Falcon Coffee Bar Gives Wedgewood-Houston a Go-To Coffee Shop - Eater Nashville

"The first and certainly the most anticipated of several coffee shops set to open in the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood this year is now serving, as Falcon Coffee Bar opened its doors earlier today. Located at 509 Houston St., the new venture from longtime bar veterans Alexis Soler and Angela Laino is the duo’s first foray into full-on coffee shop territory. A beverage menu is not yet available online, but expect a variety of options, including a quality Cubano, a favorite of both Soler’s and Laino’s from their time spent in Miami. Local roaster Osa Coffee will be featured prominently, along with offerings from other regularly rotating roasters." - Matt Rogers

We stopped by for a quick breakfast and were not expecting THIS. this has been hands down the best vegan quick bite I've had in a while. Every single thing that we ordered was very well made, delicious and unique. The place is beautiful if you want to take some pictures. The drinks are great: I can recommend the Lemonade coffee, it was definitely unique and delicious.

Google
I love the ambiance here. There’s a garden in the front, nice outdoor seating and a pretty bar inside. The drinks were so good and there were many tasty vegan options! A public parking area next door…a great spot to stop in!

Google
Came here for lunch with family on a weekday. Most of the tables outside were taken, but the owner managed to find us a place to sit which was safe for our 3 year old. We ordered a lunch snack of chop chop salad and mushroom buns plus a glass of beer or wine each. The food came quite quickly and was nice both in quality and quantity. The total cost came to just under $50 for 3 adults which is not cheap, but a nice place to relax outside in good weather.

Google
What appears to be a tiny coffee shop turns out to be much larger, including a 70s style lounge in the back. So, as our barista said--they're coffee shop by day, bar by night. There are two outdoor seating areas. Great vegan breakfast options. The breakfast sandwich I had was incredible. Good coffee and tea options.

Google
Cool plant based vegan coffee bar with great vegan food! Had the avocado gluten free toast and the house wild salad , everything was really good and the spot is cool and great vibes for working inside or outside.

Google
Great vegan coffee shop that serves food and some alcohol too. It is an attractive space. The service was fast, friendly, and helpful. I had a cashew milk latte and the french dip sandwhich and they were both fantastic.

Google
So delicious. I cannot believe it. I need to find a place like this in Houston. Also don't be fooled there is plenty of seating. My favorites were the Avocado Toast and the Lox Bagel

Ericka Sims-Hall

Google
What a chic and charming coffee/ vegan restaurant! My friends and I were hung over at the brewery down the street and I desperately needed a salad in order not to hate myself that day. Their Greek salad with plant based chicken was really good. The pesto toast was well… very pesto-y so You really gotta love pesto in order to enjoy it! I love how this place is dog friendly.

Yelp
This place makes the best coffee because they use OSA coffee roasted here in Nashville. The cold brew is so smooth, you can drink it black. Everything here is plant based (incredible, even if you're not vegan), and you'd never know. They serve their brunch menu on the weekends, but if you can visit during the week, you should try the Gyro. I'd never know it was all plant based. This is my favorite place in Nashville to grab coffee and a bite to eat.

Yelp
The vibe and atmosphere of Falcon bar are amazing! There is plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. The staff is super friendly and patient. This is our first time here it took us a bit to order. The drinks are good! The only thing I didn't like was the chocolate croissant it was not good at all! I get it's vegan but the chocolate and the texture it wasn't for me. Also, I feel like the price point is a little high compared to other shops. I wouldn't mind having cocktail drinks with friends here after work. The vibe is so chill I can see myself grabbing coffee and working here in the morning. I'll come back.

Yelp
A totally lovely vibe to come chill, vibe and study. The music is great and the baristas were awesome! Popped in the day right before they closed for reservations, so didn't take many photos. However it's lovely homey place, with plants to give it a more welcoming vibration. They also don't use milk which is the first time I've ever heard that at a coffee place and thought it was super awesome! (I'm an Oat girl) hope y'all enjoy!
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place! When I came here for the first time I was pleasantly surprised how great the food and drinks are. It's become one of my favorite vegan spots in Nashville. The food options were limited today, maybe they sold out early, so I tried the nachos and had an iced matcha latte with coconut milk. The coconut milk tasted sooo good, and I confirmed they make it from scratch! The nachos were great too. Everything was fresh and delicious. The baristas were very nice and friendly, and the bar and interior is really cute!

Yelp
Wedgewood Houston just keeps pumping out the amazing small businesses. Case in point, Falcon Coffee Bar. This is a coffee bar by day and a cocktail bar/lounge by night. The vibe here is amazing, friendly staff and the music played throughout the venue is awesome. For coffee and breakfast, you have to order via an outdoor window and if your staying to hang out, they give you a numbered card to place at your table. You can sit inside in the front coffee bar, the back cocktail lounge area, or the outdoor patio, it's all open. I chose the lounge because it offers the most space and large comfy couches. My veggie breakfast burrito was delicious and the cold brew that accompanied it hit the spot. BTW- They have oat milk! I for sure need to make my way back here to sample of some their cocktails and fully experience the lounge, minus the sunlight. Party on!

Yelp
Best Avocado toast in town...plus all the gluten free and dairy free options your heart desires. Such a cute vibe in front , it's a quaint dining area upfront in the cafe, with all the produce locally sourced and homegrown. In the back you can sit in the flamingo lounge that has a funky Art Deco /seventies atmosphere and plenty of seating . Drinks are available but you can take your coffee to the back and do more of a brunch business meeting or casual hang. I love this wedgewood-Houston neighborhood and Falcons is one of the top places to get perked up along the way. Parking is tight. It's kindof a park amd walk situation. But it's worth it. The staff is always friendly and the orders come out fast. Get a handcrafted latte or a vegan pastry and call it a day!
google avatar

Jenifer G.

Yelp
Great choice of vibes in the front and back. I enjoyed my oat milk (or was it coconut?) latte with honey and cinnamon on top, recommended by the barista. Music was good but too loud for a conference call though I'm sure they would have lowered it if I asked. Lots of water and glasses to promote hydration.
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of my favorite vegan restaurants in Nashville. Let's start with the food. The food is way above average. I'd say close to excellence. The servers are very friendly and easy-going. Polite is what comes to mind. I love the vibe of this place, has just got that relaxed environment with lots of earth tones. There's a back portion to the restaurant which is very trendy and earthy. A great place to have a dinner meeting. Or dinner party. Thank you Falcon.

Yelp
I have been to Falcon Coffee Bar 3 times now, but today was the first time I ordered off the menu. I got the supreme burrito with the greens! I was impressed with the greens because most restaurant just throw some wilted sloppy greens on the plate, but Falcon Coffee presented it nicely! I used to be vegan and still eat a lot of plant-based foods, so I loved the burrito and the aioli on it - wish there was a whole side of aioli!
google avatar

Jeremy C.

Yelp
Yup, still 5-stars as usual. Gotta say: their new Banh Mi sandwich is PHENOMENAL and my new favorite menu item. This better be a permanent menu item and not a seasonal thing!! Idk what they did to make the miso beef inside so tasty, and it's so hard to believe it's all plant based!!!
google avatar

Adriann D.

Yelp
This place has delicious food and beverages, a chill vibe and great style. There are so many vegan options! Indoor and outdoor seating with public parking right next door. Definitely a place I recommend you stop in!
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome vegan spot in wedgewood-Houston! Their brunch is not to be missed, the bodega sandwich is 10/10! The pastelito was inexplicably flaky especially being made without butter- delicious!! Their to go cocktails are also a must try! Definitely check them Out for a great vegan breakfast spot!
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic place, especially a great place to study. They also have GF pastries, which is a great option! If you have a nut allergy, you might be best to stick to black coffee or another drink because of the amount of nut milks and cheeses that are in the place. You can park directly in front of the building or you can go to the new gravel lot next to it.

Yelp
Super cute coffee shop! Indoor and outdoor seating. Variety of drinks and eats. I got the iced tumeric latte with a shot of espresso... came out super good. Not too sweet at all. I got my drink for there and took it out to the back patio which had a lot of open seating. Walking towards the back I noticed a full bar and seating area .. turned out it's a club as well. The club doesn't close until 3am, and every last Saturday they have a 70s themed party and dress up. Pretty cool if you ask me. Super cute and classy. Had my drink while I FaceTimed with my sexy man and simply enjoyed the vibe. Will be bringing him there when I visit again... hopefully at night to the club so I can grind on him. It's just a sexy vibe (the club section) I WILL BE BACK.

Yelp
Nice little spot! Love the decor. Very modern/rustic and comforting with lots of greenery. That's my favorite part! Avo toast and empanada presentation was extremely tasteful and had an upscale feeling. The flavor, even better. Avo toast was one of my favorites so far. If you're hungry, get one of each and you'll be just fine. Mocha latte was very good along with great latte art. Staff was very welcoming. I really felt at home and comfortable there. Plenty of outlets to plug in at the bar if you need to work. The establishment is 2-in-1 with a cocktail bar in the back that opens in the evening. The coffee house also offers come cocktails and mixed coffee drinks if you care to indulge. Would for sure be back! Update... went back for lunch. It was totally my fault that I forgot the chicken on the salad was not chicken and instead was plant based and had a weird taste. I ordered the chop salad. It was drenched in dressing which I did not like the taste of. The whole salad seemed to be overwhelmed with the dressing taste which seems to maybe have some tumeric or something in it. I am not vegan so I did not like the plant based chicken at all. Disappointed but it was more or less my fault for my mix up. I still loved the coffee and my previous post with the toast so I'll be back for those!

Yelp
Best vibes! Love the front being a coffee shop and the back being a bar! The first couple times my oatmilk lattes were too sweet, but eventually they got it right and now a tiny splash of simple syrup is just that and it's perfect.

Yelp
Loved this spot! This plant-based coffee bar (which turns into a cocktail bar at night in the back) has a super interesting, eclectic vibe. There are some unique drinks (like the raspberry macchiato with coconut cream that I ordered). The service was super friendly and there is good WiFi and plentiful seating. I recommend visiting their outdoor patio in the back. Sitting in the sun and working or catching up with a friend? Sign me up any day. The food also looked delicious. Definitely hope to return soon!

Yelp
Falcon, who are you but the beautiful girl, who in our youthful zeal and folly we idealize as a perfect match. Your beautiful bar, your trendy branding; all luring us in to believe who you really are is a beautiful as your exterior shell presents. That is, until it's time to order. All of a sudden the poison is sipped. The young beauty who lured me, has turned back form to the monster she always was. A beverage un-drinkable to the human mouth. Bank account dented from the payment require.... ego dented all the more. Amidst the confusion wonder how much I should take personal responsibility for the error of my youth, vs be comforted in the nuance of this life and the paths of growth we must all take. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice... and fool me twice you did. This weekend I returned. It must be better than what I experienced I tell myself! And to some credit, it was technically better. In-so-far as the lesser of evils is a true concept, so is having a more pleasant drink at Falcon than other times you go. So the second time was better than the first... barely. Now, here is my embarrassing admission. I still want to return. The back bar is so cool looking! I've only tried the espresso drinks. That I well never do again... but the bar? Looks cute. I must emphasize, the only reason I'm willing to return is due to the cool bar area, and personal issues I'm dealing with in therapy; there is nothing about what I've consumed here that would ever make me want to return.

Yelp
One of the few open cafes we could find on Thanksgiving Day and I'm so glad we came! It's a lovely and warm cafe with lots of beautiful green plants giving the whole place a shabby-chic eco vibe that we Loved! We got the Bodega sandwich and Tofu burrito. The Bodega was delish! The tofu burrito was nice but could have used a bit more flavor and the large onion chunks were a little too sharp. We also got a cashew mylk mocha and dirty chai lattes which were DREAMY!
google avatar

Shub N.

Yelp
This is a neat plant based coffee bar tucked in the booming Wedgewood Houston area. I'm not really a coffee drinker like that but have had the avocado toast, tofu scramble burrito and the "chixin" wings which they don't have on the menu but they are the BOOOOMMMBBB! As of now they only have them on Saturdays. These are the only faux wings that I've had that actually have e texture of a wing and a bone in it for the effect...it is so tasty...the tofu burrito is so filling and seasoned just right. They also sell some kind of coconut brownie (I think it's coconut) but it is BOMB as well! Staff are friendly and I haven't had any issues with parking...you have to park on the streets.

Yelp
I had heard a LOT about Falcon prior to coming here--and all great things too! I found myself finally going in order to get my hands on the Yellow & Lavender goodies that they carry, but I was so glad to finally stop by! The look of the place itself is stunning.. small and well decorated without being too dark; tons of plans. The service was okay, I just got my treat and a cappuccino to go so it was quick. My cappuccino itself was fantastic until the last few sips, not really sure why! I'll definitely be back to try it all again, I know how off days go! Also, their cocktail lounge is calling my name!
google avatar

Yelp
If tasty food is all it takes to make a place great, the Falcon Coffee Bar has it in the bag. The empanadas are very tasty and the bodega sandwich is delicious. I look forward to trying more! The atmosphere is trying to grasp onto feng shui but dying plants have it just out of reach, but hey, minor detail. The only thing holding me back from giving this eclectic plant based cafe 5 stars is the service. There was no greeting when we walked in. We sat at the bar and perhaps it was our own fault to not be aware that you can not order from there. Eventually we had to interrupt the conversation of the employees to ask where we order... just 3 feet away. We will definitely return for the tasty food with high hopes of better service and perhaps an extra star.

Yelp
THIS IS MY MOST FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN THE WORLD. You have to come here seriously it might just change your life. Amazing prices, incredible food, the best vegan food ever, very clean. Vegan or not you have to try it. The French dip and breakfast wrap was amazing. Kale salad as a side was 10/10. Changed my life lol. You can taste the love in every bite. I made a trip around the country this past summer and it completely blows every place we've been to out of the water.
google avatar

Lauren N.

Yelp
Literally. Amazing. The employee with the Taurus tattoo on her finger, if I could kiss her I would. That's how amazing everything was. I asked her which drink she recommended, food and sweets. I got the iced vanilla latte, French dip, rose or lavender pistachio donut and the cinnamon roll. And when I tell you each item slapped I'm saying they SLAPPPPPPPED. I already was looking at the French dip because that used to be my jam back before I went vegan so her recommending it just made my soul sing lol and it was everything I wanted and more. The aju was insane. Out of this world. Also she recommended potato salad for my side and that was amazing as well. Always look to a female Taurus for food suggestions. We know good food! 10 out of 10 recommend this spot. Will be back.

Yelp
Love this place and all of their offerings! It's delicious whether vegan or not ;) - and don't miss Flamingo for incredible cocktails and entertainment later in the day, too!!
google avatar

Yelp
Super cute coffee shop located in Wedgewood Houston Visited this coffee shop today for the first time with my coworker and was very impressed. It is located over on Houston Street and is attached to the Flamingo Cocktail Bar. I ordered a large iced coffee with caramel syrup and it was very good! I'll have to come back and get one of their doughnuts Pros: + yummy iced coffee syrups (caramel, lavender, mocha) + awesome customer service! The barista was very personal + ample seating and cute decor + street side parking + food options + gorgeously decorated pastries

Michael M.

Yelp
paid $19 for a cold brew (add vanilla syrup) and a bodega sandwich (add ham) so .... Quiet vibes tho
google avatar

Janet L.

Yelp
Our first choice coffee shop was actually closed and so we drove around a couple blocks and noticed a large falcon drawing on a building, praying it was another coffee shop (we were deeply caffeine-deprived). We were actually so glad we missed the other coffee shop to find this gem on our own (sans-Yelp!). Super cute vibe all-around. I love how everything was so thoughtfully crafted and decorated, friendly staff being a bonus. Also loved that they're plant-based.
google avatar

Caitlin C.

Yelp
I LOVE the vibe so much. Plants everywhere! Good music :) great spot for people with good allergies or specific food lifestyles. The people were very friendly and helpful. Hannah, my barista, was a gem. She made me feel welcomed and valued. :)
google avatar

Yelp
Bodega sandwich is so good. Love the atmosphere here and all the succulent plants around and their style overall
google avatar

Yelp
The building caught my eye when I was heading to a hair appointment nearby, and I asked my stylist if she'd ever been. She said she'd had a great vegan BLT here, so I decided to stop by for a drink after getting my hair done. The ambiance inside is sparse and casual, and the menu is small. My Traditional Cuban caught my eye because it was my drink of choice when I was barista. The one I had was excellent; the espresso managed to be bold and earthy but still mellow and smooth. When I ordered, the barista confirmed with me first what was in it--just espresso and sugar--which I appreciated as a general practice since so many people use common names for different drinks. I'll definitely go back with a book or some work sometime soon!
google avatar

J M.

Yelp
A HIDDEN GEM FOR SURE!! I met my friend here for coffee and I was blown away. the lattes are yummy. The food was good. Staff is really friendly! the atmosphere is laid back and whoever makes the playlist has amazing taste in music. a cool hidden hangout with some yummy treats.

Daniel W.

Yelp
My first visit here left me disappointed and I will not be back any time soon. The only two positives I have are that the atmosphere is great with multiple seating options and the food/drinks were brought out swiftly, but everything else was unimpressive and frustrating. The staff was cold, the food was very lacking and the coffee drinks we ordered were not good. Add to this an overpriced menu and only non-dairy options and you get a negative review from me.
google avatar

Connor B.

Yelp
Great spot! We had heard a lot about this place from our friends in the area. My wife and I had the avocado toast and iced vanilla latte with oat milk. Both were unique and enjoyable. The vibe is unbelievable too.
google avatar

Asia H.

Yelp
Love that this spot is vegan- hard to find a large selection of those in fried chicken city. I had the bodega sandwich based on others' reviews and I was a little nervous because the description didn't line up with what I'd normally order, but holy shit I'm glad I did! So good! It oddly reminds me of McDonald's in the best and most nostalgic way. It's the bun, and the tang in the aioli. Highly recommend. I also got a cinnamon roll which was delicious. Coffee was meh. Definitely worth checking out. They have Flamingo in the back opened up for seating now, too which is awesome.
google avatar

Becca X.

Yelp
A cute little coffee place in Nashville! Great ambiance and the employees are super nice. Nice chill music playing in the back, so I could definitely see people studying here. Got their Andy Palmer (lemonade + cold brew). I had never had one before but it was surprisingly good. Definitely helps that their coffee is super delicious I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting in the area! There are a lot of cool places nearby that seem worth checking out
google avatar

Mary M.

Yelp
This is a really neat plant based coffee shop. We were hoping to get breakfast and coffee but were told they don't start serving breakfast until 9 am. They did have empanadas ready and doughnuts from Morsel. Both were fantastic! I would love to try their other food. For coffee, I got the El Dorado (turmeric latte) off the seasonal menu with their house cashew milk. It was good - an interesting mix of flavors. I tasted turmeric, cayenne? And it also had lime rind. My sister got the macchiato which was really good. I saw a lot of reviews that said the cold brew was good and saw a lot of people order that while we were there, so I think I would try that next time. Overall it's a really nice coffee and breakfast spot.

Cassie P.

Yelp
ABSOLUTELY LOVED! The back is swanky and sexy and I can't say enough about their staff! Bree is amazing! The back is awesome by the bar and such a cool spot to hang out!
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
I can always count on Falcon to make me feel welcome and at ease. The coffee is amazing, and the food menu is bomb as well. I love to see plant-based businesses making cruelty free eating the norm! My fave are the empanadas (specifically, soyrizo), but I recently tried the Philly cheezesteak and loved that, too!
google avatar

Desi F.

Yelp
This place is the bomb diggity. I've been hanging out here so often the baristas know my name. The owner of The Falcon, Andy, is great! He's always slinging beans behind the bar. Alex is another one of my favorite baristas. Everyone else I've met is awesome too. Always friendly and great customer service every time. The coffee is delicious. The cold brew is out of this world! Some of the best I've had in Nashville. They use beans roasted locally at OSA Coffee in Edgehill! The food menu is entirely plant based. Everything is so good. Try the BLT with a side of potato salad and thank me later. The empanadas are tasty too if you want a small snack. Rad vibes all around. Great music, lots of plants and cool atmosphere. They are very intentional here and aim to be as environmentally friendly as possible, only using biodegradable and compostable materials. If you aren't aware, The Falcon is the coffee shop (black building) in the front and it connects to The Flamingo (pink building) which is a cocktail bar behind it. I haven't been there yet but word on the street is that it's gnarly. Whether you're craving coffee or a cocktail, you can't go wrong here! Check it out.

Yelp
The Wedgewood Houston neighborhood had a cafe for a short while in years past, but it was unfortunately a short stay. However, the neighborhood has received a magnificent addition to the cafe culture of Nashville with Falcon. While the cocktail lounge side, Flamingo, is still in the works (though almost ready to go), Falcon dishes out local coffee from the local Osa Coffee Roasters, a small tea selection from local tea shop High Garden, a small but wonderful cocktail and wine selection, and a menu of toast, empanada, and sandwich selections that don't feature animals, but do taste amazing. Maybe I am biased because I have a cafe that is walking distance from my home, but this place has been a welcome surprise. Falcon currently makes my favorite cortado and avocado toast, the atmosphere is trendy and comfortable, and the staff has been friendly and caring. I don't have bad words to say. I'm excited about a great cafe opening in the neighborhood, and I highly recommend it.

Yelp
Review for Falcon Coffee Bar - Currently chilling here on a Sunday afternoon, getting some work done and enjoying some flavorful coffee and empanadas. Not sure what I enjoy more, the positive customer service, the dope playlist or the plant based menu. I definitely see myself coming here more in the future.

Sunshine D.

Yelp
What a cute place - I will tell my friends! Nice quiet place with coffee, hot tea and a few cocktails plus vegan food ( have not tried the food yet)

Yelp
The Lavender Cashew Milk Latte is literally the best coffee I've ever had in my life! And the food is amazing! My favorite spot in Nashville!!

Yelp
Caught this cool new space after whiskey tasting at close-by Corsair. Same block as Bastion restaurant. Terrific cold brew coffee, friendly atmosphere. Covering the no plastic straw movement with stainless steel or paper straws. Vegan food offerings and cocktails look enticing for another visit. Good luck to the new endeavor!

Yelp
Was visiting from California and always like hunting down a good cup of coffee. Excellent craft brew. Great vibes and merch too.

Yelp
I love this place I tried the Cuban sandwich and had to do a double take it tasted like real meat and cheese also the back patio is super cute overall love the atmosphere and can not wait to try more food

Yelp
Lovely staff and great coffee. I also had the guava pastelito and the bodega sandwich, both were excellent really great spot.
