouver and we were very happy that we did. First, we were warmly greeted at the door and escorted to our table. Our server quickly came to our table to say hello and get our drink order. Then it slowed down which was a great time to relax and enjoy the vibrant dining room. Next on our table was freshly baked rolls! Nothing homier than that! Then came a couple of tasting spoons of finely chopped celery root, apples and nuts that reminded me of Thanksgiving stuffing. Wonderful! We shared the duck breast, lingcod and BBQ carrots though I didn't really want to share the duck. Unfortunately, we couldn't share the strawberry rhubarb parfait dessert because of my blueberry allergy so we went with a chocolate dessert topped with a pretty meringue. All the staff visit your table to bring you something, refill water etc. all we're great and friendly. I loved their Canadian hospitality and will definitely return next time I'm in Vancouver!

Yelp
Came on a weekday for brunch and there was no line. Food was fantastic, everything was fresh and the server was fantastic, helping us out with drinks and coffee regularly. My favourite meal from my trip to Vancouver.

Yelp
A must have is the Duck Meatball. The paper plane cocktail is amazing too. Brunch is a waste of time tho.

Yelp
Great atmosphere & attentive staff, the octopus starter was too small with only 5 pieces of meat; the flavour was decent, but more chewy than desired. The daily special was described as tortellini pasta with mushroom stuffing, the shell was tasteless and the filling without much flavour as well, covered with a very flavourful mushroom reduction.

Yelp
This was an amazing dinner for 6 of us - 4 adults & 2 teen boys. We shared the Warm Kale Salad and Chickpea Fritters with the table. Watching my 15-year-old nephew get seconds and thirds of the kale salad warmed my heart. The food was so healthy and tasty. The chickpea fitters included a delicious pickled onion and mustard sauce, which made the dish. I would go back just for that! Three of us ordered the Ling Cod - fantastic!! Fresh, local, tender, great flavors & cooked just right. Short Ribs - OMG! Tender, melt in your mouth, soft & robust. Polenta was creamy & savory. Brussels sprouts - tiny, perfect, flavorful gems, cooked just enough. New York steak - flavorful, potato was tender, fell apart right away. Jam sauce was great, not too sweet. Dessert was lemon meringue parfait - absolute heaven. I don't think this restaurant could make anything less than delicious! The s'mores were incredible - the marshmallows were alright but the fudge was immense! The chocolate ice cream added to it. The graham cracker was crumbled, which added the right level of texture! Highly recommend this restaurant!!

Yelp
The food was alright. Not bad but the balance wasn't really there. For a high end gourmet restaurant it could use some balance. The food was either one note (ie just sweet) or just too heavy

Yelp
Great good and service! The steak was great and the black pepper jam is amazing. We'll be back!

Yelp
Food poisoning. The omelette 'special' hit us both within 10 min of leaving the restaurant. Terrible discomfort. Called to let the manager to let them know (to minimize repeat for others) but the response was apathetic. Would not recommend.

Yelp
Fable has been one of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver to dine at for dinner! The ingredients they use are always so flavorful and every dish I've had has been very delicious. The customer service is wonderful and the interior has a nice atmosphere for a date night or group outing.

Yelp
I couldn't ask for more on a slow night at the restaurant. They were about to close but accommodated us . We were very hungry but didn't wanted to eat heavy so we ordered chickpea fritters n beets salad. N omg... my best chickpea fritters ever. So heavenly fresh n soft to eat. Beet salad was even better. I guess the fresh ingredients flavoured so well. In fact there were many food items that i was tempted to eat but I didn't ( have to watch my big growing stomach) I forgot the name of my cocktail but it was delicious n refreshing. There are good deserts as well like cheesecake, toffee caramel truffle . Loved the ambience n decor inside. It was peck clean n all covid precautions were taken. Staff was very gracious n smiling. Would love to go back to try duck dish .

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came to Vancouver for a day and had no phone service so we had no idea what kind of restaurant this was when we walked in. We were seated outside for dinner which was wonderful. I had a duck meatball, the octopus and a fish dish that I can't recall the name of. We also had a $6 bread appetizer. The duck meatball was incredible. I haven't had duck in at least three or four years and I was in love with it. This meatball made me realize how absolutely god-awful veggie meatballs are. The octopus dish had a mustard dressing that had my boyfriend and I oohing over because we couldn't get enough. The pork belly included in the mushroom dish was very good. Surprisingly enough I wasn't crazy about the main dish which was the fish, but that doesn't mean it wasn't very good. For all four items between me and my boyfriend we found ourselves satisfied. I hate to leave half a dish uneaten, luckily that was not the case here. each portion size was exactly what we wanted. Our waiter was so kind to us and gave us a great recommendation for where to go watch the sunset.

Yelp
We stopped for lunch here on our way out of town after the husband read some great reviews. We just popped in hoping there would be a place for us and they did a great job accommodating us. The restaurant has a fun vibe with an awesome and unique chandelier in the center and interesting art on the walls. The whole restaurant is pretty small including the dining area, a tiny little open kitchen, and a couple small bathrooms in the back. They do a good job with the space though and have lots of nice seating. Our server was really nice and attentive. They have some gluten free options on their menu and she was able to point me in the right direction. The husband can never turn down a grilled cheese, the little boy inside him wins every time. He was all smiles on the other side of the table as it disappeared so I think it was pretty spot on. I had the burger lettuce wrapped and it was good. We had nice service and a quick and pleasant lunch before heading back to the Seattle area.

Yelp
As an american who loves his breakfast this place slaps in a good way. I just had the basic fable breakfast but it was high quality food. Crispy breakfast potatoes none of that soggy weird texture and it was perfectly seasoned not bland at all. I dont know where they get their sourdough bread from but it was flaky like a croissant but had that chew of sourdough, soo goood. I had my eggs overhard cause I am weirdo but they cooked and seasoned them perfectly. They a good selection of hot sauces and all types of drinks (yes alcoholic too). I recomend any tourist to stop by here if you are going to the museums nearby. Great food great atmosphere. Only thing im sad about was that i ate my food before taking a photo cause i was hungry . I will be back next time I am in Vancouver! More positives. Vegetarian menu options. Amazing staff who are friendly and helpful. Relaxing atmosphere. They have their own in house jams!!

Yelp
Duck breast was the worst dish I've ever had. I couldn't even eat half of it. And the waitress didn't even ask why I haven't finished my food. The starter was good but I left the restaurant hungry! I would never go there again.

Yelp
Fable has been on my list for a long time and I'm disappointed it has taken me so long to try it out! I love that they support local farms and get fresh ingredients daily. They even have a rooftop garden to grow some of their own ingredients. We came here for my birthday dinner and were greeted quickly by the hostess. They have an open kitchen right at the front with bar seating as well as regular tables in the back. We were told by the server that their dishes are meant to be family style which for me is the most ideal for trying a bit of everything. OYSTER FISH & CHIPS - Each order is only 1 piece of a medium sized beer battered fried oyster on tartar, topped with mini french fries. It was a perfect spoonful of deliciousness. The batter was light and the tartar was a refreshing balance. ROOFTOP SERRANO PEPPERS - This appy was quite large for the 2 of us. There were about 16 small roasted peppers in a white foam, topped with some chicharron. The spiciness of peppers are always a surprise but don't worry these range between a little sweet to mildly (2/10) spicy. SMOKED DUCK BREAST - Perfectly cooked tender duck breast with roasted parsnip, duck confit croquette and cabbage. The croquette tasted more like a carrot, potato croquette however. BC HALIBUT with SHORT RIB on pea risotto, miso and halibut dashi. This dish was my least favourite because the halibut was overcooked. The halibut was pan fried, leaving the outside crispy but the inside dry. There were only a few small pieces of short ribs but they were quite tender. The pea risotto with the dashi was tasty even with so many peas in it! Overall a wonderful birthday dinner.

Yelp
We made the reservation as this was supposed to be the best restaurant in town. All the dishes are appetizer size, so you must order 4-5 dishes. There was only one duck meatball with pasta. 30 dollars for 6 oz of fish seems pricey, though this is Canada. The couple to my right came later but all their meals were served first. We waited good 30 minutes for our potatoes. Asparagus salad was good. The music is more for younger generation as I became ill listening to heart pounding music, even after the waiter turned down the music, it became louder again. I left without finishing my meals. The toilet was non functional as there was no water in tank, it was embarrassing. Not a pleasant experience. Will not return.

Yelp
Great spot. I didn't catch the name of the gentleman who helped us pick wine but he was the most down to earth and helpful som I've ever met. Not an ounce of pretentious in his soul. Loved it. Great food too.

Yelp
Listen... Breakfast and brunch are pretty hard to mess up, so sometimes these places can be monotonous and blend together. NOT the case here. I found this place online prior to my trip to BC and made a reservation for the prohibition brunch on a Saturday morning. I'm SO glad that I did because I'm still thinking about this experience days later. I ordered the Pulled Pork Johnnycakes with a seasonal mimosa (cranberry lemon) and a coffee. Every one of those elements was fantastic on its own, but as a whole meal? Jeez. The Johnnycakes themselves came with the pulled pork, of course, along with jalapeños (I believe they were either pickled or candied?) and a tomato jam that I WILL be trying (unsuccessfully) to replicate at home, and I added a soft poached egg atop the stack as per my waiter's recommendation. What an absolutely perfect bite of food. So beautifully balanced in terms of flavor and texture - and hearty! I got a couple meals out of it. My mimosa was nice and boozy (how I like it) and fresh. The coffee was unmistakably diner coffee if you know what I mean, but even with that, it was super smooth and perfect on this cooler Saturday morning. To top it all off, my meal ended with a cute little chocolate chip cookie that was the perfect sweet treat. Service was outstanding. My waiter and I got to talking about the housemade hot sauces and she sent me home with a sample of each. (So good!) The staff overall just created such a nice atmosphere for me to enjoy a nice, slow Saturday morning. Definitely telling any friends of mine about this place as they plan trips here! Did I mention the price as well? $28 for all of that is really not bad, especially since I'm used to paying New York prices for everything. Great value on top of everything!

Yelp
Came here for a brunch date on a Saturday around noon and got seated right away but we definitely got the last open seats in the restaurant, so if you're coming, be prepared that it starts getting crowded around then! I liked how they have both sweet and savory options on their menu. They offer a variety of different eggs benedicts - we opted for their traditional eggs benny and their french toast! Both were good however, portion sizes were a little small for what you're paying. Eggs benny was perfectly done - yolk was runny and flavor was good! I really liked these "rostis" thats on the side - its like a flattened tater tot - that crispy goodness :) Their french toast was one thicc slab of bread topped with mascarpone cream, farm fresh berries, and candied walnuts. This dish was a little too sweet for my liking. I was really impressed with the bread/toast itself - it was very caramelized on the outside but the inside was very soft! Felt like we were eating dessert haha. Their staff were kind and patient and helpful! Ambiance in the restaurant is definitely comfortable yet a little fancy and could do for a romantic meal too :)
