Fairway 74th Street Cafe

The food, service, and atmosphere were all amazing when we dined there on a relaxing Saturday morning. The portion of the dishes was big enough to fill our empty bellies. The view was great. Our waiter was very professional and attentive. Other staff were friendly. My family enjoyed a nice experience there.

Terrible customer service. The most mediocre burger and terrible matzah ball soup. Just the worst all around. Complete disaster. $5 burger? Save your money, bec $5 is not worth this burger. Lacks any flavor or taste. The soup? The carrots looked old, the chicken, tough and hard to chew, the pasta? GROSS. Go across the street instead.

A hidden gem on the Upper Westside. You climb the stairs to the second floor. Breakfast with a view of the action on Broadway. Seriously the best omelette in the city. And you can have salad instead of potatoes. A lovely large cappuccino rounds out a perfect morning. Waitstaff is lovely. Always a smile when I come in! And Jerry the chef cuts the cucumbers very tiny in your salad. An elegant touch. Come for Breakfast lunch and dinner. You will not be disappointed! Alisa took great care of me!

Very friendly staff. Ask for them to warm the muffins— they toast the muffins on the griddle and it makes it so soft buttery and crispy. They use great coffee beans too

Came for breakfast and the food was great! Get the avocado toast - it is real avocado spread, not just from a jar. It was delicious! It is located on the second floor of a supermarket. Service was friendly and sweet!

nice second floor cafe in Fairway supermarket. The cortado cafe was great and the "big breakfast" was good. Nice window view. Good place for a quick breakfast but does not look like a place to seat and relax. Bill was $30 before tip for 2 coffes and one breakfast.

I've been eating there for many years, and I love it for breakfast and brunch. This is a quiet oasis in a frantic city. It's usually easy to find a table, and the staff is nice and efficient. The food is basic NY breakfast brunch/ unch, freshly made and reasonably priced. Go for the bagel/lox/eggs/pancakes/fruit/muffin... There are better places to get a Ruben.

I've eaten here 2x now Both times just horrible, unfortunately The breakfast my eggs were watery Dinner my salmon was overcooked and the rice was lumpy and also overcooked from sitting in a pot all day Very disappointing

Place has really slipped. Slow and confused service. Food was overcooked dry and cold like it had been sitting. Its a pass for me now sorry.

The staff was so nice and helpful when I went. A little unorthodox, but it's a sit down cafe upstairs in the fairway where they serve a full menu of food, pastries, and coffee.

Fairway is not what it was. I'm sure you hear that from your neighbors. Less variety, fewer Fairway prepared foods, higher prices. Slow service at prepared foods counter. Given all that, it's still my go-to brick-and-mortar in the neighborhood. Fresh real NY bagels. Outstanding Zomick's challah. Outstanding Latin rotisserie chicken. Great cheese selection. Excellent range of kid snacks. Decent but pricey organics upstairs. I do not buy fish there, preferring FreshDirect and Citarella, right next door. No comment on service, as it's really spotty and totally depends on the person. NB: Tuesdays & Wednesdays seniors get a mini-discount. You need to request it & it takes extra time at self-checkout, so it's hardly work it for just a couple of items. But, if your bill totals more than $60, go for it! IMO.

Worse mistake eating here. So disappointed with the quality of the food. This place was great at one time. Patty Melt was disgusting and it came with cold fries. I'll never go back there again..

This is a go to spot after dance class at Steps on Broadway. Food is always delicious, whether the matzoh ball soup, crap cake sandwich, eggs, potato latkes... It's all GOOD with GOOD PORTIONS. Wait staff is attentive. They fill up your coffee cup frequently. A wonderful spot on UWS. Fair prices. Tasty!

I love coming here. It's my little hideout place when I want to be served food, work on my laptop, and not see anyone I know. I get a lot of work done. I am working on completing my script. Usually, I work from home but I don't always like to have to stop and go make something to eat. I haven't been here in a bit but it's my place when i do go.

The avocado toast was yummy! My son said that his gluten free pancakes and toast were delicious

Always great food and service. We've dined at Fairway 74th Street Cafe for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and we've never been disappointed.

While they lose a star for ignoring me and not taking my order, they made up for it after I complained. My breakfast was delicious !

The food used to be excellent. But i don't know what oil they are cooking with. The Chicken BLT sandwich has barely any meat and soaked in an OIL that tastes nauseous. I don't know what kind of oil it is. But gross and had to throw out recent order. Will never order the Chicken blt again. They need to get actual chicken and change their cooking oil. A shame this place used to be fantastic.

I was at the cafe yesterday. Since the weather was so warm, I ordered a Cobb salad. However, after I gave my order to the waitress I witnessed her serving others and so I asked her when I would get my order. She reassured me that I was next. I waited some more but no salad was forthcoming. Another waitress, seeing the scowl on my face, asked what was wrong. I told her, she went to check, and assured me that my order would be out in 5 minutes. I waited 5 minutes and no salad appeared, so I left.

Wow my experience is the polar opposite of the other 2 reviews... I used to visit this place for breakfast prior to the pandemic and today was the first time I returned...the changes are dramatic. I typically order the smoked salmon bagel, albeit for me, I have it with toasted 9 grain bread...where do I start...the salmon is not the good quality I had before, the bread is a cheap knock off (not 9 grain), and the accompanying salad should have been in the garbage not on my plate, it looked like it had been sitting around all weekend, and the garnish of sliced scallion had been chopped days ago...completely dried out. Zero quality control in the kitchen. Really sad as I loved this place and will not be back...service was passable for a slow late Monday morning.

Excellent cafe upstairs at Fairway on second floor. They've redone their menu and offer excellent sandwiches, breakfast options all day long, and interesting dinner options. Everything is fresh and well-prepared. The servers are super friendly and efficient. The crab cake sandwich is a real winner and a bargain. Prices, overall, are reasonable and portions are large. This is a nice addition to the neighborhood.

It's OPEN again! Servers and food fantastic, great specials, prices reasonable, actually in some cases less than a diner!! Good cappuccino too. A hidden gem, so go "dig" it!!!
