"The Barrington Oaks Chinese restaurant focuses mostly on juicy dumplings, from soup dumplings to steamed pork and chive dumplings to fried vegetable dumplings. Other items include fried rice and lo mein and Chinese-American plates like General Tso’s chicken. The menu also ventures into Japanese dishes like ramen and udon. Takeout orders can be placed online; there are indoor dine-in services." - Nadia Chaudhury

"Matthew Odam reviewed Spicewood Springs Chinese food restaurant Fat Dragon this week, and found mostly pleasurable flavors with a few stumbles. Odam said that the restaurant “delivers some of the best flavors from other styles of Chinese and Americanized Chinese cooking,” from mouth-numbing Sichuan dry pot cabbage to chocolate-filled dessert dumplings. He stayed mostly on the Chinese side of things, finding that the Chinese-American General Tso’s chicken held “nominal bites of actual meat,” while the pan-Asian items like kimchi fried rice “needed more oomph.” Odam had particularly positive things to say about fish dishes. Odam also enjoyed the miso ramen with thin slices of sous vide pork belly and the dumplings, though he noted the latter were, at times, not consistent and did not live up to the ones found at next-door restaurant Asia Market. Overall, he appreciated the “good-natured energy” of Fat Dragon." - Erin Russell

The Dan Dan noodles were not like any other Dan Dan noodles I've ever had and were very ramen-like (soupy). The pork egg rolls were delicious and fried to perfection. The chicken fried rice, perfectly seasoned tasty. Finally the spicy soup dumplings were well made and the last dish to arrive to our table. We are them very quick as they are meant to be eaten whole warm. They were yummy and soul soothing. Old school feel to the place and prices are very fair. Come hungry and leave full. The ladies restroom was not in the best condition but the food made it worth the 30 min drive.

Google
Tried Fat Dragon as delivery when my local go to place closed. I was AMAZED by the food, and the portions. This was easily 2+ meals for myself and every piece of chicken was perfect. Broccoli chicken is typically my go to and this is the best one I've had hands down. Soft, savory, with an amazing amount of sauce. Not pictured is a large container of rice that was also 2 meals worth. So tasty especially with the sauce. Cream cheese puffs were also delicious! A lovely amount of filling with the perfect crispy outside. Tried the miso & hot sour soup as well and both were delicious, and such a great portion size as well. Delicious for dipping in too. This will now be the go to place. The quality of everything was top notch. Definitely recommend checking them out or getting it delivered on a night in.

Google
Delicious food, great prize, generous portions. I like the General Tso chicken but occasionally mix it up with other chicken dishes. The cream cheese puffs and an ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE! The portions are incredible, the flavor is amazing, everywhere else over charges for the same or worse product, we go out of our way to Fat Dragon for the cream cheese puffs alone. We always take our food home though and you can order online and pick up. Also, complementary unsweetened tea while you wait and amazing to-go set up with bowls, plates, boxes, etc. I love this place!

Google
I came here because a reviewer said the vegan options were clearly marked. I didn't see anything on the paper menus on each table. but the nice book menus by the register have the dishes clearly marked with a green V. I enjoyed my vegan chinese dishes here. They were very quickly served and very delicious I asked for soft tofu(not fried) for my kung pao tofu and it was great! mu seaweed salad was very tasty as well

Google
Just checked out this Chinese spot, and it’s awesome if you’re all about great food with no BS. Definitely not your typical American-style restaurant—here, you order at the counter and pay upfront, which I actually liked. They only do food running, so no waiting around for a server to take your order. The food came out super quick, and everything tasted good. The vibe isn’t anything fancy, but it works if you’re just looking to grab a bite or pick up takeout. I tried the creamy miso ramen and orange chicken—both were solid. The orange chicken was delicious, but heads up: no veggies in sight, and it ended up being a bit too much chicken for one person. Overall, though, I had a great experience! Also don’t forget to order a scallion pancake, they were just WOW.

Google
Ordered food for pickup from Fat Dragon on 1/19 and am so disappointed. We chose this place because of the seemingly good reviews and the egg rolls that looked great. Got our food in 20 min and noticed that the heat was not on in the restaurant upon food pickup. It was 25 degrees F outside so that was odd and seemed unusual. The food appeared okay and was hot. However upon eating it we quickly found two major issues. 1. We ordered orange chicken and received general Tsos. Not a super big deal compared to our second problem. 2. In the chicken we found a long grey/black hair. GROSS! After this we were so disgusted and just couldn’t eat our food. Needless to say we will not be coming back. Save your money!

Google
Amazing food, excellent service, and very reasonably priced! First time here, came on Sunday because two of my other favorite places were closed, and this is now one of my new favorite places! So many choices for food and no way you leave here hungry.

Google
very good Chinese restaurant, but ok ramen - the broth is not richly flavored nor complex as what we had in Japan recently. The wonton soup however is spot on. The Chong Qing chicken was not deep fried like Asian Cafe next door but tasty. The cumin lamb is not intensely flavored but tasty nevertheless. Compared to Asia Cafe, the dishes are not as intensely spiced but make up for the quantity. This restaurant is served yourself with free hot tea. Highly recommended!!! edit: we ordered the wrong chicken dish last time - the dish we like is Sichuan stir fried chicken

Yelp
The BEST Chinese food in Austin! I've tried 100 of places in Texas, and the Chinese food has always been abysmal. This place is hands-down, the best. Before ordering, I looked at the yelp pictures and once I noticed the authentic homemade dumplings, I already know it was gonna be good and the food was Outstanding!

Yelp
It's been a year since we been here and the last time we were here the food was amazing. We were so excited to come back and get our favorites along with some new items but we are so saddened by our food quality and flavors. We ordered our favorite which is the shrimp eggplant but it was flavorless and too saucy. The thick sauce was a slurry corn starch and I did not care for that. Shrimp and eggplant were under seasoned. The general tso chicken and orange beef had the same slurry thick sauce, same color, and very close in flavor. Thick batter and hardly any meat in both dishes. The flavor of the orange beef was better but it was still a subpar dish. The meat was so thin I couldn't even taste it. The hot and sour soup is mostly soup and very little ingredients in it. It does not come with fried wonton for the extra crunch the soup really needed. Our other favorite was the salt and pepper shrimp but when ordered it this time the dish was overwhelming under seasoned and bland. All dishes came out hot but it seems like the chef has changed since we last visited. They now offer sushi too and had remodeled the place. You still have to self serve your water and ice and get your own plates to eat. Staff doesn't seem like the same people so I think based on that maybe something has changed. Do you recommend this place? We really liked this place but unfortunately after this dining experience we can't. I came home with a stomach ache and wasn't fond to any of the 5 dishes.

Yelp
Got takeout from here the other night and me and my boyfriend loved it! I forgot to take pictures before we stared eating because we were so hungry so please know that the portions were good. Everything we ordered was really good, I loved the dumplings and the cream cheese puffs. The sweet and sour chicken was also good and I liked that they kept the sauce separate so that it will reheat better. Our food was ready pretty quick and service was great. The restaurant was pretty empty but I think they mainly do takeout here!

Jerry R.

Yelp
Huge fan of their soups and dumplings Long time customer. Just ordered twice cooked pork to go. Got home. And I was very disappointed. The quality of the pork was horrific. Super fatty Bacon was disgusting. Be very careful when ordering. Pay full price for a meal but served really low quality proteins.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
This was our first time to check out Fat Dragon. It is located in a strip. The interior and seating is pretty basic. They have self service for drinks and utensils. However, the staff did check on us occasionally as they brought out the dishes. We came in starving and unsure what we wanted so we ordered a large variety. The miso soup was flavorful, but on the salty side so make sure you have water on standby! The dan-dan noodles were OK and also very spicy. It was a good portion size though. We got the BBQ pork buns based on Yelp reviews. They were good, but like your typical buns. The only dish that was disappointing was the Salt and Pepper Pork Ribs. We were looking forward to these, but there lots of bones in small pieces and the flavor didn't hit the mark for us. Highlights: The Singapore noodles' portion was HUGE! They were also an excellent flavor that left you wanting more and more even past the point of being overly full. Would definitely go back for these. The Hong Kong style stir fried beef steak was excellent. Another dish that was so flavorful with a hefty serving. Even delicious as leftovers! I wouldn't mind coming back here when craving Chinese food. Now that we've tried a variety of dishes, I know what I'm getting next time (looking at you Singapore noodles!)

Yelp
Just had lunch at Fat Dragon Chinese Food! Their soup dumplings were like little pockets of happiness, bursting with flavor. The egg rolls were crispy and addictive, and don't even get me started on the hot and sour soup - it was ! Service was minimal, but hey, they've got self-serve drink and utensil stations, so no biggie. Overall, Fat Dragon totally nailed it with their delicious dishes. If you're craving some awesome Chinese food, this is the spot to hit up!

Yelp
There's holes-in-wall and then there's s***holes-in-the-wall. This unacceptable place is a dirty, frozen-Chinese-food heating station under the guise of a restaurant. The restaurant screams "cost-saving measures" (including lack of sanitation). The food reeks and is clearly NOT homemade. I hated the flimsy, wasteful, sloppy disposable containers and plasticware. The xiao long bao is not fresh and doesn't come with ginger. I got creeped out by the dark, greasy fingerprints over napkin holders and tables. The floor was sticky like you'd expect in a cheap theater. Practically none of the beverages printed on the menu were available. I was too scared to use the restroom here because I was already grossed out. Possibly amongst the worst dining experiences Austin has to offer. We didn't finish our food because we would rather enjoy the rest of our vacation

Tasya N.

Yelp
I wanted to go there to eat but seeing how disgusting their bathroom is, I changed my mind

C F.

Yelp
We used to love this place. Service is okay.. Was very disappointed to find a bug in our fried rice. Please be careful and look at your food before you eat. Very concerned of the atmosphere after seeing that with our order. Sadly we won't be going back.

Pearl G.

Yelp
Buyer beware. You definitely get what you pay for. Ordered the tonkotsu, scallion pancakes, soup dumplings and the pork bao buns was pleasantly surprised when I swiped my card for around $32 bucks. I should have gotten a hint when I walked in only to find zero patrons dining. Food was wack. Nothing tasted fresh, ramen felt like it had been frozen and reheated, scallion pancakes tasted more like a flour tortilla with some scallions on it, everything was very disappointing. The place itself was drabby. I had to use the restroom but decided to hold it, didn't want a crap dining experience to be super charged with a crap rr situation. Austin has a dynamic, plethora of Asian restaurants no need to slum it here.

Julia K.

Yelp
This place has gone downhill even compared to just a few months ago. The soup dumplings are fine, but I'd argue you'd be better off going to Trader Joe's and using a steam basket at home. The service is strange and the actual restaurant is not well maintained unfortunately. If you're looking for good service, a good vibe, and AMAZING food, head to House of Three Gorges.

Dale K.

Yelp
I am sorry to say like other people that this restaurant used to be excellent and constantly busy. We ordered a noodle dish about 7 months ago after a long break andy it was horrible: drowning in oil, bad taste, seafood not fresh. I vowed not to go back but we decided recently to give it another try. Worse! The chicken was either old and therefore super hard and stringy, or else it had been fried to death and sauce was just poured on top. The other dish was a little better but not very good. It appears the ownership is different, with a different cook(s), so it is just not good food anymore. Very sad. They seemed like nice people.

Lyla A.

Yelp
Really excellent food! We just picked up. The food was ready when we showed up and packed incredibly well. We had a fairly long drive home and nothing spilled and everything stayed piping hot. Please see photos! Here's what we ordered: 1 x Original Pork Soup Dumplings (4) $7.75 - they were well executed. 1 x Mala Spicy Soup Dumplings (4) $7.75 - I'm glad I tried them. They were a slightly spicier version of the regular dumplings. 1 x Siu Mai (4) - $5.95 - the family loved these. My husband usually thinks siu mai is bland and he said these were great. 1 x Cilantro Lamb Dumplings (8) Steamed. $10.00 - these were the only thing that nobody enjoyed. They tasted like mint and the dough was very thick. I wouldn't order this dish again. 1 x Eggplant Loves Green Bean -$11.50. My kids always want eggplant and we always want green beans. This was an amazing way to get both. It was enjoyed by all! 1 x Chong Qing Mala Chicken - $13.95 - not what o expected. I thought this was the typical diced, crispy chicken with red chilis throughout. This was more of a steamed chicken with green chilis. It was not as flavorful as I would have liked but because it wasn't so spicy the whole family could eat it. I wouldn't order this again. 1 x Dry Pot Lamb - $16.95 - This was so different. Spicy with the classic Sichuan tingle and burn. It was a very large portion, filled with potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, and other veggies. It was very tasty but be warned it's spicy! 1 x Hong Kong Style Stir Fried Beef Steak - $15.95 - I didn't enjoy this dish too much. It was on the sweet side and not what I expected. It certainly wasn't bad but not my personal taste. The family liked it. It's a safe beef dish if you're trying to please a crowd. 1 x Salt and Pepper Fish Fillet - $16.95 - a very well executed version of this dish. The family really enjoyed it. The portions are plentiful and the quality is apparent. While I didn't love all of the items we ordered, I can see this place joining the rotation of our favorite Chinese places. Please like my review and photos if you find them helpful!

Yelp
Eaten here a few times and it's always a hit! Ate in person mid-November. Saw lots of people complaining about the confusion regarding paying for the food at the back of the restaurant-- this wasn't an issue for us. They also gave us regular bowls to eat out of, not the plastic to-go bowls, and everything was hot and delicious. We got the Tonkatsu and Dan Dan Noodles and I believe the Pork Belly Gua Bao. The other two times we ate here, we ordered online earlier this month (December) and ate at home. Including a screenshot of one of our orders. Would not recommend the crispy wings, it needs some type of sauce and wasn't super crispy. Thai style udon was good. Food is packaged nicely but could use instructions if you're unfamiliar with what you ordered, and there's not pictures of every item online. I would rate the Dan Dan Noodles five stars alone!!! It's just the right amount of spice without being overbearing. When we ordered online it was under the appetizers instead of entrees. But I don't feel like the size decreased and I still had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. If you're going to eat here, you must try this dish!

Moises V.

Yelp
It's a must try restaurant to go to. its a hidden gem of good food.great and friendly services!

Nadine L.

Yelp
I thought it was okay food. We bought a bunch of different stuff to go like fried rice and dumplings but the food was just okay.

Gregston C.

Yelp
low key hidden gem. Don't be fooled by the unassuming atmosphere. The food is surprisingly good and at a very reasonable price. It's not a date place but it's a no frills place to eat with family and friends. The xaio long bao/pork dumplings were very juicy, delicious and the star of the show. Counter service was patient and friendly. Lots of parking in the lot in front.

Adriana T.

Yelp
Service: The person at the counter has no personality and seems like they hate being there. The ladies that cook and bring the food are very friendly and kind. Food: it's ok. The creamy vegetarian ramen was terrible. The Singapore noodles were good. The dumplings were not great quality.

Kara D.

Yelp
The Dan Dan noodles were spicy and delicious, the pork was tasty. The pork soup dumplings were pretty good, not bad but I've definitely had better. The soup inside wasn't very hot. Overall the place was calm and relaxing, I enjoyed my food.

Heidi K.

Yelp
Pork Bao Buns - YUMMY! Soup Dumplings - YUMMIER!! Service was great! Egg rolls good too!

Henry L.

Yelp
Making our way through Austin's Chinese restaurants and Fat Dragon was next on the list. This restaurant when we went was still operating a bit under covid rules: you walk in, go to the front to order at the register, and the food will show up at your table in to-go containers, even if you're dining in. We ordered their pork soup dumplings, dan dan noodles, and the spicy mala fish filet. Their soup dumplings were really tasty with rich pork broth. The dan dan noodles were a bit tricky to eat in the containers and were decent, although not my favorite due to their choice of noodles and overall flavors. The mala fish filet was good, although not as spicy as other fish filet dishes I've had in Austin, but YMMV. Overall quantity of the food was good.

A E.

Yelp
Not great, its the presentation and the quality combined.. neither were good, but both being bad made it almost inedible. Stay away from the dumplings. 2 stars is a massive stretch.

Caitlin S.

Yelp
Was told to sit down but had to order at the counter. The food came out all at once before the drinks. It was not the best chinese I've had and my friend did not even want to take her leftovers. The staff are really nice.

Dolly N.

Yelp
Update: Finally got to try the soup dumplings and they were tasty! Definitely worth trying out when dining in. Right now, all of their food comes in to-go packaging but that makes it easy to take it back home because you will easily have leftovers. I highly recommend their cumin lamb. It was probably my favorite dish from this trip. I also think you can't go wrong with any of their fish dishes.

Emily D.

Yelp
Please do not waste your money here. I was trying this place out because I saw the menu prices weren't too bad. I wasted $24 here. This is the worst Chinese restaurant I've ever gone to in my life. The spicy sautéed pork intestines I got was so over fried it was not edible for $14. Not the mention the soup dumplings tasted gross and old. $7.75 for 4 horrible dumplings. SAVE YOUR MONEY and go to Julie's noodles for soup dumplings. This place clearly seems complacent with its customers and don't deserve any stars. I'm disturbed and threw up this food.

Chris D.

Yelp
I had eaten there several times in the past and found the food abundant, but saw a large cock roach on the floor near my table a week ago, then had food poisoning for about a week after that. Saw that someone had photographed two cock roaches in their food and the restaurant owner did nothing for a refund. Will not eat there again, too risky for my health. God only knows what is going on in their kitchen.

Kevin B.

Yelp
Hole-in-the-wall Dim Sum places are the best Dim Sum places - I'll take this over a place like Din Tai Fung any day of the week! Here are my recommendations: Hot & Sour Sop Soup Steam Riced & Bok Choy Scallion Pancakes Beef & Leek Dumplings Xiao Long Bao Soup Dumplings Siu Mai Mala Spicy Soup Dumplings Pro tip: make sure to make a dipping bowl and pour some red vinegar, soy sauce and chili garlic oil and dip your dumplings in here before each bite! Service: they're still serving on COVID protocols, so everything comes out in to-go containers.

Ellie C.

Yelp
One of the best Chinese food options you could get in Austin. I've only tried their food delivery and my experience have been great so far. Would love to do take out and visit the restaurant someday. They've done a great job with wrapping dishes for delivery. Would love to visit the restaurant next time to check out their dine-in atmosphere.

Chris M.

Yelp
We came here and ordered to go. Based on feedback from the staff there, here's what we got: 1. Chinese Sausage Fried Rice - it was the highlight of the meal yet the downer was it was light on the sausage. Small circular cuts of sausage were amongst the rice but not enough of the good stuff. I did like the flavor of the rice - had that wok-flavor - but next time don't short me on the sausage please. 2. Lamb Cumin dumplings were pretty good. Did not get enough dipping sauce but they were solid. 3. Soup dumplings - 4 of them for $6.50. They tasted good and we liked the dipping sauce. Not sure if we were supposed to get 5 but there were 4 and these were solid. Ask for more dipping sauce.. 4. Lamb Stir Fry - I think they made a mistake here because it tasted like beef with onions. Had a slight sweetness but did not have that distinct lamb taste at all - it was beef and it was okay. 5. Mapo Tofu - it's okay. Not the best Mapo recipe but it's okay. Overall - 3-stars - it's ok. But we haven't been back since our initial visit, so not sure if we'll give them another chance. Hmmmmm

Yelp
My mom was craving Chinese food, so I found Fat Dragon, which was the nearest Chinese restaurant with good Yelp reviews. We love dim sum, so establishment with dim sum served all-day everyday was a big bonus point for us. But unfortunately, the overall dining experience and the food did not meet our expectations, hence the two stars. Upon walking into the restaurant, we noticed boxes of drinks and plastic ware placed in one corner of the establishment, with a hand-written notification that customers order at the front, and everything will be served in to-go containers due to COVID. Even though I can understand the safety precautions around the pandemic, the boxes of food items, bowls, utensils, and bags (and almost using the dining part of the restaurant as a storage space) did not make us feel like the establishment was well-kempt and a nice space to enjoy the food. However, we understand that some restaurants are just like that, and their space does not necessarily reflect the quality and taste of the food. Hence, we seated ourselves and ordered the following: o. Mala Spicy Soup Dumplings o. Pork & Chinese Chive Dumplings o. Chinese Fried Rice with Shrimp o. Sautéed Beef with Green Onions The fried rice and the beef entree came out much sooner than the dumplings, and my mom and I both agreed that those two were much more delicious than the dumplings. As a huge fan of mala, I had high expectations of the mala spicy soup dumplings, but it was lacking both spice and flavor. The pork and Chinese chive dumplings were better, but neither of us really enjoyed the thick flour dumpling skins. I am not Chinese and by no means a valid person to determine whether the food here is "authentic" or not, but as someone who frequently eats out at Chinese restaurants, this wasn't the best one I've tried. All in all, the food was okay but the establishment could definitely work on some cleaning and even possibly some moderate renovation.

Terry P.

Yelp
I've wanted to try Fat Dragon for some time now, but I've allowed my favorite dish at Asia Cafe (twice-cooked fish) to lure me away. This time, I was determined to stay the course, made easier by available delivery. Now the mission was to determine what to try from their extensive menu, where nearly all of the dishes sounded delicious. I narrowed it down to the Shrimp and Pork Wonton Soup, asking for added chili sauce for spice. The wontons were fully stuffed and cooked to most peoples' liking. I myself prefer a chewier noodle and will ask for that in the future. My chosen entree was the Fish Fillet in Garlic Sauce, a very generous portion of fish in a light, yet extremely flavorful garlic broth. It was served with lightly steamed bok choy, the perfect accompaniment. It's a shame that, currently, the dining room isn't fully functional, because this restaurant is a great place for large groups to order several dishes to share, family style.

Matt R.

Yelp
I'm not in Austin very often so when I come to town I try to make sure and try something different. Decided to try Fat Dragon because I wanted some real soup dumplings. It was so good. I actually came back a second time a few days later.

Mandee K.

Yelp
I've been looking for a new favorite spot since my go to Nanking closed in North Austin and I think I may have found it!! I waited for a few pick ups to write this review to ensure the consistency was there - and.it.is! The food comes out fresh and hot. The ingredients always taste fresh and not old like too many other hole in the wall spots. The sauces and flavors are perfect, good portion sizes and good variety of eats. I've had a number of dishes but their lo mein, Kung pao and Mongolian beef are our current faves. They do make a mean sesame chicken too. Let's not forget to mention they have a yummy chili oil which is very important for the heat! Admittedly their interior design and seating leaves much to be desired but I'm a take-out Chinese kind of gal so no sweat off my brow, and no stars lost in my review ;)

Scott G.

Yelp
We went here when we were in Austin for a hockey game. Went off of Yelp reviews. We were not impressed. Even though we were eating in they don't have any wait staff so we go order/pay at the counter. They also put everything in to go containers which made eating Ramen with a small plastic spoon very difficult. Wonton soup was bitter and not good. Very dark. The ramen flavor was good. We also got an order of their soup dumplings which were almost impossible to eat in the little to go box. Pineapple fried rice was bland but nothing a bunch of soy sauce couldn't help.

Helen E.

Yelp
We really loved the food at Fat Dragon! We split the garlic eggplant and Hong Kong braised tofu and both were delicious and huge portions. The eggplant was perfectly tender, and the tofu was fried but soft and juicy on the inside (sounds weird but was so yummy). The service and physical restaurant weren't anything special, but I can't wait to try more from their menu.

Bette P.

Yelp
I think my brother was the one who told me about the soup dumplings & how he liked them, for that reason I am now disowning him from the family cuz the dumplings are INDEED horrible. Today, 30 mins ago was my first time here and is the very last time. Upon arriving I was told to have a seat, so i did. no one ever came to take my order, I didn't know to order at counter. Ordered a pop, again I did not know to get the pop myself from the refrigerator. I just sat there at the table and waited like a dummy. The dude working did not fill me in on how they run the shop. he just stood there or disappeared in the kitchen. egg rolls got delivered in togo packet, the rolls taste freezer burnt and mushy on the inside. nasty. the soup dumplings arrive & they suck. they are definitely frozen, the skin chewy. I never received plates, utensils, cup of ice, chili oil, vinegar!! why ?? bc you have to walk your butt to the end of the restaurant and get it all yourself. and they have the audacity the have a tip drawer at the counter hahaha. the place was dead for lunch. the caddy, napkins , menu's on my table was filthyyy. so disgusting. I can only imagine the kitchen. ew, yikes. I didn't order anything else. I quickly order and went and ate next door.

Mohammed G.

Yelp
Nice dumpling . They have variety of them. I do like their honest staff. They will guide you to the best food

Jake H.

Yelp
Fat Dragon has great Asian dishes! They are still quite busy with to go orders. I ordered some buns which didn't have much flavor but the kung pao was good, just with lots of thick carrots. I'll be back.

Brittney B.

Yelp
When you pull up, don't be turned by the lack of decor. This is the best Asian food I've had in Austin. Jeff was great with making recommendations. Everything we got was delicious! Soup Dumplings: The best soup dumplings I've had in Texas. Ever since having soup dumplings I'm Singapore, I never found some that came close to the flavor, texture, and soup to filling ratio until now. 4 is served with each order and it comes with a very tasty in house made sauce. Definitely a must! Combo Dry Pot (spicy): There's chicken, beef, shrimp, and veggies (broccoli, jalapeños, cabbage, onions, cauliflower, and I think sliced potatoes). The spice level was about a 3, on a scale from 1-5. It was full of flavor. The best way to sum up the flavors is Chinese 5 Spice with a dash of curry. It was served with white rice. I'm glad Jeff recommended this! I would have never thought to order this. Combination fried rice (spicy): Has chicken, beef, shrimp with the regular fried veggies and egg. There was a good amount of each protein and the spice level was good. To me, the spice level was about a 2 on a scale from 1-5. Veggie Egg Rolls: These were perfectly fried. Not soggy or mushy like some can come out. 2 came in an order and served with sweet sour sauce. I'm not sure if the sweet and sour sauce is made in house but it definitely taste better than others. Pork Egg Rolls: hands down best pork egg rolls I've ever had! Perfectly fried, well seasoned, and a 50/50 pork to veggie ratio. 2 came in the order and is served sweet and sour sauce.

Yelp
I'm married to a lovely Chinese lady....so three Chinese and two came here for the first time. I'm the only one that ate, they pretty much left their food untouched as it wasn't that good. Both orders of dumplings had to be sent back because dough still tough and meat raw. Was told the food here was great but was pretty bad in all honesty. Will not be back. Another indicator that the food isn't good....my friends was the only Chinese customers for the hour we were here....

Yelp
The restaurant office, I diverse and eclectic menu for those seeking Chinese, Japanese, and Thai cuisine. There was also an adjunct Sushi Restaurant next-door. I want to buy the restaurant for customers to order that fare. the dishes are moderately priced and the number I made to perfection.

Yelp
We ordered 3 dishes and all of them were subpar. The dry pot chicken was so salty we couldn't eat it, and the chicken was very dry. The eggplant w/ garlic sauce didn't taste authentic (not enough vinegar). Last dish was pork + napa dumplings - the dumpling skin was super thick/doughy and the meat tasted ~unique~ (not what I was expecting). Sad I had to give out my first 1 star rating. Food came out pretty quickly though!

Yelp
Use to love this place a lot. The other food is OK. But the people taking orders over the phone should observe their menu a little more. Literally the woman tried to argue with me that the tonkatsu doesn't come with chashu while on the phone I'm looking at on my brower and its says chashu. She says it has pork belly not chashu. Slap yourself also 1. Dont put brussel sprout in ramen. : it belongs in pho and give off an earth strong dirt water like taste that ruins the broth of the ramen over power the true flavor just for some extra crunch also make sure they are green and fresh not brown. I would say this is last place in the ramen game here in Austin. Check out michis or Tatsuya for true flavor and authentic food.

Yelp
I don't care for the fact so many places are still using COVID as a reason to use "to go" paper and styrofoam whether eating in or taking out. My reason for 4 stars. That aside, the food was pretty dang good. We had the fish in garlic sauce and mixed vegetables. The veggies were so good, of course the sauce had plenty of garlic and so tasty. The fish had a slight breading but it was served with a good amount of bok choy, and it was really very good. The sauce, was also very good. We are here in Austin on a house hunting trip and staying at a nearby hotel. The restaurant is in a strip mall with a few other Asian choices, it's got the hole in the wall vibe, wasn't a bad thing. The place was pretty busy with a mix of locals and hotel visitors. I'm always looking for a good Chinese food stop, if I lived in the area I would definitely come back here.

Yelp
11/2023, update: im so selfish. i hesitate writing this review because i don't want the whole world to know about. gotta do it. YSK: after you taste these soup dumplings, there is very high potential and probability for addiction. i order 20 at a time (4 per order), just in case i have share. almost sure that i've bad-vibed (possibly, i've snarled like a bitch-wolf) at my family so badly, they don't even want any. i'm OK with that.. i've only done takeout / delivery. yall, i order from there +/- 4 days per week. sooooo... lastly, when delivered, they come exquisitely packaged, perfect..EVERYTIME! !

Yelp
Wow - what a great lil Joint. I've been craving dim som & while we didn't have that here the reviews in their dumplings warranted an out of the way trip to try it out...who can resist a name like Fat Dragon(?) I'm not a huge fan of egg rolls, but my husband ordered the cheeseburger egg rolls (which sounds soo wrong) but he was instantly in heaven - so apparently they're onto something with that option. The pork belly fritter bao looked fresh & hit the spot. We ordered a 2nd set of these delicious bites....they should figure out how to make these into an entree. My main dish was the Dan Dan noodles - Just the right amount of spice & and the fried garlic aroma had me from "hello"! I was a little disappointed that this dish was served in the to go containers - even though we ate there - it was a bit of a hassle getting it all mixed together. However...it was delicious so I can't complain too much. We ordered both spicy and regular pork soup dumplings... we didn't care for the regular as much as the spicy - a little too bland (even with the sauces). The chocolate and coconut dumplings were fantastic. They're small so you'll want to pop it in your mouth in 1 bite -but beware - that coconut sauce is piping hot! Poke a hole to let it cool off just a bit. Pork lo mein - was good, kind of hard to screw up pork lo mein :) I'd recommend this place. They are a little short staffed so they are still serving everything in to go containers (a la COVID takeout style) so it feels wasteful when you're eating in the restaurant, but they gotta do what they gotta do.

Yelp
This place has gone way down hill. I used to order food here about 1-2 times a week, but for the last few months it has been mediocre at best. I started going here because Rice Bowl Cafe was a bit of a drive, but I'll just drive the extra 5-10 minutes for good Chinese food.
