Friday was the first BOOKCLUB meeting of the year and we were excited. It was a good friends turn to pick the location and book. So, she went with Fado Irish Pub & Restaurant. Let me tell you about my experience. Well, here we go:
Fado Irish Pub is located on the High End Shopping area in Buckhead. On my way, I passed by some of the most expensive stores in Atlanta. The pub sits directly next to the Buckhead Library. They offered Valet parking but, we went with parking at the library for $7, which would cover the parking for the night.
As we waited for the other girls, I started for the bar just to have a drink as we waited. However, mins later the girls were there and we were seated in a nice little corner away from the noise. I looked around and admired the space and the music. They had a DJ playing during happy hour and was still there when we left 8:00PM.
We were greeted by our waitress Shana! OMG she was AWESOME! She didn't missed a beat, she suggested the best menu items on the list and I was listening because I was hungry, LOL.
She gave us different menus: Drinks and Food. On the dinner menu, everything in red was happy hour items and were $6/each. Most of the girls ordered appetizers, including me, lol
I ordered the Roasted red pepper hummus, which was garnished with feta cheese, mint oil with a choice of boxty wedges, flatbread or veggies. I went with the boxty wedges. OMG! Boxty wedges was almost like a pita chip but softer and the flavor was AWESOME! I ate the wedges so quick, she had to bring me some more and a second order was $1.
As far as cocktails, I went with a Manhattan! I hadn't enjoyed a Manhattan in years. Great stiff drink. A Manhattan is a Black Bush Irish Whiskey, Carpano Antica Vermouth, Angostura bitters, garnished with a Luxardo cherry Classic Version with Crown Royal Rye. I also had water.
I wanted to order something a tad bit different for dinner, but couldn't decide, so I went with a burger. lol. I ordered the Classic Cheesy Double Stack, two Angus beef patties, American cheese, lettuce, NO tomato, EXTRA pickles on a potato bun. My side was the farmhouse salad with blue cheese and no tomato. The farmhouse salad mixed greens, cucumber, red onions, dried cranberries, toasted almonds and Asiago cheese. The burger was the BOMB, very flavorful!
I had no room for dessert. LOL and neither did the girls. We sat for a while and discussed our book. We laughed and enjoyed ourselves. Before the night was out, I observed the scenery and the decor of the old books and bikes in the restaurants(Pictures attached).
We finished the night with a great picture outside, among the beautiful light on the trees. Thanks Shana and Fado!
