Fabulous Freddies Italian Eatery

I drove all the way from Michigan to go to fabulous Freddy’s on 31st and it was worth every single mile. I ordered Italian beef . Best in the area (200 mile)and Italian meatball that was awesome.

The Italian Ice was absolutely delicious. Being able to pick multiple flavors within one cup allows you much more freedom with what flavors you are feeling like that day. The pineapple Italian ice was sweet with noticable bits of fruit within the ice, which is replicated with all the other flavors. Mango has small bits of fruit, and Raspberry has its seeds in the ice, adding another layer of freshness and texture. While we did not purchase anything savory, if you want something from here, grabbing a cup or two will make your taste buds thank you!

They have No Brain cutting sandwiches with aluminum wrap got pieces of aluminum flakes all over , ricobenes never cuts a sandwich wit the wrap on if it had sauce it woulda all blended in and you end up eating all this aluminum toxic

Very good pizza! I ordered the Deep-Dish Sausage pizza, and it was delicious, though it can be filling. As for service, it was good, and it’s a relatively small place that’s comfortable for a quick bite. I would definitely come back!

The Italian beef was definitely a unique take on it and it was pretty good for the style. A different flavor profile but didn’t mind it. Pizza was bad. Very unfortunate for a place that claims to that being one of their specialties. Minimal sauce on the pizza and ate like it’s been sitting there for days. Minimal ambiance inside and service was definitely not going out of their way to make you feel welcome.

I've been a Bridgeport resident and Freddies lover my entire life! The food here is so good, legit can't complain about any of it. The fries are always crispy. The sandwiches of the week are great. Soups are so filling. The people are always so down to earth and nice. The reason for my rating is: IT'S ALWAYS DIRTY. Sometimes I go and sit for my lunch, and each time, every table dirty asf. Once, I told the cashier, she cleaned like 3/4 tables, and left the rest dirty. I went today to grab something quick (Yes, I know it's Valentines Day, ya girl had to work late), yet again, EVERY table was dirty. At this point, it's like the norm for here, and I'm tired of saying something that's visually obvious. We sat at the least dirty table and had our din din. Napkins all over the floor and sitting next to tables with someones food droppings. Each time I've gone, it's not busy, and I've sat for about 30mins-1hour eating w no one trying to clean up. It's like they don't want anyone to dine in and from the other bad reviews I see, they get the same gist. It's not the welcoming place I grew up at anymore. They really just want to be a takeout spot n not cater to people sitting in. I hope this review doesn't turn people away from coming to get food here. The food is usually fire and at a great price. I would just order for pick up instead.

Been here so many time and always a good experience. Driving through Illinois last time took a two hour detour just to eat the steak sandwich

It's a total shame that this place has gone DOWNHILL. It used to be a neighborhood spot but now it's anything but neighborhood people!! I don't know who they are trying to cater to with all the alcohol and CBD infused crap! I know it's gotten really dark. The ONLY reason I came in today was for the BCA night. Outside of that, I stay away. They got rid of the pop machine and put a 5 gallon water jug and you have to buy bottles or cans. The menu board is gone. The music is something you would hear at a Quinceañera or a Mexican festival. The quality of food is below average and NONE of the regular staff works here anymore. If you're not familiar with the old Freddie's you might wander in here after a Sox game BUT you'd be better off at Cork and Kerry or Turtles. Sorry Freddie's you let us neighborhood people down!

Place done went down use to be one of my favorite ...just got off the phone with the manager she refused to give me my money back because I order food and ...told the lady what I wanted on my food but she put what she wanted ..people always pay for your food with a credit card or debit card so you can dispute this behavior.. business like this doesn't care about you all they want is your money and you to deal with the fucked up attitudes that they hire .. Rico beanies is rite up the street better food better people..I would never support this nonsense and advise you not because it's only a matter of time before they do it to you ..

I love their Chicken Limon over Fusili Pasta which is large enough for two persons to share. I heard it is da coach Mike Ditka's favorite dish here. My other must order is the Veggie Pizza which is a thin crust. The thin crust is always perfect and soft. You can also order various pizza by the slice. I also enjoy their Italian Sausage, Italian Beef, or Meatball sandwiches. Service is always excellent.

When did the pizza recipe change? The crust, sauce, cheese, sausage... everything is different and not for the better

What can I not say about this place! You know it's a good place when the fire station and police force comes to eat here!

Not exactly sure what is so fabulous about this place, it was very average especially for a place with such high praise. Pizza was very average, the meat balls on the sub tasted like they had zero seasoning, and I just ate it with a fork because the bread was so soaked from sitting there it wasn't worth trying to eat with my hands. As a visitor to Chicago, I had better pizza at the Navy Pier at "Frankie's By The Slice" which is not a good sign. *** I don't know who decided to cut pizzas like this but unless asked pizza should be cut in triangles

Some of the best Italian ice in the city! Cheap but tasty pizza. It's my favorite any time spot. The restaurant is big enough for multiple patrons. It has seating inside and a patio in the summer. Great customer service.

One of my first date experiences in Bridgeport and it was perfect. Pizza & pasta always on point and so are the CBD drinks!!! If you choose a slice of pizza only, get ready to eat because those are nice sized portions

We have been going to Freddie's since they opened! Their food is awesome, love the beef, slices of pizza, etc., my hubby loves the Italian ice! So many good things on the menu! I love Italian food ! Bridgeport wouldn't be Bridgeport without Freddie's! The daughters took over & are doing a great job! Keeping the tradition alive! You will never be disappointed here! I have been coming here since I was a kid. Pizza on Friday nights was always Freddie's extra cheese pizza. Now, we are so lucky that Freddie's served BCA lunch everyday and the kids get to enjoy great options. We haven't had a bad meal here!

Food is awesome! Italian ice is some of the best around! Besides the obvious the girls running it are hands down the best!! A great part of the neighborhood

Always fresh and huge. Delicious flavors where you can actually taste the fresh ingredients. Family atmosphere with a welcoming staff. We go here for weekend outings, lazy nights when you just don't want to cook, and have even used them for catering. Always, always consistent with yummy food. Kids love the pastas, too! Everyone has an opinion on pizza, but this is definitely my husband's go-to. Slices are always ready for him, which is nice. Get the big breaded steak and an ice. Their ice is so flavorful, too! Not watered down and nice and smooth.

I came here before years ago. I remember it being a LOT better. I was in the area and decided to get something quick. I ordered a WS burger special, fries and drink included. It was terrible. I only ate it bc I was in a hurry and had to leave. I would suggest to stick with the pizza slices.

Great place to grab a quick slice and a delicious infused Italian Ice! Freddie's is always packed. Everyone was patient. My husband said they have the best Char Chicken Sandwich! We sat in and enjoyed our food. Always a great time!

Ooow... Freddie's has so much more thank pizza that's good! Once the best pizza spots on the Southside. Period. Great salads and a great dine-in experience. The service team are always working because they stay busy. One of my favs forever!

Used to be my go to pizza spot growing up(have been in south side for 30+ years), although unfortunately it has become an after thought. Positives, the place itself is nice and is pretty spacious. To preface the negative , I barely ever give this low of reviews. What I don't like - quality/portions of the food has diminished over the years. Food is inconsistent, prices have skyrocketed - even before inflation. Why go here when you can go to ricobenes/Punkys/etc. I also think it's ridiculous you have a manager on yelp, telling customers to stay home/cook yourself. How is that professional? Whether or not she feels justified, this isn't the place to get into fits with customers.

I'm surprised the Yelp's average rating isn't better, but I guess my experience is limited to getting take out and the sandwiches. I had actually been avoiding Freddie's because of this, but I am really glad we tried it out. In the past 2 months, I been three times. I usually call my order in and pick it up 10 minutes later. They are always so busy for lunch, but they get the food out fast! I have twice gotten the breaded steak sandwich and also gotten the chicken parm sandwich. They are sooooo good. There's nothing to complain about. The bread is nice. You can get them with sweet and/or spicy peppers. There's nothing bad to say about the marinara sauce. I like their breaded steak sandwich better than the chicken parm sandwich. The breaded steak is tender and flavorful. Nice texture, not too salty. They are both very messy and you will definitely have to wash your hands after you eat them. They will not be easy to eat in a car. The sandwiches are big and even the regular size is good to share (if you're not starving). I could probably eat a whole regular sandwich, but I would be stuffed and want to sleep for the rest of the day. I would highly recommend Freddie's breaded steak sandwich and we certainly plan to go back every few weeks for it.

One of the animatronics bit some kids head off , 10/10 experience would absolutely 100% recommend.

This place has some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I went in a couple days ago just for a slice of pizza. I waited almost 35 minutes for them to take the already made pizza out of the oven and put it jn a bag. I just tried to call in an order to avoid the wait and they had me on hold for 5 minutes before I hung up! Such a shame I've noticed the quality of this place going down for a couple years now.

The owners could care less that there's hair in their food or that it's raw..... Over and over again. They won't scam me again

This was very disappointing- I asked for a breakfast wrap with no egg- couldn't make it- the sausage was spicy and I don't eat eggs. My husband did say the minestrone soup was good. I went to redeem my birthday cake voucher and they had no cake; seriously I had to settle for a substandard brownie. Freebie or not I won't be coming back.

Ordered a pizza over the phone for carry out. Quick and easy process. Went in to pick up and noticed that not one worker was wearing a mask. There were at least 5 worker upfront, no masks and no partition separating from customers :( Now as for the pizza, taste was okay. Wish the cheese extended to the crust a bit more and the toppings were more evenly distributed. Not a bad pizza, but not one that I'll crave again. We also spontaneously ordered a small mango Italian ice that I ended up really enjoying. So definitely grab one of those while you're there.

I have order from Freddie's twice so far only dessert items. I found this restaurant on Grubhub but it was titled dessert bar. When I called because they use their drivers to delivery the orders and it was super delivered I realized it was Freddie's. Freddie's is one of those local spots that are in an area with a lot of the same restaurants. I usually have to drive past a bunch to get this restaurant so I usually wouldn't stop by. Fyi, on Grubhub the boozy milkshake was $15 at the restaurant it costs around $10. On this occasion I order the vanilla boozy milkshake and the hubs ordered watermelon Italian ice. I love their boozy milkshakes . I will be definitely stopping by again in the future for another shake! I wasn't impressed with their Italian ice. I have had better at other local spots. They offer other food items like donuts, pizza, pasta, french fries, and Italian beef. I had the fried mini donuts before and they were ok.

Been coming here for over 10 years, so I am relatively new to the fan club. Definitely love their food, have yet to get anything I didn't think was excellent. Consistent quality and service, the staff is helpful and friendly no matter how busy it gets -and it does get very busy here! Their slice of the week is worth looking at, it is sometimes super creative, other times more conventional topping combos. The garlic sauce we ask for whenever we order the fried mushrooms is fantastic.

Today's thick, sausage pizza slice was underwhelming. It was salty and not fresh. The homemade, pineapple gelato was a hefty medium serving, a great deal for the price. The flavor was quite good. Customer service tonight was meh. Freddie's was busy as always, including a half-dozen police officers.

My deep dish pizza slice was raw!! Dough wasn't fully cooked!! Awful!! I had to throw it away.

Normally I would recommend this restaurant. Delivery service is normally fast, but id give the food a 3, thin crust pizza is decent, as well as Italian ice. Wings and pasta are trash! Not to mention the customer service by staff as well as managers is sub par. I ordered delivery and my food wasn't cooked thoroughly and she told me there was nothing she could do! Website says they close at midnight, but she was saying 11. It doesn't take much to fix or adjust errors to accommodate guests. Won't be ordering here again! ‍

The weekly $5 sandwich special was the char chicken with melted mozzarella cheese on garlic bread. The chicken was good and seasoned nicely and the melted cheese in every bite was really good. The garlic flavor on the bread was just right. Sometimes garlic bread can be overpowering. They could add a little more giardiniera. The one thing they could do is slather a little mayonnaise to the bread. When first biting into the sandwich on the ends is a bit dry and no chicken. So it's biting into a plain piece of toast. All in all the sandwich is good. I'll try it again and request mayonnaise if they don't add it.

Pizza is always fresh and local. Tastes flavorful and filling. Price is just right. Supports local school parties too.

Gluten friendly pizza! Bridgeport doesn't have too many gluten free options so it's nice to get something here! Very cheesy with crispy crust. The crust is a bit crunchy and hard sometimes. Also love the Italian ice.

The Italian ice is the best, the food is also good. This is a god place to stop by if you are in the area. They them out you won't be disappointed

I had a slice of pizza and a beef sandwich. Too bad the slice was cold it was very tasty but I am sure I would have enjoyed it if it was warm. My big issue was the beef sandwich nearly 13 bucks which is about 5 dollars more then anywhere else in the city, I wouldn't mind paying that price if the if the quality was top notch but 50 percent of the sandwich was fat. They need to trim off some fat it was disgusting.

A few years back they were rocking and rolling orders out. Now that isn't the case. We ordered boneless wings and they were burnt as well as super tiny. And recently I waited 15min for a frozen infusEd lemonade that had hardly any alcohol either . the staff was casually taking there time with no motivation. Garbage.

30 minute wait for a hot dog fries and slice of pepperoni. 20 minutes for the hot dog and fries. By the time that was ready the sold all the Pepp slices so I had to wait an additional 10 minutes. By the time I got home (a few blocks away) the fries were cold and the hot dog was soggy. This shouldn't happen with such a basic order.

I come here often for lunch. It's pretty good, although I do believe it's kind of pricey. If the price for their dishes were slightly lower I would have definitely give them a five star. I had their Tortellini Chicken soup and their Grilled Cheese sandwich. Both items were fantastic. The soup was hearty. It contained shredded chicken, big sized tortellini pasta, celery, carrots and seasoned well. They definitely did not skimp on the soup and the flavor. It was a very good soup! The grilled cheese sandwich was delicious! The sandwich was made with American and Provolone Cheese. Perfect combination! Nicely melted on a toasty bread. The food is really good here. Great place to visit.

It was near where I was working so I stopped in. Had the special burger, it was really good. Fries were ok. Pizza was good. Plan on stopping back for a steak sangwich, allegedly the best in the city. We'll see how it compares to ricobenes. Def going back. Its nice and clean and decent parking.

Had Italian ice cream there after a ridiculously long wait. Young ice cream servers were taking their time. OK quality but would not recommend when full.

Amazing place to eat or pick up, I came when it was warm outside and they had fresh pizza we had to try them all!!! Jerk pizza was perfect and spicy, cheese the shake was a must so you better get there and have a fire shake, they do seasonal shakes so we had the Apple Pie shake.

The go to spot. Slices are always spot on, other choices on the menu always good, great Italian lemonades all season any season

Awesome food. We had a beef plus a combo beef and sausage plus fries and 2 beers during happy hour. Beers were $3.88 for 2 Miller lights. But the total for all that was $42.00. Awesome quality but out of this world expensive. Never going back because i can't afford it

The pizza was good but tasted like it had been sitting there all day. I was intrigued to try the new Italian beef egg rolls. But I would definitely Recommend to just pass on them. They were 4/$8.95. They were super greasy and I couldn't even eat them. Some were under cooked and raw and some were busted open and the meat was burnt. I was super disappointed. I haven't gone to Freddie's in awhile, but this is not how I remember the quality and that makes me sad.

I still love this place! Definitely sign up with your email as they'll let you know about deals they have throughout the year. They just had a "everything is 50 percent off" sale this week which was awesome. They also send you rewards every so often which is great. If you're in the area, make sure to stop by!
