I'm taking a break from boozing while I grow a baby, but I had a great time at Bar326 a couple weeks ago. My new book came out earlier this month, and I had my launch event at Barnes & Noble on a Thursday night. Matt B. and I wanted to host an afterparty for everyone who came out, and we decided on this place after scouting out the Farmers Market the previous Thursday. Hot tip for anyone who needs it--the Farmers Market empties out at night, and Bar326 is a super chill, comfortable spot to gather and drink a few beers with a large party.
We talked to Vincent when we went to scope the place out. He was the sole bartender on duty, and he was really nice and helpful. We said we wanted to host an open bar from whenever my book event got out until closing. He said no problem, and that there would actually be two bartenders on duty when we came back with our crew. We could just show up and start a tab, and we'd all be free to take our drinks and sit anywhere in the Farmers Market until 11:00.
The party went beautifully. We came with around 40 people starting at 9:00 or so, and we took over the bar and the adjacent seating area. Everyone drank except me, pretty much. Service must've been quick and easy. Vincent was an excellent host, and I never saw anyone waiting around without a drink. Bar326 is beer and wine only, but the list is great, with a robust tap selection. The vibe was calm and relaxing but still very festive.
Matt and I guessed the damage before going to Vincent to close out, and the actual tab came in way under. It cost much less than we thought to host an open bar for a couple of hours, and we were totally happy we decided to do it. Even without alcohol, I had a blast at Bar326 and hope to party there again.
