The Best Breweries and Taprooms in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"Fat Bottom essentially swapped a small, 5000-square-foot facility in East Nashville for a state-of-the-art 33,000-square-foot home in the Nations. The new facility sits on an acre and a half plot of land which afforded Fat Bottom space to not only expand the production floor and taproom but also build a giant event space and The Hop Yard, its outdoor beer garden. The brewery also operates a full-service kitchen that’s open for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch." - Kellie Walton

14 Best Nashville Bars | Condé Nast Traveler

"Beer-loving folks from all Nashville's neighborhoods convene at this spacious brewery, easily accessible from I-40. The beer is inventive and the taps ever-changing, whether a prickly pear saison in springtime, or a smoked pumpkin porter and a bourbon barrel-aged oatmeal stout in the cooler months. The Hop Yard beer garden and patio is glorious on a warm spring day." - Margaret Littman

When people list “best in Nashville” I normally don’t pay attention to it. I come here about every other month but today was the first time I had the Beer Cheese Pretzel. When I say this was the best pretzel I’ve ever had. Oh my goodness. If you care about other stuff Fat Bottom has to offer, kid friendly, good beer, great service, I saw a complaint somewhere about the QR service but they still serve your table. I think it’s just something they use when they are busy so you don’t have to wait. None of their food is bad, some of the food like the beer cheese pretzel will have you wondering what the other stuff you had before ever was. Get the pretzel even if you don’t like pretzel.

On 5/20 my Nashville Social group attended Singo for the first time at Fat Bottom Brewery and we had a blast! We are always exploring different locations and experiences around town and the staff at this location made the experience extra special! Shout out to Kelsey K., Bryce, Rebecca, Sean & Kimmy! Can’t wait to return!

Google
This place literally has it all. Every thing we ate and drank was phenomenal! The best part was the staff. Makayla, Lauren and Sean were so kind and made the overall experience a 10/10 experience. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Google
Wow terrible experience trying to sit down eat drink / eat at this restaurant. We arrived at 8pm july 18th. The host (male with a big afro) outside handed us menus and told us to sit wherever we like, someone will be by to take our order. 20 minutes later... no waiter. Other table infront of us a waiter is serving customers and the server is avoiding us. I went back to the host to let him know we were still waiting. He said, OK and walked off. I was so confused but thought he was handling it. 10 minutes later we were still not served so we left, and told that same server on the way out that we were unhappy we wasted our time. His response shocked me, he gave us that same OK have a good night. No apology or attempt to save our business. This seemed like a great place and Im so disappointed. The wife was pissed beyond repair and I couldn't get her to move to the bar, not that I should have to.

Took my Singles Meet Up group here today and we had fun!!! Yard games, good food, and good drinks!!! Great staff!!

Google
Gleeful Meeple hosted a really fun game night at Fat Bottom Brewing. It was the perfect venue since they had a private room for everyone. For drinks we ordered the Bravazzi Blood Orange Hard Soda and the Blackberry hug. The drinks were both good, but I would definitely be curious to try something different next time. We also got the fries platter which came with regular fries, sweet potato fries, and tater tots. There is also pretty easy parking outside which is very helpful!

Google
Lauren, Makayla, and Sean were fantastic! They were attentive and guided us through the many options of beer. We extended our stop and ended up trying a lot of things on the menu. All the food was amazing and I WILL be thinking about the cookie dough egg rolls.

Google
We had a fantastic experience at Fat Bottom Brewery in Nashville! The atmosphere was inviting and family-friendly, making it a great spot for everyone. Our server, Amy, was exceptional. She was incredibly patient and quick with our order, ensuring we had everything we needed. Her suggestions were spot on and really enhanced our dining experience. The food and drinks were delicious, and we can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I came during a Tuesday and a beautiful spring day where I was sitting out in their massive patio area. The parking is pretty easy since they have a designated lot and with this location being in the Nations there is tons of street parking within the neighborhood. When sitting outside in the patio area you are able to scan a QR code and order from your phone and checkout via your phone. This is awesome way to not leave the table and still get great service. As a girl that does not drink beers I was very excited that this brewery sells bravazzi an Italian hard soda - I was in heaven. I have not had their food but heard great reviews, will be back to try it myself!

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. Came in for a quick stop as I was leaving town. Picked up lunch and a cold beer. I ordered the Summer Tropical Blonde. Refreshing. Great flavors. Loved it. I had the BLT for lunch. You can never go wrong with a good BLT. The customer service was friendly and courteous. Really pleasant during my stop. Only recommendation get stickers for the brewery. I like to collect stickers for every brewery I visit, they did not have any when I visited. Overall, good location and look forward to heading back.

Yelp
Fat Bottom Brewing is a great brewery with lots after ambiance and a great selection of craft beer. The staff here is very professional and friendly. I would definitely recommend this brewery.

Yelp
Somehow haven't made it to Fat Bottom and not sure why not. Beers are good, service is fast and friendly, there's an arcade, and even a happy hour! Found a couple beers I really liked after two flights and had some pleasantly surprising awesome wings (crispy, a little charred in a good way). Definitely coming back! Happy hour (as of Jan 2024): M-F 4-6p - 2 for 1 drafts - $9 flights - $15 Music City Light pitchers - $20 all other pitchers - $20 Bravazzi (hard soda) carafes - $8-9 wines

Yelp
Went there for breakfast at their airport location. Had a very "regular" breakfast-scrambled eggs, potatoes, and chorizo. All was delicious, and got the appropriate amount of attention for service. The airport was very empty, so no problem getting attention from the wait staff. I'll go there again if I fly out of those gates.

Yelp
many thanks to Fat Bottom great place, the beer is great, the staff is wonderful. Live this place cannot express my thanks enough for the epic food.

Yelp
Excellent service and food. Highly recommend the Bravosa! Had a beef tenderloin with a peppercorn aujuas .

Pam H.

Yelp
Sunday Brunch was fabulous! Every item on the buffet delicious and the atomosphere was lovely. The outside patio is a plus I will be back bringing out of town guests!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Their sour and dark/roasty flight was a cool way to sample their brews, and the wings were seriously finger-lickin' good. If you're into craft beer and tasty bites, this spot is a must-visit! Plenty of parking too Happy hour M-F 4-6p Flights $9 four 5oz pours Music city light pitcher $20 All other draft pitchers $20
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
Had a great Sunday brunch here! We enjoyed all the food options (the bacon was excellent, as was my made to order omelet and the salad station). Prices were reasonable and the service was excellent! Everyone was very accommodating of our group (and our children). I was a little unclear what beverages were included in the buffet pricing so maybe the menu should reflect that for clarity. Otherwise it was a wonderful experience and we will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Everything about this place is amazing. The staff are so kind and sweet. We go for trivia and the food is always out so fast and delicious. This is a must for a great beer and amazing bites. They have an area where you can actually see them brewing the beer and it's so delish.

Steve O.

Yelp
Went to the satellite location at the Nashville airport and it was not a good experience. Mind you, we were to catch a flight and most all the other restaurant at BNA are good about getting people in and out quickly. But this location did not have that sense of urgency (could not get anyone to wait on us and it took a long time to get our food). And, they forgot to make my meal, so I had to share my wife's sandwich.
google avatar

Yelp
DELICIOUS. Seriously, you're going to want to order more than a basket. Can't wait to try more food here. Get to the Happy Hour--4-6 for buy one get one beers

Yelp
Fat Bottom Brewing is a local Nashville born and brewed Brewery that features a full service tap room, amazing outdoor space and rentable event space...all located in The Nations! We popped in on a Thursday night for a quick beer and dinner, and to our surprise this was trivia night, so the taproom was packed with a lively crowd battling it out for trivia supremacy. Since we showed up too late, we grabbed a high-top at the top of the ramp near the arcade games, which was close enough to still pretend to participate, but far enough away to not pay super close attention. Beer wise they brew all the classics from a Red Ale, Pale Ale, Nitro Stout, IPA to Blonde Ale, which happens to be my go-to...the ole Sandy Blonde Ale! But additionally, they also do specialty and seasonal beers including a pumkin ale! While we don't always eat when we come by, this evening we did. Their food menu is standard American fare, but is pretty large for a taproom. We have had a few of the appetizers with the pretzels and beer cheese being a favorite. This latest trip found us both getting chicken sammies...one fried and the other grilled. I decided against the "hot" this time and I wish I wouldn't have, as the fried chicken sandwich was extra bland without the seasoning. Tender and crispy, yes...flavorful, no. Lesson learned. The tots were on point though. Service is usually pretty solid with no issues. Parking can be a struggle if you are looking to do the taproom and they have an event going on as the dedicated lot fills up quick. Luckily, the area has a lot of street parking, but be prepared to walk a block or two. Overall, we enjoy Fat Bottom and will certainly be back!

Yelp
Came for the Sunday Brunch Buffet and was very impressed. Had one of the best omelettes I've ever had. Delicious food and drinks and very friendly staff. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Not dog friendly other than outside. Given an attitude at the front door when they saw our dog. No service in the outdoor area so we were given a hard time when one person had to go in and order two beers. Had to show two IDs and the bartender was not that friendly. If you have a dog, know all this before you drive across town as a tourist to a supposed dog friendly place.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
This is the best place to grab a beer on the patio with some friends and your dog. They have a full menu and great beers. Vibes: Plenty of seating inside and out. Your can play corn-hole, and they have picnic tables outside, so you can bring your puppy pals with you. Beers: Awesome beers, but I wish they had more on variety on rotation. I'd like to see more experimental stuff since we're local and visit a lot. Nothing they make is really a unique style to Fat Bottom. Food: This is why I docked it a star, the food is just okay. If you get a burger with sauce, ask for the sauce on the side so you can add more to your burger. See Exhibit A pic... It's an okay option if you're out for beers and need something to eat while you're there. But, I don't come here for just the food. Service: Amazing as always. They were friendly and willing to answer our questions.

Yelp
Overall: A must go in Nashville! Excellent food, perfectly crafted drinks, and good service! Food: The absolute best shrimp tacos and sangria I have ever had. My dining partner noted that this was his new favorite restaurant of all time. Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I am not a fan of French fries, but after trying them here- I'm hooked! We are new to the area and will definitely be back. Service: For a Friday night in Nashville, we were shocked to have no wait! Our server was great. We felt "left hanging" at times but, again, this was a Friday night in Nashville and we sat upstairs on the deck. No problem for us! EDIT: I first tried this place on Friday. I could only keep myself away until Sunday before going back! Same order with the addition of the chocolate chip egg rolls. I was initially going for the brownie sundae, but it was unavailable; I was very skeptical at first, BUT 10/10!!! So surprising! The filling is like cookie dough.
google avatar

Alyssa M.

Yelp
Upon arrival, you see the patio which is large, dog friendly, and has cornhole boards. Walking into the door, they have a whole merch wall with some pretty cool designs. They also have a vending machine of rubber ducks which is awesome. For the food, the brisket mac and cheese was honestly a 6/10. The brisket was real dry, but the noodles somewhat made up for it. Wouldn't order it again though. The cider I must say was delicious. I would order that again no doubt. I would probably return here, next time order a few appetizers and ciders and play some cornhole.

Yelp
The Reserve at Fat Bottom Brewery Best buffet brunch in Nashville!! Love the ambience of the event space especially the doors that open to the outside. The waitstaff were excellent fast & efficient. Everything you could want for breakfast, omelette station to grits, sausage, gravy, and biscuits. Plus salad & carving stations and a bar...so many options! There were also some alternative menu and specialty drinks menu. Still dreaming about the bacon, literally melt in your mouth, must try! Chocolate fountain & the waffles with hot syrup, butter, and house made whipped cream & house made coffee cake. Great for everybody friends, groups & families. Well done in every respect, reminiscent of the brunch buffets in NY. Service food and ambience all five star.

Yelp
We were in town and decided to stop here on Yelp's recommendation and neither of us had ever been here before. It was well worth a stop, and we will be back. The atmosphere is chill with an outside patio that feels like you are in someone's backyard. It is a very comfortable place to sit for a while, chat with friends, and enjoy a good beer. The service was excellent. The waitresses working when we were there were all extremely friendly and eager to help. I am not much of a beer drinker, so I often have trouble finding something to drink at a brewery. However, my waitress recommended I try the Bravazzi hard Italian sodas. They are excellent! I had a peach, and I absolutely loved it. My beer loving boyfriend tried a few of their offerings, including the Sandy blonde ale, and said they were all really good. The food is good, but not great. The pretzels & beer cheese came highly recommended both on Yelp and by our server. So, we had to try them. They were well worth it and I definitely recommend those. My boyfriend got a burger which he said was "a good burger". I just got a side Cesar salad and side macaroni and cheese. The macaroni and cheese is excellent...it's made with their homemade beer cheese (which also comes with the pretzels and is yummy). I loved it and wish it came in a bigger size. I would eat that for an entire meal. the Caesar salad was just OK. We also got an order of the cookie dough eggrolls. They were good but not my favorite. The eggroll wrapper was a little thick. I wish that they had used a thinner wrapper. The filling was excellent, though. Overall, we had an excellent time, and will definitely be back when we're in town again!

Yelp
Very kid friendly patio area. Our kids (aged 11/9/9/7) played giant jenga and bags while we sat at a nearby picnic table. I ordered the nashville hot chicken sandwich, and it was amazing. I enjoyed their Hazel Hazy IPA as well. Would highly recommend!
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
Such a great time when we did a guys trip to Nashville. For being a brewery, their food was as awesome as their beers! Our Airbnb was right across the street. Money well spent.
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
I will start by saying the pretzel and beer cheese - like everyone else says - is delicious. The cheese is something I would want to bottle and spread on every dish - which I tried to do. Warm pretzels with a mustard sauce and a side of cheese sauce. I would order this again and again. For dinner - my husband got the Chipotle Chicken wrap - which he thought was just okay. I got the Italian Beef - which I thought was a little dry. I didn't get it dipped completely but I thought a little au jus on the side would have been nice. But I used the cheese sauce for the latter half the next day and it was better. We tried two of their mixed drinks - but thought both were a little watered down - so would stick to beer / wine next time. It has an excellent outdoor and is extremely family / dog friendly that on a warm day, I would go back.
google avatar

Kaira R.

Yelp
It was a very interesting experience our waitress was very nice. But the other person working the patio area he was being rude. We decided to play jenga and he comes up to us and tells us oh you can break the glasses. I don't know but he seemed bothered by our presence. It gets better then we asked him where the restrooms are located and he proceeded to tell us " you can all pee on the floor of the patio" and laughs i don't know if he taught his joke was funny but we didn't. Honestly it was a very uncomfortable experience. Do better!
google avatar

Geoff C.

Yelp
Fun bar/restaurant lots of good food and the service was great. Plenty of stuff to keep yourself occupied if you drink outside.
google avatar

Yelp
A guys trip to Nashville lead us to Fat Bottom for a quick snack and a few beers to watch some Sunday football. Colin's service at the bar was personable, prompt and came with spot on recommendations.
google avatar

Paul R.

Yelp
We visited here with a small group doing a brew and distillery tour. The FB folks accommodated us by opening early. We were provided with a flight of their most popular brews. Our bartender/guide provided a comprehensive explanation of each tasting. Our Favs were their amber, dry-hopped IPA (serious hoppy), and a west coast IPA (typical citrus flavors). We were also provided with generous samples of additional brews. My favorite was their stout. It drank more like a brown ale than a typical stout. The brewery is very spacious and there is a patio if you prefer quaffing in the wild. There are food options, check out the other reviews. If you are staying downtown it's an inexpensive ride-share to this neighborhood pub. Pro tip: Right up the street is the Pennington distillery. Great folks producing top-shelf bourbon, rye, and vodka.

Yelp
Great place for beers after work. Food and service is good too. Brisket sandwich was delicious

Yelp
You can find Fat Bottom Brewing at 800 44th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37209 in The Nations. This is a largish taproom with an open patio and event space to the right - I manage to park along the right side and crash whatever event was happening as I made my way over to the brewery. As already mentioned, this is a large brewery with a big taproom - it was also very noisy. We went in and managed to snag a table and I took a look at the beer menu. Unfortunately pretty much all the beer I wanted to try was crossed off the list (three of 18 gone). We had already eaten so I ended up buying one beer and we left. Service was slow to deliver - we were at a table instead of at the bar as is my usual modus operandi. The beer: Wallflower Spring Saison 4/5 - Fairly competent saison with low bitterness, a hint of spice and a brilliant hue. I am a sucker for prickly pear! The place at the time had an odd vibe to it - just not very welcoming - not quite sure why. In any case we were in-and-out in 30 minutes.

Lisa K.

Yelp
I loved the food options, the chef, presentation, staff and atmosphere. My friends and I had a great experience and will be back.

Yelp
We dined here for Sunday brunch. Our 1st time here! The food was good. The service was excellent! Everyone was very nice and made sure we had what we needed while dining. It was a nice space to dine. I will definitely be back for another meal!

Yelp
By far the best brunch we've had in a long time. A hidden gem! Will definitely be back and recommend. Service was amazing. A win-win! So good! Great setting as well.

Yelp
Haven't been here in awhile and stopped in on a freezing Saturday morning. Only a few people grabbing lunch. Staff was fantastic and provided some great recommendations. We were hungry and completely forgot to take a pics of the food.‍ We started off the the soft pretzel, which was fantastic. Bigger fan of the mustard over their beer cheese. We shared a burger, which was cooked perfectly and delicious. Doesn't look it, but burger is pretty dense. Fries were fantastic. Our little enjoyed his grilled cheese and fries. If you have a picky kiddo (like I do) - fries have pepper on them, so just request unseasoned. Beers were fantastic and big fans of the Port that tastes like hot cocoa! It was amazing and wish I could take it home. Great experience overall!

Yelp
Good beer with plenty of places to hang out. I didn't try the food, but the Ruby is is cold and smooth.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere, bartenders are friendly, and the beer was great. I didn't have to break the bank either!

Yelp
When trying to decide where we should end our first night in Nashville, we made the decision to go to Fat Bottom Brewing over other locations because well, the name cracked us up. Yes, sometimes it is that simple. When we got there, we were also greeted by hilarious beer names. Perfect! As we were there at the very end of the night, we pretty much had the place to ourselves and were able to chat with the beertenders about the place which we love. Unfortunately, during our visit they were out of stickers that I like to collect at the different breweries we go to but after our visit as a anniversary gift I decided to order Ben a t-shirt from Fat Bottom and the customer service was so wonderful that I was able to make a special request for a sticker to be sent along with the shirt. It was actually overlooked at first, but they reached out to me directly to advise of the oversight and let me know they mailed them out separately. That is what amazing customer service is all about! On our flight we got 2 Hop Shakur West Coast IPA, Granddad's Pajamas Nitro, Its Pronounced Gose and Acme - Rooster Brew.

Yelp
We saw this place featured on a Netflix show called Marriage or Mortgage recently and thought is was really cute and decided to check it out while in Nashville. Let me just say that this was our very first stop when in Nashville and it was not pleasant at all!!! We landed early and navigated there from the airport. We got there right at opening and the staff was horrible. The waitress was the rudest person. You could clearly see she was not in a good mood. We sat ourselves (outside). The bartender had to come get drink and food orders. I know it was opening hour and early (11:00am) but they were not pleasant and would never go there again. Just terrible service and the first impression of Nashville. Hope the rest of our trip is better.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
One of my favorite breweries. Great selection of beer and the food is tasty as well. Great outdoor and indoor space.

Mari T.

Yelp
Good vibes, but way, WAY overpriced for food. Paid $19 for 5 pretzel sticks with tax and tip, small plate of brussel sprouts is almost $20.... do with that information what you will. Centennial down the street has excellent bar food for half the price.
google avatar

Marshall W.

Yelp
I drug in pretty late yesterday and these guys were on it. Excellent beer, really kind servers and staff that were happy and upbeat. I went to 4 breweries in the last 2 days and these guys were #1. I got the patty melt and one of the IPAs on draft. Both were stellar. Definitely going to be a regular spot for me when in Nashville. I'd give them 6 stars if I could.
google avatar

Jeremy C.

Yelp
I originally came here during the weekend when The Mac Shack made their debut as part of FBB. For my original trip, I got the Memphis Mac, which had Memphis style bbq pork and coke slaw with their Brussels sprouts app. My second trip, I got the pesto mac which of course had pesto, sun dried tomatoes, and goat cheese. Both were VERY good options! As for my drinks, I went with a Southside cocktail made with gin, mint, lime, and bitters as well as their IDA Golden Ale. VERY good Mac and cheese and well worth the price!! A great place to hang out with friends on the weekends and perfect as a cheat meal
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
Can't think of a better place to enjoy great beer and great food outdoors. Love bringing our dog with us to enjoy the vibes.
google avatar

Annette I.

Yelp
The food was bland and the server didn't really come to table to take orders add more seasoning to fried chicken sandwich other than that the atmosphere is good and chill wouldn't eat there again

Tyler W.

Yelp
Tasty burger-best I've had for burger week so far. UNFORTUNATELY they asked if I'd like to add a side of fries since it doesn't come with any - no problem. Paid for my meal and they charged me $8 for a side of fries? Why is a side of fries $8. That's a dollar more than the burger I ordered lol. Feeling kinda hustled
google avatar

Kevin B.

Yelp
This is a fun brewery with a nice atmosphere. My wife and I came here back in July for the Nashville burger week and we enjoyed our meal. The burgers were cooked well and the tots were a good compliment to the meal. The flight we got was just okay, but the barrel-aged beers I've had previously were better. We only came here the one time, but it's worth a stop if you're in the area and are looking for a place to eat with fresh beer on tap.
google avatar

Casey I.

Yelp
Such a great spot! The outdoor area was a little chaotic with an event that was being thrown, but the staff seemed to be handling it well! I loved my flighr--all hit, no skips! I like the space itself and how it's tucked away in the nations too!
google avatar

Honnah B.

Yelp
Brand new menu and brunch menu are incredible!! $5 mimosas, bloody Mary's and beermosas too!

Yelp
Yes to Fat Bottom Brewing! From their beer, to their outside space, to their kind staff, you all are doing it right! We popped in here on a Saturday night and got seated right away. We would have sat outside because the space was so welcoming but it was actually chilly and rainy on the day we visited so we grabbed a high top inside. The day we stopped in, there was actually a wedding upstairs (I think- correct me) but we saw people all dressed up with cards heading upstairs. Anyway- that's pretty cool if they do weddings and special events because the atmosphere was a lot of fun. I have to say their ordering system was seamless. Using the QR code on the table, we were able to order everything right there online and they brought it out so quickly to our table. I ordered a flight of beer and my husband grabbed a few beers. Our favorite was Ida- the golden ale. It was crisp and light and overall had a great taste. We got the corn to start which came with an aioli and crumbled feta on top. Okay, this aioli I ended up dunking my tots in because it was that good. It was creamy and just loaded with flavor. We also ordered the Fat Bottom burgers which came with the tots and another incredible sauce. Omgggg. The burger was cooked perfectly, the tots were also cooked just right, and the sauce on the side elevated it. Their apparel/shopping section was full of some goodies. From t-shirts to koozies and more, there was a bunch to choose from and it was well stocked. We took home a fun tin sign and a few shirts. Overall, the service here is great, everyone we encountered was professional and welcoming, and you can't go wrong with the food & drinks. Can't wait to come back when we're in the area again!

Yelp
This space is a perfect hang out or study spot with lounging couches upstairs, bar tables downstairs, and outdoor seating with cornhole. I really love their beer battered fries and haven't had a beer there I don't like. Especially love the Bertha oatmeal nitro stout. Last time I had their fish n' chips which were nicely seasoned and battered to perfection. 10/10.
