Inside Downtown’s Beefy New Pan Latin Spot From Celeb Chef Richard Sandoval | Eater Chicago

"Located inside the Fairmont Chicago near Millennium Park in the Loop, I find Toro to be a pan‑Latin restaurant at 200 N. Columbus Drive that shares dishes with other Toro locations. The Chicago menu includes smoked guacamole and swordfish dip (also offered at the Houston location), along with sweet corn empanadas, short rib tacos and a wagyu tiradito; there are various raw‑bar items and the restaurant could also be considered a steakhouse. Cocktails lean pan‑Latin, and the Flaming Coffee is mixed tableside with rum, tequila, or bourbon and served with a flambéed cinnamon‑and‑sugar rim. It is open 6 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday; reservations via OpenTable." - Ashok Selvam

I stayed two nights on a business trip with full day meetings at the AON Center, which is conveniently connected to the hotel via an underground walkway. That connection is especially useful and includes a Starbucks right inside the AON basement lobby.||The hotel delivered exactly what an experienced business traveler expects. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The bathroom and shower were a good size for a downtown Chicago hotel. Front desk and housekeeping service were prompt and friendly throughout the stay. Elevators were fast and reliable, and the location made it easy to move between meetings and other downtown destinations.||The only minor drawback was the lobby bar and restaurant seating spilling into the main walkway between the entrance and the guest elevators. It was not a major issue, but that path should probably remain clear during busy periods.||Overall, this is a dependable and well run option for business travel in Chicago. Comfortable, convenient, and efficient, and I would stay here again.

We stayed at a corner double bedroom. A family next to my room played until early morning and they made severe noise. Unfortunately we couldn’t sleep very well because the wall could block any noise. I would suggest removing dust in the room. Too much dust made our nose clogged. Check in was also not efficient. There was only one receptionist. Check out was also bad. The guy charged me resort fee although I insisted that I already pre-paid. It’s under dispute with Chase Travel. The best thing was dessert menu at Toro. They were fantastic.

I stayed at Fairmont Millennium Park from February 13–15 and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. I don’t typically leave negative reviews, but this stay fell far below expectations for a hotel of this reputation and price point. Immediately after check-in, there was a strong decaying smell coming from the bathroom. A plumber came the next morning and confirmed it was a clogged sink drain. He resolved the blockage and said housekeeping would follow up to properly clean and address the odor. However, when we returned at 9 PM that evening, on Valentine’s Day, the room had not been serviced at all. The bathroom was still unclean, the smell lingered, and the bed hadn’t been made. To make matters worse, my boyfriend had paid extra to have the room decorated for Valentine’s Day, yet basic housekeeping wasn’t completed. It was extremely disappointing. There were also small hairs in the shower and near the sink upon arrival, suggesting the bathroom had not been properly cleaned. One lamp didn’t work, one drawer was broken, and the heat would not go above 73°F, which left us cold after being outside in the Chicago winter. Overall, the room and hotel felt worn and dated. For comparison, I stayed at LondonHouse Chicago on a previous visit, and the experience there was 10x more luxurious, better maintained, and far more aligned with the level of service. This was not the level of service or quality I expected from Fairmont. Very disappointed.

We were pleasantly surprised to have our room upgraded and a late check-out added to our stay. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable and had an amazing view. I had the best facial I've ever had at the Leaf Spa.

Google
I would recommend staying here. It was a great location, easy walk to the magnificent mile & Millennium Park. We used SpotHero find a very affordable covered parking with In-N-Out 24 access that was literally in the building attached to the hotel. Hotel staff was very nice. The room was a nice size, we had a nice view and a little couch in our room. That was nice to sit with a glass of wine and look out on the city, especially because it was 20° outside. The bathroom was very nice with a shower and a bathtub. The restaurant Was really nice for breakfast and the menu look good for dinner, but my wife is Gluten-free, and The only thing I really didn’t like about the hotel was that their menu didn’t seem to take gluten-free very seriously. There were a few items on the menu that said gluten-free, but obviously have gluten in them. But I said the cocktails were really good and the vibe was awesome. Our bartender was very nice. A lady in the bar needs her phone charged, and the bartender grabbed a phone charger out of his bag, And let her borrow it. All in all, It was more than I expected to get for the price. Very nice experience.

Google
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Fairmont Millennium Park and want to start by saying this is a beautiful hotel with outstanding service overall. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and taken care of. Roberto at the front desk was exceptional, warm, professional, and attentive. Mo inside the Toro restaurant also stood out for his kindness and service. The housekeeping staff and the team that assisted with luggage were equally fantastic. Everyone we interacted with made the stay feel special, and we truly appreciate the effort of the entire staff. There is one experience we feel management should be aware of because the hotel deserves the opportunity to address it. During Valentine’s Day breakfast around 10:30 a.m., we were seated at the bar due to what appeared to be an honest seating mistake. A bar employee became visibly upset about guests being seated there. Unfortunately, he expressed his frustration loudly in front of customers, and it escalated into him speaking negatively in Spanish about the situation, which my wife and I understood. The tone was angry and disrespectful, and it created a very awkward atmosphere for everyone seated at the bar. We completely understand that mistakes happen in busy restaurants, especially on a holiday, but the way the frustration was handled in front of guests was unprofessional and ultimately ruined what should have been a relaxing breakfast. Situations like that are better handled privately and calmly among staff. We’re sharing this not to attack anyone, but because the hotel is otherwise excellent and deserves to maintain the high standard reflected by the rest of the team. Management may want to speak with the employee about handling stressful situations more professionally in front of guests. Aside from that incident, our stay was truly fantastic, and we would return. The service from the rest of the staff more than showed the level of care this hotel is capable of delivering.

I stayed last summer for a medical conference. Concierge Gail Walker reached out soon after I booked my stay to offer their services. They were very quick with responses, even calling me when email was too difficult to respond as I was busy working in the hospital. They asked my goals of the trip and anything I’d like to do. I let them know my fiancé was with me and that my partner deserved a romantic weekend as they took time out of their schedule to drive me to Chicago and back. Gail handled the weekend beautifully! From helping schedule a couples massage to finding a top rated restaurant in my fiancé’s preferred cuisine and booked the reservation for us. I also greatly enjoyed the Gold Lounge as well as the attention to detail from the staff. Overall very pleasant stay and I’d love to stay at this and other Fairmont hotels in the future. Thanks for the great stay! (Photos are from the Gold Lounge snacks that were included, and the welcome romantic chocolates and bubbly set up by my awesome concierge!)

Google
The staff was so engaged at all levels from check-in to check-out. The attendant on my floor found me 3 times to point me in the direction of my hallway when coming off the elevator. She was very kind and observant. Room was comfy and clean and what you'd expect from a high-end hotel stay.

Yelp
Stayed this week for a work conference held at the hotel. It can be daunting to know your entire two days will be spent in different rooms in the hotel you're in. The Fairmont is so well designed for this, it didn't feel so claustrophobic. We had different events, on different floors, and the catering was well done, not easy for a group of 400. From the moment I arrived, fantastic check-in staff, through all the events and meals, I felt well taken care of. The room was spotless, and the Nespresso machine was a huge bonus. Comfy bed and pillows, plus a separate bath + shower, plus robes. We had dinner at Toro one night, and the experience was top notch. The cocktails are expertly crafted, and the food is amazing. Get the smoked guacamole, trust me. All in all, I would absolutely stay here again, thank you for a wonderful visit.

Yelp
The Fairmont Chicago, Millennium Park does a cute Winter popup called The Lodge. Pros: - The decor is so adorable. It feels like you traveled to a ski lodge without having to travel out of town. They offer a lot of photo worthy opportunities. - This is the perfect spot for families! - The homemade marshmallow was delicious and massive. They offer you a s'more with whatever package you purchase which is a perk! Cons: - The vegetables selected weren't of the highest quality. It tasted like they grabbed the random vegetables from the kitchen they didn't want. They didn't pair well with the cheese in the fondue.

Yelp
We were in town for our Smart Set conclave and we stayed at this hotel. It was absolutely terrible! First of all we asked for a suite with two double beds. When we got there, they gave us a king size bed we had to stay in the king size bed the first night and then move to the room that we originally asked for the second night. Who likes to pack unpack and then unpack again on vacation. Secondly the food was some of the worst food that I have ever in my life had in Chicago. I now live in Arizona, but I was born and raised in the Chicago area. So I know Chicago has some good food! Thirdly, there's only one restaurant in the restaurant in the hotel, it opens for breakfast and then closes down and opens for dinner. The bar doesn't open until 5 o'clock. How are you going to have a convention and you can't get drinks from the hotel lobby bar until 5 o'clock? I was thoroughly disgusted with the hotel and I will never stay here again. It's a shame because the Fairmont here in Scottsdale is fabulous.but they can keep that hotel in Chicago. It does not live up to the Fairmont reputation. Oh yeah, I almost forgot! One of my girlfriends fell and sprained her ankle. I called the front desk the concierge several people and no one answered the phone. Granted it was 1:30 in the morning when this happened but there should've been someone there to address a possible Injury like this.

Yelp
Overall, great stay! On the plus side: Great location! Very centrally located. A bag of popcorn was free waters were in our room. The mattress on our king bed was comfortably firm and the Le Labo toiletries were great. Hotel was really for us upon arrival and upgraded our suite to a signature suite. Housekeeping kept the room clean. The area where we slept was quiet. We were on a very high floor (35) and heard no noise. The yogurt parfait at the coffee shop in the lobby was quite good! On the downside: The pull out couch where our kid slept was monstrously uncomfortable. Get a pillow top for the mattress or don't offer this bedding option! Also, the front desk had the bedding for the couch bed sent to our room but we were told someone would set the bed up and no one came. When we called to ask for help, we were told housekeeping had left for the day. We got a roll away bed the next night that was better but not super comfortable. We had breakfast in the Toro restaurant and the food was not amazing. The steel cut oatmeal was watery and one of the blackberries was moldy. Also their espresso drinks are really bitter. Overall, I would stay here again but only if we are traveling without kids.

Yelp
What a rip off This place is far too expensive for what it is. Had to contact the front desk for soap, shampoo which should have been stocked. $31 for a breakfast burrito plus delivery fees is a joke. The coffee is gross and the "complimentary" espressos is maybe 4 ounces at best? I should have taken a photo but there was a strange thing that looked like a scab on the art above one of the beds. The dudes who work down stairs are super awesome and helpful when looking for a cab and that's why this place gets two stars I get the location but so not worth the price

Yelp
I came here for a work conference and therefore just picked the hotel due to the ease. I was very happy with my stay here. The hotel is very environmentally conscious including their water bottles which were made to be easily recycled and reused. Our room was really nice and big and the shower worked very well. The bathroom was also huge! Most the rooms had bathtubs and a shower which is so great. Their lotion, shampoo, and conditioner was so nice! One of the few places where I did hesitate to use the products. I will say that we got a view room and I didn't think it was that great so not sure if it's worth the extra money/night. Everyone was very friendly and even accommodated a very early check in and late check out without hassle. It's located pretty close to most things including Cloud Gate, the Art Institute, and the river. I'd definitely come and stay here again.

Yelp
This hotel is downtown. When checking in I found Steven at the hotel desk was not overly friendly. I felt he didn't want to be there,m. I was on fifth floor. Overall my room was nice and clean. However, when I pulled the hairdryer out of the fairmont bag I instantly noticed how grimy the handle was. It could use a good cleaning or maybe needs to be replaced. Overall the hotel was ok. For the price they need to focus more on the fine details. Otherwise, everything was ok.

Yelp
This hotel is excellent! Amazing service and response, very professional and friendly staff. Rooms are perfect. Plenty of space, great size tv, amazing ac and heat. Flawless bathroom with walk-in shower and tub. If being picky, maybe the working desk could be larger. Yes, valet is $80, but it has in and out privileges (this is huge!), and they are quick and have a flawless way to get your car with a simple text. Location is one of the best I've found. All around amazing experience.

Yelp
I stayed here for two nights while working at a conference for my company, which is downtown as well. They gave us an excellent staff rate and I preferred staying here over the Hyatt. For an upscale hotel, I had mixed feelings about it. Below are my observations: Because I'm not one of their preferred guests, I got a room on a lower floor and my view wasn't that great. Overpriced snacks and drinks No fridge you could actually use No gift shop, convenience store, nothing Small shower, low water pressure No laundry/cleaners bag (it's the little things!) No pool/hot tub (they do have a fitness center) Parking is ridiculously expensive Limited restaurant (new Latin one coming in the fall) On a more positive note: What I call sexy music playing in the lobby on a loop Modern, Spacious room Loved having a tub and a shower Swivel tv so you could watch from any angle Environmentally friendly toiletries which smelled great Had a bathroom scale! Friendly, helpful staff Nice Nespresso machine Comfortable king size bed Excellent breakfast/loved their crispy potatoes! Overall it was fine for my purpose. My husband joined me and we agreed that we would stay here sometime when we do a staycation and want to be downtown.

Yelp
4.5/5 Stayed here for a work conference and was very pleased. It was my first time going to a conference that was provided for by my company so I felt very spoiled not being on my own dime and having my own room! My one complaint is I had a single room which was connected by another so the walls were very thin, I could hear my neighbors conversation and every single cough and sniffle he made. I would connect my music to the TV and try to drown out noises while we were both "at home". The shower and bath was very nice, no complaints! The bed and furniture was also very comfy and my view was very cool. The catering during our event was inclusive of being dairy-free and gluten-less - Staff was great when we had to interact.
google avatar

Jeremy L.

Yelp
Call me crazy, but I think it's insane to have a fridge in the room that guests can't use. It only serves to sell guests overpriced beverages that the CVS across the street also provides. Doors or walls are super thin. Loud room. Besides that it was clean and the staff were nice. Give up on selling overpriced snacks and drinks. It's a dick move.

Yelp
We celebrated our first year anniversary here. Let me tell you the service was so kind. Everyone was very nice and our suite was amazing. It was overlooking Buckingham fountain. The room was very clean and spacious. Everyone who greeted us was nice, they were very accommodating. When we had room service they were very punctual. Everything was pretty fast! Their dining area was closed but the bar was open. They're opening a new restaurant called Torro so excited to check it out again. Overall such a grand experience. Highly recommend people come and experience The Fairmont!

Yelp
I had the pleasure of stopping here for a work related luncheon. Awesome employees , awesome experience. I cannot rate the hotel as a stay over place but from what I experienced very nice place
google avatar

Terrance P.

Yelp
Very centralized location to all main attractions, buses, subways, etc. My room was clean but had a musty odor. No bed bugs! Bathroom is large with separate toilet area, separate shower and separate tub. Good water flow which is a plus for me. I hate the trickling of water at most places I've stayed at. Mattress firmness was firm but not hard. Pillows could be firmer (just my preference). Not too keen on the thin comforter. I had a corner room which provided beautiful views of the skyline and a bit of the river.

Yelp
Except for the noise coming through the connecting doors between rooms, this place was great. I met the housekeeper 2 of the 4 days we stayed and she was super sweet and fixed up our room just right! (Tip your housekeepers!) The location is ideal, walking distance to most everything and a short Uber ride to the Convention Center. Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. We didn't use the TV but we did move mini-bar items out of the fridge so we could us it for our leftovers.

Yelp
I recently stayed at the Fairmont Millennium Park in Chicago while in town for work. I usually stay at the Renaissance on Wacker or the Blackstone on South Michigan Ave. But, the Fairmont was one of the conference hotels. It has more of an historic vibe. My room was decent. I had a nice view of the lake, Shedd Aquarium and Soldier Field. The hotel is really just too traditional for my taste. I prefer something with a much more modern vibe. There is carpet in the room (I much prefer solid surface). The shower was super duper tiny. The bed was comfortable enough but the pillows were terrible. I light as well had crepe paper as my pillows! Also, there was a fridge but it was all filled up with really expensive stuff to purchase from the hotel. That is a huge pet peeve of mine. The hotel staff all seemed friendly enough. I do give them "extra points" for having multi-use shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and even lotion. I'm glad they have gotten away from single use plastics. The location was okay. Overall my stay was fine, but I wouldn't choose to stay at this hotel again.

Yelp
3.5 stars. What a dream! I love Fairmont hotels. They're so high class, and I always wish I could stay longer. I stayed at the Millennium Park Fairmont briefly for work, though downtown Chicago was a nightmare to navigate in a car. Definitely had a panic attack trying to find the correct parking garage and get to the airport. Decent city views, though. Staff was overall friendly, and the bed felt luxurious, but a few details annoyed me. Bathtub was delightful, but it kept slowly draining despite the stopper. Nespresso machine was handy, but there were no cups in the room. Not my favorite Fairmont location. Then again, I didn't get a chance to try the restaurants and bars. Next time, hopefully!

Yelp
I was at a conference at a different hotel, but stayed here because of room availability. I had a great experience at this place. Here are some tips: 1. No fridge, but if you ask for one they can bring one to you Kim 2. They have have umbrellas at the desk 3. Valet staff are the sweetest 4. Restaurant always smelled like seafood. Not sure why. 5. Try their waffles and Nutella whips 6. Great location !! 7. Friendly staff 8. Creepy vibe 9. Could use some updates. My door kept sticking and I had to slam it shut. It would have been nice if there were a little convenience store or something. No pool or hot tub which made me sad. All in all, I loved this place and would return!

Yelp
First off let me say that the staff and cleanliness are on point 5 Stars. specially if you're using your amex. Perks are great. However no one should stay here until the hotel goes through some heavy remodel to update the place. Also the lobby is something someone would do if they were doing the absolute cheapest decor and design with super cheap patio furniture very uncomfortable with a 2 hr wait till we catch our flight. This is the kinda of patio furniture you find on clearance at target or Wayfair, made for apartment patio furniture at best. You get the point. Don't stay here until they spend some money.

Yelp
Excellent service by staff. Maya at the front desk was friendly, kind and accommodating. The room was clean and beautiful with an excellent lake view. We spent three nights and everyone was amazing from housekeeping to bellhop, to valet, to the front desk. Close to downtown and walking distance from everything that is to see in Chicago.

Yelp
It's a very nice hotel good location and the staff are very nice and friendly. The only thing I didn't like were their toilet paper. They were hard not your usual soft toilet paper but, again overall it was good. Got a great deal and it came with a breakfast allowance. The breakfast was in their restaurant called Columbus Tap. The staff there are super sweet. Food was great and weird. The weird part was the corn beef hash. It was prepared very differently than what I'm used to but, it was good.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my experience at the Fairmont Hotel. My stay happened over the Christmas holiday where I ended up getting a one bedroom suite on the 28 floor for roughly $295.00 a night (tax and urban experience tax excluded). I have to say the room was spacious, clean and well appointed. The checkin was fast and pain free. During my visit, I ordered room service once and paid through the nose for it BUT I knew exactly what I was getting into. The one snag that happened was resolved quickly. I accidentally moved a few of the snack boxes in the wet bar in my room. Apparently, the snacks are electronically monitored, meaning if you disturb them, it is assumed you ate them. So, in my case, I was charged for two of them by mistake. When I emailed the hotel about the matter, they immediately reversed the charges and issued me a new bill. I have to say this is a really nice hotel. I loved having a CVS directly across the street. Also, when I asked for a mini-fridge, the hotel staff brought it right up. I'd absolutely stay again.

Yelp
4 night stay and it was one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in both in terms of the finish of the room and service received. The room (and tbh the hotel itself) was old and shabby. It's in desperate need of a renovation so maybe I was just asking for the incessant construction noise from 9-4pm that I could hear in my room. In fact, as I type this review now from my room, the drilling noise is maddening! I talked to customer service over the phone yesterday and all they would offer was a comp of a couple cups of coffee and pastries. When we actually went to the front desk this morning chat, they said they had no record of it and wouldn't even offer us that. They just said there was nothing they could do about the noise. If they read this and respond, I'm sure they'll point to being given $15 credit to their coffee shop as recompense but firstly, $15 for all this noise? In what world is $15 meaningful in any way? Second, at check-in we were told and given a sheet by the front desk that we had a $5 daily credit to said shop. This morning's front desk staff said that info was wrong (conveniently). The frustrating thing is that they knew there would be construction yet they still put us in the room RIGHT above where the construction was happening. Who does that? People who don't care. Onto the room itself. If I were to take a picture of everything wrong with my room, I'd have 50 so these 2 sum it up pretty well. Look at the rust and grime on the AC vent! That door handle belongs in the trash! Wallpaper is bubbling pretty much everywhere. Baseboards are chipped and look like they were last painted in the 80s. This is a room that has no business being given to guests paying Fairmont prices. Budget hotel? Maybe, but even then I think they'd be nicer! Bright spots were the location and the cafe & housekeeping staff.

Andy G.

Yelp
Hotel was very nice. The in room dining was $$$$$ for MEH food. The price of the food I ordered in the menu said $20...on receipt it was $32. I ordered the Shrimp pasta pomodoro and 1 can of pop. The pop itself was $8 lol...then on top of all that they charge a $8 delivery fee AND automatically add a 20% tip. All total it was over $60 for box pasta and 5 measly little shrimp. Absolute joke!!

Yelp
This rating is based on expectations associated with the Fairmont brand and the cost of a night's stay versus the experience. It's primarily based on a series of daily unauthorized charges on my card and the majority of the hotel staff's inability to fix their mistake. I wasted hours of my trip and additional time after I left dealing with these issues. The hotel was relatively clean. It was decorated nicely for the holidays. There are amenities: room service, mini bar and snacks for a price, a gym, restaurant and bar onsite, and comfortable beds. There was no water bottle filling station except in the gym or in the training rooms. No complementary water in the rooms. The rooms are clearly in need of some updates. Certain floors are remodeled. Unfortunately, I was on a floor which was not. The rooms are older and while it was clean enough, there was no way I'd ever get in the bath tub. It had stray hairs and just looked like it needed a good scrub. The baseboards were dirty and corners of the room were dusty. My blind had a brown stain on it. There was no magnifying mirror. The tv was a pain. It just shut off randomly in the middle of watching things. It took me forever to turn it on the first time. Maybe the batteries in the remote need changed? But that doesn't explain it just shutting off. The adjoining door was very thin so I could hear my neighbor's tv (radio? Podcast?) like it was in my room. My room was supposed to be charged to my employer's card. When I provided my card for incidentals they put the typical hold ($100 per night) on it. However, on my third day, there was an additional random $158 charge pending on my card. I had charged nothing to the room. I asked about it and had to talk to three people before they came up with the solution to check me out and check me back in to release the unauthorized charge. Unfortunately this did not end the charges. I had ever increasing charges from that day forward: $279, $325, and $558. Most of the people I spoke to were polite but they could not resolve the issue. I checked out days ago and the charges have not been reversed and many are still "pending." This also happened to a colleague who was with me. They also charged my employer's card so they've now taken 1.5x the amount they were entitled to for the stay. Beware and check your statements! I wasted hours on this issue in person at the hotel. I am now wasting more time monitoring my statement to make sure the holds fall off. Steven at the front desk was the least helpful and was rude throughout the 4 nights I was there. He was unfriendly and his demeanor was unwelcoming. The last straw was when I was waiting for my bag (11/16/23) with 20 other people in line and he was just standing behind the counter, helping no one with no line. I asked if he could get our bags and he said the person who does it was "on his way" and to wait over by the stand. It was horrendous customer service. Just take the ticket and get people's bags. You can't have 20 customers waiting for something that only entails matching a tag with a bag and just stand there doing nothing. This delay was unacceptable and it created delay for me and my colleagues (and the 20+ others waiting) as we were trying to get to the airport. 20-30 min to pickup bags is unacceptable. Tim was friendly and tried to make up for the extensive errors and mistakes of other staff. He was the only one to be able to give me an explanation for what happened and he was the only one able to fix the mistakes. It still took almost a week for all charges to either be reversed or stop pending. He was the only person I talked to who had any idea what he was doing as far as billing. One person can't make up for all the mistakes even though he certainly tried. This hotel is a mess. I don't care how nice a place is (and this hotel isn't that nice), but if they charge your card for unauthorized amounts and can't figure out how to fix it, they should be avoided. I would never stay here again and would advise others to do the same.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this hotel. The atmosphere during Christmas time was very cozy and I loved that. They also played live music in the lobby and it was a pleasant surprise when walking in. When we first arrived to our room, we liked it a lot. But then we noticed a used COVID test in between some cabinets in our room. This alarmed us since 1. We were worried the previous people who stayed in the room may have been COVID positive and 2. We questioned the cleanliness of the rest of the room based off this. It was very late by the time we noticed this so we ended up just staying. We were considering staying an extra night to enjoy the festivities, but after finding this we checked out as soon as possible the next morning.

Yelp
I really like the room, and it is very nice and spacious. The bed is comfy, TV is nice, and couch is nice too. The price was very good for what u pay for. The bathroom is also very nice. I was surprised how spacious the room was for around/under 150 per night (400-500 square feet, non-suite). The restaurant in the restaurant was also open on thanksgiving which saved me and my girlfriend since we were traveling at that time and almost everything was closed. I also really like the vibe and feel of the downstairs decor at the entrance. Very warm and homey Christmas holidays feel. The hotel let me check in early on a very impromptu arrival which was very nice. My only complaint was that there was somebody's leftover hair shavings in the bath tub drain that popped up after my girlfriend tried filling up the bath tub, and she had to clean it out herself to take a bath :(

Yelp
I've had to stay at this hotel a couple times for work conferences. The first time there was black mold on the air vent (I didn't notice for a couple hours and had a sore throat/respiratory issues for a week following). When I called the front desk, the receptionist told me to just wait in my room for further instructions. Every visit, the HVAC doesn't ever get close to the temperature you try to set, the rooms are hot and muggy. Not worth it for the price.

Yelp
I usually stay with my friends when I visit Chicago, so this was my first time actually staying at a hotel here. The Fairmont Chicago is very conveniently located walking distance from Millennium Park, with a Giordanos very close by as well. The hotel itself is very classy and beautiful. Upon going through the large revolving doors and walking into the lobby, you can really feel the timeless charm this hotel has. Everyone that I met here was very friendly and kind. The elevator kind of has a dip when it reaches your floor, so just take caution at that. I never got used to it so it did take my breath away every time haha. My room was on the 21st floor with stunning views of Millennium Park and the Buckingham Fountain. This was probably my favorite part of my stay here. Truly a cool view. The room was very big with a king sized bed and a seating area + coffee table near the window. The bathroom was also very pretty with both a shower and a tub. Really a great room. The only reason I am giving Fairmont Chicago 4 stars is due to the $77/night parking and the lack of a fridge in the room. Other than that, I truly loved staying at this hotel.

Yelp
Fairmont Chicago - Millennium Park is a great place to stay in the middle of everything. I really like the location and everything that they have available here. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating to make sure that you have everything that you need for the best stay. Good experience every time I have been here.

Yelp
For Chicago, this hotel is in the upper 1% in my opinion. Very comfortable, no attitude, super clean and well maintained, friendly staff that seems to give a shit.

Yelp
This is about the Leaf Spa -- I am so impressed by this spa! From the check-in service (Jasmina was the kindest person ever), to the welcome ritual, to the massage therapist, to the treatment, to the decor, to the products, this place is amazing! I had the Serenity Slumber Body Treatment which consisted of a massage, scrub, and scalp massage -- it was the perfect rebalancing and realigning treatment. I can't say enough about how knowledgeable Alex was of the tension in my body. I'll leave the welcome ritual a surprise but will say that that really started my experience off on the best note.

Yelp
This place is sad and terrible. This is not up to the Fairmont brand... at all! I left 1 hour after check in. The quality and service is below sub par. The rooms had cracks in the walls, terrible views, the elevator looked straight out of a 1950's commercial. Lights flickered, and I noticed this only after 1 hour. I would never stay the night here. The lobby was great during Christmas time but once you turn left or right the bright lights disappear and you come crashing down to reality. Definitely stay at the four seasons if you're looking for a quality experience of the usual Fairmont brand. I'm shocked this hotel still is in business.

Yelp
Wife and I stayed here for our anniversary, the hotel is in a great location and a short walk to millieum park, and downtown. We arrived at noon and we able to check in right away (pleasant surprise). We also talked to Tiphani Shape the concierge and she was so very helpful with her recommendations and assisting with booking some of our events. The room was really spacious with a great view of the park. The only tings we didn't like was the toilet paper, it was like very thin sandpaper also the restaurant really sucked. I left another review of the restaurant and only gave it one star, the food was really bad and way over priced. Also there is no free wifi, it was actually over $13 per day so we didn't use it. There is also a CVS across the street, so it was convenient to get water and snacks

Yelp
Just stayed at the Fairmont Monday-Wednesday. Service was unprofessional and lied to us at the front desk after over booking. On top of that after returning home I have since noticed being charged for the same meals multiple times. Was expecting a great experience but instead it turned out to be a an illusion of luxury with just over priced food and drinks.

Yelp
Very beautiful hotel. I love that they play live music in the lobby. It was very cozy and clean.

Yelp
From the time I walked into the spa, until I left it was a great experience! Sylvia greeted me, described the different teas, from Spring to Winter and I choose Spring--I love almonds. I sat down and began to relax. To my surprise, I was asked to stand, close my eyes and breathe. The scent of lavender enveloped my senses and I knew this was going to be great! In comes Dorothy, an amazing masseuse! She was soothing, we talked about a few issues, and the CBD massage oil was beyond amazing. I fell asleep at one point! After the massage, I headed to the steam room. My life is good, and my trip to Chicago would not have been complete without visiting the Leaf Spa. They are excellent and worth every dollar! Thank you so much! The Fairmont and its staff were also amazing! I will definitely stay there when I am in Chicago!

Yelp
Expected more from the Fairmont. Smelled weird and is pretty old. Room service was not great - rock hard cookies (cookies and milk) and melted ice cream. Was expecting so much more...

Yelp
Not nice at all. Is degrading to the Fairmont brand. My room is shabby, the halls are shabby and the side table next to the bed was so dirty i cleaned it myself before sitting phone down. Needs a gut and remodel badly. It is pathetic they are allowed to keep the Fairmont brand at this rate, i always thought that was a higher end hotel.

Yelp
For a 4.5 star, I expected more. Like others have said, the insides are showing their age. Our room was okay, but there were missing light fixtures in the bathroom. Also in the hallway, there was a loose light fixture straight up dangling from the ceiling. I was also really annoyed at how there's a daily resort fee that I wasn't informed about at booking (but I guess I should blame Priceline for that). With your daily resort fee, you get free internet (which wasn't horrible) and a $5 credit at the lobby coffee shop (which is only open 9a-1p). Check your bill at the end of your stay, though, because they didn't take the credit off my bill. The saving grace for this hotel was the location, which was close to a lot of tourist-y things. It was about a 15 min walk from the blue line also. TLDR; there are cheaper, better locations in the area. Go there.

Yelp
Overall just ok. I stayed there recently for a conference and it was fine for a conference hotel, but I would have wanted more for a vacation hotel. *Pros: Nice hotel staff, clean, gets the job done. *Cons: On-site restaurant and bar is bland, rude service in hotel restaurant, no fridge in the room, really dry in the winter (we were guzzling water and our skin felt itchy from the dryness), no outlets on the nightstands (how is that possible anymore?), espresso machine in the room (cool!) but no coffee machine, no pool.

Yelp
I was there for a staycation with a friend of mine. Valet was polite and prompt. Check in was quick and easy. Room had a nice view of the city. Leaf Spa- wonderful experience! Welcome ceremony with tea. Knowledgeable masseuse. The amenities are great Got room service- chicken and dumplings soup which was very good. It was broth based not cream based so lots and lots of veggies with chicken and dumplings. Caesar salad which again wasn't your traditional salad with Romain lettuce, it had lots of different types of greens. Mac and Cheese was ok, nothing to rave about. Had breakfast at the Columbus Tap. You HAVE to get the breakfast potatoes like, absolutely delicious Overall a great experience in a great location if you want to explore chicago by foot, you'll be close to everything.

Yelp
Nice hotel - be prepared to pay a lot for the extras. Wi-Fi was around $20 a day, breakfasts were about $30. Rooms did have a mini bar and snack area that was all way overpriced - $12 for an ounce of cashews. Rooms were a good size lots of storage drawers, the bathroom was amazing had a bath and a separate shower. Staff was really friendly very helpful on finding things in the neighborhood. The elevators were quick didn't really wait for one or than a moment or so. Utilized the meeting rooms and they were nice size. The lunch and snack foods that were provided were very good.

Yelp
The Lodge experience: Horrible. Below mediocre food. Atrocious service. Really embarrassing. You shouldn't even offer this if you can't execute it. At one point I tried ordering a drink four separate times. When I stopped one of the managers to let him know about this, I said, "would it be possible to order a drink?" He glared back at me, and said "I'm listening" with an insane amount of attitude. Terribly off-putting. The gimmicky featured cocktail are a sugar-laced nightmare. And the fondue is made with disgusting cheese. Hotel Services: 1) Valet Parking - The service doesn't match the price. We had to wait for our car more than twice, even though we called in advance. I will say, on a positive note, that they let us keep out car up front when we were checking out but headed for a quick walk to the Bean. Kind of them. 2) Bellman - After unloading at the valet, we waited 20+ minutes for our bags to be delivered to our room. This wouldn't have been a big deal if we hadn't had reservations for the Lodge that we were trying to make. The bellman was more prompt upon checkout. 3) Phones - Nobody - N-O-B-O-D-Y - answers the phone at this hotel, at any time. Front desk. Conceirege. Valet. Housekeeping. You'll get voicemail again and again. Just terrible. Room Quality: Nice enough. Good views. Clean.

Yelp
I worked for my client for an event and the client paid for my hotel, The hotel confirmed this and told me I would be responsible for the incidentals which was 100 dollars a day, ridiculous! Also they charged me for the room and screwed up and did not charge the client. I am now disputing the charges with my credit card company and I will be filing a report with the bbb and consumer credit affairs! Luckily I have evidence of emails and video of the admitted screw up but the hassle and negligence is unforgivable, I will never stay in any property ran by these unproffesional people.

Yelp
Aside from the fussy in-room coffee makers and the high cost to park, everything was delightful. Spent 7 nights here recently and had a great experience. Beautiful view. Staff members were helpful and attentive!

Yelp
It was a fine stay but not for the price point. Stayed for a holiday weekend, hotel was amazingly decorated but the follow up with great food and service was subpar. Menu was very limited for family service. Lots of waiting for service and food was expensive as well. No mini fridge and minimal surfaces to set things down. Happy to pay, but expected better food, service and room basics.

Yelp
Stayed here recently for a reunion and the hotel was in great shape. Loved the views from my room of the river. Most importantly the nice large bathroom was a plus. The quiet room and helpful service and directions from the staff were great. Had one small incident in which I came back to my room and as I was searching for my key (must have lost it at Kingston Mines) and got to my door, there was a lady crouching and sleeping at my door. I realized quickly that I didnt have my key and that I'd have to go get a new one and have security come get the woman. I was freaked out because she wanted to come in my room and hide. My first thought was she was a guest having an argument with her partner and was hiding. When I turned around there was a security person who detained me and the woman. It definitely looked looked suspicious, but after he asked me for my ID and secured it with reception, he asked the woman if I had assaulted her and if she was with me. Fortunately she said no as it was 2am and I knew security footage would have backed my story. Eventually the security guy let me in my room and returned with a key saying that the lady had been removed. A little scary that the woman had gotten up to my floor but good that security cameras had caught her odd behavior. Fortunately she was not a threat.
