The Falkland Arms Great Tew - Review - Great Tew - Cotswolds - The Infatuation

"The Falkland Arms is straight out of a story book, with a thatched roof, copper tankards and jugs dangling from the ceiling, and a snug window seat next to the fireplace for hunkering down on a worn stool with a pint. It’s what we imagine Tolkien’s Prancing Pony to be like—but instead of shire-folk, locals and tourists stream in for live music and hefty roast dinners. But we’d skip the food altogether. Have lunch next door at Quince And Clover, then drop by for a pint and some crisps in the characterful bar or picturesque beer garden. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna photo credit: Sinéad Cranna video credit: Sinéad Cranna Pause Unmute" - Sinéad Cranna

Amazing pub and hotel. Staff were so incredibly friendly and lovely. The included breakfast was incredible and they even accommodated to my fussy diet. We ate there for dinner one night and it was incredible! Fresh home cooked food (would definitely recommend booking on a Friday/Saturday as it was quite busy). I would highly recommend visiting/staying if you’re in the area!

Amazing, picturesque English pub - can’t believe it’s been around so long! The rooms are quaint and comfortable, and the included breakfast is top notch. We also had dinner there on the night of our stay and loved trying all the beers and ciders on tap. The lamb got a big thumbs up from my partner; and I really enjoyed my steak as well. Recommend for a stay if you’re going through the Cotswolds.

Fine old storied Cotswold pub with rooms. Located in the pleasant village of Great Tew. Currently the Costwolds is under invasion from Americans and Luvvies apparently but that should not distract from a fine establishment. A decent pint and a people watch was all good. Will definitely return and stay, maybe ask to sit in Pierce Brosnans seat ala Mobland!

Fabulous place to visit. Really lovely old pub thatched roof part of it. Lovely beer garden at the back.room was lovely. Up in attic . Stairs a bit tricky but not a problem. Could be for someone less able to climb steps. Food lovely. I had fish and chips and you can get curry sauce with it at an added extra . Not many places do curry sauce with fish and chips and it should be a must like mushy peas. And bread and butter. So lovely . I left them a book I have written called Elouise and the Golden Butterfly as a Thank you.

Lovely country pub with a warm welcome from staff. Excellent food on offer at a reasonable price for the area. Lovely sitting outside during the day with a cool.coder or gin when you've walked across the fields.

Lovely pub. Menu online up to date with the one in the pub. Great service and food but recommend booking a table as people were walking in and only just getting a table. Reasonable price and local cider. Lots of parking on the road. Beautiful character with an open fire!

Gorgeous old Cotswold pub, very busy August Sunday afternoon. |Really friendly welcome, seated immediately.|Had Sunday lunch... Fantastic. Beef done perfectly and Pork really tasty. Lovely veg.|Very friendly and attentive staff.|There is a public car park very close by which we only noticed as we were driving away sadly as we struggled a bit with trying to park.

I booked a table for 8 people at the pub for my mothers birthday having heard how good the food was,the table was booked for 7pm on Friday. We were taken to our table and ordered our food, daughter is dairy free so I told the person taking the order she wouldn't want certain things and he snapped just tell me what she does want! So then we waited and waited after an hour my nephew went and ask where the food was and was told e were the next table out.(the pub was not at all busy) but 10 minutes went by the the food finally came i must say we were very disappointed the presentation was not what I expected I ordered burger and all I got was a burger and a few chips no salad or dressing just the burger! The others were not much better ether. We had intentions of having pudding and coffee after the main but after the experience of the main we just paid and left never to return

Yelp
Very good meal in a very rural setting. Parking nearby was easy and service was good. Very much off the beaten track but recommended.

Yelp
Not the most touristy of spots as it is in a village about half an hour drive from Oxford. If you have a rental car, it is a beautiful scenic drive out of the hustle of the city. The patio vibes on a Sunday night were great and the menu bountiful. We started with foccacia with pesto and olive oil (8/10) and ordered a halloumi burger and meatless roast dinner. My friend's roast was divine however the burger missed the mark. The pesto was way too salty and the cheese just too much. Could have done with more veggies and less halloumi. Overall the atmosphere and prices were on point but the food left a bit to be desired.

Yelp
This is the ultimate old school country pub !! First and for all its in the most idyllic little village, in the Oxfordshire coutry side. so Just the village itself will charm you and then the pub... i don't want to rave to much.... but I cannot do this pub justice with my limited writing skills !!! It is situated at the conner of the village common and cannot be missed. The building itself like the rest of the village has a high slopping thatched roof and has an exterior similar to a country cottage but with an outdoor seating area. The pub inside has a low ceiling full of little signs from different breweries, there must be hundreds of them. The beer they carry is usually from a small country brewery which makes the the drink all the more adventurous and after speaking to the staff, I found out a lot of thought and research goes behind all the drinks they serve. Since I am not a beer drinker I had a lovely country wine... very young and light on my uneducated pallet ! And in all the quirky cuteness... there is an array of pretty little boxes at the bar for sale....they sell snuff as well !!!! when i discovered this i felt i was in a Jane Austen novel !!!I They do serve food and have a separate cute little dinning area... which serves... wholesome pub fare ! It has limited accommodation upstairs... but I was not able to see it because it was fully occupied last time I was there ! I would strongly recommend it for a day trip from London !
