Feng Mao BBQ Lamb Kebab Olympic

My first time having these cumin spiced lamb skewers on a rolling grill and I LOVED it. We ordered 25 for 3 of us, which seemed like a lot but we killed it - 15 lamb, 5 chicken, 5 chicken heart(?). Wouldn’t recommend the chicken was a bit dry. The spicy lamb is actually very spicy, but also addicting so couldn’t stop. Appreciated the refillable banchan. We had to wait about 15 min. It’s a small restaurant with limited tables and the grill doesn’t cook them very fast.

Delicious skewers! We mostly got the lamb ones but also liked the pork belly. In addition to the skewers, we got the seafood pancake and the pork dumplings. Everything was fantastic and we would definitely go back again

Taste is really good 👍 😋 👌 Service is also really nice. But the hood is not good ability to take off smoke, so I recommend not to seat in the middle of the restaurant. Everything is really excellent with Ching tao beer. I WANT TO VISIT AGAIN SOON 🤩

Fantastic Korean Chinese cusine. Table is served banchan. The Mala Lamb skewers over the grill at your table. The wok dishes were excellent as well. It's a hidden gem in Koreatown on Western Ave. A must try !

All the good here is terrific. The meats are super tender and well seasoned. All the a La carte dishes are amazing too. Get the green bean dish and the eggplants. Great place to have a big party with their outdoor setup, not sure if they still have it going. Lots of parking on street or the bank across.

Really enjoy the process of grilling. Every time i thought i am full but i can still eat a lot after longtime grilling. 😂The taste is super great and waiters are all kind and helpful. They taught us how to grill and tell whether the meat is ready to eat. Definitely 5 stars.

A great place to get Chinese spiced skewers: lamb, beef, mushrooms, chives, etc. The red spice mix is a mixture of lightly spicy red pepper powder, cumin, sesame, etc. The skewers you get are raw and it's fun to turn them over the gas powered but charcoal cube accentuated grill. Best to just turn up the heat to max and make each side a golden brown. Lamb soup with sour cabbage is a cold day cure. The service is fast, especially with the table button. The ambiance is refreshing and much quieter than popular Korean BBQ spots. The take out here is not as good, they seem to just bake the skewers in a tin foil pouch and there's a lot of oil that can spill out. Seasoned lamb and beef skewers on an automatic rotating charcoal grill. First time dining in at this location. We ordered lamb skewers, beef skewers, and the cucumber salad. The skewers take a few minutes to cook so throw on as many skewers as the bottom row allows. Once it's cooked to your liking, transfer them to the top row and throw on more skewers on the bottom row. The seasoning in the lamb and beef is made of cumin and red chili peppers. Not spicy but very flavorful. The cucumber salad added a refreshing contrast in between bites. It was slightly sweet, which I didn't expect. The interior is set up with a ventilator above each table, but you can't really avoid the charcoal smoke smell. All in all, great restaurant for Chinese style lamb skewers in Koreatown.

So much fun!! First skewers experience and it's like another fresh kbbq experience The lamb and beef skewers are really solid value. Lamb was super tender and quite fatty, but great smoky flavors. I wasn't the biggest fan of the marinated beef skewers...I thought it was too sweet for my liking Fried bun w pork and veggies were a hit!! 10 buns for less than less than $20 was solid and the chili sauce on the side complemented the dish so well The seafood pancake was one of my favs--crispy on the bottom with lots of toppings including real pieces of squid, bell peppers, etc. Super big portion too Sautéed onchoy was pretty solid but lots of stems (rather than the nice leaves). Good flavors but quite wet for my liking I will caveat that everything for the most part (especially the skewers) was a bit too salty for my liking, but paired with rice it was not too bad Service was phenomenal and staff were super attentive to our needs We had to wait a bit after arriving late to our reservation and the overall dining area was quite small Overall will definitely come back here again!

Amazing!!! The pig ear and skewers are divine here. The rotating skewer machine makes eating a quick and painless process, and the service is very thoughtful- they come over and help you out if you're struggling to multitask. Pig ear is so tasty here that I'd come back just for it. I only wish they were carried on a food delivery service. Yum

I hope they have more options to choose from. This small restaurant is overall great. The only server there is really great to help us cook and give us everything we need. I hope they have more spicy powder. The parking is valet and 3 dollars for not busy time.

Spinning skewer is fun to eat but the quality of the skewer was just like every where else. Dry pot was good but too spicy!! This potato dish I never had before but it was very good. Inspired me to want to make it too but I think I will fail. Seemed like what it is described as borderline Korean and Chinese bbq. A nice chill small place to drink and catch up. Free parking across the street at the bank during limited night hours. Really expensive though for their amounts

Feng Mao has delicious meat skewers that is worth the extra trek to visit. Their lamb was especially delicious; the meat was very tender, and had some really good fatty pieces mixed into it. I also recommend their marinaded beef; that was the best version of the beef skewers. I'm not sure what kind of sauce the restaurant uses (maybe galbi seasoning?), but I kept wanting more. We also ordered a few of the more interesting meats like the aorta and kidney. They were okay. I think those meats are better with a cumin flavor. I would recommend that you try out the chicken gizzard to get a nice crunch with every bite. Aside from skewers, our group split the could noodle soup. It was not too spicy and a really refreshing dish to go with the skewers!

Love this place. When you come to Feng Mao, you come for one main reason , it is for their lamb kebabs. They are fantastic. The lamb meat is nice and tender and fatty. Besides their lamb kebabs, the marinated beef kebabs and the chicken hearts kebabs are also delicious. As for side dishes, I like their: Fried String Bean dish - loads of flavor. ( MSG) the good stuff. Fried Sweet and Sour Pork - delicious stuff. Scalian Pancake - It's light and not heavy. Service was quick and friendly. We ordered everything through our phone through a QR code. It's easy and quick. Parking - they have street parking and also a free parking lot at the bank across the street from 6:30pm to 10:30pm. I highly recommend making reservations. As they only have 9- 10 tables. As we were leaving, there were a lot of peeps waiting outside. Until our next visit.

Definitely a staple in koreatown! This is the OG location! They specialize in lamb and beef kebabs but they also have plenty of other kebabs. Another favorite of mine here is the deep fried sweet and sour pork. Everything here is definitely packed with flavor! Come hungry and leave happy! The service here definitely has gotten better and the quality of meat is still really good! I also love the upgraded self rotating grill. Prior, we had to flip them ourselves. Only con is that there's no parking lot, so you have to look for street parking.

This place gets 5 stars alone for the water spinach aka ong choy. Most places don't give you enough or it lacks flavor. Feng Mao fills the plate to the brim. The right amount of soft at the leaves with a crunch at the stems. Saucy and garlicky, this is a nice compliment to the mala on the skewers. I frequently think about this ong choy dish and would go back just for this. Skewers were very good too. The rotating bbq tech is fun to watch and cooks the meat in a well-rounded way. I prefer the beef without the mala seasoning. Not a fan of the numbing sensation. Why would I not want to feel my tongue? I very much need sensation in my tongue to taste my food. If you've never had it, try it, but you've been warned. You're not getting 5 star service here. They are cordial and quick. The servers will fill your cup with water a few times, but mostly leave you alone, which I appreciate. You'll get a slither of a smile with a hint of, please come again, when you pay the bill.

Food is so delicious and authentic. My kids love it too! We had a great time for dinner.

If you are looking for authentic Chinese skewers, this place wouldn't disappoint! We have come here a few times in the past and always loved it . The place is kind of small but cozy. Bathroom is clean and the customer service has never let me down. Pricing is also reasonable. Anyhow, it's been about 2 years since our last visit, and we noticed something has changed for the better! Before, you would have to manually turn your skewers to prevent those amazing kebabs from being burnt! Now their BBQ grill will turn those skewers for you automatically, giving you better experiences! The place can get smoky if the place is packed, but that's BBQ restaurants in general! So, no complaints there. We tasted almost all the skewers available in this restaurant and these are the ones we can recommend (everyone's taste buds are different but here are the ones we think would worth trying if you are spoilt for choice): - Lamb kebabs (10/10) - Seasoned mala lamb (10/10) - Beef kebabs (9/10) - Seasoned mala beef (10/10) - Pork belly and enoki mushroom (9/10) - Sausage (8/10) - Fish balls (9/10) Overall, I would totally recommend Feng Mao BBQ if you were even remotely interested in kebabs! You shouldn't pass up the chance to try this restaurant because your stomach would walk out happy !

My favorite place for lamb skewers and malatang in Ktown. The malatang has a real kick to it while not being too overwhelming, creating a truly addictive dish with a great portion size. The lamb is great with the cumin powder. The inside is quite clean and the seating is comfortable. They have the automatic skewer rotators, which is a plus, and when needed the servers come by to help. Very reliable and a wonderful place to have a meal!

Food was good but a few good things were out from the menu. We came at around 7PM so I didn't expect things to be sold out like beef tendons. Parking was easy to find for me at least. The place was rather empty though. It was a good experience but I think I won't be coming back since it wasn't too extraordinary

I've been to their Western location a while back, but I prefer this one for the convenient parking. You can park in the bank parking lot next door. Unfortunately, I took a photo of the allowed parking hours, but I must have deleted it by mistake. I believe it's allowed after 6 PM, but I'm not certain about when you need to vacate the lot. The food was good and reasonably priced. I appreciated that everyone at the table could order on the phone for the entire group, making it super easy. The service was fast. While it may not be the most friendly place, they were fast and efficient, so no complaints here. The place is quite small and fills up quickly. Also, they won't seat you until your whole party is present, so be mindful of that.

My friend treated me to lunch for my birthday, because I've been craving for skewer for a long time:) The restaurant is smaller than I thought, but very clean. We ordered pretty much all the beef and lamb choices on the menu, chicken cartilage, and some other intestines:) My favorite was lamb, especially the ones that's been marinated. Highly recommend! The cold noodle was surprisingly good. My friend said the taste reminded him of the cold noodle he had when he grew up in northeastern china. I definitely want to come back again to try other dishes, as they offer a lot of varieties other than skewers.

One of my favorite restaurants in ktown. There's two locations in the area, this one and the one on Western, but I prefer this location. Service is fast and friendly. You order on your phone through the QR code. Their lamb skewers are THE BEST. I alwayssssss over order here because I order with my eyes lolol, but it's okay because the food is still good when taken togo and heated up the next day! Their mala dry pot is also very good, not too spicy and has good flavor. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to try or is craving chinese skewers!

I love this place! I really enjoy the beef and lamb skewers here, haven't tried much else. The skewers are fatty enough to give the meats their rich flavors and tenderness, and the fire really brings out the smokiness. The seasoning they provide is excellent. I usually order a side of rice too, and with the banchan, it becomes a great rice dish! Every time I visit LA I make it a point to come here. Parking is easy on the side street.

Staff is very nice. Meat is good quality. We order the lamb, beef, eggplant and dumpling. Dumpling is handmade and tastes really good. Will come back again.

This place has been on my restaurant bucket list and I'm so glad I tried it! My boyfriend and I ordered 25 skewers and were both full! Pricing was not too bad and service was great! What a fun place to try specialty meats and have regular great tasting meats too!

A Chinese/Korean kebab house with convenient parking across the street and some very delicious kebab. Although the interior looks mundane, it actually fits the food and the mood of the place. The mala flavor was perfect and made me miss home. It was a pity I don't drink alcohol, otherwise it would be a wonderful combo.

Feng Mao never disappoints! I love getting their beef and lamb skewers. I'm not a huge fan of lamb but the mala lamb is pretty good. Also really enjoy the mushroom entree and spicy cold noodles. FYI- They used to cook everything for you but now it's self order through your phone and you cook the meat yourself. There's easy street parking right next to the restaurant.

Good but a lil high price. We four people had about 60$ per person. The cold noodle is sooo good. If you wanna have some refresher after all meats, that's the best option.

A wonderful Chinese bbq spot in ktown! The employees were super friendly and would help grill the skewers if you ask or if you look like you're struggling. The meats were delicious, juicy, and tender. I tried their beef and lamb skewers and I prefer their lamb more. They also provide side dishes and I LOVE their seaweed side dish (must try).

I've been coming here for years and I just took a group of friends here and they really really liked it. I have no complaints about this place. The food is always really really good. It's also a nice experience to cook the kebabs. 10/10 from me!

What an experience! If you're in the mood for bbq but not really feeling the typical KBBQ, Feng Mao is a great alternative where you get to cook your meats on skewers on a small grill. This location has outdoor seating if you're still uncomfortable dining indoors. They still bring you out a charcoal grill for you to cook your meats, although it seemed like all of the meats were already cooked... you can put it on the grill to char it a little more. We got a bunch of different meats and veggies but my favorite was the lamb. You really can't go wrong with any and you can get pretty exotic in terms of different parts of meats. We also got an order of cold noodles, seafood pancake and pan fried buns to mix up the bbq meats. The cold noodles were a good contrast to the bbq but I thought it had a little too much vinegar. All in all, it's a great experience that you should check out. It's a little daunting looking at the menu and seeing how many options there are but you'll be sure to find something that suits your tastebuds.

Came here for the first time last night and love the concept. It has a mixture of already made dishes as well as kabobs. There's a selection between cold, hot, and meat dishes. We went with the squid and geek kabobs. Pro tip: don't leave the squid on for too long, one of ours dried up really quick and was hard to eat. We tried the cumin lamb and got a plate of pork and celery dumplings. All of which were good! Service is speedy. We forgot about our kabobs a few times and the server was quick to help us turn them over. It kind of has a KBBQ vibe. They have seating inside and outside. Parking is available across the street at the Hanmi bank which is free from 6-11pm.

Both locations are great but I prefer the one on Western as the dishes are less oily and crispier. I suppose one can say that the Olympic location is more traditional Chinese cooking. You should try both.

So happy my husband found this place. Their skewers are amazing, we've tried almost everything on the menu, we are never disappointed. So so yummy. Last but not least, this restaurant has the nicest servers!

Great food great service , ordered lamb beef corn and chicken wings , everything tastes good with fair price

Snap! I felt like I went to china and ate some authentic food. The grill is so unique that it hurled me into another dimension. The mandoo was out of this world. And even though the noodle soup is simple, it just opened up the palate and then we were able to eat even more food and then the potato pancake was like better than Kobawoo's pancake, which is saying a lot because that is one of my favorite places.

Seriously, what a great KBBQ experience! It is not the typical AYCE KBBQ I am used to. It is Chinese/Korean fusion with skewers. I had the lamb, seasoned mala beef, fish tofu, some fish balls and all were delicious. For a non-skewer dish I had shredded pork with cilantro. Some of the banchan were Korean, but there was one that had a Chinese taste to it. Overall, I love the entire experience here. They are very busy and the dining area is small. There i free parking across the street at the bank in the evenings.

I have not had authentic Chinese BBQ skewers for years. This place hit the spot. They use real charcoal here and you need to cook the skewers yourself unless you want to sit outside and have the workers cook for you. The meat is tender and flavorful. They also give you dry seasoning plates as well so you can add additional flavor to your liking. We also tried their Korean style cold noodle soup and it is also very good. Their dining area is small and quite smoky. You need to have a mindset of focusing on good food and nothing else.

Yum, the online order on app was a little difficult to navigate but the food was good,, cumin seemed to have been a spice in many of their dishes abs it was sooo

COVID SAFETY RATING: ***** 5 STARS ***** Very good BBQ. Even the greens are tasty! Like most Korean BBQ, you grill your own food, so any chance of burning is ultimately your mistake, and they give you a big container of water so that you can serve yourself. The ordering system is extremely efficient. You order by phone and they just start bringing things to your table. Very clean and safe. They check your ID as well as your vaccine status, and there's an outdoor area if you still feel unsafe indoors.

Fun place! It was my first time having skewers cooking over a coal burner. They have a large menu with a variety of meats and seafood. We also ordered cooked items which surprised me at how large the portions were. I highly recommend the cucumber salad and beef and pork skewers. Don't be intimidated by the vast menu or portions, it's well worth it. I'll definitely be back here to try their soups and stews Only downside about living abroad is that the potential for burning/charing your food is super high. And another reason to come by again is to learn how to cook each diff type of food.

Reminded me of China and Korea, just authentic and good. The not so good: Waited twenty minutes to sit down, when I saw multiple dirty but open tables. The bathroom is right next to their plating area. The kitchen has a door that they closed off but it's so close to the women's bathroom. I almost got hit in the face when I left the bathroom and a server didn't even look and swung open the kitchen door. The service was interesting. People don't talk to you and it seems like you just have to know what you're doing. They're so busy that they don't have time to guide you. Also, If you're in a big group, they will pay more attention to you. We sat down first but the bigger group got their food first. We ordered multiple things but didn't get all of it. They had to check in with us and we cancelled half our order because we didn't want to wait another hour to get our food. They ran out of rice (???) they also tried to give us food we didn't order and when we tried to explain we didn't order it, we got strange looks. If it was service, they should have said so. Would I come back? Maybe in a large group. If you don't have time to watch other people get their food first, don't come here.

This is my favorite restaurant for Chinese BBQ skewers. I always come here every time I'm in LA. What's special about this place is that they use charcoal for the grill which adds flavor to everything. Both the spicy lamb and beef skewers are so juicy and full of flavor. You are given spice powder and a sauce to dip your skewers in. I had the squid, mushroom, chives, and eggplant and they were all really good. During dinner time at this location, you're able to park at the Hamni Bank next door.

A little pricey, but good flavor and meat quality. Expect to spend 30-50 per person. If you have no idea when your food is cooked just ask the waiter.

One of my favorite foods in the world!! I don't eat lamb so I get beef. It's so good~! We also get the smashed cucumber garlic salad and the spicy pork with cilantro dish! Love it so much!! Yumsers x 10!!

I recently moved from the SGV area to ktown. This restaurant is similar to T Kebob in Monterey Park but the meat quality is better in my opinion. The grill is not as fancy and doesn't automatically rotate so you have to cook your skewers manually. My only gripe is that some of the skewers require a minimum of 5pc per order so I feel it's a bit much for a party of 2. I recommend: -beef kabob -squid -gizzard -pork belly wrapped enoki -pork belly wrapped asparagus -enoki (plate) Wasn't a fan of the pork spare ribs. The food was tasty, will definitely be back!

This place is amazing. I almost don't want to write a review because then it'll be even more crowded than it is now. I've been coming here for years and have taken most people I know. From people who think dark meat is intimidating to relatives straight from China, Feng Mao has never failed to impress. While they seem like a Korean restaurant because they serve banchan and have some classic Korean dishes, their Chinese dishes are what makes them so unique. The skewers are the main draw. The dipping powder is basically crack. Lamb is the classic but there are lots of different types to accommodate everyone. If you don't know how to cook the skewers, let your server know and they are always happy to help. If you are really terrible at it, they'll even take over and cook it for you. The pan fried buns are a must order. It's soft, it's crispy and it's got a great dipping sauce. All the meat and veggie dishes are delicious and they have quite a few that are hard to find outside of SGV.

My northeast Chinese boyfriend and I came here to try the lamb kebabs and stew since I've never had lamb before. The kebabs were quite juicy and delicious, no gamey-mutton taste/smell. The stew was also delicious as well as the complimentary steam egg, buns and lamb rib skewer. Lamb kidney is a no no unless you're feeling adventurous and don't mind extreme mutton taste Atmosphere was also very nice, he said the flavors were pretty authentic and good. Parking also not bad if you park at the bank or find a spot in the neighborhood. Would definitely come back again!

Really good spot for Chinese skewers and you order on the site so it's auto sent to the kitchen to prepare. Only downside is that the space is small so it gets SUPER hot inside. ENJOY!
