"Sugar Land shoppers can stop by the Farmers Market at Imperial on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and find homemade salsa and jam from Brenham Kitchens or a treat for your dog at Bones on the Go, and other vendors. Check out their artisan vendors, too, who sell a wide range of handmade goods other than food, like bath bombs, lip balm and crocheted gifts." - Brittany Britto Garley, Lane Gillespie

We LOVE going here. Recently bought a tonne of herbs and vegetables but also got amazing fresh curry and sauces with home made naan. They also have a pet stand that’s great for pet treats. The harvest bakery is amazing for delicious bread. Pet friendly and always a variety of sellers in all weather. Fresh local honey is great too. Usually runs 10am - 1pm I believe and plenty of parking right there.

The new Imperial Farmer's Market is now outdoors and I believe it's a temporary location. There seem to be fewer vendors, but we still came home with several new things to enjoy. There was live music, free samples, homemade foods, handmade custom cutting boards, local honey and fresh produce. This week, we are enjoying homemade curry chicken samosas, hot "Pain" avocado salsa and organic pomegranate juice from Azerbaijan. It was a sunny day and no mosquitoes! We'll be back.

Small and compact is the best I could describe it. You will find some interesting things as well. There is also a park next to it where they have softball game.

Google
Revising my rating down to a 3, mostly due to the City of Sugar Land taking over management of the market. My interactions with the lady running the market were very negative. Many of the good vendors have left.

I love this small market! Nice location with clean facilities. Love the music and variety of vendors. The market makes me feel as if I lived in a small town.

Google
WHAT A GREAT PLACE!!!!The vendors are all so nice, friendly, and knowledgeable about the products they have for sale. You literally get an education if you just say "hi" and ask about the fruit, vegetables, and specialty items. Candles that are special made to be natural and non petroleum based, wheat grass, sauces, dog treats, kabocha, breads, honey, knick knacks, an much much more!! Come meet wonderful people every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Support local! Thanks

Google

Great veggies but they need more vendors!

Yelp
Very friendly locals. Always a good way to spend your Saturday mornings. Definitely a two thumbs up venue

Yelp
A friend told us about this farmers market. We enjoyed shopping and scored some amazing tasty pork tamales, The lady offered us a whole tamale as a sample, we asked for mild instead of spicy, my wife likes tamales and I didn't want to eat them by myself, the mild was so good we bought a couple dozen. There was about 24 different vendors so it wasn't the biggest one we've been to, but it was fun, if you run across Granny's tamales....buy some, great meat to masa ration. Everything from clothes to microgreens. I deducted a star 'cause there was no coffee....drinks or whole beans. We will give them another try when we're in the area.

Yelp
A small local farmers market. I bought some wild caught salmon and shrimp. Organic chicken and chicken feet to make my stock. I also got some dog treats for my furry baby. Organic vegetables. Everyone here is friendly and it has a pretty good variety of food considering they are a small farmer's market.

Yelp
overall would recommend stopping by this farmers market. very friendly and accommodating people. great variety for it being on the smaller side.

Yelp
I haven't been to Imperial Farmers Market since they used to be located by the children's museum. Came by to check it out last weekend and was super disappointed. There were only 2 tents selling fresh produce and both looked like they were running out of stock around 9:40a. I'm not sure if it was just an off weekend or what, but we made our rounds and didn't find a single thing to purchase. I don't think I'll be returning again which is unfortunate because I used to love this market!!

Robert R.

Yelp
This was a nice farmers' market, but it only a few vendors. Mind you, enough to make it worth your while to come out but not enough to keep you there more than 15 minutes the first time and 10 minutes from then on.

Thuc V.

Yelp
My beloved city's farmers market is awesome! The selections might be small, but it is ever expanding. I particularly love the recent addition of the Kombucha Company, a local business that makes fermented tea drinks. Another recommendation is Big Poppin', which makes the best popcorn in town! I always buy a bunch whenever I can catch them at the market. My favorite flavor is the Original, but the Cajun flavor comes close second.

Yelp
Finally! Sugar Land has its very own Farmer's market. I've heard of another one down this way, but nothing as centrally located as the one at the old Imperial Sugar factory off of 90. This Farmer's market is located in the heart of Sugar Land and will be here for the next 10 weeks. Judging by the number of people I saw there today, I expect it to become a regular event from now on. We arrived promptly at 9am (the start time) and found the place was completely packed already. The parking was crazy with people making their own spots all over, but the nice thing is that there are several open fields and lots in the area, so we ended up only walking one block to get there. There was a wide variety of vendors from local fresh vegetables, baked goods, local meats and eggs, flowers, spices, dog treats, jewelry, and more. My favorite things were the fresh baked goods and the local produce. All of the local produce looked really good, including the cantaloupe (local and listeria-free). I also loved the pumpkin patch sponsored by the Lakeview school. There weren't many pumpkins, but I've read that they aren't as plentiful this year because of the drought. Yes, the place was packed and yes parking was a bit crazy, but this farmer's market has the potential to be an amazing part of life in Sugar Land. The vendors were selling out as quickly as they could put the stuff on their tables and by 10am I already saw the local Olive Oil company doing a run to their car for more cases. I think this first weekend will be a real learning experience for the organizers and vendors and next weekend will be even bigger and better. Go early (be there by 9am), bring your own bag (they should have some for sale, maybe next weekend?), and shop shop shop! It's every Saturday from 9am - 1pm through December 10.

Yelp
Sugar Land's Imperial Farmers Market is just as much a part of the city as any bureaucratic operation that sustains the pursuit of happiness in Southwest Houston. The area's long history of local commerce (150+ years) continues because of this market, despite almost shutting down and the sorting out of relocation. Currently meeting at the parking lot of the Imperial Park Recreation Center, I'd be aware of their website for up-to-date dates & times if you REALLY need local honey are just assume they're open until 2 (*ahem, definitely not talking from experience...) Highlight: Fort Bend Coffee Roasters consistently brought their java A-game, which energized the crowds and in my opinion brought the market to a broader age market. Downfall: Having been moved from the original, old sugar mill location on Imperial Sugar Company's (ISC) land was unfortunate. It would be great to see a more permanent location back on the other side of the tracks (literally). Some vendors are so desperate for sales that customers avoid their booth entirely, attempting to avoid the several awkward, "okay, thanks! bye now" while walking backwards. Fact: Dogs are welcome, especially cute ones. Although a spontaneous ugly dog contest would amazing. History: Accredited by The Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce, the market is in its 7th year operating (2018). Tip: Street parking is available along Matlage Way, but be careful of crossing pedestrians. There's no marked crosswalks.

Yelp
First but not the last time a rather higher quality farmers market. Great Indian foods, fresh cheap veggies, baked goods. Two dog stuff stallls. Great prices and friendly people!!

Yelp
My mom and I came here this past Saturday and left within about 30 minutes. I'm more of a thrifty shopper, so I couldn't get myself to buy most of the items here. My mom kept telling me that she can get all of this for half the price in Chinatown. She's right. I can understand paying a premium for locally grown and organic, but a lot of produce we saw were not. Quoting my friend, "Most of the food bought at a farmers market are crap that they get cheap at the local produce market that is misshapen and extra. When you go to a supermarket you'd say, oh that cucumber looks like s***. In a farmer's market you say, oh, how quaint. We used to go to the Amish market near Philly, and they would have strawberries in the fall. They were all grown in Florida or California.. but people didn't stop and think." The weather could not have been more perfect. Everyone was really nice. It was nice seeing local restaurants selling food - international fare.

Yelp
We went today at 11am and it was warm and humid. You drive and park in either their lot or parallel park on the street. Booths are set up beneath a warehouse like structure and a boardwalk that is covered. The market doesn't have the cheapest prices but the theory is that you are paying a little extra for organic and fresh picked items. I looked around at the vegetables and passed on purchasing them because they didn't look as pretty and were pricier than the market. I think you can support the local economy but I don't have extra money to be doing that. There are a bunch of vegan gluten free stalls but I like good old fashioned baking and cooking. There was a stall with fresh bread and croissants but I didn't get anything there. 2 stalls selling indian food items. Nisha's was very popular and had flavored naans and chutney. The other stall, I can't remember the name had different canned sauces for $10 a jar. There is a berry hill tamales stand selling breakfast tacos that was popular. In the outer mall there were a few bbq stalls selling sauces. Unfortunately no one was bbqing just selling rubs and sauces. The one stall that I did end up buying stuff at was Zierau's fine food and catering. The chef had a little station and gave us a sample of his ratatouille which was delicious. You can get a tub for $7 and it is chock full of veggies, feta and kalamata olives. We also tried a kobe slider which was delicious for $4 which was a good deal considering it was kobe beef and he payed attention to details like warming the bun. Hate it when they don't and the bun cracks or falls apart. He had some other dishes but the price point was a bit steep for a farmer's market. One past dish was $18 and I just wouldn't pay that much to stand and eat on a paper plate. Would recommend he adjust proportions and pricing to be more like a food truck from 4-8 dollars...he would likely get more business. All in all not quite like the markets in Seattle and Boston but it's something to do on Saturday morning.

Yelp
3.25 Stars. I came here having read the reviews, but I had no idea just how small a selection of produce and foods for purchase we were actually talking! I mean, I give it 3 stars simply for existing, it's great that Sugar Land has somewhere to go to connect with local farmers and buy some local offerings. I give it another quarter star for having an excellent wagyu beef vendor in the mix. As other reviewers have already said, don't expect to get everything you need for the week at this market, but, you can definitely get some of the basics (potatoes, cucumbers, peppers, seasonal fruit) here.

Ada C.

Yelp
lots of vendors selling different things like hot sauces in many different flavors, local honey, fresh veggies, bread & croissant, and baked goods! Gotta love the cakes and desserts, and Sinfull Bakery is there!!!! yummmmmm :)

Yelp
The Imperial Farmers Market is literally in my neighborhood - yet I hadn't visited the market in a couple of years. I finally made the visit last weekend and was impressed as to how much its grown since my last visit when they had first started. Their are now several vendors selling baked goods, pastries, fragrances, soaps, tea, coffee and fresh fruits/vegetables. The prices of the products aren't too bad either. I was able to purchase a large blueberry pie made with natural ingredients only for 10 dollars. I absolutely enjoyed the pie, as it is a product that is difficult to find here (made with fresh tasting blueberries). I also enjoyed my iced coffee made right in front of me by Fort Bend Coffee roasters. They have some great coffee beans. It was a hot early afternoon and rather a nice way to cool myself down. The Imperial Market also boasts some local and handmade jewelry. There are a few foodtrucks as well. All in all, i'm looking forward to visiting again and picking up new products each time I visit! Support your local farmers and purchase seasonal items!

GlobeTrotter 1.

Yelp
Do not go here expecting you can get all your vegetable shopping done. Unfortunately there are only two actual farmer's stands with fresh produce. There are lots of other local vendors who sell their coffee, candles, honey and jewelry. In all, it's still a cute but very small market. If your looking for more produce variety I would recommend Frobergs Farm in Alvin over the Imperial Farmer's market. Be sure to visit the Sugar Land Heritage Museum to learn more about the factory and Sugar Land itself.

Yelp
Anyone who goes to a farmer's market should know this isn't your bargain-hunting place compared to a chain grocery store, but it's totally worth the trip. To give you an idea of prices, on Saturday I bought green onions (now in season) that were as tall as 2 ft (totally not kidding), four bulbs for $2. I also bought a large bunch of cilantro ($2) and delivered to some neighbors because I can't use the whole bunch before it goes bad (same with the green onions). The same stall sells beautiful greens, usually 2 kinds (collard greens, red mustard, kale, etc.) for $5. There's an italian sausage stall whose hot and spicy flavor is delicious! While the sausage is $6 a package (think you get 5-6 links), I feel it's worth it for the flavor (and I'm known as being the stingy one in my group of friends). There are some non-produce stalls, of course, like Skeeters baseball team (it's still local right?), some pre-made food, and very little gift-like stalls (can't stand buying candles). If you go in the "canopy" building (and not outside), that's where you'll find about 6-8 produce stalls. They carry enough of a variety that I feel my aggregate weekly spending on groceries is less at the farmer's market versus Kroger. [I have issues resisting sale items!] Teresita's Cafe has excellent pulled pork tacos and $1 mimosas. You might also want to check out Berryhill's mimosas. I can't remember what I paid at Berryhill, but I think the mimosa is bigger for the amount of money you spend (but Teresita's tacos are better). FYI I've only spent cash here whenever I go (never have seen a credit card sign/sticker), so be prepared. There is a live band with tables and chairs in front for you to sit, small parking lot, lots of parking on the street, and dogs are welcome. There's also cooking demonstrations, and if you're lucky enough to hit the right time (check website), ample helpings of samples are available. This farmer's market is now open every Saturday morning. I definitely like this farmer's market compared to Urban Harvest at Eastside (too many candles and fluff) and Urban Harvest in Sugar Land's Town Center on Thursdays. I still think the Farmer's Market off of Airline Drive is better, but this is so much closer to home. I always feel welcome, the people who run the stalls are friendly, and I get enough produce to last me a couple of weeks!

N C.

Yelp
We've been going to this farmers market since they first opened. We usually hit the market when we need fresh bread or veggies. There's a table that sells a lot of bakery items that are good. There are usually two or three vendors selling veggies. They're suppose to sell Texas products, but I wonder about one veggie vendor. The vendors are hit and miss as far as who's going to be there. I guess it has a lot to do with the weather. The worst thing about this farmers market is all the dogs. I love dogs, but these people bring their dogs out and fail to pick up after them. It's pretty bad when you have to worry about where you step. I guess some people don't care, are too lazy, or are just plain trash. If the organizers don't do something about it then we'll stop going.

Lasairiona M.

Yelp
I disagree 100% with the lady who says that farmers markets aren't the place to go bargain-hunting for fruit and veg. Any farmers market that I've been to has been and cheap as chips! Sugar Land prices are not cheap, the market is small and more of a craft based market. If you want crafts and things like honey, seasonings, jewellery and candles Sugar Land farmers market is most certainly the place to be. If you want a huge market, fresh, cheap produce, a fantastic selection of fruit and veg (also across the street from a fantastic bakery) go to Caninos on Airline rd!

Lonny Y.

Yelp
I stopped in on a complete whim. I'd always wanted to come by but never found the time. There was nothing I needed, but figured I might as well since I was driving right by! And I'm glad I did! Grabbed a tote bag from the trunk, and started my journey. An hour later, I emerged with a stuffed bag full of butternut squash, corn and homemade dog biscuits! I was also given a sample bag of cajun kettle corn which I should have tried while I was there, and not on the drive home. Because holy moly, they were pretty freakin good. All the vendors there were so great. I read a couple of the previous reviews, and have to disagree with them. I definitely do not think it is pricier here, especially since you know where your food is coming from and of course, since you're supporting the local community. I was able to score 6 huge butternut squashes for $18.... I'm almost certain that is a fantastic deal. Granted, if I had bought 1, it would have been much more, but the good thing about dealing with the seller directly, is you're able to haggle a bit. Don't go overboard though. I also loved being able to talk to the local vendors. All in all, a great detour to my Saturday morning. I will try and come back, at least for that cajun kettle corn.

Melody F.

Yelp
i went to the new farmers market in sugarland. Love it! you can get anything grass fed beef, wheat free cookies, sausage with no fillers or gluten, homemade spaghetti sauce, goat cheese, wheat grass is the best! tons of veggies and eggs. I feel people charge way to much for the eggs though. they arent gold! it was easy to park and lots of friendly faces. there was also a lady selling homemade dog treats and all natural sprays for fleas and shampoo for hot spots. I did spend to much money, next time i go will do the dog lady, veggies, and the wheatgrass guy.

Cathi S.

Yelp
Today I visited the new farmers market in Sugar Land. I hear they are having it for ten weeks beginning Oct 1st. So I guess todays was the fourth one. Well, it's a bit crowded so I imagine that means the people in this area would really like to have an ongoing successful farmers market. There were about 30 booths under the pavilion........mostly what I expected to see......some fresh seasonal veggies, food booths, fresh baked items, homemade items, gift items, etc. A nice sampling of each. Outside were more vendors, Enchanted Gardens with plants and herbs (yay!) more food, coffee, music, and demonstrations. Parking pretty much s*cks........unless you get a spot someone pulls out of. I got to walk about two blocks on rough gravel. My opinion...........this could turn into something special. And I hope it does.

Julie H.

Yelp
The Market has tokens you can get to pay vendors for your products. This is an excellent way to not write so many checks or not have cash for those items you want to get.

Alan Grassonthego B.

Yelp
Great vendors great products and open till 1 pm I am there every Saturday. I love it!!

Susan C.

Yelp
Loved visiting this cute, small farmers market! It was hot outside, but had nice cool Fort Bend ice coffee. Gina's eggs are good. The jam guy, who's stall is next to Gina's eggs and a honey guy, is good. The popsicles were very refreshing in the heat. I'd come again, but maybe earlier in the day when it's cooler.

Brianna W.

Yelp
Really fun! Prices are as you would expect a bit higher than at the grocery, but not extraordinary. Not a huge selection, only two stores selling veggies when I was there, and one doing meat, another doing canned food, the rest were specialty (ex: pie, candle, kombucha). But the produce I bought tasted great. Very nice to know you're supporting local business! I also had some of the best salsa ever here. It was great to buy in packaged food. I dumped all my veg into one bag, and my salsa jar got reused, making this a zero waste trip which was awesome. I wouldn't go for all my groceries, but overall it was a fun way to spend a few hours, especially as a zero-waste option.

Martha G.

Yelp
This is a great little farmers market in Sugar Land. They are open Saturday's, 9-1, year round. Although there are fewer farmers and more prepared foods/wares in the winter months. There are several excellent farmers selling vegetables, including our favorite: Edmonds Farms who has beef, chicken, and eggs (seasonally), in addition to abundant vegetables. We also love Bella's Kitchen's muffins and Quick 'n Ezee Indian Food. There is a fabulous kettle corn guy there, although he isn't there every week. They always have fun things/crafts for the kids and live music of some sort. Berryhill has a booth with tacos and tamales and margaritas. Get their fish tacos: so tasty! This is a fun family outing on a Saturday morning.

Heidi M.

Yelp
I love the farmers Market. Especially for the fact that it is so close to home. Ladies and Gentlemen, let's remember why we have a farmers market. Even if you think that the prices are higher than a grocery store, that is not a fair comparison! Please! I go for Free Range Chickens, Beef (grass fed and no hormones), Lamb fresh from the man that raised them down the street. I want the best! Why don't you take some time and do your own research on meats that come from the grocery store. Let's support our local farmers market and you we will all benefit from it. If you go every week end and get to know some folks, they will always give you special deals and helpful hints. I hope some day I will be there with my awesome vegetables that I will be offering people in our community. I currently grow a garden and it is hard work to keep your crop healthy and productive. Tip: Take a cooler with you that has a bit of ice in it. You will need to refrigerate some items.

Kathy H.

Yelp
I've been going to the Farmers Market at Imperial since it opened. I'm disappointed that there seems to be fewer vendors during the hot summer months, but in reality, there are also fewer people visiting. I'm hoping to see traffic pick up as we start getting into the fall months. I love all the produce booths. Prices are not only reasonable, but the cilantro, spaghetti squash, butternut squash, and many other vegetables are much nicer than what I've found in the grocery stores. I go almost every Saturday to stock up on locally grown fruits and vegetables -- especially those that are organically grown. I love the wheat grass/juice booth and other booths (under the covered pavilion) that offer vegan and gluten-free baked goods -- all very tasty! Also, some great Italian sausage and nice local honey. You can get your knives sharpened there, too -- while you wait! Be sure to bring them with you when you come. The Water Ice booth is a great place to stop during the hot summer months. It's a "snow cone" with ice that is as smooth as snow -- topped off with a wonderful fruity flavor. I like the sugar-free "cloud" flavor. I'm hoping to see more artisan and craft vendors return as the holidays approach. Location is great -- in the shadows of the historic Imperial Sugar Refinery off of Hwy. 90-A and Hwy. 6. Parking is convenient. Many vendors take credit cards, but just as many don't. I recommend coming with cash. Most will also take a local check, but I get tired of writing checks!

Alex F.

Yelp
Great food there from the local vendors and farmers. A bit more what you would pay from going to whole foods and sometimes more but it's neat to go there just to check it out every once in awhile. I think when you hear the name 'Imperial Farmer's Market' people have the idea that it's a traditional farmer's market where you would get really fresh food from locals at a good price but this isn't the place to get a good deal. I'm use to traditional one's similar in other countries where that's just about the only place to get produce but with the competition of big grocery stores, that's kinda hard to do here. Overall, it's good despite the complaints.

Skyler D.

Yelp
Incredible place, everything I could hope for from a farmers market & more. I discovered it one Saturday & went back every Saturday since.

Monique P.

Yelp
A great farmer's market for the Sugarland area. There are tons of local vendors with fresh fruits, veggies, prepared foods, desserts, art, beauty products, snacks- the list goes on and on. I love coming here on a weekend and just browsing through everything.

Nipa S.

Yelp
What a JOY to have this farmers market participating in my neck of the woods. The vendors are great... Still growing in size. You can have a family outing along with a delicious fresh made breakfast. The vendors all have great quality products.

Eliza R.

Yelp
This place was great. I'd been waiting to go here for a while now and it was well worth the wait. Don't let people's comments on price for farmers market food discourage you. Would you rather spend it on healthy fruits and veggies or your hospital expenses down the line. I have two girls under five and they lived it as well. Wonderful family outing and they give great suggestions for recipes. Will definitely be going back!

Kate L.

Yelp
5 stars for The Farmer's Market. 5 Stars for Fulshear Soaps. Nice soaps clean and smell great. Check them out this Saturday. http://southwesthoustontxtimes.blogspot.com/2013/09/fulshear-soaps-at-imperial-farmer-market.html

Yelp
Hmmm...I honestly expected so much more out of this farmers market! Arrrgggh! I don't know why, but i just did. It is in such a great location next to a giant historical sugar factory! I guess I really wanted to love this farmers market, but I just couldn't. It was such a sad let down. I came here with my two great friends to explore and get our hands on some great fruits, veggies, and other local paraphernalia. When we arrived we noticed that their were only like 20 vendors! What? So you mean I drove all the way out to sugar land to debate on weather I should buy some veggies or some mediocre hemp dog collars (I dont even own a dog! Thats how boring it was!). I love me a good farmers market, but I guess I am used to a large variety and selection of goods (damn you Walmart!). I guess I will not be coming back, but on the positive side it was super great to be by the sugar factory and I got some uber cool pics of it, and the olive oil lady had some pretty fabulous olive oil!

Kathy M.

Yelp
It's a nice market, but I wish they would get more local produce in. I went today and no watermelon and no melons. And no tomatoes except for a place that had a few bags of cherry tomatoes. I wish it were more like the one on Richmond Ave or the one at Rice University. They have have fresh peaches, tomatoes, melons, everything that is fresh in season. I do love the Marzetti (?) sausage, Sweets by Susan is wonderful. Her pies are fantastic, especially her chicken pot pie and the kettle corn is wonderful!

Von T.

Yelp
I LOVE that Sugar Land now has its own farmer's market at the Imperial Sugar plant! It is really packed and there are a good number of vendors. I've gone a couple of times and have purchased coffee, cheese, tamales, baked goods and fresh produce. I like the variety of vendors but wish there were more prepared and ready to eat food options. We were able to get a delicious broccoli, cheese chicken calzone (can't remember vendor name) and a tasty blueberry lemon scone for breakfast. I also enjoy the live music acts that play every Saturday. I read that there are food demos but I haven't been able to catch them. I hope this farmer's market stays around and will continue to drop by on Saturdays.

y b.

Yelp
Not your traditional farmers market, but nice to visit all the same. Very few vegetable and fruit vendors, more local artisans and local natural sundries. Nishas Indian food is sold here along with my new favorite coffee roaster, Fort Bend Coffee Roasters, delish. Another must is Big Poppas kettle popcorn, the carmel is my substitute when I crave Garrett's (Chicago). It is not Garrett's, but it is the closet I have found in Houston. I would visit just for those three.

Vivian S.

Yelp
First time there! Vendors so nice. Love the bakery! Veggies so fresh...Will come back again!
