Chef Fernando Dovale’s Portuguese-Mediterranean seafood has long earned loyal local followings. Expect mariscada, shrimp Mozambique, and New England-leaning specials—a singular coastal perspective within PSL’s dining mix.

What an amazing experience for this town! Whenever anyone asks for an authentic recommendation, Fernando’s always comes up. It’s smaller and quaint, which is perfect for an intimate dinner. The service is lovely and the presentation is exquisite. We went here a while ago and didn’t get to submit the review, but it’s been on my mind to go back. I wasn’t able to get the pictures of the meal in time, but all the meals brought out were delicious and meticulously prepared. The dessert was on point and the drinks were perfection. If you haven’t tried Prosecco with dessert yet, it’s a must.

Excellent vibes and service was awesome. Smaller menu but some really great choices and flavors I hadn’t tried before. Definitely more on the pricier side. Steak was delicious, fish was fresh, and the dessert was amazing!

Google
This place is NEXT LEVEL!! 100% authentic Portuguese food!! Some of the freshest seafood you’ll ever find! 😍 Chef Fernando is the real deal! This place has awesome vibes inside and service was incredible! Thank you to everyone for making it an unforgettable experience! They went above and beyond! So many different flavors and colors to every plate I saw! All fresh and delicious foods! 👌👌👌 Deserts were the icing on the cake! Great way to end the evening 😁

Google
Food was good. Octopus was a bit over charred for my taste and soked in too much oil. The Veal was excellent. Caesar salad was wonderful with plenty to share. We appreciated the dog friendly patio. Service was good but not the friendliest of staff, but they were prompt and did a great job.

Google
Wow! This is special. The waiter explained all the possibilities of plate options to your taste. The Chef walked around checking tables. The food preparation was perfect and the sauces were succulent!

Google
The ambiance was great, the location is tucked away yet once you walk in, dining inside or outside both give you the feeling like you've stumbled on some hidden treasure. The service was great, our server was attentive; the food came out at a reasonable time, not too soon, yet didn't keep you waiting. Delivery of the starters/appetizers were good, you almost wish the appetizers came as full meals; as per all the meals, they were flavorful but they didn't feel heavy, as to not leave you feeling bloated upon leaving. Though the menu selection isn't large, all the dishes give a sufficient variety as to meet your desired tastes for the evening. And it's worth mentioning that if you're in the mood for simply something sweet, the desserts are worth going for alone

One of my favorite local restaurants that I have gone to regularly. I enjoy the menu, food quality, atmosphere and service. Their shrimp Mozambique is incredible!!!! 😋 The area is cute and comfortable. It's a romantic atmosphere indoors & outdoors. I included a few photos to give you an idea. Enjoy your meal! If you have found my review helpful please give me a thumbs up 👍 and feel free to follow me for future reviews.

Google
Enjoyed sitting out on the patio. Dunno why they have hedges hiding the water view. Caprese salad was excellent - very fresh and four large tomato slices. Sea Bass was tasty and super hot.

Yelp
Food was good, service okay. No am appralin ambience. Had a higher expectations from the place.

Yelp
Old wow this restaurant never ceases to amaze. Our meals were truly delicious. We had the salmon with some buckle out and also a bottle of wine. We are definitely going to come back to this exquisite restaurant right on the dock. Definitely the place of luxury.

Yelp
Shrimp Mozambique, save your bread. You will need it to finish the sauce. The branzino very tasty, little tedious to eat, but once I figured it out, it was pretty good. Make sure you add the lemon. And this salmon is always good. You can't go wrong here.

Yelp
Always excellent food, I've never been disappointed. Authentic Portuguese cuisine and a very classy place to celebrate!

Yelp
The food here is simply the best Portuguese Food in Florida. Love the ambience and service as well. Lots of free parking and the Sangria was amazing. Try the cod fish cakes!

Yelp
Portuguese / Mediterranean / American We were the eastern part of PSL and looking for dinner after an event over at the Mid-Florida center. A quick Yelp search suggested Fernando's, so we headed over on a Saturday night. We did not have reservations but were in luck as there were two available tables when we got there. Waitress was with us in moments and got us going with drinks / menus. The place is pretty small / cozy and decorated with a lot of what I would call "traditional" Portuguese items (roosters for example) and it sets the tone for the food that will be coming out. The menu contains all of your Portuguese favorites: cod cakes, escabeche, chourico flambe' to start with mariscada and bifanas and everything in between! The food is just delicious, and we enjoyed every bite. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp Mozambique, and the sauce was perfect with my bread. Portion sizes were large, and we were too stuffed to go for dessert. Prices were average for the area. Definitely a very good meal and we will be back for more. Parking lot available.

Yelp
Great food Good service nice ambience But try to go off days, time..... it gets very busy and unfortunately LOUD !!!! But it's a great place

Yelp
Food and sangria is really good, lots of flavors. The price was a bit on the expensive side. No other good Portuguese restaurant around.

Yelp
I have had wonderful food at Fernando's in the past. The food recently did not reach my expectations. Did they change hands? But the chocolate desert is to die for. We had Ann excellent wine their see my photo.

Yelp
Went for the 1st time w friends. Pretty place, nicely done, comfortable and speciaI. I ordered the sea bass, nicely cooked, covered in a Vidalia onion tomato light sauce. the veggies side it came with was a nice medley of green beans and squash. Two others each had diff salmon dishes and enjoyed. My husb got the branzino and didn't love it. The wines by the glass are reasonable and they give a nice pour. They start you with a warm bread basket. Service was friendly and efficient. It did take about an hour aft ordering to get our food.

Yelp
So far the best donner I have had here in Port Saint Lucie. The waitress was so nice , James was super friendly and joked with us. Then owner came out and spoke to everyone as well. Very friendly place. The octopus was amazing, the mussel appetizer was perfect and the chicken was soft and no dry had an amazing flavor. Everyone should try this place.

Yelp
Omg. Great food. Pasta seafood is the best I've had in years. Service is good not great. Ambiance is also ok, noisy. The food is the star. Pricing is decent.

Yelp
Very enjoyable on all levels. The food was delicious, presented well by a pleasant server. During dessert we were visited by the chef who asked us about our experience. We were extremely satisfied.

Yelp
Hidden treasure on Jensen Beach! Fernando's Dockside Grille offers a culinary journey that seamlessly blends fresh seafood with the vibrant flavors of Portugual and Mediterranean, and the warm and inviting atmosphere at Fernando's Dockside Grille adds to the overall charm of the dining experience. The result is a cultural and memorable dining experience. When placing your drink order, do not pass on the Sangria. The Sangria at Fernando's Dockside Grille is nothing short of exceptional. The refreshing and fruity notes perfectly complement the tropical heat of Port Saint Lucie, making it an ideal beverage to savor with the flavor of the food. The Shrimp Mozambique, a highlight of the menu, showcases Chef Fernando Dovale's culinary expertise. The dish is a delightful fusion of flavors, with perfectly cooked shrimp bathed in a zesty Mozambique sauce consisting of saffron, garlic, and olive oil. The combination of spices and the freshness of the shrimp creates a harmonious taste that lingers on the palate. In conclusion, Fernando's Dockside Grille has undoubtedly become a new favorite for me. The combination of delectable dishes, including the standout Sangria, Shrimp Mozambique, and an impressive array of fresh seafood, makes it a culinary destination worth revisiting. I highly recommend Fernando's to anyone seeking a great dining experience.

Yelp
Fernando's is a must stop when in PSL. This is a quaint little place near the dockside with outdoor seating. During the summer months the outdoor seating isn't used due to the bugs in the area. When I go to Fernando's I don't even look at the menu. I go for one item. The Salmon Madeira. The salmon sits on top of a pineapple. The salmon is topped with sweet, honey glazed almonds and finished with a balsamic vinegar. Potatoes and asparagus are the sides. It's my absolute favorite. Other recommended dishes are the monkfish and sea bass.

Yelp
We arrived at 6pm & they sat us outside. We expected to see some type of water-view but unfortunately you couldn't see anything. The couple near us order fish & within minutes the flies & mosquitoes were out. I told the waitress we did not want to eat outside & she was annoyed and rude. Finally after telling her we weren't going to dine outside anymore she got us a table & told us we need to be done in an hour. She needs an attitude adjustment quick. The food is perfectly presented. The veal Marsala was a little to salty & I've had better veal. The salmon wasn't cooked well done & way to many almonds for our likings. The service was way to long for us.

Yelp
Have gone there multiple times twice with guests out of town. The most elegant, delicious and memorable dining establishment in the area. Will be returning soon. Who can we bring this time?

Yelp
While staying in Port St. Lucie, we decided to try Fernando's & we weren't disappointed! It was a warm evening with a cool breeze. Our server was delightful & although we didn't have a reservation & the restaurant was very busy, he quickly found a nice table. We started with a generous glass of wine & a delicious sangria. Followed up with an entree of pork with little necks in a yummy sauce with roasted potatoes, etc. It was enough for two .. tons of pork, a dozen little necks in the shell & lots of potatoes, so I took the rest home. My friend had a chicken & shrimp, etc. entree which he really enjoyed. We kind of missed not having a vegetable, but our choices were wonderful. Highly recommend Fernando's!

Yelp
Ah, Fernando', and one could add "Hideaway," as it is not so easy to find. But once you're there, forget the mercury and have the swordfish: delicious, cooked perfectly, with just a teaspoon of a sauce I could not identify but which I would swig by the bottle. Service is prompt, reasonably attentive without being annoying, and the winelist is intriguing. Skip the "outdoor dining" option, because you will have a view of the parking lot only.

Natalie S.

Yelp
Great food, and great service. The atmosphere and layout of the restaurant was different.

Yelp
The service was perfect, but the food was definitely amazing. The sea bass was superb and the chicken topped with shrimp simply delicious. The dessert tarts were the best combination to finish our lunch. I would recommend this place and we'll be back for sure.

Yelp
The food here is ok at best and it's been there for years so they must be doing somthing tight, but I don't think I would go back? Thanks Doug

Yelp
Wonderful meal of veal with a luscious wine and mushroom sauce. The service was fantastic and the food felt like it was made with love.

Yelp
Always delicious food and great service. One of our favorite restaurants. Shrimp Mozambique is amazing. Steak Portuguese, Chicken Mara Monte, Bifanas Portuguese are all delicious as well as the red and white sangrias are great. Another must try is the Pastel De Nata for dessert. Omg. Soo good. Love the quaint interior. Reservations recommended as there's not a lot of interior tables, but there is a nice outside dining area also.

Randy S.

Yelp
At Fernando's with friends. This is a small family Portuguese, and Mediterranean restaurant. Tonight we started with a Caprese salad comprising of vine, ripe tomatoes with fresh mozzarella cheese with fire, roasted peppers at a pesto vinaigrette that was just delicious. I then had the pork with little necks, which was hot marinated tenderloin to pork and fried Yukon gold potatoes with little neck clams, and the savory sauce that was just yummy, my wife had the Seabass, which was also nice big piece of bass with potatoes and asparagus that she loved. if you haven't been here, I suggest you try it. It really is a great place.

Yelp
Great food and great drinks . Service was fast and courteous. Easy to get a seat and was greeted within seconds of sitting

Yelp
Enjoyed (could have a few improvements though). Reservations at 7.30....seated shortly there after. Sardines. Kinda fishy. Probably should have sent them back, but we didn't. 4 of us..the girls wouldn't touch em. Caesar Salad: Enjoyed but nothing to write home about. I ordered the chicken w sundried tomato. It was fantastic. Had my leftovers the day after and I was really looking forward to it. Wine: They had a special on a certain bottle that night...it was actually the bottle of wine already on the table. While it was decent I would have preferred a bottle come out of the a wine chiller (needed to be a hint cooler). Overall a good experience.

Arthur G.

Yelp
Food was good..not exceptional. Most disappointing was the description on the website that the restaurant was adjacent to water. I called asked to be seated outside near the water and was told that would not be a problem. When I arrived at the restaurant I could not find any water. I looked all over and finally started walking around and went about 15 feet from our outdoor table and looked over 6 ft bushes and saw water. No way you could see water while dining.
google avatar

William B.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Corkage fee was reasonable and the service was excellent. We ate inside, but there are tables outside. Restaurant is on the water, but there's no view of the water from any of the tables.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended by someone who heard me ask someone else for their favorite fish restaurant in town. It's so close to home for me, and sort of hidden, I would not have noticed it there but it's a beautiful location near the water with great ambiance inside the restaurant. The service was great, friendly, efficient servers who were very attentive towards the guests. Our food came out in really good timing, house wine I had was great as well as my husbands beer choice. I had the salmon served over a perfectly grilled pineapple, topped with a honey glaze and almonds, the side was roasted potatoes and asparagus. DELICIOUS! Every single bite! I loved all the flavors especially in the vegetables! The portion is perfect. We were given warm perfectly toasty bread rolls while we waited and between that and the dish, I was so full I couldn't do desert! My husband had steak that came topped with a gravy and while he's never had steak cooked that way, he loved it. All the flavors complimented each other. The pricing is very fair, I thought it would be pricier but not at all. The decor definitely goes with the menu. Super cute and great place for a nice, relaxed dinner or lunch. I can not wait to go back!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Unfriendly and rude staff. Overpriced, for what it is. Users way too much oil On many his dishes. Cheap table cloth for what they think is an upscale dining experience. Save your money and look for many other options.

Yelp
I went here for my birthday dinner. We must have timed it right cause as soon as we got our table, people started to come in. We were seated and greeted by our server to take our drink order and told the specials. The atmosphere of the place is nice, with Italian accents with linen tablecloths and napkins. We chatted a bit as the drinks were served and asked if their were any questions. I ordered a delicious dish off the menu and suggested sides. All the dishes are made to order and worth the wait. That gave me a chance to socialize with my party. The server was attentive and checked in with us if we needed anything. The food was served, the food was appetizing to the eye and the sense of smell. The chicken was tender and juicy with the sauce to enhance the flavor. The asparagus and potatoes was cooked just right, firm but tender. I was glad they served dinner rolls with the meal, i am a "slop up the gravy" kind of person. I cleaned up that plate, noting left, Exocet the flower...lol It was a little pricey, but the food and experience was worth it.

Yelp
Again, a disappointing experience. Three days before reservation, called to confirm availability of Mariscada, Portuguese seafood stew. "Yes, " was response. Arrived for 6:00 reservation last night and told not available because of lobster cost. Ordered octopus dinner but was told it was sold out. Restaurant only opened an hour earlier. Cannot rely on menu on website or on menu at restaurant. Settled for bronzino that was excellent. Very limited wine selection. Second time experienced unavailability of listed menu items. I'm done with this restaurant.

Yelp
Food, service and ambiance were so-so. I don't know why this restaurant gets so many rave reviews We were hungry when we arrived. We didn't t have a reservation & the hostess smirked and slightly rolled her eyes at us and told us rudely to wait outside even when there was plenty of room to wait inside where we were standing You know how they saying goes "hunger is the best sauce in the world?" Well hunger didn't work because my husband's Portuguese steak was very rubbery and salty, the only side that came with the $28 rubber was thinly sliced potatoes I almost always love all mussels I order from any restaurant because I love it. Not at this restaurant. The seasoning combination is just blah Who doesn't love freshly baked bread? I was so relieved that they give complimentary rolls because we were starving, but the rolls were so mediocre. My local Publix bakes better bread than this restaurant My server was nice, which sort of made up for the rude hostess last night (saturday). I hope the owner sees this review and has a word with the hostess

Yelp
Not diversified enough. Wings were meh as an appetizer. Not open very long so you feel rushed if you come in after 7. Very disappointed!

Yelp
Food here is delicious! Great flavor and super fresh. Staff is very friendly. Will be returning once in town again. There is nothing like this in NY

Yelp
Amazing location with waterside tables, excellent professional staff and great food. They have it all.

Kathy W.

Yelp
Unfortunately the food was just so-so, prices were pretty hefty and very little ambience. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Hungry R.

Yelp
Great food, amazing atmosphere casual Portuguese food at its best, best fresh fish around. Service 10/10
google avatar

Yelp
Try the bronzino. Try the Portuguese Pork with littlenecks. Try the chicken Cognac. Chef Fernando is super nice. Will make his rounds when the hustle and bustle settles down. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Very delicious Portuguese and Mediterranean food. Highly recommend their mussels. 5 stars. Great service, and great ambiance. Go!

Kalvin K.

Yelp
Came here for some Portuguese cuisine after some subpar food elsewhere. This place is a gem in PSL - not being from the area we wanted something and used Yelp to find this place. It is kind of hidden in a courtyard but it's a very quaint restaurant. The cuisine here is Portuguese and Italian. An interesting Union, I know. I opted for the octopus dish which was super tasty. Our table started with some PEI mussels cooked with some chorizo. Super test too! Would recommend this spot for anyone who wants something different.
google avatar

Karen F.

Yelp
So much hype about this restaurant, definitely not good. I'm not a fan of restaurants that describe a meal one way on the menu and then serve it leaving out half the ingredients. I ordered the octopus dish which is supposed to have olives and onions in it, mine did not. It was tasteless. I could not catch the waiter's attention, he never came back to the table, so I could not tell him. I caught another server's attention and mentioned to her there were no olives in it, she brought me over a bowl of cold black olives with pits in them? Pretty sure that's now how this is supposed to be served.

Yelp
Note: our visit was on March 14th First time here and enjoyed our visit. Food was very good. Hubby got the grilled octopus and it was expertly grilled - not tough at all. A few other folks at nearby tables ordered it as well and seemed to really enjoy it. I got a chicken entree that was quite good as well. The meal was five star worthy but the customer service and dining room layout was not as I would have expected. While they were not very busy when we arrived, we were taken to a section that was very cramped. I could hear every single word the couple next to us said. The waitstaff seemed like they all hated each other that day - nobody seemed to smile and were rather curt with customers.

Erica I.

Yelp
My food was good and my groups food looked good but my friend was seriously sick after eating the fish and I wasn't impressed with the service. Our waiter came to the table twice and didn't refill 3 drinks that were completely empty. One of the servers told us he wouldn't serve us one of the items on the menu because they would be closed for the next two days and it the rest of the portion would go bad by then and they wouldn't be able to sell it all by the end of the night? Maybe a little bit of customer service training? The food came out pretty fast and presentation was great so maybe you should give it a try?

Suzanne W.

Yelp
Great food, especially if you like Portuguese food!! One of the best Portuguese restaurants around. A bit pricey, but a nice place for special occasions! Great food, Ambience and service!!

Yelp
My fiancé and I were blown away with our lunch experience last week. I had seen multiple menus and great reviews so we headed in. We were given menus and these seemed to be missing some of the other menu items I had seen...my fiancé doesn't eat seafood and can be rather picky, so we almost left but thankfully we spoke with our server regarding the menu and he said they'd be able to make almost anything. With that we ordered a penne ala vodka with grilled chicken for my fiancé along with the mussels appetizer and sea bass entree for myself. The penne was one of the best I've had anywhere! Creamy, rich, perfectly prepared and seasoned with little pieces of delicious pancetta...absolutely delicious! The mussels were so tender and cooked to perfection. Every single one was opened and the sauce was so tasty! I've never had a sauce like it before, and I intend to have it many more times! The sea bass was excellent as well...delicate yet meaty with a lovely sauce accompanied by mixed vegetables and small whole potatoes. I enjoyed this dish very much. We splurged for their desserts as well and again we were very impressed; the raspberry lemon layer cake was amazing. Both flavors are prominent with a delicious and moist cake. The chocolate bombe was incredible; decadent, rich, and creamy yet light and fluffy... The service isn't slow, but rather allows the perfect amount of time between courses and time to enjoy your company/conversation. I am blanking on the waiter's name, but it seems he is a head waiter and has been there for 8 years. He is excellent at his job, with knowledge on the entire menu and is very pleasant to converse with. This man brings together the entire vibe of the restaurant while serving excellent dishes. I honestly cannot wait to go back and try some of their other offerings!

Yelp
We went to Fernando's with high hopes. My husband and I both started out with a big salad, great portion and reasonable price. Next he had the Sea Bass, I had the Salmon topped with crab, I believe. In order to really enjoy Portuguese food you have to like thick sauces, we don't. The portion size for the main course was very generous as well. I wish I could say that we really enjoyed it but we didn't. The service was good and the ambiance nice. I was also told the owner comes to each table and greets his guest, he did not greet our table of 12,
