Find the Best Matcha Tea in Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"The small Chicago chain’s only Minnesota location offers three Rishi matcha grades in its lattes ranging from Organic to Imperial. Just as in light to dark coffee roasts, the higher the grade, the deeper the flavor. Included in the new menu introduced last week, the Maple Sea Salt Matcha latte tastes like autumn." - Alex Lodner

North Loop Gets a Fresh Coffee and Tea Shop | Eater Twin Cities

"I'm excited that Chicago-based Fairgrounds Coffee & Tea is opening at 120 3rd Avenue North in Minneapolis' North Loop on Saturday, July 14. The shop boasts a vast selection of coffee and tea and, unlike most coffee shops that partner with one or two roasters, uses several roasters from across the country — including locally roasted coffee, Spyhouse, Chicago's Dark Matter, Verve from LA, Stumptown from Portland and Colectivo from Milwaukee. Fairgrounds will serve Rishi Tea and several cold-brewed and sparkling offerings, plus kombucha on tap and Instagram-baited matcha drinks. Hand in hand with the drinks is an entire section of toasts, including the obligatory avocado, along with rice bowls, eggs, sandwiches, salads and more." - Joy Summers

Fairgrounds is such a fun coffee spot with a great mix of cozy indoor seating and a relaxed outdoor patio. The salted honey cold brew is outstanding, and the breakfast options are just as good — the breakfast bowl with aioli is a standout. They also have cute little items for sale and the coffee passport program, which is a nice touch. Staff is warm and welcoming, making it an easy place to keep coming back to.

I absolutely LOVED this place! Besides parking being somewhat difficult to find in this area, everything from the food, service and atmosphere was on point. The girl who took my order was patient with me as it was my first time here and I needed a second to see what I wanted. The fruit in my yogurt bowl was fresh, the coffee was tasty, the place itself and restrooms were clean. I super recommend 10/10 🤩

Edit: The brass cups have been replaced with plastic ones!! Yay! I visited on a Saturday morning around 9 am, and it was packed, making it hard to find a table. A large group had taken up many of the chairs and tables, so it’s definitely a lively place on weekends. I ordered the sweet potato bowl, which was delicious. However, we didn’t get any utensils at first, so we waited a bit until they were brought over. Since it’s so busy, a self-serve area for utensils might be helpful in the future. The water cups have a brass looking finish that gave the water an unusual metal taste, so I couldn’t drink it at all. Overall, it’s a fun place, and I’d probably enjoy the food more if I ordered delivery to avoid the weekend crowd.

Obsessed! The decorations were beautiful, the big windows are great, the baristas were super helpful when we asked questions, the breakfast food was amazing, the cortado was exceptional -- we loved it. My pictures don't do it justice.

Stopped in mid-afternoon for a coffee and pastry. Seating was full, so I grabbed my items to go. Definitely a hip and trending place. My Vietnamese iced coffee was tasty, but a bit on the pricey side for $7. My pastry was delicious, although I couldn’t find the pricing on the menu or in the display case.

I came in recently and ordered a cappuccino, specifically requesting it in a ceramic cup. When my drink was ready, it was served in a paper cup. I reminded the barista of my request, and instead of a simple apology, I was met with a flippant response: “They’re all cups anyway—ceramic or paper.” Then she poured the drink into a ceramic cup. This response was dismissive and rude. The experience left me regretting both my purchase and the tip I had left. There are many coffee shops in NL, and if this one cares about its customers, I strongly recommend employing staff that is more courteous and respectful.

Went for some coffee on a cold, rainy evening! Perfect atmosphere for an afternoon of quiet reading! The interior was as eclectic as their coffee, would definitely visit again!

First time swinging by as I was in the area and always up for a new coffee joint. Cute atmosphere plenty of street parking available. Order a 16oz blended mocha cold brew. The barista defaulted in asking if I wanted whole milk and I told her no is 1% a option she stated typically they have skim but was out my husband is lactose so I choose to go with soy. Paid everything is fine until my name was called and was told they were out of the chocolate for the mocha and made me a caramel instead. It would have been nice to be told this when ordering rather than receiving the drink which was already made. Again barista when handing the drink offered for a different flavor but I had to go since I was on a lunch break. Overall I plan to visit again if in the area just be aware that ingredients may be out.
