Fàula

"Fàula is the restaurant at the Casa Langa hotel, a large property which opens out like an amphitheatre to offer panoramic views of the valley. Here, the young chef skilfully creates cuisine which blends the culinary traditions of the Piedmont with more modern dishes. A good selection of wines from the region, plus a biodynamic kitchen garden add to the appeal." - Michelin Inspector

Where to Eat, Stay, and Drink in Piedmont

"The elegant on‑site restaurant led by chef Daniel Zeilinga that highlights organic produce from the property's garden, offers thoughtful twists on Piedmontese classics, and runs popular cooking classes (notably tajarin, a tomato‑water white ragù with salsiccia di Bra, and the silky bunet dessert)." - Ray Isle

Dining at Faula, Casa di Langa, was an extraordinary culinary adventure. Nestled in the picturesque hills of Piedmont, this restaurant offers a harmonious blend of breathtaking ambiance, impeccable service, and world-class cuisine. We had dinner at Faula on three consecutive nights. From the moment we stepped inside, the warm and welcoming staff enveloped us in a graceful and attentive atmosphere. The modern yet heritage-inspired décor creates an elegant and inviting space that perfectly complements the region’s culinary heritage. The menu showcases the best Piedmontese cuisine, expertly paired with an exceptional selection of local wines. Each dish is a culinary masterpiece, meticulously crafted with fresh, seasonal ingredients and incredible attention to detail. We had specific dining needs, and they were very happy to accommodate us and make dishes for us that were not on the menu. The sommelier’s expertise was evident as they guided us through the wine pairings, offering thoughtful recommendations that elevated our dining experience. They have a rich selection of wines. To conclude, we had tiramisu (which was not on the menu), and by far, it was the best one we've had. Whether you’re a wine connoisseur, a foodie, or simply seeking an unforgettable dining experience, Faula is a must-visit. It encapsulates Piedmont’s culinary excellence and hospitality, making it a destination we will undoubtedly return to on our next visit to Casa di Langa. A big bravo to the team for delivering such a remarkable experience!

I had high expectations for Fàula, but I left extremely disappointed. The food was shockingly bland and completely lacking in flavour! Each dish felt uninspired, with none of the depth or creativity one would expect from a restaurant of this calibre. It was honestly difficult to understand how this experience aligns with the restaurant standards it boasts. For such a highly acclaimed establishment, the food was forgettable at best and fell far short of even a decent dining experience. The waiters were not engaging and felt like they were repeating a speech about the dishes. The lighting and atmosphere in the restaurant were also not conducive to an enjoyable environment. For the prices you pay this was truly underwhelming.

The overall experience was good - but considering their ambitions and price level not outstanding. We felt that a more traditional / local tasting menu should be offered as a dinner option too - and it tried to be too modern forgetting the strength of local dishes. The full tasting menu we had offered many ingredients that are not local nor from Italy (eg fish from the Atlantic, Japanese herbs). We understand the desire for a modern twist, but the menu selection and the ingredients could be improved to reflect Piemonte’s great cuisine and Italy’s diversity in food and dishes. The dishes were throughout good, but for a true Michelin star aspiration the experience needs more twists and a bette rebalance between local identity and a world class experience (this restaurant has not receive a star yet, but the price level is reflecting a Michelin star level expectation) The wine selection was focused on local produce and the pairing was a great choice. Overall good - but considering the great choices in this area and the completion, I would say it need to step up a notch.

One of the best dinners we had on Piedmont. Should have a Michelin star. The red shrimp appetizer was perfection, the sirloin was superb. Highly recommended.

First time in the restaurant, surprisingly good food, service and atmosphere, and well-priced wine list. Highly recommended if anyone coming to Alba, Piedmont area.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Langhe. The food is always fantastic and the wine list is the best I saw in the area. Waiters are also great and always efficient. Can’t wait to return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to food & wine lovers.

One of these evenings where you feel like living a dream. Best experience since a long time in its totality: view, setting, pasta, fish, wine, peace, Italy, romance, all coming perfectly together ; on top at (still) an affordable price. Grazie mille❤️
