"I'm watching the Bertucci family convert the private events space above Freddies into Tria Sorelle at 701 W. 31st Street on the second floor, a 48-seat full-service restaurant with a bar that will offer slightly more upscale, traditional takes on Italian food and celebrate their Southern Italian heritage with fresh pastas. They plan weekend brunch, will serve LaVazza coffee, are still interviewing chefs, and have put signage up announcing an opening later this month though they may delay until the New Year. The idea was teased last year for a location at 3300 S. Halsted Street but was shelved because costs were too high; depending on how diners receive Tria on 31st Street, they hope it might breathe life into the Halsted space. "Tria" is a made-up word referencing the three Bertucci sisters—Stephanie, Christie, and Brittany—and the family is taking special care to keep the food affordable and the atmosphere unpretentious so it remains accessible to their regular customers." - Ashok Selvam
