I visited on a Friday evening. It’s a small place with just 4 counter seats and space for another 30 or so people on regular tables. They seem to have an early and later sitting, as most of the restaurant vacated with crowds of new people arriving just after we did.
We were 2 people who opted for the tasting menu. This comprises 12 courses of which 7 are single pieces of nigiri, hence not a huge quantity of food although still more generous versus some other omakase experiences. We did order a couple of extra items towards the end. The food was excellent. High quality sushi with some creativity on display. It’s hard to pick a favourite but it seemed to get better as the meal progressed, which is always preferable. It was interesting to see that most other tables went à la carte and we saw quite a few different items being delivered that were not on the tasting menu. More to try next time then!
Service was a bit of a weak spot. The servers were very friendly and genuine but at the same time they came across as inexperienced. It took over 15 minutes after being initially seated just to be offered water. After eventually placing our order, 10 min later we were asked by another member of staff if we wanted to see the menu! You get the idea. After requesting them to pick up the pace, we were done within 2.5 hours which is within reason for a 12 course menu, but it still all felt a bit disorganised.
The bill for our meal came to £434 of which £134 was spent on drinks. Overall a very enjoyable meal out, the food outshadowed the patchy service, albeit I hope they can improve on the latter over time (it has been 6 months since they opened which is long enough in my view). 4.5 stars overall and I would rank it above the Eel Sushi Bar, the other hot new opening in the area.
Note: the pictures capture the entirety of the tasting menu except for one item that I forgot (hotate yuzu).
