Familiars Vegan Coffee Shop

I wanted to love this place as I'm a fan of their sister site Toad Style, and a fully vegan coffee shop is a great idea. It was just ok, however. I visited on a quiet Monday afternoon but didn't find the server to be especially friendly, despite them not exactly being rushed off their feet. Had the fig bagel and an oat latte, again both were ok but didn't find them to be overly special.

I was really interested in trying Familiars Vegan Coffee Shop and it did not disappoint! I got a cookies & cream doughnut, iced vanilla latte, and the caprese bagel. This was the best bagel I’ve ever had in my life! The coffee and doughnut were amazing too. The interior is cozy and full of good vibes. Their “sibling” restaurant is across the street — Toad Style (also all vegan). I definitely recommend checking them out; the food and coffee are worth the trip.

Great coffee, good pasties, great bagel sandwiches. the actual bread of the bagel is not my favorite but the final product is some of my favorite breakfast bagels I've ever had. Can't recommend the caprese one enough

Incredible. From the service to the decor and food, 5 stars. The Caprese bagel is deliriously good! Kimchi was sold out so that’s probably quite good as well. Every single thing is vegan 😍

Familiar's in Brooklyn is 100% Vegan and they had about 5 or 6 bagel sandwiches to choose from! We tried the prosciutto and fig with cream cheese and the Caprese bagel sandwich. The Caprese was my fave! Their iced vanilla latte was probably the best Latte I have ever had! It's located in a cute are in Brooklyn and right across the street is another vegan restaurant, that I think is owned by the same owner, I could be misinformed. The cafe had a cute and comfy energy. Next time I'm back in NY, I will def stop by!

Delicious spot to get vegan bagel sandwiches. I tried the one with kimchi which was very tasty. I also got a latte with rose. I love that this cafe uses oatmilk as their default for milk. Recently I tried the fig and prosciutto bagel which was such a great combo. A little smokey and sweet.

Food so bad I'm left wondering if it's a money laundering scheme. Perfect if you need a cute space to work with no one to bother you, given it's chronically empty. (Service was good, just issues with menu)

Favorite local vegan coffee spot and yes, you heard me correctly. Everything's vegan! I love to order the chai tea latte with the caprese bagel ! The service is always amazing and everyone's so friendly. They even have vegan dog treats for your furry babies. I also love the way they decorated their interior. You can sit inside or outside whichever you prefer. And just do some work, draw or just chill with your friends. Definitely try out Familiars! Highly recommend even if you're not vegan!

Familiars was a little farther out in Brooklyn than I realized but so glad we made the trek. The most delicious vegan bagel sandwiches! The fancy fig was so tasty and my husband loved the caprese (he added prosciutto).

I'm a big fan of the flavor options they have for cafe drinks--more diverse than the typical vanilla or caramel options other places have. Service is good, interior is cozy. My one critique is that it seems like the beans they use in their espresso bevs is a light roast; the acidity is strong & makes the drinks a lil sour at times.

Listen all I had was the Garden Palmer and a rainbow cookie. The Garden Palmer has elderberry which is great for the immune system. I will be back again when it's time for me to do my hair across the street.

My favorite local vegan coffee shop in Brooklyn!! I would recommend any drink with macadamia milk and my favorite bagel is the fancy fig. The service here is amazing!! Shoutout to Abi for being the sweetest barista

If you're looking for high-quality coffee/tea, vegan pastries and bagels, or default oat milk lattes, look no further. Familiars serves only the best: it's the kind of coffee (Stumptown) that is so rich with flavor that it needs no cream or sugar, and stands boldly on its own. The bagels are . You can't go wrong here.

Got black coffee, matcha latte and bagels. Solid bagels. First vegan caprese, I'd have it again. Matcha latte didn't really taste like matcha. Quick service, person was nice. If there were partial stars, we'd probably give it a 3.7

Love this neighborhood gem! There Fancy Fig bagel is so tasty and all vegan but does not skip out on any flavor! I pair this with there iced oat milk vanilla latte and it's a blissful breakfast!

My boyfriend and I love this place and the people who work there. It's a very chill spot and everyone is friendly. As far as drinks, the default milk is oat milk since it's a vegan cafe. The iced lattes are alright. I don't put any syrups/flavors but that might make them better. Anyways, the stars of the show are the bagel sandwiches. They're all full of flavor! My favorites are the cold hand cuke And the Fancy Fig bagel. Both 10/10. The only drawback I can say about this place is that everything is small. Small iced latte, small bagels. It doesn't really bother me but my boyfriend orders 2 bagels for himself every time we go.

My mother entered the establishment with a doubtful soul about vegan milks, and after quickly chugging her oat milk latte vowed to never drink the milk of a cow (or any other mammal!) ever again. "I can really taste the espresso!" - my mom

Walking down Ralph in search for coffee and breakfast. walked by it once, kept going, walked back and decided let's see. My Mom and I got the coffee and I love the taste of it. They offer a wide range of dairy free milks like oat, almond, and macadamia. My Mom got oat and I tried the macadamia which I enjoyed. Since neither of us had vegan cream cheese, we were skeptical, but someone there said it was good. My mom ordered one with figs and "prosciutto" which was sooo good. They offered a special of the day. Peanut Butter and Pickles..... I couldn't not try it. The risk taker in me wouldn't let me rest until I did. And guess what, I loved it. Even my Mom loved it. We even convinced this other guy there to get it. I will definitely be back for more coffee and possibly risqué bagel creations.

The Fancy Fig Bagel is actually life giving. It was the perfect blend of sweet and savory. It's seriously the best bagel I've ever had.The cold brew with oat was also incredibly delicious. I can't wait to try everything else. HIGHLY recommend. Oh, and delivery was prompt and efficient. Thanks guys!

Good coffee but the seating area is a little grimy and dusty. I decided to take it to go. But once I got home I found the barista's glove wrapped up in the foil with the caprese bagel I ordered. I couldn't stomach it and don't think I will try eating here again.

Is there such a thing as a perfect breakfast? It's subjective and really depends on the morning. And today, the first day of Taurus season, everything was aligned to make it happen. I had never heard of Familiars before. Found it on seamless, looking for a quick delivery and (of course!) checked reviews on Yelp. Held my breath and placed an order for the fig bagel. Disclaimers: I'm not vegan, I'm not a fan of tofu cream cheese, I'm not a fan of figs, I've never had a good vegan bagel. I know, it was like a set up for failure. I was happily, pleasantly surprised! The fig and prosciutto are some of the best things I've ever eaten. The bagel itself was awesome - crispy outside, soft inside. And the latte was so awesome, I wish they made larger sizes. Will def order again! (One star off, bc the latte spilled a bit)

I was visiting friends in the neighborhood and thought I would try this place out. They were great on two separate days the staff was very friendly and quick with the cappuccino and food. I would highly recommend the Fancy Fig bagel. It is delicious. I will be visiting them again when I am back in town.

I love their fancy fig bagel but i literally just came home, unwrapped the tinfoil to find a hair on top of my bagel Im so hungry idk if i should throw it away or cut off the piece the hair touched. Every time i walk in their baristas are not wearing masks Will not be going back

Kimchi bagel is SOOOO good! I am not a vegan but truly enjoy the tofu cream cheese in the bagels. Would also recommend trying the Garden Palmer! Beautiful purple colored drink that quenches your thirst! 100000/10 recommend stopping by!

I'm not a vegan, but I am a former vegetarian who consciously makes efforts to try meatless options, and I'm sensitive to dairy, so having this in my neighborhood has been awesome. My favorite thing is the Garden Palmer, which is an elderflower-infused tea and lemonade drink that looks like purple watercolor in a cup. It's not too sweet and not too tart, so you don't feel like you're developing diabetes. I've also tried the donuts. The French toast one is my favorite but I've also gotten the chocolate glazed with peanuts. The French toast one tastes just like maple syrup and eggy batter, but without all the guilt of eating a giant serving of French toast or eggs if that's your thing. My sister got a coffee with oat milk and said it was really good. I'm not a coffee drinker so I'll defer to her on this one. If you live in the neighborhood this is a great place to chill for a bit in the mornings as it's quiet. I like the little sitting area outside, too.

Wow- so wonderful. Stumbled upon it by accident and had a wonderful latte, and an AMAZING prosciutto bagel sandwich (all vegan) that I will be going out of my way to come back for again. 10/10!!

Beer lox bagel was amazing , super flavorful & the bagel itself was incredible. Also ordered a iced oat milk latte which rounded off the meal. Would definitely recommend to anyway in the Bushwick/Bedstuy area for a quick vegan breakfast.

Wonderful find in the neighborhood. Very friendly cafe, good vegan eats. Got the drip coffee with oat milk... Beet lox everything bagel loaded with tofu cream cheese. Delicious. Staff was incredibly friendly and fast. No line as people keep coming in as we enjoyed our bagels.

Really great service with great cider on a cold morning made for staying indoors. Decided to stick around to observe and found the setting to be pleasant and easygoing. Lots of seating for such a tiny place.

Pretty decent vegan cafe with a small amount of seating and a basic but solid selection. I went with the bagel with vegan cream cheese on my first visit to be safe (not quite up for the more complex bagel sandwiches just yet). I also tried the cinnamon donut, which was my favorite by far (can't remember which vegan donut company made it but fantastic!) I wouldn't call this a work cafe or a cafe that is decent for relaxing with a friend over coffee, it's more of a stop in and pop out type of place. Looking forward to what else this cafe comes up with food wise!

This place is THE BOMB! My boyfriend and I devoured their bagel sandwiches. We tried three of them right off that bat and were so impressed by the quality, care, and presentation. I would have to say the beet lox one was my personal favorite but honestly all of them are delicious. Very clean tasting, greatly organized setting, nice seating, and very friendly staff. We're very happy there's another vegan business in the neighborhood! Definitely support this place. I cannot wait to see them grow and expand their menu even more.

I tried to tap check in a accidentally hit the review button and by default went to 5 stars. Thank you yelp gods for your assistance. Ordered the fancy gig and some blueberry flour non-caffeinated drink. OMG...I am now laying on the couch after calling in sick because I want to sleep it was so good and comforting. The blueberry drink was not at all what I expected. I thought it was going to be a sugar rush but it was just the right balance of sweetness along with a great slightly grainy texture. That bagel...I don't have an expansive enough vocabulary to describe it. Leave it at that.

Pretty solid gentrified coffeeshop. I'll admit the coffee (Stumptown) is pretty decent however, the service was horrible. First time visiting this place this morning (2/18/2022) and the girl behind the counter was so rude. ZERO personality and ZERO customer service skills. I thought it was just me but she greeted the next guy the same way. Hopefully she can get some more training.....Sadly, good customer service is getting harder and harder to find.

I want to love this place as the food is decent... but they do their best to f*ck everything up. They have got our order wrong 3 out of 3 times. They don't answer the phones. They have a good thing going they just need a complete staff overhaul.

Familiars Vegan Coffee Shop is truly a gem of the area. Was actually surprised with the area where this is located. Every single thing is made fresh. The service was awesome. They were quick, efficient, and got everything right. Definitely be back for more.

I just found out about this place through Instagram last week and I have been a frequent customer. It's a very cozy place to get a good vegan breakfast. The staff is very friendly and polite and another reason to keep on coming back. I LOVE the bagels and donuts they have but I do PLEASE SUGGEST that you guys serve more variety of donuts!!! My favorite is cinnamon raisin (wink wink.)

I love this place so much. The bagels combos are so good. We love getting two and then splitting half-and-half for that sweet-salty goodness. Our fave combo is the Fancy Fig and the Cool Hand Cuke. And the baristas are so friendly and warm, it just makes me so happy. They are respecting social distancing, too. I also love Toad Style across the street for lunch and dinner, but that's for another day. Thanks for making my morning, Familiars!

Vegan coffee means coffee and espresso drinks made with plant based milks. This spot is clean, brews Stumptown, and serves up Dunwell donuts. There are only a handful of small tops with seats so better to get your caffeine to go.

I love this place! This cozy vegan coffee makes the best lattes! Lovely staff and a small but delicious menu. Great prices too! Love, love, love Familiars!

Want a vegan donut? Check. Want a delicious vegan bagel with some artisanal flavors or just a plain bagel and cream cheese? Check. Want some strong coffee to get you going on your day? Check. They have a lot of options for drinks I've not tried yet but I'm excited to do so. the beet "lox" and the kimchi bagel are my favorite! The default late is oat milk and is delicious. I always enjoy the tunes and the owners who run the shop run the delicious toad style across the way as well. Oh! When I was sick I ordered the vegan chicken noodle soup and was delighted. Just like at toad style I'd recommend following their Instagram to see any specials they may have, always helps me know what may be new

As someone who is trying to cut dairy out of her diet, I am so grateful that Familiars popped up. Not only are their lattes dynamite, the staff is also great - always friendly and welcoming. Glad to have something like this in the neighborhood!

My boyfriend and I's favorite vegan cafe in Brooklyn! I'm from Cleveland so whenever I visit we make Familiars a priority on our "To Do List." We always get tofu cream cheese on an everything bagel and a PB&J Donut. In the words of my bf, "I never even liked cream cheese before but this tofu cream cheese is the best I've ever had." Can't wait to visit again and try other menu options!

I think about the Caprese bagel nonstop. Like all the time. Like right now, I'm writing this review because I can't stop thinking about it. They're so dang good. I'm obsessed with this place! The folks who work here are always so friendly and everything is tasty and I can't get enough tbh.

The best coffee I've had in the neighborhood. The bagels are stuffed and quite unique. The standard milk that comes with every coffee is oat, which is what dreams are made out of. There are some cool fancy things such as beet latte and such. This is a very great place!

A nice neighborhood vegan spot that is not too expensive. I got an iced latte and a French toast donut and it was about $7.50. The coffee was good and strong, and the donut did not taste vegan it just tasted sweet and delicious. I took away a star just because it has been difficult to try this place with its limited hours, I'm almost never home when it's actually open. Hope that's not harsh! Otherwise it's a great coffee spot.

I just went for some coffee and the barista was so nice to unlock the door and serve me even though I got there late. Mad respect thanks again.

I LOVE this place. It's, by far, my favorite coffee shop in the area. The Fancy Fig bagel is incredible. Vegan prosciutto, fig jam, arugula, and cream cheese. Wow. I've brought family members and friends here and everyone has loved it. The servers are some of the best around. They are perfectly welcoming, accommodating, and kind. Highly highly recommend!
