Very unique and interesting place. Several interesting food choices. Lots of selection. The whole place was very clean, even the bathroom. The inside was a bit noisy for us, but the patio outdoor seating was great. Our waiter seemed to be kind of new, but was super friendly and helpful.

I was in town for work and stumbled upon this hidden gem on Google—what a find! Everything is locally sourced and truly farm-to-table, which was evident in every bite and sip. Kat and the other bartender (whose name unfortunately escapes me) were exceptional—welcoming, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about sharing the story behind their ingredients. The food was outstanding, the service top-notch, and the atmosphere incredibly cool. Trust me, this is a spot you don’t want to miss—you’ll thank me later 😉

Google
Very good! In from Houston on business. My server Andrew was fantastic. The chicken breast was delicious and the truffle fries. I’d give the brussels 3/5, the lemon tart was sooo yummy! It’s hard to find nice restaurants in the Shreveport area, so this was a treat. This is where I will come from now on.

Google
Absolutely amazing! The food was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented — every bite was unforgettable. The ambiance is warm and inviting, the perfect mix of stylish and comfortable. The staff made the experience even better with their friendly smiles and attentive service, and our waiter, Max, was phenomenal. Truly a gem — can’t wait to come back!

Google
First visit last night. Amazing cocktails, amazing focaccia appetizer, and amazing entrees. I had the Ember Carrots (an appetizer) and the Roasted Tomato Soup (a special), and they were {{chef's kiss}}. The Pecan Custard Tart was good but would be better served warm. We sat inside at the bar and really appreciated the friendly, responsive professionalism of the bartenders Connor and Cat (hope I spelled those correctly). All the staff were friendly and professional, attentive and responsive. The building and its available dining space are small. This contributes positively to the cozy ambiance, but it is also why one MUST make a reservation. This is not the kind of place that can take walk-ins. There's not enough convenient parking. Street parking is available but not exactly friendly. I recognize that's limitation of the property and the area so it's not really a criticism - more an observation. While this is not an issue for me, it is worth noting that the restaurant is not super accessible-friendly. Limited convenient parking, narrow walking spaces within the building itself, not-exactly-convenient toilet access if you choose to sit on the outside patio - not exactly wheelchair or mobility-aid friendly. That critique notwithstanding, our experience otherwise was super positive. We plan to return, and we look forward to our next visit!

Google
The staff was so kind and attentive. We were seated in the mosaic room, which was much better for carrying conversation than many of their other tables. The food was all amazing! We will absolutely be return customers. Fat Calf was such a great restaurant at which to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary.

Google
Wonderful so far, I tried the burger which so many reviews recommended, and my wife was noting how many were being served while we were waiting, really popular and now I know why! She had steak and frites, which was perfectly cooked and tasted great! Now waiting for our dessert, clafoutis, with already high expectations!

Google
Exceptional exceptional exceptional, the drinks, the food, the ambiance absolute perfection. Had the short rib and was not disappointed. Properly braised and so tender I used my spoon to cut it! Recommend drinks - Valckenberg, Pepperalla. Recommended dish - slow braised short rib and steak & frites -

Yelp
SOOO Delicious I read the other reviews here on yelp and they were all true. Our Dinner was FABULOUS! We were in town just for 2 nights and I am SO happy we tried. We had Brussel Sprouts the Short Rib French Onion Soup and Salad and were pleased with all. Service was Superb!

Yelp
Neat little restaurant. Excellent craft cocktails, and a great staff (we sat at the bar). Had both the salmon tartare and the steak tartare. If we're ever back in Shreveport, we'll come again.

Yelp
Second time we've been here and the consistency is key. Service is fantastic and every single dish they produce is a flavor explosion. The yeast rolls are perfect little pillows. Before you say you don't like Brussel sprouts, you've never had them like this. Every single aspect of the dish works beautifully and I could eat this alone as a meal. Take advantage of the Social Hour! We saved a little room for dessert and the Meyer lemon tart was what dreams are made of! Tart, creamy, slightly sweet-it hits every tastebud. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Yum! The reviews don't lie. I started with the French Onion Soup, tomatoes au gratin, and Automon Canard cocktail. Everything was great. The soup was incredibly rich and had a bite that tasted like horseradish. The drink was cozy and the tomatoes were bright and flavorful. For my entree I had the short ribs. The ribs were on the fatty side but still good. I liked the gnocchi; the rapini was not my favorite. Service was friendly and efficient, prices were in line for a restaurant with these types of dishes.

Yelp
A Shreveport gem with exemplary food, service, and atmosphere. Every dish was high quality and artfully crafted. It was my first time having Gazpacho ($18) and it was a tart, multi-dimensional, silky delight. My friend said the NY Strip ($52 for 10 oz) was amongst the best steaks he had ever had. Burger ($18) looked incredible. And who knew Cauliflower ($18) could be so delicious? I loved our waitress, I wish we got her name. Classy, date night worthy ambience.

Yelp
We came I'm for dinner and really enjoyed the ambiance, wonderful customer service and food. Our server was Walker. He was attentive, friendly and fun. We ordered the Brussel Sprouts, truffle fries , French onion soup, shrimp and gritts and braised. Definitely get the delicious Brussel Sprouts, truffle fries were not bad, the French onion was delicious but more on the sweet side, the shrimp and gritty were just okay and the braised ribs were very tender, flavorful and yummy. Over all great classy experience.

Yelp
Fat Calf Brasserie never fails to impress. The ambiance, service, and cuisine are worth the trip. This was our second time dining there, and each dish was beautifully plated and just as delicious as the first time. My husband and I shamed ourselves since we don't get to Shreveport often, and so we shared the escargot and the duo of cheeses appetizers. We have had escargot at a number of restaurants, but Fat Calf's was by far superior. They were tender, and the sauce under the puff pastry was garlicky and not overly rich. The duo of cheeses, on the other hand, was decadent. Warm Brie topped with berry chutney alongside a whipped ricotta was divine on the buttered toast. The arugula and prosciutto was a nice accompaniment to the cheeses. Because we have no sense, we also had the soup/salad course. Don't do that. Although absolutely worth ordering, the French onion soup comes in a large crock and is topped with toasty bread and Gruyère. Worth getting if you didn't already share two appetizers and plan on dinner too. The burrata and persimmon salad was fresh and fruity, and also worth getting if you didn't already stuff yourself silly. Our entrees included the smoked thick cut pork chop over cauliflower purée with roasted garnet carrots, and the shrimp and grits with andouille and crab. Both dishes were prepared as requested/described, and could not have been more delicious. We would absolutely order both again. I should not neglect to mention the cocktails at Fat Calf's. The seasonal offering, Cider Does It, was a tequila concoction that smelled like all your favorite Christmas memories. It set the perfect tone for a great night out. Probably is responsible for our over ordering the rest of the night! We were too stuffed to enjoy dessert, but we ordered it anyway. The butterscotch pot du crème wasn't overly heavy, and was just enough for us to share so we did not have to say we chickened out and skipped dessert. To sum up, we drive in from San Antonio to Christmas with family every year, and our favorite place to eat, aside from Mom and Dad's place, is Fat Calf's.

Yelp
Truly the best in Shreveport- can't say enough wonderful things about how awesome the food, service and ambiance was above and beyond!
google avatar

Hannahmarie O.

Yelp
Everything we had was delicious. My greatest regret is that I didn't dine at Fat Calf sooner during my travels to Shreveport. The ambiance, lighting, music, and service was wonderful and I've recommended this restaurant to numerous people since my visit. I didn't take a picture of the French onion soup, but trust me, it is worth ordering!

Yelp
I came to Fat Calf before I even moved to Shreveport, and it was honestly a deciding factor in my decision to move here. I love this place! The food is seriously the best in town. I love the truffle fries and Brussel sprouts. And their French Onion Soup is to die for. They have a great menu. The service is always spectacular. I also like the fact that you can reserve a table or the bar area in advance on their website. They have a great patio area as well. Parking can be tight in the lot. But there are street option in the neighborhood. You have to check this place out!

Yelp
Again fantastic experience start to finish. Had mussels fantastic but served with fries which just doesn't go. Stick to bread so we can soak the broth please. escargot. Was good. Had the pork schnitzel which I enjoyed. Ended with pecan custard tart which was good but too rich and sweet to eat by yourself. Drinks in the zone and can't recall other were great. Just they do all things great here and impressive to be consistent.

Patrick D.

Yelp
Service was amazing. Food and drinks were fantastic. The atmosphere was very laid back. Cannot say enough good things about the entire staff.

Yelp
I cannot say enough good things about this place! Couldn't get in on Valentine's Day so I made a reservation for the day after. We ordered Bobbin for Apples cocktails, Vol-a-vent d'escargots, Mussels, the Crispy Duck and the Lamb t-bones. We finished with the pot d'creme. All in all, everything was absolutely delicious! The service was immaculate and the restaurant is absolutely beautiful! This is the best place to dine in Shreveport.

Yelp
Have been coming here since they opened. Wife and I enjoy coming here for regular date nights and had not been since they changed the menu. We had a late reservation at the bar and the servers were more than accommodating. Started with cheese platter for the wife and I had the French onion soup that hit the spot on a chilly night. Then we had some libations that are always tasty (old fashions and martinis hit the spot.) For mains we had lamb t bones ordered well but came medium only critique and I had the pork schnitzel that was cooked well and very tasty. Would have enjoyed the dish more but the veggies were all pretty cold. The couple next to us raved about the bread pudding will have to try next time. Great spot!

Yelp
Fat Calf is without a doubt my favorite restaurant in the Shreveport area. I've visited them multiple times, and every single time the food and service has been exceptional! The restaurant is very cozy and has a clean and classy but relaxing vibe. I would recommend Fat Calf to anyone in or visiting our city!

Yelp
Stopped in for Happy Hour and left surprisingly full after just two appetizers. The French Onion Soup and Babaganoush were excellent as was the service. Will return!

Angela O.

Yelp
Absolutely love their happy hour! Chickpea frites and a margarita for $16 & the frites were amazing & surprising. We also had the lavender dessert that was light and fluffy and delicious. The artwork is vibrant, the place small yet has room for so many. Our bartenders worked in tandem and gave great recommendations and knew the menu as expected. We will be back!

Dawn J.

Yelp
This restaurant was a pleasant surprise! I started with the Burlesque cocktail and loved the delicious fig puree. My husband had a pear based cocktail that was equally as good. By far, STAR of my night, was the roasted tomatoes appetizer and could have had 2 orders of that as my meal. However, I ordered the short ribs and they were tender and fall-apart yummy. Ended the night with a creamy butterscotch pudding that was not overly sweet or too sugary. I do not eat at chain restaurants and appreciate the use of whole ingredients: I saw fresh juice being squeezed for drinks, careful attention to plating and could easily tell that no processed or inferior products were used in the entrees. Kudos to you Fat Cat!! I can't say that I would ever return to Shreveport but you certainly added a silver lining!

Yelp
Best restaurant in Louisiana. We're from Baton Rouge and we love this place so much. Everything on the menu is unique and amazing. Our favorite part is that the menu changes with the seasons. As well as the amazing cocktails! We come like every other week when we are in town. We will forever keep comping back to this place to try new things! Also the service is exceptional. Everything about this place is 5 star.
google avatar

Dan V.

Yelp
Food and service was exceptional, there's nothing like it in the SBC. Definitely one of my favorites and is a must visit.

Sonya G.

Yelp
Food is fantastic, but am I the only one that doesn't feel like this is a safe area of town?

Lori H.

Yelp
Perfect Mocktails! Diverse menu. Cozy atmosphere. I loved the taste palettes on the appetizer menu. We definitely ended with desserts----do not miss the Lemon Brûlée

Gamaliel V.

Yelp
The food was very impressive and the service impeccable. I asked if there were any fall flavored drinks and the staff made me a custom pumpkin flavored drink even allowing me to try three separate rums to choose for the drink. The ambience was very nice and homey. This place definitely beat out most if not all restaurants we've been to in the Shreveport-bossier area. Immediate favorite and we will be back for sure

Yelp
I visited this restaurant for my father's birthday dinner. We were placed in a separate area that was really personable. We had two infants so it was nice to have some privacy. I really enjoyed the Brussel sprouts appetizer. It was SO GOOD AND FULL OF FLAVOR. we shared a few orders around the table. I was so excited that I thought my entree would be just as good but I think it was hyped a little too much. I had the lamb chops and they were not seasoned well. They really tried but it had a different flavor to it. Their potatoes were good but the main event just didn't do I for me. I ended up eating some of my kids chicken and it wasn't bad. Other enjoyed their food so maybe it was just a bad day for lamb. ‍

Abby J.

Yelp
Well, where do I begin? The crispy brussels sprouts were amazing. And the Wagyu Burger.... The best burger I've had in my entire life? Be sure to sub truffle fries, and to ask for MAX!

Barbara M.

Yelp
Just had a wonderful meal at Fat Calf. Hard to get a reservation on weekends but got a nice table mid week. Service and food were great. We had the shrimp and grits and steak and frites... both delish. Steak was fabulous with a really nice sauce. Shrimp and grits are so good but rich. Couldn't go for dessert! Have to say the service and staff are always nice. If you can get in it's definite worth a visit.! We will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Another fantastic meal. I inhaled the duck entree so there is not a picture ‍ but here is dessert, Nutella pot'd'creme. Amazing.
google avatar

Rachell S.

Yelp
Nothing short of an amazing treat! Super pleased. Everything we ordered was amazing honestly. The Only thing we didn't like very much was the strawberry and Rhubarb pie but that could be because we expected a traditional dessert.

Kenyon H.

Yelp
Always an incredible dining experience. The atmosphere, the staff, and of course the food is always TOP NOTCH!
google avatar

Gabrielle C.

Yelp
This place was the cutest! Very cozy. We sat inside but they also had an outdoor patio with heaters. Reservations are recommended but my friend and I went early and were able to be seated quickly with no problems! Food was amazing! We had the Brussel sprouts, truffle fries, and we each had a mushroom soup! Everything was tasty! Service was amazing! Will definitely be back!

Yelp
My family and I have been to Fat Calf many times since moving to Shreveport two years ago. We love the ambiance of the fun patio scene, but have also enjoyed evenings inside people watching those at the bar and soaking in the air condition when the summers get hot. We went tonight to celebrate Mother's Day and try the new spring menu. We've had our eye on a few of the appetizers that are vegetable forward and trying the exciting new additions to the entrees. We were not disappointed! Our favorite tonight we're the Roasted Carrot Hummus (it was fun to eat!), the Crispy Striped Bass (the salad off to the side was the perfect amount of tang), and dessert was the perfect size! Service was, and is always, excellent. We had Andrew tonight and he's always on top of everything and very kind. They every remembered my family, had a high chair waiting for our son, and we're excited to comment on how big he has gotten. It was a wonderful night. Thanks Fat Calf!

Yelp
As always, Fat Calf never disappoints!! Love sitting at the bar. Thanks once again for an incredible dining experience. Best food, best drinks, best service!

Kris O.

Yelp
What a great experience. I contacted the restaurant via FB as I was concerned whether or not my wife's food allergies would be an issues. Within an hour the owner and head chef responded with a very thoughtful response which left me pleasantly surprised. We happily made reservations to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were greeted nicely, but the host and server didn't reference the reservation (or the owner's notes) and we needed to repeat our allergy concerns. No problem, but it did detract from my expectations. We ordered some drinks, the zucchini appetizer (unable to order the burnt ends due to sesame oil), the rack of lamb, a pork shank special, and an amberjack fish special. The high prices were met with high quality food, delicious flavors, and a great ambiance (although a little cramped). The owner's mom came by our table twice to ensure everything was to our liking (very nice touch!). We finished out the experience with the rhubarb dessert (great flavor, but too soupy for my liking) and the pane cotta (fantastic). The parking lot is atrocious and small, but the quality of the food and overall experience easily wins the day. Yep, you'll be paying a hefty amount, but you're very likely to leave with memories that transcend your average dining experience. Well done. We'll see you next time.

Yelp
WOW! I've been here twice now, and both times the entire staff has blown my experience out of the water. Everything from the atmosphere to the seasonally changing menu items are all downright DIVINE! I could write a book about how tasty the appetizers are, but the pork belly burnt ends are the favorite for my family. These could be an entree because of how delicious they are. The dish has a delicious glaze that is SO flavorful. It has the perfect balance of sweetness and kick that makes you want to lick the plate clean after you finish. Next, we have the cocktails. The menu has a wide variety of options so there is something for everyone, but my personal favorite is "Mr. Pink." Like I mentioned, though, you really can't go wrong with any of the craft cocktails. And, if you don't drink, their extensive mocktail menu is nothing short of impressive. Finally, we have the entrees. Both times I have been thoroughly impressed with the options and have had such a difficult time deciding what to order, and both times I have been beyond satisfied with my decision. During my first visit, I ordered the short rib and gnocchi mac-n-cheese. I had a hard time putting my fork down once I got full because of how perfectly the flavors in the dish paired with one another. The second time around I ordered lamb with a chickpea chili on the side. The lamb was served over a bed of what I would call aromatic rice and was topped with a sweet pomegranate glaze that elevated the dish even further. I have yet to try any of the desserts because unfortunately I never have room in my stomach after the dining experience, but from how wonderful everything else tastes I have no doubt they will not disappoint. I failed to take photos of more than one dish, but I seriously cannot rave about this place enough and can't wait to go back again. If you were looking for a sign to make a reservation, this is it!

Yelp
We absolutely LOVE Fat Calf! We have been there several times. Each time the food, service, and environment is on point. We will continue to visit Fat Calf. Thank you!

Yelp
My fiancé and I had dined here a few months ago and we're not very impressed with the food/service. The owner invited us to come back to the restaurant using a special reservation link that mentioned how we would be taken care of... let's see if they did! Food: 3/5 We ordered a couple of appetizers, the escargot and the duck fried rice. The escargot was decent. As for the fried rice, the sauce they mix into the rice is overpowering, makes the dish less authentic from traditional fried rice. For entrees we ordered the pan fried chicken and lamb. The pan fried chicken was actually quite good however the lamb was not. The two small lamb shanks were on top of quinoa if I can recall. The quinoa was mixed with mint leaves. The mint leaves are so overpowering that it takes away from the enjoyment of the meal. Additionally, the plum sauce used on top of the lamb does not pair well at all with the lamb itself (which is slightly charred) in addition the the strong mint from the quinoa. Service/Experience: 2/5 Flys everywhere. As we were eating they were buzzing around us and there was even a dead fly in the window sill! It was disgusting. The service needs improvement. After completing the escargot, our appetizer plates were covered the in wine sauce. I would expect the waiter to see this and bring out new plates before serving another dish. You don't want to blend ingredients from two different dishes. I mentioned this to the waiter and he caught his mistake. When the food runner brought out my partners lamb, there's a very hot metal cast iron bowl that came with his dish which had a stew inside it. She almost tipped it over on top of him, the rim of the plate caught it from going over. Even after 10 minutes into the meal, the stew bowl was burning to the touch, more care and attention when serving next time. I'd have to say that the most disappointing part about this whole meal was the disingenuous email we received after dining which stated that Fat Calf was so happy to have us come back there for a second chance and that they were glad to see us. But the owner or manager never came out to see us or make sure the dining experience was better than the last. Looked like a standardized email and the sincerity feels fake.

Yelp
Love this place! Service and food were all awesome! The atmosphere here is chic but still casual and bright & airy. We sat outside on the deck on a little two top and had a great time! Happy hour apps and drinks are a really great deal here! Apps: Brussel sprouts were 3/5 but then again I'm not a fan to begin with. Then there were some fried risotto balls which were delish, 5/5! The pretzel w/ dip was average as well. For entrees, I've had the burger here which is delicious and was cooked perfectly! There was also an Indian inspired chicken curry dish which was great! Dessert: Butterscotch pudding and creme brûlée were both yummy desserts as well if you're a fan of of pudding-esque desserts. I would've preferred a more dense baked option... I'll definitely be back!

Carol M.

Yelp
All the food we had was delicious and the service was excellent. We sat on the outdoor patio and it was so pretty and comfortable!

Yelp
Always best to call ahead for reservations, if possible! Happy hour appetizers ... AMAZING! Great place to visit, too!!!
google avatar

Yelp
This place has incredible food and the staff is amazing. The outdoor and indoor sitting allows for a wonderful ambiance
google avatar

Monica L.

Yelp
Even without a reservation, we had a great dining experience at the Fat Calf. We arrived at 4:00 pm, and even though we still had to sit in the patio area, we got a spot in their reduced parking lot with no problem. We got the cauliflower "burnt ends," the pork belly "burnt ends," and the crispy Brussels sprouts from their $7 menu. Honestly, I couldn't decide which was my favorite because the three were equally delicious. My 7-year-old loved her slider and fries, and I loved my Rack of Lamb with chickpea risotto. The patio area was enjoyable, the music was not overwhelming, and luckily the weather was ok.
google avatar

Kitty L.

Yelp
I would have given five if it was about the food and service. I withheld due to a very messy parking process. If you can work around that this place is one of the best restaurants in Shreveport. Try this place out. It's worth it
google avatar

Anna M.

Yelp
Quaint restaurant off the beaten bath. We ate indoors but the outdoor patio looked charming as well. Most importantly the food was incredible. We had a salmon which was a special for the night, steak frites, truffle fries, and bread. It was all wonderful. The service was exceptional.
google avatar

Mi Z.

Yelp
Had the snails for the app. not bad. For dinner we had the ROASTED LEG OF LAMB and the CRISPY CONFIT DUCK LEG. The lamb was the most tender lamb I had ever had and delicious as well as the parmesan polenta. The crispy duck was crispy and I thought a nice change from the usual less than crispy skin you get with duck. The service was fast and our waitress was on point. The only negative thing I can say about our visit was the glasses of wine that we had with our meal was very minuscule. I have never had what appeared to be about 3.5-4 oz. of wine in the glass, very stingy! We did have drinks before the meal and they were both delicious, Cranberry Margarita and the Kings and Creswell. We may give it another try?

Yelp
A true gem in Shreveport...We love what your doing here. The vibe, the high quality dishes, cocktails & wine lists. But most of all the personal touches, which make a difference. It is the little things, like Amanda coming meet us during our visit on Saturday evening. Keep doing what your doing!!! We will visit every time we visit the area...

Patricia A.

Yelp
Every time my spouse comes to town - this is a must do! Start with the appetizers - all of them! The booking is easy, you never feel rushed. No matter if sitting outside in a pouring downfall or inside enjoying the AC while listening to great music and smiling at the artists rendition of a "fat calf", it is an experience we try to do monthly.
google avatar

Linda F.

Yelp
This restaurant is truly a treat! Every item we have had has been excellent! The quality of food is some of the best I have ever eaten

Yelp
Awesome staff!! We sat at the bar for dinner. The ambiance was energetic and fun. Great experience.

Yelp
We came here for the bone marrow. But, once we arrived and were seated, the bone marrow is no longer served. So we decided to just do apps and wine. The atmosphere was nice. The restaurant is in a cute little house. It was pretty cold also. But other than that, we had a pleasure visit. Our waitress was kind and helpful. I would suggest that you set reservations if you plan to visit. We got lucky someone didn't show for theirs.
