Where to find classic restaurants and bars in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"Once a Las Vegas mainstay with seven locations and a rival to the Colonel’s original recipe, the Farm Basket fried chicken chain had been reduced to one single barn-like structure — until a second location opened in 2022 at Sahara Avenue and Nellis Boulevard. Arriving in 1977, Farm Basket is best known for its Great Gobbler sandwich, made with breaded turkey breast, Miracle Whip, and cranberry sauce. Tacos are dubbed Cluck e’ tos and farm fries come smothered in homemade gravy and topped with cheese. Operating under the radar, the local motto is “we don’t do a lot of flashy advertising or use silly gimmicks,” but a loyal following of clucker fans still secure the restaurant a loyal cult following, particularly among those who are shocked to rediscover it is still in business." - Janna Karel

Now serving daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m at its 6148 W Charleston Blvd. drive-thru, hungry fans can also order delivery via GrubHub and Postmates. On the menu, fried turkey breast or chicken sandwiches; clucketos, the restaurant’s chicken stuffed rolled tacos; family meals, chicken fingers; and a fried turkey breast smothered in mashed potatoes and gravy." - Bradley Martin

Well, I'm a little disappointed. It's been a while since I visited Farm Basket. I had high hopes. What happened??!! The chicken fingers were not that good. Maybe it had been sitting out too long... the batter was kinda chewy. It looked crispy but not. The fries were fresh and hot, but not like how they used to serve it with seasoning salt. The place still looks run down. The staff was friendly. I want this place to thrive, but they really need a makeover.

Google
Stopped at the farm basket today because it's one of those places that just has that "look" , like it's going to be good, and I was not disappointed! The fried chicken and fingers are phenomenal with the perfect crunchy exterior and a flavorful breading. The orange roll was definitely unique and tasty as were the mashed potatoes and gravy. I will definitely be back!!

Google
Ordered 2 gobblers and farm fries Forgot the cranberry sauce and there was a fork and paper in the fries. Def not the farm basket I grew up with.

This was my second time here. the first time I came here the customer service sucked and the food was not anything special. The owner responded and asked that I give them a second chance. Since I LOVE fried chicken I agreed. What an improvement. A little pricey, 16.00 for six pieces of chicken. But customer service was GREAT. And the chicken was tasty 👍👍

I don't live far from this location , but I rarely make it here. The other day I decided to give them a try again for something different. I got the 4 Chicken Fingers Meal with Fries and a Lemonade. I got the Gravy instead of a sauce for the chicken. I though the last time I was here they had Pink Lemonade , but I was told no they only had the regular which was fine and it was a big cup. It came to $12. The chicken fingers were large and meaty. I remember the last time I was here the guy at the counter told me they were made fresh , not frozen and you can tell. The breading is light , but has a good flavor. The Brown Gravy I was a little disappointed with. I was like homemade , but seemed to be missing something like it needed more pepper and it didn't seem that fresh. The Fries were okay and just the right amount of salt , but a small amount for those big 4 chicken fingers. Next time I will get the Fried Chicken. I would recommend you coming here if you have never been. They have been around forever !

This is definitely one of the Old School good spots and locals favorite places. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. They also have a drive thru and outside seating area. The customer service is amazing. They truly care about customers. The location is definitely one of the oldest, it has been there serving customers for 50 years. But the staff keeps it nice and clean. The food is great. The fried chicken is insanely crispy and crunchy, while also being plentiful juicy. Not greasy at all. Just delicious chicken tenders and they are big too. It is simple food done right and delicious. The service is excellent and they treat you like you are a family .

Google
Well, the decor is really vintage, but I think it can be upgraded to a better version. Coming to food, I got the clucker deluxe meal. The sandwich was decent, fries were good and crispy. The cranberry sauce was not that good for me, same as the weird miracle whip where it has garlic sweet flavor which was kind of bizarre. I liked the pram sauce though, which has garlic flavor. Overall, the food is decent but is a little overpriced compared to alternatives, and it's not worth the hype on social media. P.S: Having restrooms closed for washing hands was a bummer

Brenda Maggard

Google
The woman working the drive thru was amazing, very happy and upbeat. The food on the other hand, the sandwich wasn't wrapped in the bag, looked like it just had a little piece of foil barely wrapped around it. The sandwich had bad lettuce on it. After the first bite I had to throw it out because of the mushy nasty lettuce. I think I will stick to the chicken only specials and no sandwiches.

Yelp
This was my first time eating there the food was great the employees were all very friendly and the store was clean. I will be back soon.

Yelp
It's Tuesday 7/23/2024 at about 3:15 pm. Lots of free parking. The parking area was clean. They have some covered outdoor tables but it's way too hot at this time. The area was also clean. Inside was small with booth seating. Floors, tables and seating were all clean and in good repair. We were greeted by a cheerful young man. I had the two piece chicken meal with two sides for $8.99 and a fountain drink with free refills for $2.49. I didn't care for the gravy on the mash potatoes. My wife liked the potato salad. I also like the butter honey roll, but it had a bit too much butter on it. The star of the meal was the fried chicken. Like the rest of the meal, it was served up hot and fresh, juicy, tender and cooked perfectly. The seasoning was on point.

Yelp
I finally got to give this place a try. I'm so surprised of the negative reviews this place has because the chicken was amazing. The fried chicken came out piping hot and so crispy. The chicken was seasoned well and side of corn was so good. The staff members were nice and provided great service. I would definitely be coming back when I have the crave for some good fried chicken. Don't skip on this spot and give this place a try!

Yelp
Heard good things about this place but we left pretty disappointed. Came a few weeks ago and tried the chicken sandwich but the bread was stale and the chicken had no crisp to it and was really dry. Decided to come back to see if the turkey was any better but it wasn't. Drier than the chicken and the bread once again was stale. The miracle whip and cranberry sauce couldn't save them. I can say that the fries were very good on each visit. The restaurant is cute and feels old timey but I don't think we'll be back again.

Yelp
Overall Farm Basket was a pretty average experience on my visit. I understand this place has a cult following but I don't really get it. I stopped in a not too long ago (Feb 2024) and ordered the turkey clucker combo. The sandwich and fries were decent but nothing spectacular. The combo ran about $15 and came with a pack of mayo and cranberry dressing and some other fry sauce. I did enjoy the original decades old interior and decor (see pics). Service was quick and friendly. I'll maybe try to stop by and try something different to see what all the hype is about.

Yelp
They never miss. Usually some places have off days and the food taste different on different occasions. They are consistently FIRE. The service is always great and makes us feel welcomed. The place is always clean too. I wish I knew about here when I was younger. If you like fries, this is the place. Best Loaded Fries in Las Vegas. 1000%.

Yelp
I am sending this review to the new owner of Farm Basket. I prefer you chicken cluckers from the W. Charleston location as they are more like the original product, a real chicken breast not preformed. I have always loved the original recipe and seem to only find it at the Charleston location. If you keep up with this product model you will be golden! I will keep coming back to this location moving forward!
google avatar

Vivian R.

Yelp
Really bad . the chicken fingers are very salty and mushy . you can tell they are frozen , also ordered the cluckitos . those were very gross as well also seemed like they were frozen than, fried. Also ordered a sprite very gross tasted stale . All I know is I won't be coming back and I hope this review saves you time and money .

Yelp
Been coming here for years and always ordering the same thing. Never had a problem. Always substitute the sauce for gravy with the tender combo. Been doing this at the location on Nellis with no problem either. Today was told no by a young kid. Said they don't do that. Told him I come here every week with no problem before you. He said other people must be nice. Not nice kid. It's called customer service and there's no issue with it. Wasn't even told I could buy if needed. It's people like you who cause small businesses to lose customers. Won't be recommending this place anymore.

Yelp
If you're craving chicken, it's chicken, but with the sides with the chicken, it's good chicken they have good deals for families and also for people who are just wanting to have an experience. I've only tried them once I will go back again, but they are a must try for the original chicken spot in Las Vegas.

Yelp
Since 1973 Farm Basket has been a local favorite in Sin City, the outpost on West Charleston still going strong from 10am until 9pm daily even as other locations have come and gone across the years. Owned by Billy Bayne and family since 2018, historic signage maintained alongside longtime catchphrase "Carried Away with Quality," guests old and new will discover a concise menu centered on Chicken and Turkey served in various ways plus sides and drinks. Undoubtedly an icon, nearly 50 years of business a rarity in Las Vegas, service is friendly and fast while portions prove generous across Coleslaw, velvety Mashed Potatoes and the "Gobbler" featuring Fried Turkey Breast on a Toasted Hoagie with sides of Cranberry Sauce and Miracle Whip. Sticking to classics in the age of Social Media, @FarmBasketChicken occasionally adding contests or specials, Fried Chicken proves juicy whether as Strips or on the Bone beneath crunchy Batter while "Clucketos" see pulled Poultry wrapped in Corn Tortillas beneath shredded Lettuce and Cheese. Known for housemade Rolls with Citrus Butter, enjoyable with a better rise than prior, the "Clucker" capitalizes on its cousin's success with Chicken Breast that proves a bit dry by comparison.

Yelp
I've been eating at farm basket for since I was a kid, over 30 years at this point.. and I can 100% say that my most recent visit will probably be the last time. They must have changed ownership because the menu is not the same, and the food has suffered. They changed the breading on the chicken and it was crispy on the outside, but turned into gummy glue in the middle, the chicken was also super dried out and flavorless. The cashier was unfriendly and seemed genuinely annoyed that I was there..his hands were also filthy and his fingernails were long and caked with black filth underneath them, there is no way he is washing his hands properly if at all. The only thing that's still good is the fries, everything else has been taken off the menu or changed beyond recognition.

Yelp
Food is always decent and always have polite service, but sketchy when there is homeless hanging out 3 feet from your car when you are ordering and sleeping on the tables in front.

Angela J.

Yelp
Great food. Great service. Best ambiance without a doubt. Very clean on the inside and out. Best place for a fried chicken or turkey sandwich. Located at blue diamond and rainbow! -Raven

Rob M.

Yelp
I've had better turkey dinners at the homeless, shelter, this place is fast food, junk waste of time and money. This is what's killing the people in America. nothing fresh all out of the bag.
google avatar

Corran C.

Yelp
Very small location with no restroom for guests. The food itself was not worth the price, chicken sandwich was bland and dryer than the Sahara desert. The iced tea was very bad I threw it away almost immediately after ordering. Staff were friendly and helpful which bumps it up a star but at the end of the day there are so many better options for chicken in LV.

Camilla B.

Yelp
A simple order, it consisted of one turkey sandwich and an order of taquitos. The sandwich was plain. The taquitos were so darn salty and that meat inside. What is that?? The staff was friendly, but the food was terrible.
google avatar

Yelp
What happened? This place has been a special memory for most of my childhood. I saw that they not only now had two locations, but a 3rd on the way. Yet, the food is not good at all! I bought a Clucker sandwich and a 3-piece order of chicken strips. The food was not flavorful at all. The chicken seemed old, and the breading easily fell off. What was left was gray chicken. The chicken in the sandwich was even worse. The fries were not good and it only cost me $20.00! I tried one last time! No more.
google avatar

Wendy N.

Yelp
First time customer to the Charleston location. Fast friendly service and quality food. Ordered my food to go but they do have a small seating area.
google avatar

Danielle W.

Yelp
I've been going to Farm Basket since the late 90s and have always had a great meal. I was so disappointed today when the finger combo I got today tasted nothing like my meals from the past. The breading was dark brown and tasted like the oil was very overdo for a change! The fries were subpar than normal as well. Seasoning was all over the place. Some were smothered while others had hardly anything. The only thing I finished was the soda! (Also ordered and paid for extra dip but didn't end up in the box). Every time I've visited before...has always been so consistent, so I hope this was a one time thing. (Last time I came was early summer '23).

Yelp
When we first walked in, the place smelled a little funny, old, musty, a little offensive. Service was fast, friendly and with a smile. We ordered the three-piece fried chicken dinner and added one piece, so we got all four pieces: breast, thigh, leg & wing. All were thoroughly and properly cooked, and tasted delicious. The coleslaw was good, very fresh and crunchy. The mashed potatoes and gravy were very good, they had some little lumps in them, giving them great homemade taste. We ate outdoors on the patio. Drive-thru is available. Sodas were served from a fountain, not from cans, which was very nice. We will definitely be back to try the turkey sandwiches and clucketos, their rolled chicken tacos!
google avatar

Don K.

Yelp
So good chicken and a nice fried turkey for dinner. The side slaw is average but they do drizzle honey on the rolls. Nice portions. Place is a clean but old diner. Counter Service is flaky. Suggestion to Owner: if you're too cheap to not provide reusable tableware, at least don't buy the cheapest forks and knives- terrible.
google avatar

Wowezow E.

Yelp
The fried chicken was tiny but the seasoning was great and crispy. I enjoyed the mashed potatoes and gravy. The Mac salad was good too. It was better with than I thought. I just wish the chicken pieces were bigger. The leg I got was so tiny it was like wing!
google avatar

Edge D.

Yelp
I was a bit underwhelmed by their chicken. Since I see this in instagram, I was excited to try it. The place is very small and a bit rundown. Their fried chicken is good but not the best I've tasted. If you like home style cooked fried chicken at a reasonable price, then you will like it this place.
google avatar

Shannon L.

Yelp
I truly cannot believe they sent this food out the door. My chicken sandwich had no breading on it. It was clearly sitting there all day since it was hard as a rock. They forgot the mayo and the lettuce. I ordered the supersize meal however the fries i received had about 10 fries in it. Everything was ice cold and clearly sitting there all day. Nothing was edible. This place has gone WAY downhill
google avatar

Joey K.

Yelp
So we finally came to this place after all the social media suggestions, we were very disappointed, chicken was very salty and oily, service was whatever , I would not recommend this place for fried chicken lovers
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
This place has been in business for nearly 50 years! Though I believe they may be down to this last location, it is an institution for fried turkey and chicken tenders! You wonder what happened that they have dwindled to what they are today, but that aside, the quality of the product is still with the try! Some of the largest, and best, chicken tenders you'll ever sample! These are not the frozen, similarly shaped, chicken tenders from a frozen bag. Nor is the turkey that you can get on a bed of mashed potatoes and gravy! Perfectly done, worth the stop, and here's to another 50 years!
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
Still love coming here, tried the fried chicken this last time and loved it! Hit the spot. Fries are always delicious. But what has been missing is the gravy lately. The last two times we have come the gravy is like water with absolutely no seasoning. Super disappointed. Hoping it was just a couple of bad batches because I used to be able to drink that stuff! Definitely needs some quality control because it is what keeps us coming back and it was a few weeks apart. I do have to say the service inside is always so friendly !

Ruben P.

Yelp
loved the customer service first time chicken and sides were fresh the manager Liz, lorenzo and another employee forgot his name gre customer service 10 out of 10
google avatar

Ken H.

Yelp
Place used to be great. I grew up eating here. New owners have ruined it. Chicken fingers aren't the same, fries suck, even the sauces are different. I asked why they changed the chicken fingers and they told me because the original ones were frozen..... you know what else they were? Delicious!!! We won't be back. RIP farm basket.
google avatar

Pono K.

Yelp
Sorry guys, thee worst chicken franchise I have ever eaten at. 3pc chicken meal, over/under cooked and soggy spots, no take out containers only foil basket, coleslaw was dry, mashed potato with gravy was bland. I would not recommend this place ever!!
google avatar

Yelp
I have passed Farm Basket 100's of times and always said one day I will stop there and never did well today my husband and I did and I'm so glad we did. It was great. After a long day at the clinic I was hungry and this was close by. Right off of Charleston, you can't miss there big sign . There parking lot is not that large but has ample parking. We parked and I could smell the chicken right when we left the car. The restaurant is small with only about six booths but there is some seating outside. Not a large menu but just enough for what your there for. We ordered the 8 piece chicken special and ordered corn, potatoes salad and rolls. Yummy yummy. It was really good. There chicken is not greasy and cooked perfectly. Priced a bit higher but worth the trip. We will definitely be back
google avatar

Teresa W.

Yelp
So I have been wanting to try this place for awhile now. Decided to door dash it one day for lunch at work. Got the gobbler combo. I really liked it! The sandwich was a tad dry, but had a great flavor and loved the miracle whip and cranberry and the toasted bun. The fries were ok, but way over salted which is why I took off a star. A lot of reviews mention this so you'd think they would fix it. That said, I'd still order from them again. Maybe try a different side next time.
google avatar

Patricia E.

Yelp
The chicken was so good it's a pleasure having different flavors of chicken with so used to eating California style chicken it's boring now, but this chicken had a hint of poultry seasoning I think. box seasoning, and if it was fried in a black skillet at your house, I recommend this chicken. I had an eight piece chicken, only Coleslaw was good, and the biscuit on the side was great, too

John S.

Yelp
Went to the new Rainbow location for lunch. I was told they ran out of bone-in chicken and can't fill a family basket. Much to my Disappointment. I was told that someone had ordered 72 pieces early and they have no more chicken. I was not offered to try their chicken tenders. Back to Albertson's Chicken basket
google avatar

Holli J.

Yelp
First time eating here and I can't get over how delicious it was! The breading on the turkey brought back memories of my childhood of another fast food chain I would go to and the fries had the perfect seasoning. You could tell that everything was freshly made also. Will be coming here again.
google avatar

Loretta M.

Yelp
This was the nastiest chicken I have ever had! Saturated in grease like they didn't even let it drip off the grease out of the fryer. The French fry's also dripping in grease. My husband ended up with a raw in middle thigh and his mashed potatoes had no gravy. After we ate a few bites of what wasn't raw I dumped it all in the trash. Shame on you Farm Basket !

Steve M.

Yelp
I had not been to this location in years and was really looking forward to it. You would think that it would be quick at 11 in the morning, but I was wrong. There was one car in front of me. It took about 20 minutes to get my order and it must have sat the whole time because the food was tepid and not tasty when I got it and the ice in the drink had melted. I threw it away.

Jeremy P.

Yelp
I love this place , a true childhood favorite . Fresh hot chicken and turkey. Clucketos fire

Yelp
When I drive by a place late at night that has fried chicken on the sign, there's a pretty good chance that I'll be turning in and eating some of that said fried chicken. After a trip to the outlets last week my girlfriend and I were looking for somewhere new to try and that's when we drove passed Farm Basket. This cool old school little place features various types of chicken and turkey dishes along with a bunch of different side dishes and treats as well. I ended up ordering the Fried Chicken dinner with french fries, mashes potatoes with gravy, and a roll covered in something good (I have no clue what it was though). How was the food you ask? Well, here's what I thought! Fried Chicken- The fried chicken was pretty darn tasty! Although the breading wasn't super flavourful, it tasted solid and the meat underneath it was pretty juicy. Mashed Potatoes with Gravy- The best I could possibly say to describe this is that it tasted exactly like how I thought it would, and that's not a bad thing. Although these mashed potatoes and gravy aren't anything new, they make a pretty solid side dish. French Fries- The fries had a McDonald's like taste to them and although they had way too much salt on them, I did enjoy them. Roll- I wish I knew what was on this roll because it tasted pretty good, either way, a solid side! Overall, Farm Basket did me well and I really enjoyed the experience. The restaurant itself looked the part, the staff was friendly, and the food was pretty darn good as well. If you are looking for some Fried Chicken on the west side, this is definitely a place worth trying!

Yelp
Picnic N Chicken was one of my favorite spots to get fried chicken when I was a kid.  The batter was a little crunchier than KFC and bursting with more deliciousness.  The 70's were the glory days of fast food fried chicken chains with Picnic N Chicken, Pioneer Chicken, and Kentucky Fried Chicken.  The last one I visited was located in Mira Mesa behind the high school.  I believe it closed in the late 80's.  I was excited to learn there is one left.  My friend Christie told me Farm Basket was owned by one of the Picnic N Chicken owners.  I made plans to visit next time I visited Las Vegas.   I met Christie in the parking lot and admired the old barn like building.  It looked just like the Picnic N Chicken I ate in San Diego.   I ordered an 8 piece meal for $7.99 and an order of fries.  Fries were crunchy and had a nice potato flavor.  Fried chicken batter was crunchy while the meat was tender and juicy.  Very good tasting chicken.  It wasn't the same as I remember though.  Batter seemed to be missing some herbs and spices which gave Picnic N Chicken that delicious flavor similar to KFC chicken. Farm Basket has very good tasting food and the girl at the counter was very nice.  I still miss the delicious chicken Picnic N Chicken made.

Yelp
Tried a spot right next door and figured I'd give this a try. I went for the two piece snack chicken. The person taking the order did not have any kind of customer service. There were two cars in front and I'd say I waited about 20 minutes. By the time I got to the front my order was actually the quickest to come out. I pulled over to give it a try but unfortunately the chicken was cold and the roll was super dry and hard. So that's that.
google avatar

Yelp
To the young kid at the window that's miserable with their job. A little bit customer service goes a long way I didn't order the wrong drink. You made the wrong drink to the dirty look that you gave me was unappreciated.

Melissa L.

Yelp
yummy good food and friendly people! They were fast and short line. will be coming back here.
google avatar

Dorian O.

Yelp
After driving 45 minutes to the restaurant on a Sunday only to find out they are closed. Did they update their website, google, or Yelp to reflect this? No...

Kathryn D.

Yelp
First time visiting. The chicken was overcooked to the point of being mushy tasted like it sat in grease before it was wrapped into foil. The fries were fresh however, they were over salted, and the gravy for the mashed potatoes was very watery. Customer Service was OK however, they did forget my roll with my meal. Worst $15 I've ever spent will not be returning.

Yelp
I have been going to farm basket since I was a little girl. They have the most awesome clukettos. They are so good and always cooked perfect. Their chicken and sweet rolls are to die for. I have recently got the turkey sandwich and its just as good as well! I have shared this hidden gem with my boyfriend and he is now addicted too!

Joe S.

Yelp
I have been going to Farm Basket for 30 years now. I was in the other night and the food quality has gone downhill. The fries were either recooked or the oil was very old and didn't have the signature seasoning salt they usually have. The gobbler was not hot as usual. Please fix these issues or you will lose me as a customer.
