The Best Pizza in Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"Operating out of Northeast’s Fair State Brewing, chef JohnMichael Lynch uses local Baker’s Field whole-grain flour and natural leavening to create richly flavored crusts for his seasonal pies. Much of the menu is devoted to Neapolitan pizzas, including a traditional margherita with hand-pulled mozzarella. But don’t overlook the Detroit-style Italian Stallion loaded with Bolognese sauce, ricotta, and basil puree. Farina Rossa also pops up seasonally at Bang Brewing in St. Paul." - Stacy Brooks

Meet Farina Rossa, the Pop-Up From a Sourdough Pizza-Tossing Travail Alum | Eater Twin Cities

"Chef John Michael Lynch (aka chef JM) launched Farina Rossa as a seasonal pizza pop-up, spending much of his time obsessing over crust and using a seven-flour sourdough blend that includes Kernza. I’ve seen the pies served through the summer at St. Paul’s Bang Brewing and sometimes at Red Wagon; toppings are bright and seasonal, from arugula heaped with crispy parmesan flakes to roasted sweet potato with pear and sage, and sweet corn with avocado salsa and chile-roasted chicken. Lynch describes Farina Rossa’s philosophy as rooted in the old-school idea of unprocessed, freshly milled flour — “red flour” — and he’s carrying that seven-flour blend into a tasting-menu dinner series where it will appear in every dish." - Justine Jones

Farina Rossa does not miss. The whole menu is absolutely delicious so you can't go wrong! Their Detroit-style pizzas are a MUST, but you can't miss out on the Neapolitan either. Unique pizzas, fresh ingredients, and always some delicious seasonal apps too.

Im a pizza connoisseur by birth, if that’s possible. This place- their pizza blew my mind. There was a bit of a wait, but it was worth the wait! Toppings, sauce was amazing, crust was light, fluffy and taste fantastic. I had not eaten all day, and I ordered take out. Before I could get into my car to drive off I decided to try a slice, it was so good my son gave me an awkward look just by the way I was acting. I can really taste the love, passion and hard work you put into your food! 🫡 I’ll be back for sure! Thank you.

I thought it was great! It’s inside the brewery next door, not sure if they have their own space or not but we ate in the brewery. It is a smaller space, we got there in time for a table but by the time we left people were sharing tables/standing so you might want to go earlier in the night to get a good seat. We got the sayzar salad which was great! Loved every bite. We also got a Detroit style pizza. It’s got what appears to be a whole wheat crust which if it is that’s great because it still tasted wonderful. We added hot honey to ours which I would recommend. We got grape soda on tap but they have lots of alcoholic, non alcoholic, thc/cbd drinks for there or to go. We parked on the street, it was free but a pretty busy street, not sure if there’s additional parking elsewhere that we missed.

Inside Fair State Brewing, looks like they are working on building out more space next door. I ordered a beer and the Italian Stallion detroit style pizza. They describe it as if lasagna was a pizza... and I would agree, the crispy cheese crust or edges is the best part. Seating was limited inside Fair State... but pizza was delicious.

Moved my daughter to NE Mpls today and needed a break for lunch. Farina Rossa was just a short walk from her new place. We LOVED the pizza and their GF crust was one of the BEST I’ve ever had!!! NOT the basic Udis other places serve, this was hand tossed, crispy, and delicious! We will definitely be back😋.

So far, I have only tried the “old school” which is a classic margarita pizza. I say “so far” becuase after trying this pie I definitely want to explore the rest of the menu. The basil was fresh, and red sauce was a great mix of savory and sweet, but the star was absolutely the mozzarella. I believe they make their own in house, and you can tell- maybe the best in the cities. As for the crust- it was perfect baked, and has a strong whole wheat almost sourdough flavor. It’s really unique for neopolitan-style pies and not something I’ve seen at other pizza places in town. Overall delicious and unique- can’t wait to try the rest of the menu (of course this pairs well with any of Fair State’s amazing brews!) One note- our pizza was a little delayed in coming out, but the runner came to our table and let us know it was because the first cook wasn’t to their standards and they fired a new one for us. That level of attention to detail, care for their quality, and communication with customers REALLY sets Farnina Rossa apart from most restaurants in town.

this is definitely a place where the reviews genuinely reflect the quality of food. i’m typically not a fan of thick crust but their detroit style pizza is phenomenal, and certainly changed my mind about thicker crust. love having a delicious pizza spot in the neighborhood!

Showed up around 2 on a Saturday when there were only 3-4 people at the brewery. First time dining there. Ordered a couple of pizzas. Waited an hour, had to ask the bartender how much longer (you have to order at the bar since there’s no wait staff. Told us they were short handed. 15 mins later, still no pizza.Had to ask for a refund. No idea how this “great” pizza tastes because we never saw any. Never again.

Yelp
Wandering around St. Paul, looking for love... I mean food. We decided on pizza. This pop-up was basically a set-up outside a brewery (decent beer there, too). Now I'm a pizza snob having lived in NYC so long. So I'ma be super-judgemental here. The crust was tasty, the toppings decent (though one was still a bit cold since it was put on after the pizza was cooked), the overall taste profile, very gourmet. Would it stand up to the standard of NYC pizza? I mean, no... but that's no shade. It just is what it is. This was still pretty good- so check them out if you're a pizza snob like me and you're in the area.
