Famous Sichuan

Well the food is alright; tried their orange chicken which has a pretty good flavor. What I’m worried about is how fresh the chicken is. Has a weird texture to it, and the meat also looked different. So I’m not entirely confident how fresh their food is. Soup came free, but I did not try it as it came with mushrooms which I hate. Surprisingly, I was the only one in the restaurant, and still took them about 20 mins just to take the order. The place being completely empty is a red flag. The lady was casually talking to some people while I sat at the next table for 20 mins for her to take the order. Extremely poor service.

I had an amazing experience at this Chinese restaurant. The food was simply outstanding. The flavors were rich and authentic, transporting me straight to the heart of China. The Peking Roast Duck was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the spicy Sichuan dishes had just the right amount of heat. The service was excellent - the staff was friendly, attentive, and efficient. The restaurant's ambiance was warm and inviting. I will definitely be coming back for more!

Worst lunch special ever! Avoid this place!!! The grade from health department is still pending. This place is such a mess!!! I regretted right away after the hot soup was served with a plastic spoon. The rice was not even warm. The lady was busy with her phone and the place was such a terrible mess!!! Can’t believe I chose such a place since I am in Chinatown where lots of good food can be found.

We stop by and had a good experience. We had beef and broccoli, shredded beef with pepper and bean curd and chicken low mein. The food was delicious, the shredded beef was great.

Loved this place! My two gripes were that I noticed the water was already "made" upon entry - just a few ice cubes were added and then brought to us (and I watched them melt in less than a minute), and the menu is SOOOO extensive.. literally over 150 items/preparations to choose from. Picking an entree felt like taking a standardized test with no prep. But the food was AMAZING! Our table had cold noodles, orange chicken, pork fried rice and double cooked pork. 10/10 would recommend.

8/5/22 update: I came again to try to the Braised beef fillet with Sichuan sauce. I placed my order and went to the bathroom to wash my hands. There was no soap so I told the front desk lady. While I was waiting outside the bathroom for her to refill it, I see one of the workers go into the bathroom, spend a couple minutes in there and then leave to go back to a table in the restaurant he was working at, where he continues to fill dumplings with meat with his bare hands. Knowing that he just used the bathroom and at best washed his hands with water but without soap, needless to say, I will never return to this disgusting place. 3/1/22 visit: Had the "Chong qing spicy dry chicken" and the "Cumin lamb." Both were excellent. The chicken was a $12.95 lunch special (available 11am to 5pm M-F). The cumin lamb wasn't on the lunch special list but the lady was nice enough to give it to me as I had to wait a bit to order. The interior is a bit dark and dingy; the place could use a renovation or at least some more lighting, but the food made up for it. Next time I want to try the "Braised beef with Sichuan chili sauce."

Google has a picture of delicious looking beef noodle soup that was posted under 'Chowbus". So based on that, and the boss recommending the beef noodle soup, ordered that. It was rather disappointing, no relation to the photo that had been posted, which the boss said is not a picture of their food. So the first important note to patrons is don't look at the pics posted because many to most of them are from Chow Bus, which apparently are random general pics, not pics of this restaurant's food. Now my review of THIS restaurant's beef noodle soup: Lackluster. Slightly below average. Beef was lean, dry, somewhat tough muchly thin slices (not braised beef with soft chewy tendon). Soup base was spicy (good) but thin and kind of on the watery side compared to others with thicker bases. Noodles were very soft and over-cooked - no they the way I like in beef noodle soup. It wasn't horrible, but for over $20 before tip, this beef noodle soup wasn't worth it and no reason for me to return. :(

The food was absolutely amazing!! The broiled whole fish in chili sauce was delicious. The spicy stir fry in the hot pot was also very good. And the service was great the people working there were very kind. I would recommend everyone come to this restaurant soon! Very good Szechuan food.

Better than average with huge portion sizes. I really enjoyed the eggplant as well as the Dan Dan noodles. The hot and sour soup came in a huge bowl, but was just ok. The fried soft shell crab was served in pieces (rather than whole) and was good but better when eaten with the other foods.

My favorite item from this restaurant is their Sichuan fish slices that come in spicy soup with lettuce and bean sprouts on the bottom. It warms your belly and pairs perfectly with white rice. The inside has a lot of space and was relatively spacious at night. We also ordered a side of the chilled chicken slices and it was amazing. It was my first time trying something like this and the peanut butter sauce and sesame seeds worked so well.

I came here on a recent Saturday night for a late night dinner in the downtown area. We were looking for a sit down restaurant open late, which seems rare these days. It's refreshing to see a restaurant stay open past 10pm on the weekend, in this case, until 2am, especially below Houston Street. The restaurant was not particularly packed probably given the timing but we were hungry so we ordered the beef chow fun, some sauteed greens, some veggie dumplings, and some Szechuan lamb dish. Our food was made fairly quickly and was tasty. The Szechuan lamb dish definitely had a bit of a kick to it. The greens were good. Chow fun was good too. The portions were big. If I'm being honest I've definitely had better Chinese food and the ambiance is fine for what it is. But it's hard to find a good sit down restaurant open late these days downtown.

Gross no flavor undercooked food. Shockingly bad but we were starving after arriving into town

Not authentic, tasteless, and oily. We ordered chili wontons, chili cucumbers, spicy hot pot, and twice cooked pork. The spicy hot pot was ok, but everything else was meh. The wontons was legit bad: texture of the wonton meat and skin were off and the dish lacked flavor. Do not come here if you want authentic Sichuan food

Map tofu 22 bucks without rice. Rip off!! Fraud restaurant! Thomas Moore Don't worry my 800+ residents will know to steer clear. To cheap to include rice on a 22 dollar tofu meal, mapo tofu 22$ without rice. Disgraceful

Wow! It reminded me a little of the Dr. Who police box, tiny and unassuming on the outside and opens to wonders. This place looks like an old barely surviving restaurant from the outside, and opens into a newly updated beautiful interior. There's sometimes only one person handling those seated inside... and with plenty of packing for pick up and delivery... she's often really busy. But always with a smile, and a help. Right off the bat we were offered a free bowl of soup. I had the hot and sour, and it was spicy, but not killer spicy... just right. Everyone got different main courses, and no one was disappointed. The fried dumplings were slightly more popular in our party than the steamed ones. The main dishes (I had the tripe) were all cooked just right and had a kick... but NOT a boot to the face. No room for dessert, so I can't report on that. The portions were all generous.

It was very hot inside the restaurant and there were alot of flies. The food was OK, it wasn't great but it wasn't bad.

Wow-this is a terrible restaurant. We were one of two tables when we arrived. It took me 3X to order and receive my drink. It is also very expensive for the terrible food- we ordered the oil-doused braised beef, which was so tough that I had to use my spoon AND chopsticks to cut it (my normally functional human front teeth didn't work for this); the yang chow fried rice was overly salted and had two pieces of shrimp in it, total. (See photos.) I ordered a small soup as an appetizer. It came halfway through the dinner. Both front servers were using the mirrored pillars to groom themselves and tie up their hair, which is disgusting AND against the health code. They also didn't wash their hands after, handling all the food, opening beers, and touching the rims of the beer bottles and rice tops with their hands. Also they give you plastic spoons to eat with, despite having metal spoons. In a boiling soup.

A hidden gem the food is absolutely amazing the service was great the food came out right on time! This place is very popular they had a lot of delivery service! The inside is very clean and feels authentic great seating for small and big parties. They have a lot of options to choose from and the waitresses answered all our questions!

I am a member of the US Military and went with four fellow service members during Fleet Week. We were in uniform and as such the owner incorrectly assumed I was not a local. The bill came and i added a tip that was undeserved as the food and service were both sub par. The bill for the five of us was $224.00 including the tip which i put on my credit card. When my statement arrived, three days later, I was charged $4724.00. I contacted my cc company , who asked for the original receipt which I didn't have, apparently they added a $4500.00 tip. I returned to the restaurant to get a copy of the receipt, the owner was extremely uncooperative and pretended you did not know English at all. She also acted very surprised to see me, as I mentioned earlier we were in uniform and she assumed I was from out of town and would be unable to follow up. I filed a police report and just today did an interview with a local media outlet that is assisting me. The story will be on the news in the next few days. Do not under ANY circumstances patronize this place as they are brazen thieves, even willing to rip off US Service members.

There's not much open in Chinatown after midnight but there's always Famous Sichuan to rustle up some good luck taste. "Ni hao," I said. "Welcome back Foo." "You seen Adam Richman?" "No, not yet, he come though, Man vs Sichuan he always say! What you have Foo?" "Tsing Tao and sweet and sour crispy fish." "Coming right up number one best late night customer, Foo Ling!" So I leaned back in my chair, and looked around at this little late night gem. Not many like it anymore. The decor is as it always was and will ever be. It was lovingly beat up and barely maintained but warm, comfy and broken in. At a large table sharing plates were three young Chinese couples, laughing in Cantonese. "Here your Tsing Tao, Foo." "Xie Xie." The crispy fish was delish, beer cold, night late. I got up to leave and Adam comes in. "Hey, Foo!" said Adam. "Hey Adam, I'm tired, walking home, sorry homes." "No problem Foo, it's good to see you and it's beautiful out tonight so I'll just sit outside and have a midnight snack!" "Or two!" I said with laugh and a wave as I walked down Pell back towards Mott.

Gave me the completely wrong order. Ordered Steamed Happy Family (Steamed chicken, shrimp and pork with vegetables). Got a half filled plate of steamed crab, beef, 2 bay scallops, 3 baby shrimp and no veggies at all. Woman at the front was on a personal cell phone call the entire time and didnt care. Also overcharged me and took my card out of my hand and tapped the CC machine

I've only ever ordered takeout from this restaurant, never ate in. However, I have always been pleased with the good. My go to is usually the Singapore noodles. Tonight, I ordered dinner for my husband and I. The order was much later than expected so I called the restaurant for an ETA. The food arrived later then the late ETA. When the food arrived, I got a rude and angry message from the delivery person after he threw the food outside my door. If there was an issue, he could have waited 30 seconds for me to answer. This delivery person was from the restaurant not the delivery service, Seamless. The issue he had was the he felt I ordered too far away. This restaurant came up on my seamless feed and was in my delivery range. I am located in Greenwich Village, honestly not too far away. If the restaurant has an issue with the delivery range, it would be appreciated if that gets updated instead of delivery people sending nasty messages.

Bland and insipid food and expensive. Very disappointing take-out experience. Much better options in the area. Famous Sichuan? More like famously bad Sichuan.

Great service and delicious hot pot -- we came here on a rainy day at around midnight and were so grateful they're open late. Very convenient how it's a restaurant that serves both Sichuan food as well as hot pot, since they use the portable hot pot burners. The meat was delicious and so were the sides, although they were out of quail eggs when we went. We had to pay extra for the dipping sauce but with the broth you don't really need it unless you want the extra salt.

1030PM on a Wednesday and this is the last resort. The flavor is okay, but it's the lack of skill that I think has to be questioned. I am giving this a 3 instead of a 2 because we stayed till 1145PM on a Wednesday night and the staff was friendly and tried their best without AC. The good: lots of things on the menu The bad: lots of things on the menu We had a produce sticker on the bell pepper inside of our hot clay pot (see Pic 3, bad lighting) Food: 1. Xiao Lung Bao Meat was not marinated long enough but still tasty No meat juice inside, which makes or brakes the Xiao Lung Bao 2. Fried Dumplings Thick, thick dough but still tasty The fail of the meal 3. Bitter Melon Spare Rib Clay Pot The spare ribs were very chewy But taste was till okay Surprise jalapeño 4. Onion pancake Free onion pancake because of what happened with the clay pot Hilight of entire meal albeit the fact the onion was slightly more on the fried side Price: $48 total for 1 entree and 2 small eats/appetizers It's not cheap but remember, it's almost 12AM on a Wednesday when we finished

the only reason to eat here is if everything else is closed or you have a thing for below average sichuan or Chinese. Everything was oily, nothing was spicy, over salted, the chili oil dumplings were cold in the middle. The prices are $22+ for a dish. They do put a lot of food on the plate but I left half on the table cause it just wasn't worth it. They also charge a credit card fee of $2.50 which you don't have to pay.

Food quality has declined. Sichuan cucumbers had no garlic. The dan dan noodles were boring, absolutely no ma-la. Sichuan food should have flavors jumping off the plate.

Came here with Pulsd deal with one appetizer and two main ($20 each) and two drinks. Saturday lunch was empty. Apart from us there was another table at noon on a weekend. So service was fast. Most of the famous Sichuan dishes are 29.90 which is very expensive compare to the Sichuan restaurants nearby. So we ended up couldn't order the ones we wanted; I guess that what the deal I got so I have no complain. But for the price in this place I would not come back without any sort of discount. I saw they have $35 for $50 on yelp deal. Instead of giving discount why not just try to lower the price. The fish fillet in chili sauce is good spicy but nothing really special. Lamb with cumin also taste very decent. The steam chicken with chili oil (口水鸡）doesn't taste like anywhere I had before, not spicy at all the with funky taste. Tan tan noodle was very disappointing, the noodles were cooked too long and was broken apart, despite not having enough sauce to mix it.

The service was quite lovely and prompt, but the food is... mediocre at best. I ordered the spicy dry chicken, Singapore noodles, and mapo tofu. The chicken was overwhelmingly breading and very little chicken, the noodles were still powdery from the curry powder (and somehow still wet?), and the mapo tofu was greasy. The portions were also surprisingly small given the prices (this came out to about $80, which is expensive as far as Chinatown goes). Overall, if you're looking for late-night food, Yunshang noodle bar around the corner will definitely be a better pick.

Very pricey for the lack of quality. The Seafood Delight came with shrimp, squid, tiny bay scallops, fake crab meat, and assortment of vegetables for $32. There wasn't much flavor on the bay scallops. For that price, they should've used sea scallops. Shrimp was overcooked and poorly deveined with poop chute still attached. There wasn't much squid, so they compensated with an over abundace of fake crab meat. Ma Po Tofu was watery and thin in flavor. Tofu was fresh but needed to stew longer for better flavor. Water spinach was the best dish which was fresh and flavorful. Not the worst place to eat, but there are better places to try for the price they charged.

Good. Despite what the other reviews say, sometimes you need to give people in life a chance. This restaurant was good during a quiet Sunday night which originally was a little off putting considering that busy restaurants are a good sign to most people. Since the restaurant wasn't busy, our party of four definitely benefitted from the great service and the kind manager. It was my first time having both hot pot and family style meals at the same time (food overload!) There was triple flash fried chicken, dumplings with chili oil, water simmered beef in hot chili oil, double stir fried pork, then of course the hot pot meals. We had a double broth of both sichuan hot chili flavored and regular chicken broth. We also had many glass noodles to share, tofu, fish balls and the list goes on! To finish this all we ended the meal with a desert soup: egg & black sesame ball soup. The reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because the restaurant really does care and goes the extra distance to impress, however there may have been some logistical mishaps from previous visits by other Yelpers that shines the wrong light on this restaurant. Things the restaurant should change to improve: not charge for sauce, lower the prices on some entrees and staff more people during peak hours. Would return!

Ok place to get spicy Chinese food. The restaurant is not very clean. The table is greasy.

Doesn't look like much when you're walking pass this place, but the food we got was delicious, definitely would come back and recommend these dishes, I'd say I'd recommend the place because the waitress/ host was really nice and helpful in getting us our table and getting our food at a good time, definitely try this place out.

A tad overpriced for Sichuan in Chinatown. $9 for a small bowl of soggy dandan noodles. $20 salt and pepper squid, slightly greasy. $20 mayo shrimp, thickly battered with burnt walnuts and broccoli. Flavor was all good, execution is just lacking too much. Chili oil stains on tea pot; not too much care in presentation here. Our bill arrived before dessert arrived. Its clear why a deal is offered on Groupon.

Edible but not worth it. Got some normal mainstay schezuan dishes. Like the chicken with the peppercorns. Ended up getting soggy chicken with just the black seeds lol. Got some dumplings that tasted like it came from krogers freezer isle. 2 stars, edible.

MMM. Famous Sichuan is nestled on Pell Street... fending off the competition of Joe's Shanghai right on the other side of the street. I have to say, this place is delicious. The space is clean, neat, and well-lit, showcasing traditional Chinese ornaments all around. They offer standard hotpot: available with the two-flavor pots, as well as hot banquet style dishes. We went with the hotpot AND hot foods. Starting with the hotpot... all ingredients were fresh and tasty. For meats we went with beef, beef tripe, pork and for veggies the standard spread: enoki mushroom, pea shoots, spinach, potatoes, etc. The non-spicy broths are chicken-based while the spicy broths are filled with peppercorn and chili peppers. Both are delicious. For mains, we ordered: - Water-boiled beef - The beef was tender and packed the traditional szechuan spice flavor. Scattered with bean sprouts, each bite was super enjoyable. - Double-cooked pork - My favorite dish of the night. Thinly sliced pieces of pork, double cooked to perfection and oozing with flavor. So good. Definitely try it. - Chong Qing chicken - Lightly fried while soft and warm inside. For those of you who do not know this traditional Sichuan dish, it's kind of like popcorn chicken... but asian (and better ;)) For dessert we got the Sweet Soup with Sesame balls and oh my god... Excellent food with great flavor!! Our favorite main had to be the dan dan noodles, so much flavor but I wish it was a little spicier, it's pretty mild and I think most can handle it. Out favorite small dish was definitely the spicy pork dumplings, highly recommend as well but has a little bit more of a kick (but still very mild). Delivery was also veryyyy fast and the food was fresh, great experience!!

This is my go to restaurant whenever I visit Chinatown. The food is so authentic and delicious. It's a family run business and the people there are so friendly. The price is also very reasonable, in fact way cheaper than other similar restaurants.

Disappointing experience. Very slow service, out of the veggie dish we wanted, tiny bowls of rice for 2-2.50 each! All menu items were wildly overpriced. 20 bucks for veggie dishes? Even the fish dish, while authentic in spicing, was not a lot of meat. So many better choices in the city.

I was supposed to get "Sichuan Spicy Chicken"" they ended up giving me which looks and tastes like ordinary chinese takeout Chicken With Broccoli. Lame.

The service and food here was incredible! Definitely a go-to spot in the area, especially for hot pot. Everything we ordered was prepared perfectly and there's a great range of things to choose from. Highly recommend the Chong Qing Spicy Dry Chicken (literally might be the best I've ever had).

A review with taste notes coming from a Sichuan gal: This IS authentic Sichuan food in NYC. Do not come here if you are expecting any fluff. I got the Mao Xue Wang (毛血旺）with two bowls of rice and my boyfriend got the sesame noodles (with extra peanut sauce). The noodles were tangy and refreshing and the perfect portion, while my dish-- oh my god-- I could rave on and on about. The balance of spicy red peppers and black peppercorn with a pinch of finely chopped garlic made an epic soup base. Not spicy enough to make me want to die, but tasty enough to please my (masochistic?) tongue. Even my boyfriend's friend who was "not hungry" and never tried real sichuan food before scarfed it up with us. The vegetables and meat (they were out of pig blood that night as it was 2am) were perfectly portioned and we ate it all by pouring the soup and goodies on the rice. The jasmine rice was fresh and soaked up the epic flavor. Do not eat the peppercorns! Unless you want to play a game with your friends of "who can chew the most peppercorns and numb your whole mouth without crying first (which we did). I personally like chewing on one between bites just for fun-- assuredly, it does not mess up your taste buds during the meal. The owner and servers were on top of getting dishes out in time and were so sweet. This will be the place I go to every time I am back in New York. Thank you for existing, 川外川！ P.S. It was not overly-oily at all. Not only that, all our tummies felt fantastic the next day!

This place has gone way down in quality and up in cost over the years. Tonight I ordered my favorite - Kung Pao Chicken, and I was so sad to see that they have decided to cheap out by deep frying the chicken, to the point where the pieces are 70% batter and 30% chicken. This is NOT how Kung pao chicken is supposed to be made!! I will not make the mistake of returning here.

We've been looking forward to trying authentic Szechuan cuisine for some time now, but Famous Sichuan did not live up to our expectations. The restaurant is conveniently located in central Chinatown, surrounded by many cafes, bakeries, and close to the MTA. It is a large and simple space, comfortably able to fit 100+ guests. We did not have to wait in line or need reservation. The service was prompt and the friendly waitress often checked up on us. After asking for recommendations for population dishes, we decided to get the dan dan noodles ($10), sesame chicken $(18) and beef in cumin ($19$). We did not feel that any of the dishes were particularly impressive. The sesame chicken was not different from what I'd get at my local Chinese food spot for half the price, and the beef cumin was tasty and fragrant, but doused in oil so I could not finish it. Our favorite was the dan dan noodles, which were delicate but flavorful. Ultimately, we felt that the dishes were expensive considering the flavor and quality were average. We saw several tables have the hot pot so that may be the safer option to choose if you're heading to this spot.

Honestly came in with mediocre expectations since I haven't heard much buzz and it was a convenient place around the corner, but this place was great - right amount of heat for someone like me who can't handle spicy foods too much, homey flavors, good comfort food. The restaurant was not too busy, so servers were super attentive and made some great suggestions. Some highlights from the night: - water boiled beef: a Sichuan classic, but not too spicy (perfect for me but may be different for those spice lovers). The beef was very tender and not overly oily. - Chong Qing chicken: looks and smells like popcorn chicken. The dish looked intimidating with a lot of chili peppers but I found it to be the right amount of heat. - hot pot: not all you can eat, but pretty good for a la carte. The beef was thinly sliced, Ingredients seemed fresh and clean- what more can i ask for. Only note is that you have to order each component of the sauce, which is similar to other a la carte hot pot places. - dessert soup with black sesame balls: tasted just like home!!

One of the few Szechuan restaurants in Chinatown, and I was pleasantly surprised! My friend and I ordered two lunch specials: the 回鍋肉 (twice cooked pork or double sautéed pork) and the 麻婆豆腐 (MaPo tofu). Was delicious. Tasted authentic. Not too oily. Not too salty. We got takeout (as we are in corona times). For the cherry on top, the owner stretched to make us feel comfortable while we waited for the food. Gave us chairs to sit outside. She is very warm and kind-hearted.

I visited this restaurant recently, during the 2020 Pandemic when most Asian restaurants were closed. My initial plan was to visit Wo Hop, which was open according to Google Maps, and so I took a 30 minute ride from my home in Staten Island to Wo Hop, only to read a sign that they were closed until further notice. It was 10 O'clock at night, I was hungry, and nothing was open. 10pm in NYC and nothing open? Very hard to believe! But it sure seemed that way. Google Maps was unreliable because of the Covid-19 crisis and due to so many restaurant closures and so I figured I'd check up on other by driving to them. And so I drove around the empty, and eerie streets of Chinatown hoping to find something open. Joe Shanghai had closed at 8pm and the restaurants that were open for business all seemed to close early. And so I was about to call it a night and was a bit disappointed that I had driven 30 minutes from Staten Island for no reason. And then all of a sudden I noticed a Grubhub biker riding down Pell street and stopping near the Famous Sichuan restaurant. I then noticed a neon sign on the window that read "hot pot." The Grubhub driver entered the building and I was overcome with joy to find out that I was going to get some good ol' Chinatown Cantonese after all! So enough drama; lets get to the review. I ordered some dumplings and General Tso Chicken as well as their salt and pepper squid.Their menu was astonishing, it was huge and long and full of authentic Sichuan recipes, with the occasional Cantonese/American stuff mixed in, which is what I went for. The food was very good, but you come here for the authentic stuff. That's probably what they specialize in. If you want Chinese/American go to Wo Hop (when they open) but as for authentic, I think this place is the place to go, perhaps even over Joe Shanghai, which is less hardcore than this place for sure! Just check out their menu!

The food was over 2 hours late. Delivered by the restaurant not a service. Called 3 times and they told me each time it would be there in 10 minutes. The last call they told me they were sending me a new one, basically confirming they never had our order coming in the first place. When it arrived it was not hot and mediocre at best.

Last night a friend & I had dinner at Famous Sichuan on Pell St. in Chinatown. I had a Living Social Deal to this restaurant. I paid $25 and got a $50 certificate. We started our meal with drinks. I had a Diet Coke he had a Tsingtao. For an appetizer we chose cold noodles in sesame sauce. It had a very rich, peanutty flavor. I found it to be a bit salty but very good. I ordered Tea Smoked Duck for dinner. Delicious! As soon as they brought it I could smell the aroma of tea. The duck was perfect, not greasy but not dried out. He had Salt & Pepper squid, one of my favorites. I reached over & grabbed a piece, and it was great. Fresh, nicely seasoned, and very tasty. Service was good, but there seemed to be only one young waiter for the group of diners who were there last evening. He had some help with water and such, but he was mostly alone which meant a little bit of a wait getting the check. However, he was pleasant, helpful, offered good suggestions and was very accommodating. Definitely worth the visit!

I've only ordered delivery from here and I can appreciate that it's open late night, especially for those of us who have constant munchies. However, they have been late with their order on more on than one occasion. Food is pretty good, but it also depends on what you get. The Sichuan style cold cucumbers were way too oily and the egg drop soup here tastes a little off. I'm not quite sure what it was, maybe the eggs weren't fresh or something. The jellyfish with scallion was pretty good though.

My friend and I live in the area and were hungry at around 11. There weren't many options for late night food in the area so we decided to eat at famous Sichuan. This was a big mistake... The food here is quiet awful it lacks the mala flavor and is very bland, not spicy at all. On top of that the check came out to $35 a person. Not what I'd expect when the quality of the food was so low. While I was walking back after eating there my stomach became upset and I got food poisoning . Worst meal in Ny so far.

Use a Groupon and they will screw you royally!!! They put in tax on the ASSUME value... let say you buy the Groupon for $39.. apparently the actual value is $72... even if you didn't actually buy $72 worth of crap... they want to tag on a 15 percent tip for a $72 assume value.. actually the total may just come up to let say $55. Anyway, the point is cuz you used a Groupon, they want to recoup and jack up your bill... I was only expecting to pay $2 for the rice plus tax and leave a $6 tip for a Groupon valued for $39 but they just really are completely deceptive! And you have no freakn idea until they foot you the bill!! Look at my picture! And the food is just ok... mediocre junk... YES!! I confronted the "boss lady".. she subtracted the double tax of a buck n change... I told her about the bullshat charges and she did nothing.. I left what was actually generous.. Advice to the restaurant!! DO NOT SIGN UP TO DO GROUPON IF YOU CAN'T DEAL WITH THE COST OF BUSINESS... YOUR COMPANY WILL GO DOWN THE DRAIN IF YOU KEEP THIS UP!, I like to hear the rebuttal from the owner...
