Stayed for 3 nights in mid-December with my wife.|The room was very comfortable, as was the bed. Nice touches are the box of Lily O’Brien chocolates in the room, quality biscuits and toiletries and 2 bottles of water every day. The electric power shower could have performed better, but I suspect the plumbing in this centuries old building doesn’t help.|Some of the doorways are a bit low, but I’m 6 feet tall, and my wife is 5 feet 9 inches, and we didn’t have to do too much ducking, so not a problem! Also, the stairs to the rooms are steep - almost a spiral staircase, so if you have mobility problems it might not work for you.|Parking can be a little bit of a problem, as they don’t have a car park, and the road outside is quite narrow, but on all 3 nights we managed to|park more or less directly outside. If all else fails there is a good size free car park no more than 2 minutes walk away. If it is wet, or likely to be wet, whilst you are there, take your wellies, as it can be pretty muddy. You can spot the locals in the pub - they are all wearing wellies!|Breakfast was freshly cooked and very tasty, as were the meals we had at dinner on the three nights. Although they have “pub classics” on the menu, they also have other choices (eg we had a lovely Goan fish curry one night). If this is pub food, it is a class above!|One reviewer said their food was consistently cold, but ours was always piping hot!|Finally, must mention the staff, who are all so friendly, polite and helpful. |In our opinion the Falkland Arms is a place well worth staying at, or just visiting for a meal, and the country surroundings are great for walkers, with to without a dog.
