Google
The best coconut cream bun ever!!!!! Coconut cream buns have always been my favorite little dessert since I was a kid and I’ve had so many in my life where I’m sure you can guess some are a hot and some are a miss. This one is the best! So fresh and delicious but you can say that about anything here honestly. Although all the bakery items are amazing, you have to give some of their hot foods a try. The steamed pork bun is superior than then the bakery pork buns in my opinion. Also, the beef curry puff was perfectly flakey and well seasoned. I genuinely thought this place was hype but it’s definitely not! Also, the pricing just can’t be beat.

Been going here ever since I was little and have watched this bakery grow greatly over the years. I absolutely love this place and the food and drinks are great. The staff are so nice and know my sister and I very well since we come here often. We love getting their cakes when were going to someone house and its a great stop by bakery when your in the area. I recommend the taro bubble tea and chicken sandwich. This place is like home I hope they never shut down

Google
Only good thing was the tea, and the coconut bun was okay but the donut was extremely dry and tasted old. The coconut bun tasted like it has been sitting there too. I thought that it was a good bakery because of the high ratings but I tasted lower rating chinese bakeries with way better quality. I find that the smaller hidden away bakeries are better.

Some of workers very rude, others are nice. There are (1) workers out of the bunch that seem not to wanna help customers. There is a long lines every day, and this one particular lady chooses to wash dishes instead of dealing with customers, just about every mornings when I come in. Not much to wash, but her face says a lot when she looks around and notices a long line, it's obvious she turns the blind Eys and chooses to do something else. Even though I like this place, it really gets annoying when I gotta wait 10-20 min to get a cup of coffee, and then she gives a nasty look at you. Im new to area for 5 months. I think it's time to explore other coffee shops in area.

Google
Bad experience the cashier was rude and impatient. I bought bread and cake today morning, and when I want to order a cake, I repeated the name of it three times and pointed to the one I want, but the cashier just ignored me and charged me for a wrong one. The first time I corrected her, but the second time I trusted her picking the right one so I didn’t double check it. But when i left the store and opened the bag it’s totally wrong cake. No receipts, the store was not busy but she was super impatient also to the next customer behind me and I realized she didn’t pay attention to what i said or pointed at all. It’s not the first time I’ve been in Fay Da. Won’t come to this store again.

Phenomenal!! I started coming here a few months ago and I try something new each time I go. Every pastry I’ve tried has been SO good that I keep coming back for more. This bakery is a gem in Forest Hills and it’s in a good location right by the subway. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Try the hot dog bun or the coconut & cream bun, you won’t regret it.

Google
Worst quality drink/food ever experienced in an Asian place with regards to cold taro bubble tea and red bean buns. It was our first experiencing eating here yesterday, and being in Forest Hills and seeing the 4 star review, we expected good quality food, but we were sorely mistaken. First, the taro bubble teas were atrocious. Way more ice than any place, making it extremely watered down after just five minutes. The bubbles themselves were of inferior quality—I’ve never experienced bubbles so soggy and slimy that stuck together so easily. It was disgusting. And the straw was dreadful—we couldn’t finish our drinks because the cheap paper straws flattened and crumbled apart. I had to drink my bubble tea by removing the lid. I am frugal and never waste food or money, but we threw out half of our drinks because the quality was so terrible. Next, the red bean bun exterior was soggy and soft instead of being crispy and tasty. The red bean paste inside was dreadful; the taste of the red bean paste was weird and gave me the impression the ingredients used to make them wasn’t fresh. Red bean buns are one of my absolute favorite treats to eat at Asian places like this, so we bought a half dozen, and immediately regretted the purchase when we got home and tried them. This place really dropped the ball. As a side note, we notice it was mostly non-Asian American people (customers) at this place, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Seeing how this place is 4 stars, I get the impression people that go here might not understand what decent quality Asian snack cuisine should taste like; I can guarantee Asians that know how to identify authentic good quality Asian style snacks and drinks would never come here. We will never coming back to this horrible place again.

Google
3.5 starts. This Fay Da Bakery is conveniently located right next to the 71st Avenue subway stop in Forest Hills. Perfect spot for commuters to quickly grab breakfast and/or lunch before heading into the subway. Fay Da is a popular Chinese bakery chain and there are many locations in New York. The staff at this location is very friendly, polite and efficient. During the morning rush, there can be lines for the checkout, but they move very quickly. The bakery is clean and there are plenty of seating in the front. There is a ramp at the entrance, making it stroller accessible but not wheelchair accessible as the door is not wide enough. The baked goods/pastries are towards the back in display cases and by the counter. The breads and pastries at this location are usually very fresh due to the high traffic that they get. They put new items out several times during the day. I really like their sponge cake and almond twist pastry. They also offer some savory items like curry beef puff, pork buns, lotus leaf wraps and sandwiches. This place is cash only. Overall, a great place to grab a quick snack or meal.

Yelp
Great selection, delicious. Service was very good. Clean and popular spot for locals. Some is self serve, Steamed buns are from the workers. We had Denmark, steamed chicken, egg tart, and fried fish sandwich I loved the Denmark- never had before Chicken bun was great for lunch. Eat in or take out! . Right in front of subway station- convenient!!

Yelp
I ordered the Neapolitan Cake, which I've been wanting for a while now. While I personally can't taste different individual flavors like strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla in the cake, the cake has the perfect ratio of cake and frosting. It's subtly sweet, and the cake is spongy. There's also little shavings of chocolate around the edge of the slice, which is my favorite part. The staff at the front that rung up my boyfriend and I was nice. There's a few tables to sit at while you grab a quick bite, and the bakery gives me the same nostalgic childhood feeling of an Asian bakery. This bakery is a little larger with space for seating. Around 5 PM on a Sunday, there's not a large variety of cake and pastries left, but maybe that's a good thing if it means bread is fresh!

Mickel E.

Yelp
One of the original Asian bakeries. I love coming here and enjoying my mini buns and bread. It's always fresh and clean.

Marina C.

Yelp
If you've been to Fay Da before.. everything is pretty much the same at all locations. I don't usually get food for myself at FD but my mom needed something quick at the time so we bought a few baos and sandwiches. The spicy chicken sandwich is really filling. For the price.. especially nowadays, everything is so expensive, the sandwiches are really affordable and will keep you full for hrs at less than $4! Though it is pretty spicy.. they should make a regular one so my mom could try it. I do not like the egg tarts at Fay Da. Doesn't have that nice yellow color, probably uses less egg yolks.. The warm baos in the steamer do not taste good and are so overpriced. I'd rather go to Chinatown and buy buns there that I can freeze for later.

Stephanie A.

Yelp
So impressed at the variety of options that Fay da offers. I felt like i was starring at the display cases for a while because I couldn't make a decision. Everything looked so good. The prices were fair and the bakery was clean and organized. I got a cheesecake, baked pork buns, steamed pork bun and egg custard steamed bun. I can't wait to return to forest hills!

Shantal W.

Yelp
So good! I stopped by before my evening class and it was still crowded like a morning rush. It isn't the prettiest bakery but the pastries def make up for it. Like most Chinese bakeries in the nyc, you grab a tray and some tongs before heading to the cases to pick out your items. It's inexpensive and although they didn't have many chooses that time of day, I was able to settle with a BLT bun and a custard bun with sweet topping. I also ordered a iced coffee at the register. All of that was only $8 BLT Bun: (4/5) So yummy! The bacon was thick and the vegetables tasted fresh. The sweetness from the bun complemented the bacon so well. Custard bun w/ sweet topping (5/5) WOW! This was so perfect. I loved the custard and it reminded me of something I couldn't put my finger on. I loved the flakiness of the topping. It's a must try. Iced coffee (5/5) I was pleasantly surprised how much this coffee woke me up before class. It was very strong, sweat and creamy. I'd def get it in. So tasty and inexpensive with decent customer service. I will be back.

Harshil S.

Yelp
Ordered the fresh mango cake for $28. There were only a limited types of cakes. I felt the cake was average in taste. Could hardly taste the mango. It looked better than it actually was.

Bob S.

Yelp
Was back in Forrest Hills, for only a few hours, had to visit Fay Da and Pick up some goodies. The synopsis of the review is: where can you get a tasty filling Breakfast for less than $5.? It's yam cha style. Eat first, then grab a tray and start going from bin to bin or rotary case and make your choices. If you didn't know it; you could be in a fancy French or Italian pastry shop. That's how good some of the cakes look. This place is always spic and span clean. There's someone wiping down the tables, the handles and cases where the pasties are displayed constantly. The trays and tongs are wiped down and returned to where they're set out for use. The baked goods are fresh, delicious, and, in a good way, addictive. Handheld pastries, cakes, are on display. The selection is astounding. Moon cakes are back.

Vicky C.

Yelp
I used to come here often when I lived in the area. Quick, cheap and convenient. I like their sandwiches and taro buns. Their egg custard tarts are average.

Sharon S.

Yelp
Decent pastry, mediocre cake, a nice little place for some quick buns that are slightly cheaper than other bakeries around. However, the employees working there are the reason why I do not go there anymore. Most of the have a nasty attitude, especially one of the lady that had worked there for quite some time now. She rejects my coins and throws them back at me when I do not have the exact change. As a customer I have the right to pay with any forms of payment as I wish! Unacceptable behavior and totally unnecessary to be treated such way for some pastries.

Samuel C.

Yelp
Good basic place to catch a quick bite and when you are on the go. Has pastries and bread and tea. Good location too because it is by the train station.

Jando S.

Yelp
Now that the Forest Hills is primed with Chinese options, I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise to see Fay Da steps away from the heart of Continental Ave. It's not just smart being next to one of the busiest subway stations in the borough, but also perfect for being one of the only Chinese bakeries in the area. Sometimes when the BEC (#1) isn't cutting it, then the variety of Chinese pastries becomes a potentially cheaper and more sustainable early morning meal choice. I do appreciate their superb cold milk tea (凍奶茶), morning freshness pastry wise, and quality spectrum of buns and different options. It might look like a tiny store from the outside, but compared to other Fay Da locations, it's surprisingly spacious. The takeout scene is big, but there's some limited seating here as well. Service is usually rushed, despite it not feeling all that busy in here ever. There's no WiFi and like many local places in NYC, it's cash only. The prices are becoming Tous Les Jours-esque at this point. $40 for a lot of their cakes and $30 moon cakes are kind of cray with only 4 per box. When in doubt, come in the morning and rock a chicken puff (雞批) or curry puff (咖哩角) and get a cold drink. ___________ (#1) Non-New Yorkers, we call this "Bacon Egg and Cheese"

Yelp
I ordered a chestnuts cake online, paid with credit card. When I went to Forest HIll store to pick up, a casher had my cake, asked me for pick up number, but I didn't know anything about it. She said if you don't have the number you can't take the cake unless you pay for it. So I started to looking for my credit card statement. When I showed her $26 was paid to FayDa 2days ago, she still said you have to pay for this cake. I get upset, started yelling. Then she asked my cell phone number and started packing the cake. Before She give me the cake she wanted me to sign a pick up sheet. My name, my phone number, my credit card inf, the amount was paid were all there on that piece of paper. while she was keep telling me to pay for this cake, she knew very well the cake was already paid.

Judy T.

Yelp
Love this place! Service was awesome! The buns are awesome. I loaded up on hot dog buns, coconut buns, and many goodies. I love the bakery - always clean.

Eva S.

Yelp
I'm a bit appalled. Somehow I decided to come here today for all the usual unhealthy fare, the roast pork buns and curry puffs galore, and when I went to pay the $15 with a debit card, I first had to switch registers and the second lady rang everything up again. Initially, she wasn't firmly grasping my card when I offered it to her, and it slipped out of her hand and fell down to the counter because she wouldn't take the thing. Then when she tapped FOR me, which most places allow the customer to do for themselves, she wouldn't let go of the card when I went to take it back. For the second time, it went clattering down to the counter top. She "apologized" both times, but how genuine could your apology be when you're just deliberately being sloppy? It seems to me that they're mostly interested in cash. That's what it boils own to, but guess what? As the customer, I get to choose my method of payment, and save my 20 for when I want to use it. Lastly, they seem to only offer paper bags, which left me with two little brown paper bags-worth of piping hot buns, not convenient to have to hold in 90 degree weather as I wait 20 minutes for the bus home. Sloppy, careless and I won't be returning.

Yelp
I SPENT ALMOST $80 worth of bakery foods and was charged from Fay Da Bakery and ordered 18 items and didn't receive 5 items ( $20 dollars worth). Went on the app and submitted a picture of all the items that was received ( 13 items) . After, I called Uber Eats Support and Spoke with an Uber Eats rep on the line for them to tell me their specialty team needs to investigate further and they would be contacting me in 6 hrs. I did NOT get a response till 5am this morning for an online rep named Esther confirming I was not eligible for a refund. I called again and spoke with a Trish and she told me she made a report to the specialist team about the situation again and they responded that I would NOT be receiving a refund. FAY DA BAKERY & UBER EATS JUST LOST 2 CUSTOMERS who have been customers for A VERY Long time. Hope the $20 was worth it.

Yelp
Fay Da may not be my first choice in Chinese bakeries, but their convenient locations cannot be beat. This one on Queens Blvd in Forest Hills is mere steps away from the entrance to the 71st Ave subway station. If you're on your way to work, it's so easy to pick up breakfast with coffee/tea or a late afternoon snack on your way home. The listed hours are from 7am-8:30pm, but lately has been closed by 7pm when the shelves are mostly bare. There is usually a very good selection of buns, both savory and sweet. The usual standards like roast pork, ham & egg, hot dog, pork flax, pineapple and coconut cocktail are available, as well as more uniquely different types. Try the curry beef puffs or chicken pies under the carousel heating lamps. The flaky crusts are great when they're reheated in the toaster oven also. I'll buy a variety of buns and pastries to have for a convenient breakfast out of the microwave on weekdays. If you can get a freshly baked char siu bao (roast pork bun) in the morning when it's still warm, your whole day seems brighter.

Sue F.

Yelp
I really love traditional Chinese pastries, and am so glad Fayda opened in FH. It's very popular among non-Chinese customers as well, I was really impressed. The food is good and prices are very reasonable and the recent renovation makes it even better visually. Unfortunately, there are a number of homeless individuals permanently sitting in the bakery taking up seats. It's kind of gross. I wish NYC is not this sad. Too many homeless people at Fayda, too often.

Vivian Y.

Yelp
AMAZING DRINKS. Great value. Classic Chinese baked goods. Drinks Taro with coconut jelly: best taro drink that I've had in a long time and it's under $4!!! Absolute winner and will come back Green tea with orange and pineapple: if you want a tropical green tea drink go for this! could shockingly still taste the green tea underneath all the orange and pineapple. Pastries: Taro cake: delicious taro filling, light cream, fluffy sponge cake Hot dog bun: average hot dog bun- light fluffy sweet bread with hot dog inside. Roast pork bun: inside of the bun had roast pork with a similar texture to pulled pork. Savory filling and would definitely get again. Service: there were two workers and they were so sweet even with the big wave of people who came in when we came in. They freshly made drinks for us and they thanked us so much for tipping :)

Yelp
Food is ok, but customer service is very bad. opening cashier( 71st ave)misbehave with customer. I order coffee, she made coffee and throw it in front of me. very bad attitude. I will call 311 and reported about it.

Prima B.

Yelp
One of the best parts of Queens is being able to experience so many different cuisines. Since discovering Fay Da I have been hooked!!! Definitely try their hot dog roll, fish sandwich and heated pastries.

J Z.

Yelp
Great Cantonese Bakery! The price is reasonable. The service has been good so far for all my visits.

Holly H.

Yelp
A small Chinese bakery with both sweet and savory options. I visited three times for breakfast in the same week and got different items each time but purchased the beef curry bun every time because it is so warm and delicious. Great for a quick bite to eat while you are on the go! Make sure to bring cash; they don't accept card!

Jeannie T.

Yelp
Love old school Chinese Bakeries, just like the ones I grew up with in Chinatown, NYC. Prices are reasonable even now, 20+ years later, you can still get a satisfying assortment of buns and baked pastries for about $1-$3 each. Go really old school and get a small milk tea or coffee and a roast pork bun for just under $3. Classic Chinese breakfast. These local bakeries, especially this family owned chain, has been around as long as I can remember. With all of the recent nouveau European/French inspired bakeries popping up everywhere, I am always giddy to see one of these classic ones instead. Don't get me wrong, as the times change, the newer establishments are just as drool worthy and just add more competition to the playing field. Always room to grow. But I'll tell you, spending just a few bucks for a taste of my childhood, I'll buy into that any day. This location is super popular with the locals as it's steps from the subway and on the busy Queens Blvd. The space is well lit, fully stocked (I was here on a Sunday afternoon) and had ample seating. Numerous counters of cakes and breads all on display. You serve yourself by taking a round tray and tongs - one time use please. Just hand everything over to the cashier when you're done. Each row of breads can be accessed easily, lifting the cover open. There's even two rotating warming racks displaying the really good stuff that should be served warm, think curry puffs, chicken rolls, roast pork pies and other minced meat selections. I couldn't resist and bought three. As for the real reason I stopped in, egg tarts! My family and I just love those sweet, flaky crust, egg based tarts. Grabbed four to go as well. I believe this place is Cash only ... As most Chinese Bakeries are. Open all day but if you're heading in after 5pm, slim pickings.

Mike S.

Yelp
My previous review still stands and I will continue to come here when I am in the area, but I wanted to give an update on the continuing battle in this world of Good vs Evil. Today I stopped in to pick up a couple of egg tarts and a steamed pork bun (Thanks Doug W. for the inspiration) to take home. I brought my egg tarts to the counter as one of the ladies went for my steamed pork bun another rang me up. I noticed the cashier overcharged me about $1.00 (I was charged $5.40, 10/4/18 Good triumphed where I was charged the correct amount of $4.25. Moral of the story: Always ask and check your receipt!). The lady brought my bun and packed my items nicely. She began a discussion/argument in Chinese with the cashier and pointing to the cash registered. Since I don't speak Chinese I can only imagine she was actually looking out for my interests trying to persuade the cashier to correct the issue. Sadly, evil won out today. I paid the amount without argument since I probably would have left a tip of similar size anyway. I am updating my review to a neutral 3 stars because I still hold hope for this world and Fay Da in my heart despite my imagined angel losing the battle this day.

Stephanie Y.

Yelp
Great Fay Da location with friendly and efficient staff. Everyone is gloved and masked and they limit the number of customers at a time for COVID. There is an open selection of pastries, including hot baked goods such as chicken puff, and roast pork buns along with sticky rice. My family tends to stop by early in the morning to grab breakfast as it's a great price and open much earlier than other establishments in the area. Some of my favourite things to get are the hot dog buns and the chicken puff, both items that I got this morning! The hot dog bun is a hot dog encased in a sweet fluffy bun. The juxtaposition is a perfect pick me up in the mornings and always hits the spot. The chicken puff is a savory and saucy chicken inside a flakey puff. The insides have a distinct black pepper flavor and a light brown sauce keeping the entire pastry moist. The exterior remains flakey and doesn't soak up the sauce. Nice Asian bakery in the neighborhood, providing a good selection of Chinese pastries nice and early in the morning!

Cher Y.

Yelp
My all time favorite Taiwanese bakery shop. They have the most varieties and all fairly good quality and reasonable prices. It is still a family-owned up to this day. They seem to care more over all than any those franchised shops. I hope they open a few in Long Island though.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Limited choices during the pandemic. A few of my usuals were missing so I ended up getting a Chinese sausage bun. It was a bit oily all the way through, but the white bread was light and fluffy. I've came a few times before and ordered different bakery items and they were all decent. Would get again: mango mochi, milk bread, pineapple bun

Diane J.

Yelp
Fay Da is a staple Chinese bakery that has all of the typical Chinese breads, pastries, and drinks. Cash-Only and self-serve with tongs! I've come here several times to satisfy my sweet tooth, and I always leave satisfied. Daily-baked buns and pastries are about $1-3 each, seasonal moon cakes are $10, and Western-style cakes are $2-5. The hot buns, especially red bean, tend to run out by the early afternoon. The golden mung bean bun is one of my favorites. It's a bit more niche compared with other popular offerings such as pork buns or egg tarts, but it has a delicious rich, sweet, yolky filling. Service is always friendly and efficient, in my experience. Whenever I ask for a hot bun, someone always takes the time to come and get it out for me. The line may at times be long, but it moves extremely fast.

Linda T.

Yelp
Fay Da is my go-to place for a quick meal after my yoga class. I usually opt for the roast pork bun or taro bun. I'm also a fan of their sweet butter roll buns too and they sell 6-8 pieces in the circular tin tray. Their sandwiches aren't bad either. I have tried the classic ham & cheese sandwich and the fish sandwich. I also recommend their soy milk (with some sugar) and iced milk tea. Definitely come here for a quick snack or light lunch. Everything is pretty cheap and it's usually less than $3 for a bun, pastry, or sandwich.

Sara N.

Yelp
I'm all for tipping for good customer service, but I was taken back when I went to the counter to purchase my $2.50 bun. The woman gave me my change and then tapped the tip jar a few times. I guess this was my indication that I should have tipped?

Ginger C.

Yelp
The 5-STAR review is for their dedication to service...all the bakery workers here are overworked and possibly underpaid. They work very long hours-- before getting into details about my experience-- I DO want to reiterate this-- if you pay with bigger bills like 20s and 50s-- it's OK to say what your bill is "aloud"-- call it out loud enough so other people on line could hear and see it. Yesterday morning, I paid with a $20 dollar bill (along with $0.75 in coins) for a $6.75 purchase. I got back $4.00 and when I immediately asked for clarification, the cashier said, "No, you gave me a $10!" So this went back and forth for like a whole minute...my eyes locked with hers. Finally, I understood and conceded. She'd just fought so hard for herself because she DID make a mistake. And if she did make a mistake (or had other intentions--) well, either way the customer can't be right...because then she would've lost face, possible in front of all her Chinese speaking regulars and in front of her supervisor. I know how much face matters when you don't have anything-- her eyes reflected the fiery of my late immigrant mom and the intense glare of my MIL-- the plight of Asian women of generations before us-- and also, currently the same issues keeping Asian women from advancing. When I went in there yesterday-- I spoke only Cantonese. I didn't speak English like I usually do. That's my privileged language of expression-- the language that could make such a big stink on Yelp but that's NOT what I'm going to do here today. I'm taking the high road (and possibly the road less taken) In response to this incident, I beseech you all-- (if you can spare the extra change) when you go in there next time-- please drop a tip in the workers "gratuity box." I definitely do not condone her fight or flight response however, I forgive her-- whatever her reason, it's fu$&ing survival mode. Please leave a tip if and when you can. One last note-- their steamed buns and hot Ovaltine is wonderful on a chilly October morning!

Yelp
CASH ONLY. Right above the subway station, so super convenient for commuters! We've lived here for 2 years but haven't frequented this bakery as much as I would have expected us to. Maybe because I've warded off carbs / bakeries for a while. But, our daughter LOVES bao so we've come here a lot more recently, for HER. I haven't had bao in FOREVER but their bao quality is top notch. Super fluffy and slightly sweet. I know me a good bao! And now I'm sad that we didn't come here more often after living here for 2 years. My loss! I didn't grow up eating sesame balls, but I see folks ALWAYS putting this in their tray when they come here, so I followed suit. Holy shit. They're so good! Nice chewy mochi dough on the inside and a very thin fried sesame crust on the outside. Nice pairing. I think it would be better w/o the red bean filling honestly but the red bean filling is pretty good. I must try their other things before we move away from here!

Comments T.

Yelp
Their birthday cakes are good. But if you buy their bread indoor, every time you need to remember to ask for receipt and check if it's all the items you put in your plate to check out , especially when you fill your plate full with different types of bread. You also need to be clear how much each bread costs, otherwise there is possibility you may be charged at higher cost which actually not the price of your picked bread. On the receipt, you will see a different item's name. I leave this comments after they charged me wrong three times. Two times, I had to go back and pointed to the receipt and they refunded me extra charge. Another time, I only found out after walked out too far and didn't have time to go back for about $2. I never trust their cashier any more. By the way, my kid ate out a hair in the pork bun once.

Jayson C.

Yelp
I like this bakery a lot because they have amazing pastries. The service not so much. Never has anyone been friendly or even saying hello. But maybe that is part of the experience when you go to authentic Chinese bakeries? All I know is that they have a pastry called a Cinnamon Walnut Cruffin. OMG, it's amazing. I could eat thousands of these. I also love egg custard tarts usually but I do not care for them from Fay. I don't know just wasn't floating my boat. I will go back there every chance I can get to get the Cruffin though.

Yelp
CASH ONLY ! I love this place. Fay Da is probably the only chinese bakery I would always go to! Their bread and bakery are authentic and it's always fresh. I always like to buy some for the week. I put them back in the microwave or oven for couple mins and they taste just like it's freshly baked! I also like their coffee and milk tea. As a girl from Hong Kong, this is a must for me to get a hot milk tea for breakfast or afternoon tea! It can get crowded during rush hours. It's also cash only. They do not accept cards. There are some tables and seats if you want to eat there. This is my go to bakery whenever I am craving for some Bao! Definitely give it a try!

Yelp
I've heard lots of good things about Fay Da Bakery, but never found the time to stop by, or when I did I only had my credit cards on me (cash only establishment). Luckily was able to pop by this afternoon. I kinda grabbed a bunch of random things because I didn't know where to start. I rated them 1-5 below, 1 being the best: *sticky rice bun (5) *custard bun with sweet topping (1) *cheese bun (3) *almond danish (2.5) *sweet bun (2) I tried to remember all the names exactly but their exact names might be slightly different. The custard bun was by far the best. Sweet bun filled with fresh custard and a crumbly sweet topping. The sticky rice bun was yuck. It definitely tasted like fish, but the signs don't have any descriptors other than just the name of the bun. I honestly have no idea what was actually in it. Only giving 3 stars because nothing seemed like none of it was very fresh. I recognize I went to the bakery in the afternoon, so I look forward to trying it again in the morning and hope to revisit my review with better results.

Yelp
I rarely come in this bakery. There isn't anything wrong with it. It's just when you always eat Chinese food; you can get sick of it. This decision was out of my hands when the F and E trains didn't stop at union turnpike stop. I usually go to the Starbucks near there for a grande bold coffee while waiting for my ride. I couldn't just loiter in this bakery hence I ordered a cheese bun. I find it icky they let anyone go pick their own pastries in those clear glass boxes. The routine is you pick a tongs and a plate. When you go to the cash register, they ask if you want a drink to go with it. Then, they quote the price. The last question is to go or to stay. The whole process was quick. My favorite item is the curry puff from here. It's an acquired taste but it's hot and spicy; I love it.

Yelp
Some employees are rude and quite unpolite. When you order something that might give them a little bit more work, they start rolling their eyes and complaining in their native language when that's their job!

Yelp
I picked up a few items from here: a fish sandwich and a matcha sponge cake. The fish sandwich was made with frozen breaded fish, but it's not bad for a $3 sandwich. The matcha sponge cake was made with Ito En matcha according to a sticker on the display case. It had a slight matcha flavor, though it mostly tasted like ordinary Chinese sponge cake. Not sure if they do online ordering. Their website was down. They seemed to be out of many items, so it might make more sense to check it out in person. Several signs say they are cash-only.

Yelp
Convenient location right on the corner of 71st Ave. and Queens Blvd. If you need to hop into a green taxi afterwards, they are lined up right outside the door---MTA entrance for the R, M, E and F trains several feet nearby. Ok, so it's not the *cleanest* Fay-Da Bakery I've been to (and by that, I mean I've spotted employees using their bare hands once or twice when arranging buns, and the trays are probably never cleaned)...and I do wish they had parchment paper separating their trays instead of having to put the buns down directly ontop, but in fairness I've noticed most places don't have this anymore perhaps due to cost. Products are normally quite fresh as it's a high-traffic area so that's a plus point---food turns over quickly! Checkout moves fast but take note of how your purchases are rung up as once in a while you might catch human error happening. Cakes displays are phenomenal-looking. My tips: 1) They encourage you to place your tray of goodies on the high shelf to move the line along efficiently, as they slide the trays down. My suggestion is to NOT do this unless you welcome the opportunity for strangers to cough, snort back phlegm, or breathe all over your food as the shelf is somewhat face-level. 2) Plan on taking your purchases to-go as regulars tend to monopolize the place for hours on end.

Yelp
Not enough tables and chairs. Mostly elderly folks here. They just hang out and hog up table and do not leave. Every Fay Da Bakery has the same products. This one is much smaller. Place is conveniently located by the subway station and bus stop which all Fay Da Bakery are. They do not clean the tables. Women just replace products, and hang out in the cash register area.

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite places in Forest Hills. Highly recommend the steamed pork buns, lemon bun, sesame ball, taro puff, and pretty much everything else in the store. The lychee green tea was one of the best I've had in a long time. Very affordable and quick - you can't go wrong with Fay Da bakery!

Yelp
I feel like I get constantly jipped here. I bought three breads, milk tea/coffee medium cold drink, and a water... Total $8.60... I was thinking about after I left, and it should not have been so much... AT MOST, it should have been $7.20ish so CUSTOMERS, BEWARE OF THEM SHORT CHANGING YOU!!! Im going to start asking for a receipt... how come they dont give receipts???

Yelp
Love this place, it's so good. The pastries are fluffy and not as sweet as a typical American pastries. They have many different types and style of pastries along with bubble teas and soy milk drink. They have sandwiches for under $5 that can serve as a breakfast. Most of their pastries are about $1.75 to $2.25. Highly recommended, could be useful for birthdays or office meetings if you want to try something other than donuts.

Yelp
I'm not gonna lie, the pastries are actually pretty good. I got a cheese bread, an egg bun and a hot milk tea. Would recommend the egg bun because the size is huge. Couple of downsides. They don't accept credit card, only cash. Another down side, is for those who don't eat certain meats like pork or who are only vegetarians, you would have to be careful. The same utensils used for meat are used for non meat, which means cross contamination. This may not be a big deal for some, but for others it is.

Yelp
All the bakery items are good here. It got three instead of four stars because they left an item I paid for out of my bag.

Yelp
Fay Da has been my go to for on the go bites whenever i'm seeking breakfast or a light lunch. their goods are always freshly baked and suuuper varies - i personally love the hot dog wrapped in sweet bread and their assortment of steamed buns. at most something might cost you $2.50 which is AMAZING and can get you a ton of satisfying and yummy food for super cheap. I also get coffee and cakes from there. the ladies are always quick and friendly and the space is kept clean. there is seating so you can stop and hang and it's located right by the train for on the go purposes.
