TikTok’s Chopped Sandwich Trend Has Gone Too Far | Eater

"A Brooklyn corner store long known for its chopped sandwiches has served as a real-world precedent for the viral 'very-chopped' trend, offering versions that extend beyond the city's typical chopped-cheese tradition by chopping and mixing fillings into tightly integrated sandwiches. While these preparations show how the technique can be part of an authentic corner-store repertoire, observers argue that the extreme chopping celebrated on social platforms often prioritizes performative texture over sandwich integrity, producing a uniform, near-paste mouthfeel that some find off-putting." - Bettina Makalintal

Picked up a turkey chopped hero with Ranch Doritos for about $13.50 — absolutely worth it. The sandwich was huge, even with just one layer of honey turkey and a small bag of chips. Fast service, great portion size, and everything tasted fresh. Honestly, if you’re not a big eater, I’d recommend getting it on a roll instead — it’s a lot of food for a hero. Definitely a solid spot I’d recommend!

The first time I went here, I got one of their famous chopped sandwiches. It had red pastrami, swiss cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar and jalapenos all chopped up and served in a roll. The sandwich was massive, but none of the ingredients stood out. The taste was all blended into a mellow nothingness. I couldn't distinguish the swiss cheese, pastrami, jalapenos, or anything really. So just out of curiousity, I went back another day and got the exact same sandwich, but this time not chopped. It was great and tasted amazing! I guess you have to know what you're doing when you choose what to get chopped up. In my mind, the only thing meant to be chopped up like that with whatever ingredients you want is maybe a tuna sandwich, so I'll try that next time I order a chopped sandwich.

Google
I’ve visited this store twice now, and orders online twice. And unfortunately, I haven’t been impressed. The sandwiches are drenched in mayo (or whatever condiment you choose), which completely overwhelms the flavor. They also have limited meat options I tried to order a ham sandwich online, but the only option was turkey ham, and it was honestly pretty unpleasant. I really wanted to like this place because I love sandwiches, but it just doesn’t live up to the hype.

Google
The Sandwich Was Delicious 😋 I ordered it chopped on my honest opinion next time I'll get it Regular. Is good for the Hype or Insta but the choice is yours. Plenty of beverages all kinds Etc is a Deli. Everything is to go no tables. Quick Tip Walk 3 Minutes To The Nearest Park To Enjoy It

Google
I love them I love the food If I could go everyday I would 😍. The food is so good!! I usually get the chopped tuna! Mayo, Spicy mustard, Jalapeño, Relish, Lettuce, Tomato, Cheese, oil/pepper/vinegar, Onion, egg and tuna chopped 😋. Sometimes I let them make multiple orders and put some in a bowl for later. I love this store. The people that work there are amazing always a good attitude especially with children. They are even nice to the less fortunate people that I’ve seen walk in the store from time to time never rude to anyone. Go try a sandwich!

Google
One of the top 10 (perhaps top 5) sandwich spots in all of NYC. Their innovative chopped sandwich is incredibly delicious. Always fresh ingredients and very creative combinations. The fact that there can several people standing in line for sandwiches at 1am is indicative of just how unique and enjoyable the food is here. I highly recommend this establishment!

Google
TikTok got this one right. It’s one of the coolest experiences to watch as they chop the sandwich. The bodega in general has a lot of reasonably priced drink choices. Staff were super helpful with my first time. They have so many options of vege, meats, cheese and sauces. And, THE SANDWICH WAS FREAKING TASTY❤️❤️❤️

quite a busy place but great chopped sandwich

Yelp
Chopped sandwich was delicious! If you come during the day expect to wait on a line potentially wrapping around the store. It doesn't move as quickly as I had hoped. While the wait may have been a big of a downer, the sandwich wasn't! I went with the honey turkey with lettuce, tomato, pickles, swiss cheese, pepper, and an old school Dipsy Doodles as my crunch factor and it didn't disappoint. This sandwich is also very shareable for two. The price also didn't disappoint either. I cant remember the last time I got a really kicking sandwich for less than 13 bucks.

Yelp
I love the fact that Famer in the Deli is open 24 hours! This place has a pretty extensive menu, offering breakfast options, different types of sandwiches (turkey, chicken, and beef), as well as chopped sandwiches. We came here super early in the morning, and the fact that this place was packed tells you something! We ordered a Honey Maple Turkey chopped sandwich on a hero, with pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, salt, oil, and vinegar; the amount that this was inside the bread was ridiculous! The bread itself was fresh and soft, and the filling could equate to another 4 sandwiches; you could also use it as a spread for crackers! Don't forget to add a Hans Jurgen pickle - they have 2 kinds, but get the larger of the two - these are pickled perfectly, super fresh, and also big enough to share between 2-4 people! There are about 4 staff members behind the counter who take your order(s) and keep the line moving - they are all super friendly and kind! The place also has a good selection of drinks and chips to add to your meal. A great spot to fulfill a good sandwich craving! +Hans Jurgen pickles +chopped sandwiches +friendly service

Yelp
A solid late night eats. Staying in Brooklyn for a trip, and looking for something that's open at 12 am, and I happy stumbled across this sandwich shop. I've never had a "chopped sandwich" before but it's going to be the first of many. I ordered the honey maple turkey with a bunch of add ons, along with salt and vinegar chips chopped in, and for the size of the sandwich and the value, this definitely hit the spot.

Yelp
I made a 45 minute walk all the way to try this spot that has gone viral for their chopped turkey sandwiches. When I arrived on a Saturday at 3pm, there was a line that wrapped around the store. While waiting in line, you can grab a bag of chips and drink. The tip is to get a bag of chips to add into your sandwich for some extra flavor and crunch. For my sando, I got the Chopped Honey Maple Turkey on Hero ($11.99) with Pepper Jack Cheese (+$1). Also got all the fix-ins: lettuce, tomato, mayo, salt, pepper, vinegar, and oil. I added half my bag of Utz Crab flavored chips ($2) as well. When I went to pay for it, they even staple my opened bag of chips to "seal" it back for me. It's definitely cool to see them make your sandwich in front of you. Because everything is made to order, the line moves slow thus the long wait times. I ended up waiting 50 minutes. Also, grabbed a bottle of Arizona Green Tea ($1.25) to enjoy my meal over at Fort Green Park. You know how they say you gotta get a bite of everything? This is what makes a chopped cheese so good-- because all the ingredients are well infused together. It might also look like a lot of mayo, but it gives it such a creamy and moist consistency like a chicken/tuna salad. The sandwich is also super filling as I only ate half and then finished the rest for dinner when I got home. Honestly, this sandwich is worth the hype and it's so delicious. The thing is that the wait is so long and it makes me wonder if I could get some similar at another bodega without the wait.

Yelp
Super delicious chopped sandwiches here! Don't forget to add a bag of chips to chop into it :) I like this location a lot and have tried the chopped sandwich at this location and in midtown. This is definitely a much larger and older deli, which has some chaotic charm. The line moves quickly and the staff are super quick and skilled. I highly recommend getting the toasted hero sandwich and adding some chips. I enjoyed my turkey with cool ranch Doritos, and added some chopped banana peppers and jalapeños as well. It is a bit pricey for sandwiches, and one hero with some additions came out to ~$15. Be warned it is a very heavy sandwich, as the base relies pretty heavily on mayo! I felt full just eating half of the sandwich. Would come again if i'm craving a chopped sandwich!

Yelp
This place had been in my bucket list forever and we finally made it to NY. The sandwich was worth the trip from Manhattan. It was so good. They have loads of specialty chips on the other side of the store to pair with your sandwich. I got the chopped mesquite turkey and honey mustard. They hand chop the smithereens out of it. The guys making the sandwiches were nice. There is no place to eat inside b/c it's like a corner store. Parking is a bit of a challenge if you drive there and if you go at night there can be some weirdos outside. I'd go again in a "NY minute" next time I'm there!

Rachel ..

Yelp
They make the best sandwiches in Brooklyn...now that everyone knows about this place the lines have become extremely looooog...

Yelp
I have nothing but good things to say about Farmer In the Deli. I used to live close by and go pretty frequently, but despite living further, we still make sure to come by when we can. Walk in and head straight to the back to get in line. Grab some chips while you wait! Chopped, chopped, chopped, they do it best! Be warned, there will likely be a line, even at 2am, but it moves fast. I really love getting tuna, chicken and turkey pastrami but really, you can't go wrong with any of their cuts. Same goes for the cheeses. My favorite thing about this place is they do NOT skimp on portions. You'll need a fork to catch everything as you eat. One thing I really like about these guys is they have an option without any bread, where you get all the goods but in a plastic bowl. If you're cutting down on carbs, it's a great option. Worth the stop, worth the wait, and worth the carbs :)

Yelp
THIS PLACE STOLE MY EBT FOODSTAMPS! I will be filing a police report! I know it was this place because i NEVER been there before! My foodstamps arrived on a certain dag . Which was the day i went there! And it dissappeared the next days in which i NEVER went anywhere else but target. If you are a victim of stolen foodstamp card DO NOT GO HERE AND REPORT REPORT REPORT.

Yelp
I'm already trying to plan my next visit to the store! My friend and I were in Brooklyn for the day and I found this location on tiktok because it went viral. We needed to try it before we went back home to Jersey and I'm so happy we did. Yes it is a corner store with your convenient needs but the chopped sandwiches are the star of the show I'm not sure why the chopped Ingredients make the sandwich 10 times better but it was worth the visit. I can't remember the exact price but it varied between $11-$14 and well worth it. You can have it on a hero (long sub bread) or a roll. You can also opt to add chips in your chopped sandwich just hand them the bag. I got the honey maple turkey provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, banana peppers, extra mayo, oil, vinegar, and pepper and a oregano on a hero. Staff was very nice but as you wait in line, make sure to look at the menu so you can know what you want to order to keep up the pace since it does get busy. Overall 10/10!

Lisa T.

Yelp
The 12$$ sandwich tunafish pretty good, but maybe think put a lot of ingredients in jalapeños onions, hot peppers. Pickles. Lettuce, tomatoes, olive oil vinegar extra. Black pepper. Plus the Doritos extra hot and water.=17$ the service was long.wait It was around 1030pm They only had two people making the sandwiches and everybody wanted to go to the one particular guy the original OG been there for 30 years. I should've waited for him too. The bad part must've a bill for those kind of sandwiches anymore.

Yelp
Great spot for chopped deli sandwiches. Line took about 30minutes to get through. I got honey turkey on hero with cheddar cheese, beef bacon, onions, lettuce, salt pepper oil vinegar. It was excellent and worth the wait!
google avatar

Yelp
This place is iconic. I used to live nearby and never got a chance to try but I've always wanted to try. There's always a line but it moves fast. I love that they make the sandwich in front of you and all ingredients are fresh and to your preference. The big catch 22 is that they don't have any pork/ham/bacon/salami which is terrible for a sandwich shop. My son and I loved our sandwich which was honey turkey, pepper jack, jalopenos, onions lettuce tomatoe mayo oil and vinegar. Sandwich was HUGE and reasonably priced!!

Yelp
Came at 11:20 AM on a Sunday and there was a long line; we had our food in hand about 30 mins later. Chopped honey turkey sandwich on hero was absolutely incredible - just get that, don't even think. Chopped tuna on roll was good, but more bland. Stick to the turkey. The guys making the sandwiches were super nice, and their skills are so fun to watch. 5 stars for the chopped turkey alone.

Yelp
We came around 4:45 am after a rave and were ready to eattt!! The people there were very friendly and it seemed so fun to finally get to try the famous chopped sandwiches! There was a line about like 3-4 people in front of us which was enough time for us to look at the extensive menu! When it was our turn, we wanted the Cajun roast beef and another turkey one but they didn't have it. (Might've been because it was early morning on a weekday) We decided to throw in spicy Doritos to it because we seen they do that here! Luckily the person in front of us were getting samples of the smoked turkey and it was amazing! fresh thin and flavorful! And it wasn't dry!!! (Very important because turkey usually so dry) We got the hero and in the sandwiches, we added lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mayo, vinegar, and salt and pepper! My partner added pickles! We read a review that the full chop was too fine for her tasting so we decided to try half chop for our first time and it was just right! We then toasted at home because we like our bread crispy and it was sooo delicious! Truly amazed me and I would definitely go again. The half chop was just the right texture and with mayo on the bread it wasn't dry. My partner and I both think the smoked turkey was better because the flavor from the smoked turkey really enhancement sandwich. Their smoked meats really are smoked in the best way and fresh! This place is a must try place and I will be going back again to try something new :)

Yelp
First review of 2024! Like almost everyone I'm starting the New Year on a fitness/weight loss journey-- with that being said, on my final day of poor eating, I wanted to get a sandwich from here. This place is relatively famous and usually has a very long line. I figured the line wouldn't be too long, but it was-- also, the line moves rather slowly because people usually get multiple sandwiches. Onto the sandwhich, the ingredients are chopped and diced, which actually enhances the sandwhich. I went with turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato and honey mustard on a hero. For a decent price of $13. I would say that both the sandwhich and the experience is well worth it.

Yelp
You must visit this spot when in Brooklyn! My friend suggested this spot for lunch after exploring Brooklyn and I'm so glad she did. We visited on the perfect day too since it was memorial day and everyone was at the beach or on vacation. There is always long line here and this day, it was cut in half. We got to order fairly quick. I ordered a tuna fish sandwich with banana peppers, pickles, mayo, salt, pepper and vinegar chopped into a roll of choice. You have to get it chopped up it's sooooo good. You can even add a bag of chips. It was a solid meal on a hot day and I will most definitely be back.

Yelp
Wow! It was my first time trying a chopped sandwich & it was divine! We randomly came here as it was near a yelp event we went to. We ordered a chopped sandwich on a hero: honey turkey, american cheese, salt&pepper, oil&vinegar, pickles, honey mustard, lettuce. The staff chopped all the items into a big paste & placed it on the hero. Wow! So much flavors - I felt like I was eating a special chicken salad concoction (the vinegar definitely helped with the taste). The hero was so soft & fresh. This place was so popular that there was 8 people in front of us, but it was worth the wait! This bodega sold a lot of products (beverages, chips, etc) that I haven't seen in other bodegas near me. It was pretty neat!

Yelp
Omg !! This is so freaking delicious. The service was nice at 3am and the food is delicious. The place is also clean with fresh veggies. Will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
I'm in the area about once a month and never stopped in. Usually because when I make the trip to BK I have a few things on the agenda so I stick to my schedule. Well a few Saturdays ago I had some extra time after an appt and decided to see what the hype was about that was recently circling on social about Farmer in the Deli. It should be noted that most of the hype was from tourists. As a native NYer (born & raised) deli sandwich from the corner stores (bodega or Ock) are not anything new to us. They are staples for both field and road trips. However, here they chop up all of your ingredients and mold it to fit your bread nicely. There was a line and will probably always be a line but it moved fairly quick and the gentleman that assisted me was very pleasant and fast. I did my typical honey turkey and swiss with brown mustard, lettuce and tomatoes. I added black pepper, pickles, banana peppers and oil & vinegar. It was chopped and assembled on a roll. I grabbed a beverage and some chips. Was the sandwhich was good?... Yes! It's my typical go-to ingredients for a sando at the bodega, so I didn't expect anything different in that regard. Was gentleman nice?... Yes Was the price decent?... Typical Was it spectacular?... No It is chopped deli ingredients that may look like mush to some. Yes, you get a taste of everything in one bite but in all honesty having everything chopped makes it extremely messy. If in the area with some extra time and I have a taste for a sandwich I will probably return. Will I have the chop it? Undecided. Just A Note: There is pretty much always a line. It moves quick so if you want to give them a try, just be patient.

Yelp
I've been coming here since I was a kid-- so I don't understand all the newfound hype around it. Decent chopped sandwiches but definitely overpriced for a deli sandwich. Always a long wait. But who am I kidding, I'll be back as always lol
google avatar

Ann S.

Yelp
I tried my first chopped sandwich here & it was amazing! I highly recommend their honey turkey chopped sandwich on a hero (w/ american cheese, salt&pepper, oil&vinegar, pickles, honey mustard, lettuce). The bread was so soft and the chopped concoction was so delicious! YUM!
google avatar

Tanichea B.

Yelp
The place looks like your typical deli. Of course I had to try the famous chopped sandwich. I got the honey turkey on a hero with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, banana peppers, salt , pepper, oil and vinegar. Chopped together, the flavor is consistent across every bite, something you don't typically get with a regular hero. The deli clerk was fast and efficient with the orders so while there was a line, it went fairly quickly. Recommend eating it with a bag of chips.
google avatar

Yelp
Came by on Sunday afternoon to try out the famous chopped sandwich and it was pretty good. Farmer in the Deli is an unassuming but efficient bodega that's known for their (chopped) sandwiches. When I stopped by, there was a decent size but fast moving line with three employees making sandwiches. Ordering is quick and customizable however you'd like. I knew I wanted to try the chopped sandwich and got it with honey maple turkey, lettuce/tomato/mayo, onions, pickles, hot peppers, olive oil/vinegar and it came out to $12.99. I enjoyed the sandwich and the novelty of "chopping" the contents, but it kinda reminded me of just an above average chicken salad (or turkey salad?) sandwich. All in all, was great to try the beloved chopped sandwich.
google avatar

Chantele B.

Yelp
This makes me think of all the happy thoughts from my child hood. This place is just a deli, but for me and my people it is THE deli. The bread is fresh and the sandwich hits every time. I would say if you are anywhere near the Brooklyn Bridge , Manhattan bridge are, if you are any place in Brooklyn, go pass here and wait in line, you won't be disappointed !
google avatar

Miriam W.

Yelp
Our sandwiches were good and very reasonably priced. Although there was a line around the store, the workers were really quick and we were out in less than 10 minutes.
google avatar

James I.

Yelp
Had to see what all the social media hype was about. I had the chopped chicken & my wife had the chopped turkey sandwiches. OMG. So good. Worth the ONE HOUR I had to wait in line to order. The deli clerk was kind and polite while taking my order. $30 for two heroes, two Snapples & two bags of chips. Ambience is what you'd expect from an old school deli. Two thumbs UP!
google avatar

Anni H.

Yelp
Been meaning to try this place and def worth the wait despite the long line (~15-20mins wait) when arriving. From the outside, it looks like any regular deli. They have a wide range of chips, drinks, cookies, candies and cereal. Keep in mind that this deli does not serve ham or any pork cold cuts iten. Only chicken, turkey and tuna. This spot is also open 24hrs so it's great for late night bites. I ordered 2 chopped sandwiches; a honey turkey, small tuna, pepper jack cheese, banana peppers, lettuce and tomatoes on a roll with honey mustard, and mayo (pictured). The 2nd; bbq chicken, American cheese, lettuce and tomatoes on a hero with mayo (forgot to take a pic). I wanted the roll sandwich in a wrap but they were out of wraps that night. The sandwich is different from your usual deli sandwich, having it chopped was so good! Next time I'm gonna try to get the chopped sandwich in a wrap or maybe I'll bring my own wrap to have them make it on that wrap. Service is great, they're patient and are serious with making sandwiches to ensure they don't make a mistake in your order. I highly recommend trying a chopped sandwich from this spot at least once they you'll understand what they have a long line at this deli. Def coming back again next time!
google avatar

Jocelyn L.

Yelp
Came here after reading so many great reviews but I didn't think the 30 minute wait was worth the hype. The portion size is definitely large for the price and the ingredients were fresh, I really appreciated the soft bread however it tasted like an average sandwich for me. I arrived too late so the grill had been turned off and I had to eat the sandwich cold which I'm usually not fond of. I got a chopped honey Turkey, provolone & lettuce sandwich with pepper, oil & vinegar for about $11. Probably wouldn't come back here
google avatar

Brandon T.

Yelp
This is not a harsh three star review, but this place is just OK. Wild seeing a ton of hype around this spot considering it's basically similar to nearly any bodega on the block, outside of dicing up all the meat and veg before stuffing it all into the bread. When I first moved to the area, before the hype, I grabbed a lot of BEC sandwiches bc it was cheap and quick. Then noticed the lines for lunch and grabbed a sandwich. I'm more of an Italian meat kind of person, so this place doesn't cater towards what I like. It's more honey ham, honey turkey, or tuna options. Again totally fine, but I wouldn't wait an hour for a sandwich. I honestly thought it was popular because the portion sizes were massive. Way over hyped IMO.
google avatar

Willie G.

Yelp
Came back for a turkey chop sandwich. Also took pics of the other treasures here, Junk food, lots and lots of good quality junk food :)
google avatar

Saasha G.

Yelp
Best hero ever! If your from Brooklyn, you definitely know what a good hero tastes like. They are putting a twist on the classic hero and chopping all the inside of the sandwich. I just like say the better option to get is a hero since it holds the chopped parts better but my roll was besssss. They aren't cheap and stingy with the fixings and all and the chopped sandwiches helped all those fixings marry better from the jump. You're getting an even taste evry bite. The line wasn't long when I went at night and they move pretty quick.
google avatar

Captain Z.

Yelp
The Farmer in the Deli is actually a convenience store that's well known for its chopped sandwiches. It is so well known that the line sometimes stretches from the deli counter all the way around the store and even outside, so plan for a wait when you go. Trust me, it is well worth the wait! You can order any combination of ingredients they sell for your sandwich with one very important difference from most delis - you can pick anything from the store isles, give it to them, and they will put it into your sandwich. So if you like a certain flavor chips, or anything else, for that matter, they will incorporate it into your sandwich. The meat and cheese are all freshly cut and assembled into a pile along with your desired items. When everything has been added they start chopping, and chopping until all the ingredients are blended together perfectly. The freshly chopped pile is then put on your choice of fresh bread. The wait goes by quickly and the sandwiches are well worth the wait because they are unique and tasty. It is for that reason and because the staff was very friendly I am giving them 5-stars.
google avatar

Sherry J.

Yelp
Service was great. The line was in the back of the store when we arrived. We probably waited for about 30+ minutes before we got served. There was a local in line who helped us understand the ordering and gave recommendations which I appreciated. To my surprise the sandwich freshly made was not that good to me bc of the amount of Mayo to "chop ness" ratio. The sandwich was just chopped too finely for my liking. After letting the sandwich sit for some hours it tasted a lot better. I would get a half chop if I were to return, if that's an option. I do recommend trying out though. My sandwich was about $16 with 2 meats.

Yelp
Isa and Sadm are so nice and the sandwiches are amazing and at fair prices for Manhattan. The chopped sandwich is al such a cool concept!

Yelp
I've seen a few videos of this deli and decided to visit today. Let me just start with the fact that they are open 24 hours Monday-Sunday and that's amazing because their sandwiches are equally amazing!! I'm not sure what's the best time to go but I went around 12:00 noon there was at least 8 people ahead of me. They do move quickly as there are three employees curating the delicious work of art sandwiches. I ordered a maple honey turkey with lettuce, tomato and provolone cheese along with the usual condiments consisting of oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and mayonnaise. I couldn't wait to get home to eat. Words can't describe how delicious this sandwich was. You get a taste of everything in a bite and I'm sure you're saying what's the big deal but if you've never had your deli sandwich chopped on a roll before you're definitely missing out. It was worth every single dollar ($13) and definitely enough to share which is what I did. Now that I'm stuffed I can honestly say, make your way to the Farmer in the Deli on Myrtle Ave and tell them I sent you. The employees are friendly and helpful. Eat, drink & enjoy!

Yelp
I went here one late night with some friends after seeing a concert as a snack. When we went in, there was a long line, but it went by relatively quickly. When it finally became my turn to order, I ordered a tuna sandwich with lettuce, tomato and spicy brown mustard. What I thought was really unique about this place is that they specialize in chopped sandwiches. The tuna sandwich was made fresh with an individual can of tuna, which was very unique. The sandwich was delicious- definitely would recommend this place!

Yelp
Got the chopped sandwich they are known for. Unique and fun twist on a classic. Bread was surprisingly good / fresh. Highly recommend although there was a significant wait.

Yelp
Weird "bacon" on the BLT. Like, sliced ham cut into the shape of bacon and maybe grilled for a second? I don't know what was happening with it, but I do not recommend. Sausage egg and cheese sandwich had little baby hotdog shaped sausages instead of a sausage patty, which was also weird, but tasted fine.

Yelp
CHECK RECEIPT!! Fraud ripoff. They charge double the menu price and hope you don't notice. When I brought it up, they tried to point to various options on the menu and it was almost comical. They said it costs 3$ to chop, but that doesn't have any advertisement on the menu. They just ask and don't tell you anything costs extra. I said no cheese and they tried to add for cheese! Insane. I reported them to the city for fraud. Apparently the city has a huge number of reports about this place . One of the worst offenders I've ever seen.

Yelp
Came here for viral chopped sandwiches! Great guys making the sandwiches, witty and friendly. If you like tuna salad or chicken salad sandwiches, you're gonna love this. It was a bit too much mayo for me personally and I prefer regular style sandwiches, which they do do!

Yelp
More of a 3.5 but I can't go to 4. Great concept and solid ingredients and price. However, it takes forever even with very few customers. Also, the bread just killed the whole thing. It wasn't super fresh, borderline stale, and no flavor. Also, I add chips that didn't add much flavor. If I did some big bold flavor I might have a difference experience. Certainly not a place to go out of your way for.

Yelp
Best sandwiches in the neighborhood! Friendly staff and quick service. Do not let the line scare you off (there's always a line!) - it goes by quickly and the end product is worth every bite! Tips: Don't forget to ask for it chopped! Also, they lean in on the mayo so ask for "light mayo" if you're adding it to your order and don't want it too creamy. (sorry no pic, I ate it too fast)

Yelp
There was a little wait due to the line but it was worth the wait. The chopped sandwiches were AMAZING and a great price. Less than $13

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! I came here early around 10:30 am thinking it would be empty and there was a line of about 8 people. I contemplated leaving due to the wait but I'm glad I stayed. I ordered a tuna chopped sandwich on a roll with everything (lettuce & tomato) and added onions, sweet peppers, oil & vinegar, black pepper, honey mustard and extra mayo. I wished I had gotten it on a hero because by the time I got to my parent's house, all eyes were on my sandwich saying how good it looked, of course I shared. Overall a great experience, worth the wait & very pleasant service!

Yelp
There is a beautiful revelation that exists within this deli. And how the hell am I only just finding out about this! Never too late I suppose. Saw Farmer in the Deli on a YouTube short and thought, why not? My expectations were honestly super low going in because I've been burned by these YouTube 'best sandwiches in New York' shorts, where the sandwiches weren't even half as good. But you miss a 100% of the shots you don't take so this was me taking that shot. The sandwich counter has roughly three people taking orders and a majority of the orders are for chopped sandwiches which take time so budget in some wait time. It took us about 30 minutes for our turn and another 15 or so minutes for the order to be prepared. We got two turkey subs, one with honey maple Turkey and the other with Cajun. We got them with mayo, pickles, jalapeños, onions, tomatoes and lettuce. The bread isn't toasted, they are generous with the sliced Turkey and generally came off as welcoming and nice people. They even let us try the turkey slices before we decided on them, which was kind, given how busy they are. The subs are huge and will last you two meals, depending on how hungry you are. And they are truly delicious and worth the wait. Something about them all being chopped up and mixed in, the bread is soft, it goes down super easy and fast. They taste just as good the next day so don't worry about it getting soggy. Each sub set us back $9.99 and it's the best $9.99 I ever spent. Farmer in the Deli has another forever patron - me!

Yelp
Staple in the Brooklyn! Farmer always hit whenever you're in the mood for a sandwich. And their bread is always fresh

Yelp
I want to rate them higher but I can't. If you know your business is popular, put things in place to make the line move quickly. Customer service is super important. Trader Joe's has it down to a science. Get some more help or something. I waited on the line a LONG time. It's like it took them 15 mins per person to make a sandwich. If they could fix their speed, I'd rate them a solid 4.5 The sandwiches are actually good.
