NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"Farzi, an Indian restaurant brand with several international locations, has an NYC outpost in Tribeca. It’s from the son of Jiggs Kalra, an Indian food writer and tastemaker, and they’ll serve food from all over the country, typically with fancy plating, or with a twist. My friends and I picked this place to celebrate the end of 2025 and the atmosphere was perfect for it. We really enjoyed most of the dishes, the chili chicken bao, daal Chawal Orinchini, the cod and the lamb shank we great. The cocktails were OK and a little on the weak side. Our server Harish was attentive and great with recommendations. The evening was almost perfect. The only strange thing was how the owner of the restaurant tried to rush us out as soon as we finished the last bite of our desserts. Our evening ended quite abruptly after that. In the future I'd recommend that he doesn't do that.

Farzi is impressive from the minute you walk in, the decor is amazing and the ambiance is fabulous. My family and I were greeted and seated immediately with a friendly smile from the staff. Our server Harish was very friendly and courteous, he made some good recommendations on dishes and drinks, conversation with him was pleasant and he would constantly check up on us to make sure our table was taken care. Executive Chef Gaurav and team were beyond impressive, chef himself stopped by our table a few times and brought us some amazing tasters!. His cooking technique is very unique with creativity and fusion of spices with various authentic dishes is next level. We ordered a variety of dishes and and breads, every dish was packed with flavor. Loved our dining experience from start to finish....this is what fine dining is all about.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I visited Farzi last night, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. Our server, Harish, was outstanding—attentive, warm, and always making sure we were taken care of. He explained each dish and gave great recommendations, which really enhanced our meal. The food was the true highlight. Every dish was beautifully presented, and they’ve taken Indian cuisine to the next level. The chef even came to our table to introduce himself and explain each dish, which made the experience even more special. The flavors were just as incredible as the presentation. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this place!

Farzi Café truly lives up to the hype. It’s an upscale spot with a creative twist on Indian fusion food, and everything from the ambiance to the presentation feels thoughtfully done. Visited here on my wife’s birthday and a special shoutout to the team for accommodating Jain food — the dishes were completely out of the box, authentic, and beautifully made. Our order taker, Harish, was extremely helpful, which made the experience even better. Definitely a place worth visiting if you enjoy modern Indian cuisine done right. Will visit back again to try their dessert and other mocktails.

We were soooo psyched when a Connaught place classic opened in NYC! Here’s everything we ate and what we liked/didn’t like- The starters are BOMB! Highly recommend 100 layer chaat and bombay crossroads. The brioche bun is out of the world. We had a mocktail for a change - we picked a drink called mango-lada- it was the BEST drink I’ve ever had in my life. The mains were a bit disappointing. We got the paneer cloud lababdar and the laal maas shank. The lababdar curry was cold and had a weird flavor when eaten with chilli-rosemary naan (I saw it was highly recommended in other reviews so I reached for it). The laal maas was average, the sauce on it was better than the actual meat. They had such delicate personal touches with their classic amouse bouche and these little mango icecream pops between courses. The service was also excellent. All in all, a lovely evening out!

Farzi NYC never disappoints! I’ve been here 4–5 times now, and every single visit has been an incredible experience. I’ve brought friends and family from all over the country, and each one of them has left raving about the food, service, and atmosphere. The servers Harish and Shiva deserve a special mention — they’re absolute gems of humans! Their hospitality, genuine warmth, and thoughtful recommendations always make the meal extra special. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, and it’s rare to see that level of care and consistency. Now, the food — wow. The Mumbai Crossroads appetizer is my go-to! The Chilli Rosemary Naan is unlike any other naan. And the Paneer Lababdar? Absolutely to die for. Their gin-infused Paan cocktail is another standout. It’s one of the most unique and refreshing drinks I’ve ever had — a perfect end (or start!) to the meal that captures the essence of Indian flavors in a modern, playful way. For me, Farzi nails it every single time —. Highly, highly recommend! And no this is not a paid review <3

Google
Hands down the best Indian food in the city. I’ve been to pretty much every Indian restaurant around, and there’s always something that disappoints—an off day in the kitchen, a weak dish, or inconsistent flavors. Farzi is the only place where, across 6–7 visits, every meal has been consistently excellent. I’ve tried most of the menu, including the new additions, and I keep walking out impressed. The food is inventive but still deeply rooted in real Indian flavors. Among the appetizers, the Mumbai Crossroad is a star—the bhaji is rich and perfectly spiced, and that soft bun with the cream filling is just out of this world. The Dal Chawal Arancini sounded like a gimmick at first, but the Italian twist on classic dal-chawal is genuinely brilliant; it’s a must-order and feels like a true signature. The 100-layer potato chaat nails the contrast of textures—crunchy and soft in all the right spots. Malai broccoli is another surprise: I never thought I’d eat broccoli with that much enthusiasm. Their goat cheese tikka is right up there with the best malai tikkas I’ve had anywhere. And the keema shepherd’s pie, listed under appetizers, is “crazy good” comfort food—familiar flavors with a very fun presentation. Mains are equally strong. The Paneer Cloud is exactly what it sounds like: incredibly soft paneer in a beautifully balanced curry, the kind of dish you just want to keep going back to. The chicken kofta is rich, flavorful, and cooked perfectly—tender, well-seasoned, and deeply satisfying. Their dal is slow-cooked, buttery, and comforting, and the goat curry is a rare gem; you almost never see proper goat curry on menus here, with most places defaulting to lamb, and this version is robust, aromatic, and full of character. Their breads deserve their own paragraph. The butter naan might be the only truly “authentic-feeling” butter naan I’ve found in the city—soft, slightly chewy, and generously buttered without being greasy. The kalonji sourdough naan and ajwain chilli paratha are so good they could practically be a separate course; you could build a whole meal just around the bread basket. The new three cheese naan on the menu is also a delight Desserts are outstanding. Dakshin is one of the best Indian-inspired desserts I’ve had (you would be surprised hearing from the chef of what are the ingredients and how nice they go together), and the motichoor cannoli is perfectly balanced, with every bite giving that little flavor “burst” in your mouth. Their mocktails are consistently well crafted and pair really nicely with the food. The ambience is warm, modern, and comfortable. If you can, try to sit at the chef’s table—it makes the whole experience even more special. I also really appreciate how they treat guests: I sometimes dine solo, and Farzi is one of the very few places where I’ve always been treated with the same attention and warmth as a big group. The staff is unfailingly kind, professional, and genuinely hospitable. Overall, Farzi is massively underrated. I’ve never had a disappointing experience here, and for anyone looking for Indian food that’s both imaginative and consistently excellent, this is the place I recommend. and don’t recommend to say Hi to Chef Gaurav, such a sweet guy and the soul of this place

Google
An unforgettable modern Indian feast From the moment you step inside Farzi, you know you're in for a special evening. The decor's soft, intimate lighting casts a warm glow over a minimalist space, accented with rich, jewel-toned textiles and delicate patterns. Beautiful artwork on the walls and the quiet hum of ambient music complete the sophisticated, yet cozy, atmosphere, making it ideal for both a romantic date night and a celebratory dinner. The true star of the show is the food, thanks to the remarkable talent of the young Chef. The menu is a vibrant journey that honors authentic Indian flavors while presenting them with an innovative, contemporary flair. From appetizers to main course each dish was a pure revelation, surprise and work of art, with vibrant colors and artful placement that made every dish a feast for the eyes before it was for the palate. The creativity extends to the drink menu as well. We were delighted by the thoughtful mocktail and cocktail selection, which moved far beyond standard juices and drinks The service was impeccable throughout the night. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about the menu, guiding us through the dishes and describing the chef's vision for each plate. In a culinary landscape where "modern" often sacrifices soul, Farzi succeeds brilliantly. It's a place where authentic Indian tastes are respected and elevated through fresh vision and flawless technique. An unforgettable experience that I cannot recommend highly enough.

Yelp
It was a great experience dining at Farzi NYC. Food and Service was out out of the world. Drinks were ubique and had great Collections. There were some unique presentation for the Food which made the overall experience memorable for our party. Highly recommended the salmón and lamb Shane there.

Yelp
From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, stylish, and thoughtfully designed. Every dish balanced traditional Indian flavors with a fresh, contemporary approach -- familiar yet exciting in the best possible way. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were vibrant without being overwhelming. You can tell the kitchen really cares about quality ingredients and creative execution. The service was just as impressive: attentive, friendly, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great time. Whether you're a longtime fan of Indian food or trying it in a new way, this place is a must-visit. I'll definitely be coming back and recommending it to friends. A truly five-star experience!

Yelp
(1 out of 5 stars) We came to Farzi New York for a friend's 40th and had one of the most frustrating dining experiences we've ever had in the city. We had 8:30 PM reservations but weren't seated until 9:45 PM. The host said it was because earlier guests arrived late and they didn't enforce the 15-minute rule -- the same issue we had here on July 6th. There were no cocktails because, per staff, the bartender came in drunk and was fired that day. Then by 10 PM, we were told to order dessert because the kitchen was closing. The manager stepped in and said desserts would be on the house, but when the bill came, we were charged full price plus a Diet Coke that never arrived. They eventually fixed it and gave a discount, but it didn't make up for the chaos. The food was excellent, but the service was among the worst we've had in New York -- no accountability, no communication, and no hospitality (not even a drink offer during the hour-plus wait). Great food, but a management mess. We won't be returning.

Yelp
Farzi is a great new addition to the NYC Indian food scene! Lots of innovative dishes that we haven't seen before. I'd recommend the: - dal arancini - lamb chops - 100 layer potato chat - chicken bao buns We also got naan and the paneer donut curry as our main but if I had to return I'd do only small dishes and skip the larger dishes. It was still good but not as good as the small dishes. Loved that they started you with a unique bite and served a palette cleanser before the main. Very minor but would have loved to see a thinner stem wine glass from them! The wine glasses gave sports bar instead of fine dining.

Yelp
Dishes are interesting and well presented but flavors weren't that great. Didn't realize this is where Goa used to be! thought everything missed the mark a bit on spice, flavors, and quality

Yelp
The food is excellent and very well served. We were a big group and they were able to accommodate us. The decor is pretty good. The staff is very friendly and made sure that we had a good time. I would highly recommend this if you are in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Surprised by the poor reviews, because food-wise this place was absolutely brilliant. Service during our visit was good too, thanks to Samantha who was friendly, attentive, and quick with her orders. Mutton lovers - this is where you should be! Noise levels on the average end and decor/interiors remain unchanged from the previous restaurant, Goa New York. A much better looking menu though, and while most appetizers were creative what stood out for Vegetarians was the Dal Makhani and the Jackfruit Pulao. Non-vegetarians on our table polished the Mutton Curry which was an absolute no-brainer. Served in a traditional Hawkins pressure cooker, it gave a very desi feel to the dish. Cocktails were forgettable though, and they did not have any beer on draft. Service was extremely quick and food arrived within 5 mins of placing the order. Overall, a positive experience, and definitely worth a visit. Go here for their mutton curry and you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I would give Farzi 3.8 stars. It's got a very trendy vibe, great for special occasion. The menu has some pretty unique options. We had the crunch theory, dal chawa aranchini, and guntur chilli chicken bao as appetizers. The dal chawa arachini were quite a bit softer in texture than I had hoped and topped with green chutney (which is not a favorite of mine) but overall, I still enjoyed them. For mains we had the portobello mushroom do Pyaza and butter naan and chilli garlic rosemary naan. The curry was good, the bread a bit oily. The chilli garlic rosemary naan was also covered in red chilli powder which we didn't love. Overall good. The service was VERY attentive. Almost awkwardly so. I had to say very very often that I don't want another drink (even though the Spicy Mango Margarita was very good!). There was also weirdness about wanting to put items down in a very specific on the table even where there clearly wasn't space for it. Sometimes one person put it down, then another followed and rearranged it. Seemed very over the top and unnecessary to me especially because it disrupted conversations and our meal.

Yelp
Finally got to try this new spot that has just opened up in New York. Farzi Cafe is a really popular spot in one of my favorites back in Mumbai. I was very excited to try the food and the drinks here. The set up and the ambience is fantastic and the service was excellent. The servers made some great recommendations. The owner and the manager were present and give all their customers full attention. They have some really creative cocktails, and we tried two of their cocktails, which was the strawberry guava cocktail and mango lassi! Going to the food: everything we tried was excellent and the portion size was perfect! They started us with kulfi bites , we then ordered appetizers - chicken Kebab, hibiscus pani shots (their take on pani puri) and the paneer lasagna. For the mains, we had the delicious chicken biryani and Boondi raita. Ended the meal with amazing deserts - kheer cannolis and the date brownie chocolate and ice creams. The desserts are made with natural sweeteners and are relatively healthy! In the mood to try a new spot and good Indian food, please check out Farzi!

Yelp
Very chill ambiance with good music, but the food really took the prize. Creative presentations for age old recipes, often with a twist. Service was alright, the server forgot a drink order too. And what truly irritated us was that the missed drink and two other drink items surprisingly showed up on the bill. Be careful about that when you visit.

Yelp
As a travel-loving adventure mom, I was blessed to be able to bring my six children on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to New York City. After reading the great things about this restaurant, I decided this would be the perfect place to enjoy Indian food in the city. I ordered three appetizers, two entrées, three orders of rice, and six orders of garlic naan. I asked the waiter what soft drinks they had on the menu, as they were not listed. They carried Coke products, so everyone at the table ordered a Coke. As the kids finished their drinks, the wait staff kindly offered to refill them, which is normal at every restaurant we ever dine at, so there was no thought to say no. The total for the food was $129 before tax & gratuity. The bill for the original drinks was $42 dollars $6 per Coke, a little pricey, but we are in New York and we are on vacation. However, none of the staff serving our table ever mentioned that refills were not free, and they charged us for every single drink brought to the table $102 for Coca-Cola. Gratuity was automatically added, which finalized my bill to $300. Needless to say, I was shocked. The food and service were good; however, the lack of communication and transparency was utterly unacceptable, especially since the soft drinks were not clearly marked on any of the menus, and I specifically had to ask the waiter. What should have been a great dining memory ended with my kids feeling guilty for the rest of the day, feeling like they wasted money. ‍

Yelp
Food was delicious. Manager was awesome. Would recommend for a dinner out with the guys. Really wonderful time. Ambiance was also really cool and appreciated the playlist.

Yelp
They close down the kitchen whenever they want depending on traffic regardless of whether you have reservation. The bar is like a state fair ground with bar tenders shouting and absolute chaos. Another one of those Indian restaurants that draws initial 6 months crowd and then sputters.

Yelp
Love this international icon coming to NYC! Awesome food, great manager, really good service. Just a matter of time before every insta food blogger starts talking about this spot! The CTM, the paneer lasagna, the naans and the daal are a must. Get all the breads!!

Yelp
The menu is creative and fantastic. Loved the paneer lasagna. Cocktails were also fun and had unexpected touches.

Yelp
Mediocre. Better places in the city at this price point. Some dishes were good, but some were disappointing. Not going back unless they work on the food

Yelp
Farzi Indian Cuisine is a perfect blend of modern creativity and authentic flavor. Every dish bursts with bold spices and beautiful presentation, and the service is top-notch. The atmosphere is stylish yet welcoming, and the cocktails are just as memorable as the food. Easily one of the best Indian dining experiences I've ever had -- a must-visit!

Yelp
I recently made my reservation at Farzi for a dinner with my wife as I had no expectations I must say that this place definitely did surprise me in a positive way Food the ambiance and the service was definitely A+ and I am definitely going back to this place and would refer this place to anyone looking for amazing food priced right .

Munesh A.

Yelp
Great food and service! Highly recommend! The paneer lasagna was unique and bold, the CTM was a classic, and I enjoyed their dal makhni.
