Leyenda’s Ivy Mix Opens New Crown Heights Wine Shop - Eater NY

"Fiasco, located at 1148 Union Street in Crown Heights, is a wine store opened by Ivy Mix, an award-winning bartender and owner of Leyenda. The store showcases wines and spirits from women- and BIPOC-owned businesses. It features a diverse selection of wines, including options from Eastern Europe, and spirits like mezcal from Mexico and whiskey by Uncle Nearest. Fiasco also offers canned cocktails, books, and home bar accessories. The store promotes sustainability through a bottle recycling program and plans to offer virtual wine and spirits classes. Fiasco is a collaboration between Mix and wine industry veterans Conor McKee and Piper Kristensen, and it aims to be an accessible and inclusive space for the neighborhood." - Tanay Warerkar

Google
Maybe one of the best, well thought out wine shops I’ve been to in a long time. Amazing selection, reasonable prices, a helpful staff and they have a shop dog! What more do you need from a neighborhood wine shop.

Google
lovely wine shop with a great selection and with the cutest doggo! picked out this 1L white wine and it’s so perfectly balanced with fruity notes. also had a wine tasting session and tried out 2 very different ones. would be my go to in this neighborhood for the vibes!!

Google
Such a cute spot and just what the neighborhood needed! Super affordable and unique selection of wine & spirits along with an incredibly welcoming and helpful staff. If you are lucky, one of the staffers pups might even greet you upon entry! Such a cozy, sweet spot offering something for everyone. Go get yourself something to brighten your ‘spirits’ 🥰 thanks, Fiasco!

Google
The friendly neighborhood wine shop you’ve always dreamt of has finally arrived. Hot off the press, Fiasco has an inviting atmosphere — the staff there are super warm and welcoming, and they carry an excellent collection of unique wines you won’t find in your average shop. And they’ve got some pretty tasty-looking, off-the-beaten-path spirits. An Old Fashioned in a can? Yes please. Negroni in a bottle? Sign me up! At the recommendation of Ivy, we picked up a fascinating bottle of natural amber wine from the republic of Georgia to pair with some steaks we’ll cook at home. Looking forward to trying the rest of the wines at Fiasco!

Google
This is my favorite local wine store, even though there are a couple closer to my apartment. The prices are fair and I find their selection the most interesting in the neighborhood. They also seem to rotate/change their selection more than some of the other local stores, which I enjoy because I like trying new things. I believe they've also opened a wine bar in the neighborhood too which I've been meaning to try.

Google
I'm sorry, but for a wine shop to call itself Fiasco and then not actually sell them just wastes everyone's time.

Google
This place is a taste to behold , it has class , opertunity , and lots of whiskey ;) ... So give your time to a place above the rest Pros: - communicative -great staff -large stock -amazing wine -liquor for all classes Cons: -no bathroom (that's a joke if you get it)

Google
My favorite wine shop in the neighborhood, which there are plenty of. Fiasco stands out. Customer service is always a pleasure. The rotation of selection is always on point. And they have all price ranges, including a wonderful curation of canned drinks. Love, love this place. Especially when the pup is there. =)

Yelp
Great neighborhood wine and liquor store! There are plenty of budget-friendly table wines, plus a curated selection of fine wines, fancy canned cocktails, and some drinkware/gifts. Staff are helpful and friendly. Nothing is behind plexiglass. There's tons of natural light. No notes!

Yelp
Awesome to go store. Purchased several canned cocktails and wines. Pricing was decent and service was on point. They had a very nice selection of wine. Every type you can imagine. Stop in for a beverage!

Yelp
Nia or Toni? was knowledgeable and patient. Sometimes funny. Kudos to the uncluttered layout, and mostly, I love that each wine has its own story.

Yelp
This place is getting some good press and it's no wonder as there are three solid wine and spirits professional owners. Cute shop with plenty of space. Wines are spread out and they have an ample selection of bubbly. I was able to get help on the white wine I was in the mood for on the unseasonably warm early spring night. I wish this could be my wine shop but it's a little far from my apt. However, I would absolutely come back here to browse and read the cute hand written labels describing the wines. Welcome to the hood.

Yelp
Very beautiful place and the dog is super friendly as well. This place is great for social distancing. Parking right out side so you can pop in and pop out. They also sell glasses which I should have bought but I totally forgot. Come check this place out, the prices are amazing and gives you something different from the other shops around. I will be back to get a French Red Wine my wife loves.

Yelp
My absolute favorite local wine/spirits spot! They always have great recommendations, whether you're chatting with the staff or just browsing their highlighted selections. The two things I love most about fiasco are 1. how dog friendly they are (I don't have a dog but always am happy to see a smiling pup in the store) and 2. that they always have something new and exciting, from a personal sized cocktail or sake to the best wine tote bag I've ever seen/owned. They push the limits on what I expect from a store like this, and for that, I'll always choose them! Highly recommend if you're a Crown Heights local!

Yelp
Came to Fiasco to pick up a bottle of rosé for a friend's graduation party. The gentleman that assisted me was VERY knowledgeable and helped me pick out a fantastically refreshing and slightly tart wine that my friend thoroughly enjoyed. If this store was closer to me, I'd probably come every week to try something new. Also, LOVE the big pup that greeted me at the door!

Yelp
I was going to this place regularly as I considered it a nice addition to the neighborhood but I experienced a horrible customer service experience on a particular purchase. I bought a bottle online that got delivered and it was not the bottle that I wanted. I realized I accidentally ordered a "dessert" wine which I don't drink. I reached out to them about replacing it with a non-dessert wine of comparable value (a whole $13) and they refused; nor did they want to refund me my money. Who does that? The owner's response was "we'd go out of business if we allowed this". Snarky and unhelpful. Zero accommodation for a long time customer who's spent hundreds of dollars there. Some business owners are just clueless when it comes to customer service. Conor, do better!

Yelp
Staff super helpful ! They didn't have what I wanted but they gave me great recommendations They do have a minimal collection but it's worth a look at

Yelp
I happened by and went in because of the name. They were very patient about me not really knowing how to describe what I wanted, and gave great recommendations for wine within my price range, as well as a cider made in upstate New York. They're super knowledgable about every bottle they have in stock.

Yelp
This was a no-brainer 5 stars. The website was already good enough for ordering, but I wanted to ask about delivery, so i called. Usually, a busy store (especially one which requires so much one-on-one time with guests in the shop) has to rush you through the call, but they answered the questions patiently, as through i had walked in the door. Knowledgeable, personable, professional, and just took my whole order over the phone, including the delivery details. The order showed up quickly and safely, and the gift recipients were thrilled. Having done this multiple times per week over the past year, this was far-and-away-not-even-close the best customer service and quality experience i've had with a wine and spirits retailer... perhaps any retailer. I'm not a big Yelp user, but this experience was so positive, that i was compelled to immediately hop online and shout it from the rooftops of the interwebs. I can't wait to go into this shop in person!
