Out on date night, my wife and I decided to stop by Fat Sal’s at Topanga Social in Woodland Hills after eating at STK Steakhouse. We wanted to share a milkshake from Fat Sal’s, so we went with the #4 Sal’s Fat Shake (Spoon-In Shake), which included vanilla ice cream, Oreo cookies, caramel, and sea salt. It was literally the best milkshake I’ve ever had, to be honest. Definitely better than any fast-food milkshake! I wouldn’t hesitate to come here again just for the milkshake. We were out on date night, sneaking away from the kids (who we left with babysitters), so it was a nice little treat for us. The service here is what you’d expect from a burger joint inside Topanga Social. You place your order at the counter using one of the touchscreen kiosks, and within a few minutes, your order is ready. They call your name or the number from your receipt. The ambience is casual and lively just what you’d expect from a food hall setup. You order your food and then grab any open table nearby. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m craving an over the top, ridiculously delicious milkshake while at the mall. See you next time, Fat Sal’s!

08/03/2025 I only tried their sandwich once, during the pandemic (I ordered a tuna sandwich from the Encino branch over the phone to be delivered at my place) in 2020 so today would be the second time. I orderes the "Fat texas". It had BBQ pastrami brisket | chicken fingers | mozzarella sticks | crisp bacon | grilled onions | melted cheddar & mozzarella | fries | mayo | honey BBQ | on a garlic hero. When it was served, it was hot and very delicious. I'm not sure why as of August 03, 2025, their rating was as low as 2.0 but I had a good experience. Note: You literally have to order to the kiosk first, before they show up and make it for you just like how "KATSU SANDO" employees do it.

This was our first time trying Fat Sal’s at Topanga Social in the Westfield Mall. These loaded sandwiches definitely did not live up to the pictures. We ordered through a kiosk. We ordered the Fat Jerry $20.99 Thinly sliced ribeye steak, grilled onions, melted American, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, crisp bacon, fried egg, fries, mayo, ketchup. Hardly any steak at all. Tasted like LOTS of fries. Maybe one mozzarella stick in each half of sandwich. Didn’t taste any crispy bacon. The fried egg was already runny from them cutting sandwich in half. Didn’t taste chicken fingers. Everything just tasted like soft textures. It was warm, not hot. Fat Texas $20.99 BBQ pastrami brisket, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, crisp bacon, grilled onions, melted cheddar & mozzarella, fries, mayo, honey BBQ. Had an okay amount of brisket but stuffed with one mozzarella stick in each half of sandwich, less fries than the Fat Jerry. Didn’t taste any crispy bacon. It tasted just okay. These sandwiches are very disappointing.

They would have received 5 stats of the kiosk that didn't go "off line" every time we got the check out button. It probably did that a total of 7 times or roughly 10 minutes. There was no one at the counter that could help us. When the food runner finally came out, it was only to hand out ready orders, so we fiddled with the tablet some more until it was successfully processed. The taste was great, exactly what we expected.

Of course "signature features" like overpriced sandwiches and a tiny small extra sauce for $1 are in place. It was a Saturday afternoon and the guy working there was overwhelmed with orders cause he was anxious while giving me my order. The sandwich was perfectly packed and rolled. There was enough sauce where usually you have to order extra sauces because of how dry the sandwich is. After the first bite I noticed spoiled taste to it. I was trying to identify what caused that but couldn't. I feel like they are not busy here so one of the ingredients got spoiled. The taste was good tho. The service was pretty fast. The atmosphere doesn't not exist - noisy, crowdy and not comfy seating. In the evenings they bring unknown rock artists who make more noise than playing actual music Next time I crave for Fat Texas I will think twice either I should buy sandwich here or at the other location

Staff was lovely. But this is a self serve location, the service was here is your food order. The menu has severely limited/meter options and is NOT a true Fat Sal's location. My Philly steak sandwich was SO salty .... I ate what I could and threw the rest away. The table was dirty and I ended up wiping it off/cleaning it with my own wipes. I will not go back and would ne er recommend anyone go there either. This mall has better options in the food court or other restaurants.

Worst sandwich’s I have ever ordered… no salt on fries. Bread not toasted. No sauce and extra dry. Worst $50 I ever spent. Better hire a new chef or this place gonna go outta business

Went for the first time this past Monday with my husband. We've been dying to try it out for a while now, since seeing it on social media. Soooo DISAPPOINTED.... :( So happy we went (just us two) instead of going with he whole family. We were there around 6pm - still early enough for dinner. Realized that we had to order our food through the kiosks only. Originally wanted a hotdog... Come to find out, they were closing in 3 minutes after we got there - because they had to do inventory. Then decided on Fat Sal's. Placed our orders (very expensive by the way) - almost $40.00 just for my food - a drink, sandwich and fries. My husbands' was a separate $25. I finally get notified that my food is ready. Come to find out, they ran out of the meat necessary for our sandwiches. Then we decided to order from your chicken place, then they tell me that they ran out of the waffles for the chicken and waffles. To say the least, we were not very happy with our first experience there. Unfortunately, we will not be going back or recommending this place. I rather just go to the regular food park when visiting the Topanga mall. - I gave the service 3 stars - due to the fact that the employees did try to rectify the situation by offering other alternatives for my items that they did not have and had paid for already.

Not your typical Fat Sals experience here nor the sandwiches. Small portions and high prices. Thats how I felt. The taste was not the same either. I normally share a sandwich with my husband but not the one we got today. We both thought it was small and it didn't taste right. We asked for hot sauce and they didn't have any. The ambiance is nice since it's located at the Topanga Social but the service and the food won't be me back.

We ordered the Fat Texas and Buffalo Chicken Fries -- both were fresh and prepared well. The wait, although seemed a bit long, was about the same as the other places we ordered from tonight. I'm not sure if the drinks were just stocked because they weren't very cold. The guy who gave our order was nice enough. He checked to make sure we had everything. Overall a good experience -- my husband said he would order here again.

Fat Sal's is always a popular choice so I was happy when I arrived and there was no orders ahead of me. I ordered the pastrami brisket sandwhich which comes with chicken fingers, mozzarella stick, French fries and pastrami inside ($18). I also got a milkshake ($12). They aren't the cheapest but that's ok! My small issue was the time to make the food. I waited 27 minutes. It shouldn't take almost half an hour for one sandwich in a mall four court. The sandwich tasted good, but I also was starving after the long wait.

We got a Fat Sal from Fat Sal's at Topanga social. It has thinly sliced ribeye, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, fries, brown gravy and mayo on a garlic hero. The flavors came together so perfectly. The sandwich is so large it's the perfect size for two people to share. My husband and I shared one and we were full after eating this. It's definitely worth a try !

Normally when I'm in the L.A. area, Fat Sal's is a solid go-to for late night food especially after a long day of travel. Last night, while staying with a friend in the valley, we ordered food from this location. Thankfully we were too hungry to really sit and think about it, but the realization set in that our food was pretty cold and not as good as it normally is. Maybe it's a location thing: I had ordered from another location while staying in Silverlake in the past and had zero complaints. The cheesesteak I had was a congealed mess of meat and cheese and was missing some of the toppings I asked for (most notably mayonnaise). The hoagie roll was soft and had chew which was a nice touch. I got onion rings as a side and those were actually really solid. My friend got the buffalo chicken fries -- he said they could have used some more sauce and extra time to melt the cheese, but overall they did the job. Same with his BBQ chicken sandwich. To add insult to injury, we were missing food items we had ordered. Either the person handling take-out orders forgot to pack it or didn't give it to our delivery guy... either way, that was close to $13 down the drain. Normally, I'd give benefit of the doubt to the restaurant, but it's not hard to make sure everything on the order card is packed and handed to the Doordash guy. Like I said, normally Fat Sal's is a good option, but last night's delivery experience at this specific location was very middle of the road.

I was prepared to not like it. Seemed like there was very little meat, just bread, French Fries and a big onion ring in the middle. All of that was true. Turns out the meat was really tender and bursting with cheese. Also, the guy at the counter was very friendly. And they were pouring out sandwiches at a remarkable rate so have to cut some slack!

The food is alright in all honesty. The cons are the prices for what you get. The sandwiches are not bad but you can spend $5-6 less at a deli and it'll probably be a little better. The ordering system in Topanga Social is still wack af... I was standing by the pick up counter with a few others and we were all bonding over the fact that they got our orders wrong or things were outright missing. The guy who looked to be the manager was just looking at the order numbers and giving out one item at a time thinking that was it. Then when we asked for everything else he gave an attitude and would look at the receipt and say "just hold on." I've said before that the area looks cool but once you participate in the whole topanga social ecosystem you get tired real quick.

My friend went to eat at Fat Sal's at Topanga Social today, Sunday, at around 4:00. They told us they weren't taking orders for 10 minutes, then they walked away and did not speak to us at all for 15 minutes. Then someone else came by and said they needed five more minutes. So that's 20 minutes without even being allowed to order. Usually, you can order at one of the kiosks, but Fat Sal's "button" was turned off, so we couldn't even do that. I went back later to order milkshakes, giving them another chance. We ordered chocolate peanut butter and chocolate caramel. They were $13 each! Also, they took 10 minutes to make them. Finally, when they did give them to us, they could not identify which was which. When you are dealing with peanuts, you need to know which food has nuts. The people honestly did not care that we couldn't place an order for over 20 minutes and then couldn't tell which shake was which. There are a TON of other places in Topanga Social to order from - I would skip Fat Sal's.

I waited 30 mins for my fries.. if I didn't go up to ask about them I would have been waiting even longer, maybe wouldn't have even got my food. Apparently my ticket didn't print.

Horrible - 22 minute wait. I ordered a sub at 12:58p on a Tuesday, the food court wasn't even busy but I ordered from a kiosk away at another restaurant. We had six other people in our group, all got their food from different spots, got it within five minutes and were almost done by the time I got mine. The sub was good but a little thin on the meats and super small (about 7") - for $17.51. I wanted to cancel my order but you can't, which sucks. I've had Fat Sal's in Encino and Hollywood, both five stars there... this specific one is absolutely brutal, though. It shouldn't take 22 minutes to make a sandwich, it's not filet mignon.

Yeah... sorry... Nope. Warning; DO NOT TIP AT PAYMENT. I'm pretty sure the problem lies in the 2 mooks that are manning this place in Topanga Social. The fries were COLD and dry as a bone. The bread was very hard to bite through & stale. There were literally no other customers or orders & still this "staff" couldn't complete a simple order satisfactorily. Unfortunately we tipped when we placed our order at one of the TS remote screens, which is the only way you can place an order.

Meh food here. I've been to stand alone Fat Sal's and liked it, but for some reason, food courts tend to sap the life out of some eateries.

Dry fries, no ranch given even though I was charged, food was cold meaning cheese was not melted. Asked if they could warm it or could be given a new plate and was told there was nothing they could do since i had already picked at them... Definitely not coming back

I would have to assume the few bad reviews on here are just anomalies... Whenever I have to go to that side of town I always stop in tapanga social for food. I never miss a chance to get Fat Sals. I guess some people could feel the time is slow to get the food but it's not fast food... Good things come to those who wait! I love that they finally made it this far north.

The food took forever to get, it tasted terrible and the young lady working was very little help. I'm never coming back. I ate half and threw the rest away. When I picked up my order my drink wasn't on the tray and when I came back I was told I was supposed to get it myself.....what kind of place is this and on top of it all they want a tip when ordering.....

Literally no one at the counter. Ordered a $20 Vegan Fat Shake at the kiosk, took 20 minutes. The guy in the back left it on the counter while prepping another order. Had to ask him "is the the vegan shake?" and he answered "yes" and handed it to me. We'll, guess what...had dairy in it! Not good. Staff doesn't seem to have a clue.

Awful. I ordered an Italian sub and it came out cold. When the rest of their items are not. The cheese was thick and just awful. I asked them if they could make it hot. And instead of making me a new one, they took my already opened sub. The bread was soggy and it was awful. For almost 20 dollars, I feel they should have done better. I didn't even end up eating it. I just wrapped it up and left it on the counter and told the young girl that I couldn't eat it.

**New Update ** Received a call from management about the delay when placing orders. They showed they are working to make it better and I have updated the review to a medium. Happy to come back and make it high once things improve. **UPDATE** Ha even worse, placed an order again with a different sandwich and it took Topanga Social 35 minutes to find out they had an order. Only to accept when the Dasher showed up. Then the sandwich was made and delivered. Took 1h 20m total. You can not make this up, $120 of messed up orders. This is a Topanga Social kitchen issue not Fat Sals.

1st time eating here and was highly disappointed. Lady behind counter very rude and they messed up my order. The food was bland and lacked flavor. Skip this place, plenty of better options.

This place is not user friendly at all and it's a hostile environment. You can only order from the machine which insists on getting your phone number, you can not order drinks as the machine gives you no option. As I was waiting for my order a frustrated guy who couldn't work the machine started bothering me to buy him the food he wasn't able to pay cash for, when I ignored him he proceeded to get in my face and ultimately I was battered awhile trying to de escalate in order to protect myself and my special needs son, security is nowhere in sight and they all show up in groups 10 minutes after it all happened and the guy left. I ended up not getting my food and I left, I will not be returning there ever, this is not a safe place especially for kids. You would think that the mall being enclosed will be secured, it's not. No presence and no security. You would think that after being physically attacked at their counter and waiting 15 min for a sandwich that won't come and we left - that they would actually reimburse you for it, but no. I guess my $21 can make Sal a little Fatter.

Terrible service, waited 30 minutes for a shake while the entire kitchen stood around and had multiple conversations. At least 3 Guest besides us were absolutely over the experience. Waste of money and time. FIRE THE ENTIRE CREW HIRE PROFESSIONALS NOT CHEAP LABOR.

I've been to other Fat Sals locations. I've always been a fan. The one at Topanga Social charges the same price for a much, much smaller portion. And much worse quality, too. If you're really craving Fat Sals, do yourself a favor and go to a different location.

You can never go wrong with fat sals the food is delicious. But I'm giving this location a low rating due to the customer service, the employee handing out the orders had a rude attitude, practically threw my bag to me. Definitely killed the vibe the that fat sals normally gives off. Will not be coming back to this location.

This is the coolest place in Topanga! All brand new. You can order from a Kiosk and it comes out perfect. Delicious food in the coolest mall.

Not sure what the problem is but a big nope at the topanga mall location. Placed my order at the kiosk (Fat Jerry and fries) at 7:53pm, 9/16. Received a text at 8:20pm that my order was ready. Walked over there and saw approx. 10 other customers waiting for their food. Went up to the front and 3 people looked at my confirmation number but couldn't locate my food. Customers received the same treatment. Manager finally shows up and apologized for the mess and refunded our order. It appeared that there was only one cook??? I don't know but hope they fix the issue.

The best tuna sandwich on the planet. It is delicious - not too much Mayo, and the roll is so fresh, I would almost order a dozen rolls

Cold fries. They didn't give us the sauces we paid for. No bacon in sandwich we also paid for. Sandwich was not good. Stale bread. Poor service, when we asked them to fix it they didn't seem to care

Fat Sal gotta shape up. Went to Westwood last week. They need a reset. I get higher prices but their portions shrunk and quality went down. 86 the cheese sticks and processed formed from minced ??? chickenish fingers ....nasty. Our 2 sandwiches were light on meat, veggies and even fries. With 1 soft drink $50 bucks.

What an amazing food court and Fat Sal's sandwich and fries absolutely hit the spot. Will be coming back again soon.

They keep forgetting my gravy when ordering through DoorDash. It's dumb expensive. Not to mention they cut down the size of the bread on there sandwiches shame on them

Came to this page and was surprised by the bad reviews. They must have upped their game significantly because this was the best fat Jerry's I've personally had. Waited about the same as all fat sals (10-15 min), but the sandwich was noticeably fresher. Will be coming back again!

Paid $31.50 for a mediocre sub and a thing of mozzarella sticks. Both tasted like they had just picked up the ingredients from the local discount store. Save your money. Mozzarella sticks weren't stringing and the sub bread was hard.
