"Despite being in landlocked Pittsburgh, everything at Fet-Fisk tastes like the sea. Chef-owner Nik Forsberg transformed a red sauce spot in working-class Bloomfield into what can only be described as a vibey basement party at grandma’s house. The bar is aglow in Lynchian red lights while, in the dining room, wine is served out of a vintage wooden hutch. Artfully plated Scandi-modern dishes are served on flowery china and frilly placemats. These oxymoronic traits somehow harmonize perfectly inside Fet-Fisk, where nothing feels like a mishmash — especially not the menu, which leans Scandinavian in all its cured, acidic glory. Take the pickled mackerel, a textural dream, with flaky fish served on a bed of firm smoked beets and finely shredded cabbage. The luscious rye cavatelli, laced with oyster mushrooms, tarragon, and fermented tomato, is made in-house. So is the nutty farmer’s cheese, whose whey acts as the brine for the humble roasted chicken, resulting in incredibly crackly skin and a succulent center. The cocktail menu is also full of depth: Dulse seaweed dirties up a martini and fernet adds an herbaceous kick to an after-dinner tea. After years of dining out, it’s easy to think that you’ve tried every iteration of chicken, dirty martini riff, and piece of crudo your tiny fork can handle. But this Rust Belt restaurant delights with rarified twists on the classics. Like postindustrial cities throughout the country, Fet-Fisk reminds us that there’s beauty in blending the old and new. — Jess Mayhugh, managing editor" - Eater Staff

"Fet Fisk, Pittsburgh’s buzziest new opening of 2024, debuted in March in a former Italian restaurant space in Bloomfield. Nik Forsberg, who landed a 2023 James Beard award semifinalist nod while operating Fet Fisk as a pop-up, helms the kitchen, offering a seasonal, Scandinavian-influenced lineup of dishes like pickled mackerel with smoked beets and seafood salad. The juicy roasted chicken with lingonberry sauce is a must." - Melissa McCart, Hal B. Klein

Food was amazing. Top 3 meal of all time. Waited two months for the reservation and it ended up being great. I was so happy with everything. The place is cozy and laid back like they say. The waitresses at the restaurant all help each other and they do there job very well. Highly recommend this place to anyone.

Solid food & drinks! Our favourite was the roasted half chicken and the Canada Cup oysters, but everything was good! For everything we got (food + 3 cocktails) it was $203 after tax (before tip). Service was pretty efficient, especially for a Saturday evening. Would recommend!

We recently visited Fet-Fisk during a date night on a Monday. It was difficult to get reservations. We had to book about a month out.. It was definitely worth it! We started out with the chicken wings with caviar. They were very crispy and flavorful. We loved the dill creme frache that they came with. Then we ordered the mussels, which might have been better than our favorite mussel restaurant in town (Park Brugge). After that, we ordered the radiccio salad. I am not a huge fan of radiccio, but my wife likes it. The dressing was great! I believe it was mustard based. Finally, for our entrees, I ordered the roasted half chicken. I normally don't order chicken at restaurants, but I was told by numerous people, including our waiter, that it was fantastic. They were correct! Probably some of the best chicken I have had at a restaurant. My wife ordered the tye mushroom Cavalli. It was also very good. This might be our new favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh. Can't wait to come back!

Google
Fet Fisk is easily one of my favorite restaurants all year!!! SO glad they're in Pittsburgh! We ordered the grav-lox, cavatelli, carrots, chicken, and Panna cotta - everything was so amazing, bursting with flavor! My favorite dishes were the cavatell, carrots, and chicken, the chicken is an absolute must, so so so delicious!! The staff was so incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and accommodating!! The prices were incredibly reasonable for the caliber of flavors, ingredients, and cooking - I'm obsessed and absolutely plan to return!!! I highly highly recommend Fet Fisk for a seasonal menu with some of the best bites in all of PA!!

Google
Incredible meal, outstanding service, cool vibe. Scallops were fresh, perfectly cooked chicken, and the best Panna cotta I've ever had. I asked the server for pairings and they were all perfect. First time having a Pinela and loved it. I wish I was there with someone to try more. It was a last minute decision to eat here and really only stumbled upon it. So glad I found it! Definitely worth a visit. Make a reservation or get there when they open to sit at the bar.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at FET-FISK, and it’s safe to say this was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Having dined here twice before, it has become our go-to restaurant for special celebrations as a couple. This visit, however, was truly unforgettable—not just because of the incredible food, but also because of the warmth and thoughtfulness of the staff. When our lovely server asked if we were celebrating anything other than Valentine’s Day, my partner jokingly mentioned we were commemorating the 5th anniversary of the *Sonic the Hedgehog* movie. Our server not only laughed along with us but even engaged in a fun conversation about the movie, which set the tone for a night filled with joy and connection. The meal itself was nothing short of spectacular. We started with what might be the best steak tartare in the entire region, followed by entrees of Branzino, Cavatelli pasta, and a side of focaccia with their exquisite oil and tomato balsamic. Each dish was beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor. The cocktails complemented the meal perfectly, and we finished with desserts of cake and panna cotta, both of which were divine. But the real cherry on top came when our server brought out the final check along with two blue lemon drop shots to celebrate the *Sonic* movie anniversary. It was such a thoughtful and unexpected touch that left us smiling from ear to ear. This wasn’t just a meal; it was an experience we’ll be talking about for years to come. As someone who recently lost their job (don’t worry, we saved specifically for this meal), I can confidently say that every penny spent was worth it. Dining out at this level isn’t something we do often, but FET-FISK consistently delivers an experience that feels special and memorable. For around $100 per person, we walked away feeling completely satisfied—not just with the food, but with the entire evening. On a more personal note, the Branzino dish transported me to a place I rarely visit mentally in the United States. It reminded me of a childhood memory from the Philippines, where I spent time in my parents’ village. I vividly recall my uncle buying fresh fish from a fisherman who roamed the streets with a cart, ringing a bell to announce his catch. He fried the fish right outside, and the taste was transcendent—plump, fresh, and infused with the essence of the sea. In the U.S., I’ve never encountered seafood that brought me back to that memory so vividly—until I had the Branzino at FET-FISK. The fish was perfectly seasoned, plump, and so fresh that I could almost taste the brine of the seawater. It was a rare and emotional experience, especially in a city like Pittsburgh, where seafood of that quality is hard to come by. To share such a profound and personal moment with the love of my life, at our favorite restaurant, on Valentine’s Day weekend, while celebrating something as whimsical as the *Sonic the Hedgehog* movie anniversary, was truly magical. It was a night of joy, nostalgia, and connection during what has otherwise been a challenging time in our lives. Bravo to the chef, the bar, and the wait staff. You’ve created something truly special at FET-FISK, and you deserve all the acclaim and more. Thank you for an unforgettable evening.

Unique place. It’s clearly aspiring for something great, and it’s def on the way. It’s stated to be Nordic, but I personally see more varied European influence, often Eastern European. Perhaps it’s simply the use of fish that makes it Nordic. I’d say it’s more creative experimental Eastern European food (and other European) - but centered on mostly fish. Flavors are often intense, sharp, and sour. Think vinegars, pickled etc. things are most often quite unique for the city or even a larger city. They also nicely blended a ‘high art’ restaurant feel w the genuineness of roots Pittsburgh. That was cool and noticed Here are the critiques. In general it feels the chef is earlier in his food journey. Clearly has talent and exploration and getting to unique quality. But - the food is not yet Fully matured and refined - in the context of a world class restaurant, which I get the sense they are aspiring to be. The last critique - and this is a larger theme. But a lot of great restaurants are now run by suburban millennial males raised on American suburban food. Think chef boy r d, Hamburger helper, etc. At particular times, the food here can lean toward this background. It’s still great, but the roots are felt. Dianoia’s in the strip has the same syndrome. In sum, for sure try this place, especially if you are a foodie or into creative new stuff. This place has the spirit and mindset of a restaurant that could be world class with some further deeper growth learning and exploration. I’m rootin for them

Google
I'd been eying this place for a while, but when NYT put it on their top 50 I figured I had to jump in while I could still get a reservation. First off, service was probably the best I've ever had. Tress was an amazing server, made me feel welcome, guided me through the menu, gave great recommendations, and was very on top of things despite the number of tables. Cocktails were probably the biggest miss, though admittedly I only had the "bitter". Just a bit muddled and indistinct in terms of flavor profile: generically ok, but not really focused. I did enjoy the large vermouth and spirits selection afterwards, would definitely recommend trying some straight amaro/vermouths instead. Favorite dish was the chanterelles with lingonberry sauce. Seriously, I would come back just for this, and I would love to bottle the sauce somehow. Pickled mackerels were a close second. I really enjoyed the contrast of the funky brine with the char from the quick sear. The mussels were really good too, and I'd highly recommend taking their suggestion and adding a half order of rye foccacia like I did so that the broth doesn't go to waste. I went with small plates, so the value isn't as good, but I can't really complain about what I got outside of the cocktail. If I were here longer, I'd come back a second time and probably try the cavatelli or the branzino, but skip the drinks. Definitely recommend this place if you like seafood or nordic flavors!

Yelp
All the fire emojis!!! Went for the first time last night with a friend, walked in around 9 pm and sat in the cozy, chilled bar area. Friend ordered an oyster shooter, I stuck with Miller High Life #nice. We got the mussels, button mushrooms, and the whole branzino. The mussels and button mushrooms were excellent, but the branzino was the best piece of fish I've had in years, maybe ever. We got the chocolate mousse cake for dessert, which slapped. The server was helpful and fun to chat with, apparently he also had cooking experience. I put him on picanha #also nice. Will definitely return to explore more of this fantastic menu.

Yelp
Gonna start out and say if you don't know what Nordic food is then do your research before going here. If you're a picky eater you'll be very picky here but they do have a steak option. If you're up for trying new things then def come here !! I went very very traditional and got the whole grilled branzino so I can get my hands ripping apart fish and the steak tartare. The fish was a little overcooked but seasoned well and paired phenomenally with the butter. The steak quality was top notch, flavored will and delicious with the chips Our waitress was a doll and super helpful in explaining everything on the menu to our entire party The inside was superrrr dim, and I do wish they had a brother light for the table. It was sunny out and that glaring into the dark restaurant made me wish I had sunglasses on

Yelp
I was so excited to try this place, and, man, did it exceed the hype! So delicious! Moody, unique vibe and excellent service made for a top-notch dinner. We started with the rye focaccia and the sturgeon pate. The focaccia was fantastic. Perfect rye flavor and the dipping oil... I don't know what was in it, but I was scooping it with a spoon when the bread was gone (not couth but no shame). The pate was the surprise of the night. I've never ordered pate, but something made me want to order it. I know sturgeon was in it, but I don't know about the rest. Whatever is in it is absolutely delicious! I ate the whole thing. Put some capers and shallots on the seeded cracker with pate... you'll have a moment of pure flavor ecstasy. For the main course I had trout. The skin was crispy, salty, and tasty. The sauce was excellent - dill, capers, herbs, oil, nuts, flavor and more flavor! Incredibly flaky. My wife loved her half chicken ... so much so I only got one bite! I can tell when she loves something- she doesn't share. The apples the chicken came with were a burst of good sweetness. The carrots were an excellent side - shareable and tasty. I don't remember all of the seasoning, but I got hints of honey, oats, herbs, and flaky salt. These are a must-get. We had English walnut cake to finish, and it was remarkable. The dish was ginger and nutmeg forward, which left me with an insatiable desire for another piece. It was fall/winter deliciousness on a plate! I really wanted Fet-Fisk to live up to the hype, and it was more than amazing. We have a return trip on the books!

Yelp
My first time at FET-FISK. We were lucky enough to find an open reservation in the Lounge on a Friday evening. The service was prompt, friendly, and very accommodating. The low red lighting in the lounge provided an interesting ambiance (but did make reading the menu a little difficult for my old eyes ). The oysters were excellent and the shareable plates provided an opportunity to explore the menu. I'm excited to return and try a seat at a table in the dining room.

Amanda B.

Yelp
I went here for a girl's night out, which it's the perfect spot for! The ambiance is charming and chic, with dim lighting and eclectic decor. We were happy with the service too, with our waitress helping us narrow down our selection from an overwhelmingly great sounding menu. The staff is definitely very familiar with the food, so I recommend leaning on them for suggestions if you're indecisive like us! We ended up choosing 6-7 small plates and 1 larger dish, which was the perfect amount of food for our group of 3. Everything we had was very good, with some of the standouts for me being the beef carpaccio, the caviar, the wings with caviar (a Monday night special), and the gremolata on our fish entree (one of the yummiest I've had!). I really enjoyed my white Negroni too (one of my favorite cocktails and coincidentally everyplace I've been that offers them has also had great food). Overall, it was a great dining experience and I cannot wait to return!

Yelp
We were curious to try this restaurant due to its ranking on the NYT Restaurant List of 2024. The reservations seemed fully booked, but we set alerts on Resy and were able to snag one that same week. It appears they do take walk-ins though, but there might be a wait. Very nondescript from the outside, it just says Bar and Restaurant outside. Decent amount of tables and seating inside. Really like the ambiance, feels eclectic. A non-stuffy nice restaurant. The waiter walked us through the menu and we asked for suggestions. He mentioned the pickled mackerel and the ora king salmon gravlax are two of the best appetizers that really showcase what the restaurant is all about. We decided to take a bit of a risk and tried the pickled mackerel, not having much familiarity with mackerel. Going to be honest, I really didn't like it. It was very fishy and not in a good way, and this is coming from someone who loves seafood. The flavor was just hard to get past and I couldn't eat much of it. I did like the beets and cabbage underneath. The steak tartare was the safer appetizer that we got. It was served with a row of crispy potato chips and an egg yolk on top. Pretty good, but not the best we've had. Also served with a lot of horseradish on top, which I do like but I think it would be best served off to the side so you can control how much you want to add. Maybe we just made the mistake of mixing it all in. We also got the rye focaccia. I read so many rave reviews, and was a little underwhelmed. The bread wasn't served warm and the foccaccia wasn't that great. What was more interesting was the tomato "balsamic" that comes with it, but we would have liked more of it. Too much bread to sauce ratio. For mains, we got the rye cavatelli and steelhead trout filet. We got the cavatelli without the cheese as we're dairy-free. The pasta was interesting because of the rye, never had a rye pasta before. I really liked the umami flavor because of the mushrooms inside, could have done without the apple inside but still an interesting choice. The trout was also delicious and flavorful. Crispy skin. The mains were more of a standout to me than the appetizers. For cocktails, my boyfriend got a seasonal one - Blood Moon Martini. It has a vibrant red color because of the beets, and also has a mild beet aftertaste. It was interesting and good! I got the "bitter" house cocktail. I honestly didn't love it, it was more sweet than it was bitter in my opinion. Some hits, some misses. But overall, lots of interesting and unique dishes you won't find at many other places. Everything has a beautiful presentation and is well thought out. Good service here too.

Yelp
This restaurant is an amazing addition to dining and craft cocktails in Pittsburgh. The menu is fish forward but don't let that deter you from trying it. The service was really personable and done at exactly the right pace. We tasted a few wines to select the perfect complement to our meals but started with two of their unique cocktails - the lime Aromatic and the white Negroni featuring Aquavit liquor. They were both fabulous and not sweet. Our starter was the sturgeon pate with fresh crispy seeded crackers, onions and capers that was out of this world good. We also really enjoyed the King Salmon Gravlax with the fluffiest, most airy, egg & butter accompaniment that's really hard to describe but was so unusual and delicious. The grilled cabbage caesar salad with anchovies was super creative and delectable as was the steelhead trout with almond butter sauce and those yummy pan roasted chanterelles with lingonberries. We also tried the Rye Focaccia bread with the very tasty tomato balsamic and olive oil dip. It was really one of the best meals we've had in a very long time. A neat 2oz pour of their cynar amaro was the perfect way to end this feast.

Reena D.

Yelp
Thank you, Robin from next door for recommending Fet-Fisk for dinner! This was one of the best meals I've had and I'm really upset I didn't have someone with me to share so I could try more dishes. Since I didn't have a reservation, I was told to head over at that moment, as they were opening in 5 minutes, and ask to sit at the bar. Robin said there is often a line to get in. This is the first time I've had to wait in line to dine at a restaurant. BUT if I didn't, I would not have had a seat at the bar. The place got packed within 10 minutes! It has a lounge/romantic/reminiscent-of-times-past kind of feel. Loved it. The menu changes regularly so I can see why locals go often. The food is OUTSTANDING!! I started with a glass of Pinela from Slovenia, recommended by the server. OMG, another new-to-me white that I loved! I had the scallops crudo and they were so delicate and clean and tasty. I think pear is a great complement. I moved on to the half chicken, which was the most perfectly cooked chicken I've had. That's not easy. It was delicious but I could not finish it. And I'd be scared to lose that perfect doneness by reheating leftovers. I asked for something to pair well with this and was given a glass of Chinon cabernet-franc. Another great find! DESSERT WAS THE BEST PART!! This buttermilk Panna cotta is the only way I ever want to eat Panna cotta again. It was so creamy, perfect sweetness, and with cava poached pear! I paired a bit of the Vermouth with this and it was spot on! I will go back to Pittsburgh to eat here! And their chef was nominated for a James Beard award. You can't go wrong with this place. Make a reservation, and then go back when the menu changes.

Yelp
OK, so I just HAD to come back and do a menu tour with the family tonight - my sample earlier in the week was just so delicious! Happy to report that it was once again EXCELLENT. Everything was perfect - obtaining a reservation (Resy), adding a 5th member (my brother) to our party at the last minute (thank you SO much, folks! ), our wait staff (everyone friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and super professional), the comfortable chairs and background music that was pleasant but not too loud, and the FOOD... the FOOD!!!! I asked our server if we could do a tapas style meal, and they timed everything so perfectly for us - it was awesome: Chapter 1 - 8 oysters, onion dip, king salmon gravlax Chapter 2 - king salmon gravlax, beef tartare, chanterelles, pickled mackerel Chapter 3 - their AMAZING shaved watermelon salad Chapter 4 - (2) steelhead trout and (2) späetzle Chapter 5 - chocolate mousse torte and beet red velvet cake Drinks were on point as well - I'm a HUGE fan of their "House Tonic" and the kids loved the lingonberry fizz. Yes, it was a TON of food, and the place was super busy, so we are GRATEFUL for their efforts to provide such an astounding experience for our family like this. We probably could have abridged the meal a little bit, but wanted to try as many things as possible! One thing's for certain - the beating heart of FET-FISK is the amazing crew - from the Chef and kitchen staff, the bar staff, the wait staff, and the front of house folks - all on point and pros. They set the tone and comfortable ambiance perfectly so that the delicious food is showcased properly - and the experience is superb. MUST TRY - Do NOT miss this place. We are SO looking forward to seeing how the menu changes with the seasons. Bravo!!!

Jayme B.

Yelp
A friend and I had dinner at Fet-Fisk last night. We were able to snag a same day reservation on Resy for 8 pm. The place is nice and cozy and all of the staff were so kind and friendly. We each started with a glass of wine (red for me, orange for my friend). Our server stated that a lot of people just order a few items and share them so that's what we did. We ordered the grilled cabbage Caesar, the trout, the skirt steak, and a side of fries. Out of everything I ate last night, the skirt steak with lobster hollandaise was by far the best. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare and that hollandaise had excellent lobster flavor. I'm still dreaming about it. I didn't get a photo of the fries but they came with mayo and ketchup and both sauces appeared to be house made which was cool. Overall, our experience was great. I will be back for that steak alone! lol

Annika D.

Yelp
Very inventive takes on seafood. Loved the elevated casual ambiance and happy to see an exciting new business in Bloomfield! Service was extremely friendly and attentive. Drinks were the only thing that didn't wow, were standard.

Julia B.

Yelp
Fet-Fisk is an absolute hidden gem right in the heart of Bloomfield. From the outside, you would have no idea of the fine dining they serve as the restaurant boasts no sign and has super tinted windows. When you step inside, however, the ambiance feels like you are in a Nordic grandmother's house (and I mean that in the best, coziest way). The food is absolutely amazing - I would recommend going with a group to try as much as possible. They serve a daily selection of oysters, so of course we had to start with those! We followed that up with the pickled mackerel (a must order - the fish was firm & delicious & the smoked beet sauce paired with it was amazing), king salmon gravlax, & beef tartare. For entrees, we shared three: the whole grilled branzino, the trout fillet, and the half chicken. All of the food was amazing, but the sauces on the trout & chicken really stood out. Service was knowledgeable & friendly, and our waitress answered all of our menu questions. The only downside to the restaurant was the absolutely bizarre espresso martinis. They try to make them way too ~unique~ and they ended up tasting extremely sour & honestly quite off putting. This is a first for me to say, but I would order anything off the menu EXCEPT the espresso martinis. The other cocktails were much better, as was the wine list. Despite the weird ending, however, I would 100% go back to Fet-Fisk. Food: A+ Drinks: B- Service: A Ambiance: A-

Julie Anna E.

Yelp
Extraordinary spot! Absolutely loved everything about this place. The food was superb. I don't have a single complaint about anything. The service was magnificent, our waitress was so friendly and knowledgeable. The standouts for the food for me were the mussels, caviar, and the whole branzino- but everything else was great too. The branzino is a full fish with bones and our waitress was kind enough to help us fillet it. It was fantastic. It came with the most delicious seaweed butter and pickled celery which I loved. The wine selection here was nice, and every glass I tried was lovely and paired nicely with the food. I almost want to gatekeep this place because it's so hard to get a reservation now. I'm going back end of December and can't wait! A must try

Jessica H.

Yelp
Our second time dining here and we love it. Simple dishes and everything is super tasty and well made. We got two glasses of wine and we enjoy the vibe there. We didn't have a reservation but were able to get a seat by the window. Service has been great both times so we'll definitely be back!

Liz G.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible experience. From the service, the food, the drinks -- I couldn't have asked for a better experience! This spot definitely lives up the hype. For starters, our server was amazing. Attentive, quick, super personable and friendly. When we told her it was our wedding anniversary she brought over complementary champagne, which was definitely not expected, but so thoughtful and obviously, appreciated. I really wanted to try an orange wine off of their menu, but had never had an orange wine before so I told her what I typically like and she made a great recommendation which I definitely enjoyed. My husband got their special punch cocktail and then enjoyed a white Negroni afterwards. We decided to skip entrées and instead, share many small plates. The items we tried were: - Crispy buttermilk fried chicken wings (Monday special) - Classic steak tartare - Grilled cabbage Caesar salad - Pan roasted chanterelles - Steamed Hollander mussels - Rye focaccia - French fried potatoes Everything and I mean everything, was incredible. I would order everything again, and then some. You have to visit this spot!

Raquel Lynn H.

Yelp
An absolute top tier experience. The caviar was to die for and some of the best mussels I've ever had. I also felt for the price it was on par for what you got and also the beverages were very fairly priced. I can't believe I've never made it here before and can't wait to come back again

Kaylie W.

Yelp
FET-FISK is one of my picks for best new restaurants in Pittsburgh. Absolutely blew my mind. I'm not a huge fan of Scandinavian food, but FET-FISK adds its own unique touch to it. I loved how they took a classic Scandinavian menu, with details such as using lingonberries, and revived it with masterful cooking. I'm specifically thinking about the whole chicken. It was extremely tender, and I don't think I've had better chicken at a restaurant. Highly highly recommend. It was so good we booked a second reservation the night we went the first time. Compared to the chicken, the other dishes were less impressive but nonetheless still good. I'd recommend the steak tartare and Hollander mussels. The scallop crudo was good the first time, but it was a bit underwhelming the second time. The slices were very thin and the dish felt like there wasn't much substance to it. Oysters were also very small and a tad underwhelming. Fish was on the salty side, but that is my experience with Scandinavian food in general. The restaurant is also beautiful. Their decor gives elevated but casual European dining Ng vibes. Lots of intricate details seen around the restaurant and on the table set up.

David B.

Yelp
Remarkable dining at its best. Especially high honors for serving fish. Our Oysters and Fish Pate were both excellent. Good wine list, especially strong for white wines. We noticed some quaint touches, for example, the etched glass that once featured a large L for Lombordozi was rotated to represent an F. There is also a Last Supper painting that definitely points to the legendary former Italian restaurant at this spot But Fet Fisk explores Scandinavian cuisine and they do it well. Our server was passionate, knowledgeable, helpful, and attentive. Definitely on my top ten list for Pittsburgh. It may be difficult to get a reservation, so plan well in advance.

Xin F.

Yelp
This meal blew my mind and has set such high bar for any other Nordic inspired dishes that come my way. I'm glad I was able to snag a late reservation and try this place! My friend and I had a hard time deciding and had asked for recommendations from our server. We ended up decided to do land & sea. I would order everything again except the cheese & rice dumplings. It was slightly too cheesy and heavy for me. Our server was amazing and the ambiance is a little too dark. If you want a good picture, make sure you have an extra light with you. Highly recommend to check this place out even if you're local.

Amber F.

Yelp
Love when a new restaurant comes around that is as interesting and delicious as Fet Fisk Seafood lovers and cocktail queens unite for a delectably Nordic night out. The bar area is the perfect place for a date or night out with your crew, while the main dining room gives brighter and eclectic ship vibes. The food itself is (that soft branzino??? Yelp
I've been wanting to try FET-FISK since I found out they were a 2023 James Beard Award semi finalist and I was excited that they transitioned from a pop up to a restaurant recently in Bloomfield. I went with a few friends last week and we loved it! I've never really had Nordic food before (IKEA's cafeteria doesn't count lol) and this was a great introduction. My favorites were the roast half chicken, rye cavatelli, rice pudding, chocolate mousse cake, and the bubbly cocktail (with the adorable Swedish fish that makes it look like an aquarium). The service was friendly and they were great about letting grab a drink at the bar since I got there early and just moving my tab to the table. The ambiance is fairly no frills but still upscale and nice. Would absolutely go again!!

Yelp
Went to FET-FISK during their soft opening and I am so happy to say I have a new favorite spot in Pittsburgh! I have long anticipated this opening, after hearing raving reviews from my friends who went to some of their pop-ups. To start, the atmosphere is dark and cozy. We sat in the lounge area. Their cocktail menu is great, with some inventive options and also classics, all reasonably priced. They also have a vermouth menu if you're into that. The staff was knowledgeable and personable. They gave us some recommendations which we gladly took and did not regret. It felt very welcoming. Food highlights: - Pickled Mackerel: Probably my favorite I've ever had. Even if you don't like pickled mackerel (I love it) you may enjoy this. - Rye Focaccia: Salt flakes on top, served with olive oil and balsamic. Great appetizer to split while you make your way through the rest of the menu. Save some for the incredible sauces of other dishes. - Marinated Button Mushrooms: A surprising favorite. The horseradish and chili gives it some bite which we loved. The mushrooms come cold which surprised me at first. - Sourdough Spatzle: So simple but SO GOOD. Great side dish to our main entree. - Roast Half Chicken: Large portion so plan to split it. Cooked perfectly, loved the lingonberries and farmer's cheese. Yes, I know that is pretty much everything we got but they were truly all highlights. I can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. Love this new Nordic restaurant!

Yelp
I've been here more than 5 times, I'm happy to have lost count. If you're thinking about going to fet fisk, I have the answer for you. Go to fet fisk. The food is incredible, I've tried different menu items every time I've gone and enjoyed every experience. My favorites are the rye cavatelli (I get this every time, the sauce is unreal), then everything else. The bar area and the dining areas are very different vibes, both great

Yelp
This place was excellent!! It's a very cute spot that feels very homey in Bloomfield. They serve Nordic food and I was anxious about that at first, but we loved their drinks and food. I loved my cosmo, it was amazing and my friend loved her dirty martini. The space is pretty big and gets pretty busy even on a Monday. I definitely recommend getting a reservation but they also set aside some tables for walk in. If you go early, you can sit at the cute bar too! I love the mismatched plates aesthetic. The server was so nice and the manager came over to check in on us too which was sweet. Definitely get the bread. It is so good!! I loved their mussels and my friend loved her clams pasta dish. They had fried wings topped with caviar the Monday we went which was also excellent. I didn't love their chocolate mousse cake but I was also so full by the end of the meal!

Yelp
I hate to hype a place up. But... Fet Fisk is that spot. The flavors are unbelievable. I've been there 3 times in the last month. Gotta put them in my household budget line items. Because I'll def be back. My one complaint so far is the omission of a quality decaf espresso/americano. Good decaf products are very hard to find so I understand. For those of us who love an after dinner coffee with that delicious maple cake, but can't tolerate high caffeine, I really encourage the proprietors to source a good decaf. Otherwise, Fet Fisk is 5/5 and 10/10.

Yelp
Cool vibe -- like a Nordic ship! Food is amazing -- eclectic, tasty, and adequate! Do yourself a favor and get the mussels and chicken! We also had the cavatelli pasta which was delectable :) Service was outstanding -- efficient but not rushed.

Yelp
I can't think of a place that has been as hyped up as this one, so when my husband snagged a date night reservation here, I was excited to give it a try. The place is absolutely beautiful. I absolutely love that they kept a lot of the building's vibe from the former Italian restaurant. It's very sexy and hip inside, with lots of wood and texture and dim lighting. I was pleasantly surprised to see a nice selection of zero proof drinks and tried the phony Negroni, which tasted legit. We also received a complimentary Pathfinder at the end of our meal, which was a nice touch. I have to say though... the food was the lowlight of our experience. We ordered three dishes: the morels, sourdough spaetzle, and steak with lobster hollandaise. Morels: I've never had this dish before so don't have a whole lot of context to judge this by. This was the dish we enjoyed most, but the flavor of anise within the sauce was overpowering. The first few bites were good but then it was too much. Spaetzle; loved the texture here and the sauce was rich but too salty! Steak: basically inedible due to how salty it was. My husband asked our server if everything is usually this salty and she said yes, but she'd relay the message to the kitchen. When she came to clean our dishes, it was less than half-eaten and she did not ask about it further or inquire if everything was okay. Service: highs and lows - she seemed knowledgeable and friendly, but aside from not seeming to care that our steak was inedible, she didn't check back to see if we wanted another drink. I see we are a major outlier re: the food, so maybe the kitchen had an off night and someone spilled the salt shaker on accident. But for us, this place is def a drinks only place going forward.

Yelp
We showed up at our reservation time and were greeted and seated immediately. The ambiance was awesome. A gorgeous dining hall, lounge and bar area with an artistic and pleasant decoration. A great place for a date. We ordered oysters, pickled fish, salad, trout, and chicken. Also, peach cake and chocolate mousse for dessert. All were amazing. I specially recommend the steelhead trout. Peach cake was ok but the chocolate mousse was scrumptious. The service was friendly and timely. We enjoyed our visit.

Yelp
There's a reason why this restaurant got on the NYT America's Best Restaurant 2024" list. Having lived in LA for awhile, this is some of the best food I've had in Pittsburgh. It serves Nordic fare which is a rare find. I highly recommend the caesar salad, spaetzl side and the trout trout trout! So flavorful, pan fried with capers. I recommend the trout over the branzino. It's worth going on a Monday to have their chicken wings special with trout caviar and herbed crème fraiche! Highly recommend this sleek and quaint gem in Bloomfield.

Yelp
We tried a variety of dishes and my favorites were the salmon and gnocchi. Everything can be a bit salty but that's the disclaimer given in the beginning is service. Cosmo drink was good

Yelp
New vibey spot in the bloomfield area! Drinks were reasonably priced and the fresh oysters & pastas were delicious. This place has gotten a lot of hype so it was crowded when we went, but didn't wait too long for a table closer to 9PM on a Thursday.

Yelp
I won't lie... when I first looked at the menu I was a bit concerned we wouldn't find anything we liked. I was so wrong. We had a fantastic meal, and absolutely would come back. The prices were so reasonable also. We had the oysters from BC, the trout, chicken, citrus salad, spaetzle, and fries. All were absolutely delicious and I think we just repeated "wow" several times as we had our meal. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The atmosphere was awesome, great vibe. I was shocked at how salty the food was. It was on the inedible side, I got a steak and I couldn't even finish it. And when I told the server she didn't seem to care or even really acknowledge that it was so salty I couldn't finish it.

Yelp
As a disclaimer, I am aware my rating is lower than most others, this may be because I am not the target audience and have never had Nordic inspired dishes before. Starting with the really good, the service was absolutely unmatched. Attentive servers who were clearly paying attention to all their tables to ensure the pacing of courses was correct. They were impeccable and professional and I cannot express enough how supreme that experience was. Also good were the cocktails, a mix of interesting and familiar and quite balanced. I was with one other person and we ordered the scallop crudo, tartare, cabbage Caesar, the chicken, and the French fried potatoes. The Caesar was amazing, the dressing is maybe the best I've ever had, the cabbage was grilled giving it some char but was still crunchy and not soft, and the breadcrumbs were a nice touch. I felt the tartare had too much mustard and horseradish and those two strong flavors outweighed everything else. The potato chips served with it were maybe the best potato chips I've ever had. Other than that, I found some dishes remarkable and not in a good way. The fries, though crispy, were odd texturally from the inside, they were extremely chewy. Most notably, the chicken was EXTREMELY salty, almost inedibly so. These last notes are why I added a disclaimer, as these traits might be hallmarks of Nordic food and may be appealing to some. Overall, I don't think it was a bad experience, maybe just an overhyped one.

Yelp
The eclectic menu and ingredients that brings out interesting and bold flavours. The ambience is cozy retro that eases you in and beckons to never leave... Service is ok while we were by the bar as the space is not fantastic, water refilling was sporadic and clearing of plates rather fast (suggestive?). Food does come nicely plated and at the right temperatures. The mussels are a must-do, add some rye bread and fries to soak up the broth. The trout is good, just unfortunate it was a tad salty for my liking. The roast chicken carried robust flavours, sweetened nicely with apples. Only a tad salty.

Yelp
One of the best new restaurants in Pittsburgh! Beyond cozy when you first walk in, they somehow transformed an old Italian restaurant to feel like a seafaring pub on the coast! LOVEEEED. The staff there were amazing (shoutout Em!), adding to the inviting atmosphere. And the food? Pure perfection. Each dish was a sooo good and expertly prepared. We ordered the fries, and normally I don't like hand cut, but these were done perfectly. Tried the sourdough spatzel, WOW, like mac and cheese. Had the oysters, they were small, but that was probably how they were supposed to be. And for the main course, had the sausage and 1/2 chicken. UNREALLLL. It's clear that the chefs at Fet-Fisk are true culinary artists. With its cool vibe, amazing food, and friendly service, this restaurant is a definite winner.

Yelp
Seafood was solid. The shaved watermelon had nice crunch, the mint and juniper berries added wonderful dimension. The chocolate mousse cake was great, the rich and smooth cake was perfectly offset by the tart, juicy lingonberries. Very attentive service, our waitress kept bringing us new plates and cutlery throughout our meal. Overall great experience

Yelp
Fet-Fisk!!! Every time I've had a meal from fet-Fisk whether that's at a pop-up or now at their permanent home in Bloomfield I am always left thinking it was one of the best yet. I attended their soft-opening in March 2024 and right out the gate the atmosphere, service, food and drink is spot on. So stoked on this location. We ate family style with some friends and tried a handful of items. Starting the meal with oysters (as you should!!!) and drinks. I am happy that they have non-alcoholic options and found the Pathfinder to be so gingery and bitter in all the best ways. As for the rest of the meal! The sturgeon pate is creamy and lightly smoky and the fresh dill is the best addition. The steak tartare is fresh and had the perfect amount of horseradish. We opted for the grilled cabbage Caesar for our veggie and it was so crunchy, creamy, and just everything you want it to be. For entrees we went for the grilled branzino and rye cavatelli. If you're visiting Fet-Fisk it absolutely makes sense for you to get the fish. The skin was crispy, the meat super tender, and the dulse butter was so sweet and creamy. I think out of everything the pasta was my favorite. The sauce is silky and truffley and the addition of crisp fresh apple sliced on top balances the richness super well. We didn't get dessert this time around but from trying their desserts from their pop ups I can assure you that you can't go wrong. Always creative and fresh and delicious. The waitstaff was friendly and laid back. The space is already so cute. We sat in the dining room but might opt for the lounge next time around. Loved the lighting and overall mood of the space. No complaints! Can't wait to visit again and again.

Yelp
So glad we had an opportunity to dine at this nationally recognized restaurant. I tend to be skeptical of hype, so I came in prepared to possibly not love the food as much others seem to. But I left the restaurant a Nordic food convert! The dining room itself is nice-- unassuming, with eclectic, homey decor. (We did not venture into the bar area except to walk through). Our server was helpful, efficient, knowledgeable, and had a nice sense of humor. We ordered the sturgeon pate, the scallop crudo, the cabbage Caesar salad (a very original take on a Caesar, with grilled cabbage and breadcrumbs instead of those bulky croutons), glazed carrots, trout, and the rye cavatelli pasta dish. There was not one dud in the bunch. Each dish was great. I think it's the mark of an excellent chef where you dig into their food and enjoy every mouthful when you're not even certain of what you're eating in some cases. (There were some ingredients I didn't recognize, but their flavor profiles were fantastic.) I would trust this kitchen to do anything well. If you like interesting flavors and textures in thoughtfully composed dishes, you will want to reserve at Fet-Fisk sometime soon.

Yelp
Had a gorgeous birthday dinner at Fet-Fisk, highly recommend to seafood lovers! Definitely don't skip a side order of the spaetzle, so good!! We were able to get a table without a reservation or wait by arriving right when they opened, but there was definitely a wait by the time we were leaving.

Isaac K.

Yelp
Terrible staff, with great food, very unfortunate. They could definitely change to the better.

Calvin M.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible. Their chicken is some of the best I've had - whether with lingonberries or grilled peaches it is perfection, and they have the best oysters in the city! Plus the wine list and cocktail selection always hits. I get the filthy martini every damn time. Definitely a favorite of mine in Pittsburgh!

Yelp
As a longtime purchaser of Fet-Fisk stuff in their previous iterations, I was hoping this would be a 5* review. But while much was very good, I was a bit underwhelmed in comparison to what we used to buy at Bloomfield Market or Royal Market. Highlights: the sausage had a great flavor and matches its sauerkraut perfectly (though the texture was a bit lacking compared to the old Julbord's potato sausage), the cavatelli were fresh, the gravlax had an impeccable fresh-cut texture, the crackers for the sturgeon were imepccable, and the cabbage under the mackerel was super fresh. Lowlights: the scallop crudo and pickeled mackerel seemed to be missing something compared to other pickled fish I've tasted from them before, the gravlax could have used more herbs, the cavatelli sauce was overpoweringly sour, and the sturgeon "pate" was so mayo-heavy that it didn't really seem pate-like in the way their old chicken liver was. Inarguably a very good meal, especially for Pittsburgh, but I just wasn't as blown away as I was hoping to be.

Yelp
I went with a two other people, and we got and split the scallop crudo, ora king salmon gravlax, and carrots as appetizers. The scallops and salmon were ok (3/5), but the carrots were incredible (5/5). For entrees, we split two roast half chickens and the rye cavatelli. The rye cavatelli was ok (3/5) and definitely expensive for what it was. The chicken tasted incredible, but for $32 it really wasn't much; I thought there should have definitely been some vegetables, potatoes, or something else with it, so 5/5 taste but 3/5 value. I definitely left hungry despite ordering a lot. The service was very good, and the environment is pretty nice. What we got was either ok or incredible, but all of it was pretty expensive for the amount of food.

Yelp
I had been hearing rave reviews about this place since it was in its pop-up phase. Finally got a chance to go last weekend, and wow does it live up to the hype. I don't normally bother with chicken dishes at restaurants (never performs like beef), but I heard so many good things about the chicken. It is one of the best things I've ever eaten. We also got the spaetzel, which was almost as good as the chicken. The price of the meal was beyond reasonable for what you get. My only minor complaint was that the service wasn't overly friendly/personable (we sat at the bar), but I've seen many people raving about the service so I assume this was a one-off instance.

Yelp
Went to Fet Fisk a few months ago and was blown away by my experience. I chose the Branzino which I discovered is best to share... but was so so delicious. The cocktails were great. Our server was very attentive and helpful at recommending meal/drink combos and appetizers. Loved the smoke sturgeon!!! Can't wait to come back with other friends!

Beth A.

Yelp
Just ok. Definitely not worth the hype. The service was good, but the food was a bit underwhelming.

Yelp
YUM. I can't stop thinking about my meal at Fet-Fisk from last week, and I cannot wait to return and try different things! I've been excited to try their fare for years now and never made it to a pop-up or to their farmers market stands, but now in their brick and mortar located in Bloomfield, the delicious nordic dishes are here to stay. I love the ambiance and the old-school feeling to the restaurant and bar space. It's dimly lit and cozy, but not cramped at all. The filthy martini was fun and very tasty, and we started with the smoked sturgeon pate and focaccia bread, which were both fantastic. I sampled steamed mussels, roast chicken with lingonberry and farmers cheese, branzino, and french fries. Everything was wonderful and so flavorful. I would recommend every item we tried! Our server was friendly and attentive throughout our meal, and the ambiance felt so warm and unhurried. The bathrooms are fun and cute, too, with the unique wallpaper and Fet-Fisk tile on the floor! This place is so cute and feels like it's been there for years, in the best possible way. I cannot wait to come back soon and perhaps sit at the bar with snacks and beverages. I hope Fet-Fisk stays for a very, very long time!

Yelp
Dreadful...mussels served unopened. Staff said that means they are fresh. I am a mussel snob, so it was unlikely this place would live up. And they did not. Check please... Don't walk, run away from this place.
