It's small, but don't let that fool you. The good was absolutely terrific. My girlfriend and I bought the Groupon deal and took the chance , and boy were we happy. First off, it was freezing cold yesterday and I didn't realize how great spicy food is on a cold as hell day. I HIGHLY recommend the duck and the Green Vegetables. The vegetables might be one of the tastiest things I've eaten in a long while. Aside from having good food, our waiter was very attentive & genuine, but also gave us our space. Lastly, they have a pretty incredible alcohol selection for a small place. Next time we're in NYC, we will revisit the Fatty Crab

Fabulous! Amazing unique flavors. We had the pork buns, fatty duck, mussels, and short ribs. Each was awesome, although the duck and the short ribs had similar flavors. The waiter told us to order 3-5 dishes for the two of us. We got four, but it was waaay too much food and we are not on diets or anything, we eat a lot. The other weird thing was they charged us for the toast we got with the mussels. They did ask if we wanted it, but didn't say it was extra. No biggie though, waiter was very friendly. Loved that the whole staff was in costume for Halloween. Fun place, delicious food. It is expensive so watch out (although if we had ordered fewer dishes we would have paid less and been just as happy!).

I was just here with my family for brunch not too long ago and enjoyed everything! We started out with some Watermelon Mimosas and Bloody Marys, they were both tasty and my mimosa was very refreshing which is just how i like my drink. The porkbuns and fatty duck were my favorite! The duck was great, skin nice and crunchy and comes on top this rice that has a nice textured pieces for an added crunch! We also ordered the sliders, shishito peppers, shrimp & belly (another of my favs, spicy enough not to overwhelm the other flavors) and the watermelon & crispy pork. Can you tell we like pork? Everything was delicious! The service was great as well, the manager came in and checked in with us to make sure everything as good, they were very accommodating specially considering we had a 1 year old in tow. All in all will def. visit again, would love to sit outside once the weather is nicer!!

Interesting decor: the entire place has this warm reddish hue to it, with soft lighting that makes the place seem more comfortable than it is due to cramped quarters. The service is pretty fast actually and the food came out within a reasonable time frame as well. Came here with my friend with a groupon and we got a number of dishes, including the watermelon crispy pork, the green mango dip, quail egg shooters, and I think the Malay fish fry. The dishes were all pretty good, although pretty pricey for the portion size. Even after all that, we still went and got a second dinner afterwards. The quail egg shooters were pretty interesting and had different tastes and levels of spiciness to them. The green mango dip was more disappointing; it was just unripe sour mango that you dipped in salt to give it sweeter flavor, not my favorite. The watermelon crispy pork was probably the most likable dish of the night. Great balance with the watermelon against the pork, which was done pretty well with a nice crisp per its name. Sadly also a small portion, and the Malay Fish Fry was our filler with some rice involved. The texture of the fish was pretty good, although I think it could use a little more flavor (perhaps I needed to get more crab curry on it), and the curry sauce worked well with the rice. Over all, an interesting experience and more of a place to try some decent contemporary Malay-fusion food than a place to have a real dinner perhaps. Probably would come back to introduce some foodie friends someday.

Yum! I stopped by for the chili crab the other afternoon and was amazed by the dish. I've had chili crab at many places, but Fatty Crab has a way with their sauce. Its thickness and spiciness is well balanced and very satisfying. I visited on a Tuesday and noticed only after I ordered that they did an "all-you-can-eat" on chili crabs that evening for $59. Definitely a great deal. Be sure to check their instagram to be sure.

We had a Gilt City voucher for brunch at Fatty Crab and absolutely loved the food. I didn't have a problem with the service as mentioned in reviews. Service wasn't really memorable either way which is actually good considering the service you normally get in NY with any type of coupon or voucher. I'm not sure if they are struggling now or have just outpriced themselves, but all 4 other couples dining there had the same voucher. Food is very expensive, $10 - $20 for an appetizer, $20 - $30 for a main, though the portions are a bit more like tapas so it's suggested you get a mix of both. With our voucher we got 3 snacks, a brunch item, and a special entree. We ordered the quail eggs, pork buns, and sliders as snacks, the rib hash as brunch, and the fatty duck as the special. The quail eggs were interesting, but not something I'd get again. The various sauces and toppings were excellent, but the consistency of the egg was odd to me. The pork buns were excellent and had amazing spicy sauce to smother them in. The pork was pork belly and fatty but delicious. The sliders were also superb. I don't know what spice was in the meat, but it was fantastic. The brunch was the most disappointing item. The braised ribs were very good, but there was not much of it and mostly potatoes which were a bit bland and boring. The duck though, be still my heart! It was without a doubt the best duck I've ever had. It was prepared a bit like pork belly, with the fatty portion with some crispy skin. It also came on a bed of sticky rice with peppers that was very satisfying. I would definitely go back just for the duck which was also fun because we were encouraged to eat it as finger food. We also had a bottle of house prosecco with our voucher which was pretty good and went with the spiciness of the meal. We also finished with a glass of iced coffee which was super sweet but refreshing and got a big chocolate bar with the check. I'd go back for sure but probably skip the brunch part and go straight for the fatty duck. Also, the Duck BLT the people next to us had looked exceptional as well. The atmosphere sitting in front was also very nice with the weather and pretty calm on a Sat morning.

Some people are put off by the boisterous atmosphere and loud rock music but I love this place. The food is incredible, very friendly and knowledgable staff can guide you through the menu. Great artisan cocktails and the watermelon salad are a must. Not great for quiet, intimate conversation, but fun for a night out with friends.

We had the pork buns, crispy duck with watermelon and noodles. It was amazing. Everything. The unique combination of flavors were surprising and delicious. I'll go back 1000 times more to try other dishes on the menu.
