Boston Pizza Restaurant Fido Serves Gin Fat-Washed in Actual Pizza | Eater Boston

"Casual but welcoming, this Allston pizzeria is the more relaxed sibling of coastal Italian restaurant Bar Mezzana and tiki and sushi spot Shore Leave, and it hits the sweet spot for students, families, and young professionals with affordably priced pies, a fun and intricate craft cocktail list, and a broad-ranging shared plates menu that offers both wings and clams. The room’s circular central bar and electric yellow booths make it as good for date night and after-work drinks as for a pizza-fueled study session. Order the New York style pepperoni pizza (10-inch $15, 16-inch $24) with tomato sauce, mozzarella, ezzo cup and char pepperoni, and a dusting of oregano; there’s also a gluten-friendly crust available. Start with the burrata and ’nduja ($16)—the creamy burrata perfectly pairs with the fiery sausage, and the cheese and sausage mixed with a tomato sauce base creates a flavor profile similar to a deconstructed pizza—and lighten a heavy meal with the roasted beets and feta salad ($17) with arugula, apple, pistachio, and cider vinaigrette for a bright, fresh feel. The bar team fat-washes a bucket of gin with a whole pizza to make its pepperoni pizza Negroni on draft (it’s serious business), and for the Negroni-averse, the tomato vine martini pairs just as well with a pie. Save room for dessert: offerings like an olive oil cake with whipped mascarpone, balsamic drizzle, and cranberry compote are a huge upgrade from the pizza joints of my New Hampshire childhood, where you’d be lucky to get a Hoodsie cup. Pizzas here range from tomato, pepperoni, or sausage to a Buffalo pie." - Celina Colby

The South End Restaurant Group Behind Bar Mezzana and Shore Leave Is Opening a Pizzeria | Eater Boston

"Announced by the restaurant group behind several South End concepts, a dog-themed pizza project is due to open this summer inside the Allston Labworks Campus at 250 Western Avenue. It will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner and will feature chef Colin Lynch’s spin on New York-style pizza, according to a press release. The team secured a full liquor license, so cocktails, beer, and wine will be offered, with beverage director Ryan Lotz in charge of the bar program. While the debut is still months away, the team is currently fundraising to help defray opening costs." - Erika Adams

Google
FiDO really knows what they’re doing when it comes to pizza. The crust was perfectly thin and crispy while still being generously topped. We started with the baked clams, which were delicious and definitely worth ordering. The mozzarella sticks and vodka sauce, on the other hand, were a bit bland. The buffalo chicken pizza with pepperoni was the highlight of the meal absolutely fantastic and highly recommend.

I visited this restaurant on a few occasions because I live in the neighborhood. I was excited for a new pizza place in town but I’m sad to say it did not meet my expectations every time I went. The cocktails are ok - super overpriced for the taste and amount. The pizza isn’t my favorite. Way too much crust and barely any cheese on a mushroom pizza I got the first visit. Another time I got a special pizza they had and there was cold buratta on it. The waiter informed us that the buratta was that way because in the oven it would liquidate. However, the buratta was ice cold and unpleasant on a warm pizza, at least serve it at room temp? On another visit, I ordered the beet salad and fries. The beet salad was not good. The salad came with a container of solid white stuff that looks like cream cheese that was flavorless and had no smell. The fries were super oily. With the fries and special pizza, both were so oily that the takeout boxes were smeared with grease. I think the service is solid except a woman working the bar one night seemed like she wanted nothing to do with us. It’s also a shame that they aren’t open Sunday or Monday nights. I wouldn’t come back for the food to be honest but maybe for a drink if I happen to walk by.

Thrilled we tried Fido in Allston! The staff are lovely and create a real neighborhood pizza shop vibe. We loved their suggestions: rip the garlic bread to dip in the molten ricotta & mozzarella center and then in the marinara that comes with the tender, scrumptious meatball. The chopped antipasto was crisp and perfectly dressed. Just that would have been a wonderful lunch but I'm so glad we also tried the amazing thin crust pizzas. That char was heaven on the dreamy cheese pizza and the potato pizza was just the unexpected treat they said it would be. Can't wait to try the DOC next time. The locals and the Harvard community are lucky to have them!

Great new pizza spot in town! We were big fans of the caesar salad & both pizzas. The garlic bread is super unique and unlike anything I’ve had before. The drinks were also creative & the nitro espresso martini was fun to try!

We came for weekend lunch with 3 adults and 2 kids and had a fantastic lunch. Five stars for the food but an additional million for service. The staff was so accommodating and kind to the two kiddos who just wanted to sit at the bar and watch the arsenal game. We had the sausage pizza (added mushrooms) and the pizza chopped salad. Both were fantastic. The crust was thin but held its shape, the cheese wasn’t overly heavy. I look forward to going back!

Google
Thoughtless combinations of food. Burrata with nduja - wish the nduja was warmed at least because the cold nduja was unpleasant and hard to eat with the cold burrata, also did not include bread. Braised greens pizza - the only greens appeared to be kale?? At least throw on some broccoli and make the presentation better. This pizza also included anchovies but this did not go well with the rest of the ingredients, especially because they were scattered on whole so you would have mouthfuls of no anchovies and then mouthfuls of just anchovy. Service was slow but can be forgiven for opening day. Only redeeming qualities are that it has some interesting wine selections at least, and the atmosphere is nice.

Google
Overall good experience. Our waitress was awesome and knew a lot about the cider that was on tap. Got the braised greens pizza and it was pretty yummy. Pepperoni negroni wasnt too bitter but not very pepperoni-y (still good though). There was a weird moment where the sun was setting and someone realized the lights were too bright and they hastily turned down the dimmer. It was opening night though so I'd expect they're still figuring those things out. Will be back to try more of the cocktails and the other pizzas.

Google
Incredibly thoughtful combinations of food. Burrata with nduja - the cool, creamy burrata paired beautifully with the nduja, offering a fresh and unique twist that highlighted their flavors without overwhelming the palate. A simple, elegant dish that let the ingredients shine on their own. Braised greens pizza - the kale brought a hearty, earthy depth to the pizza, complemented by the subtle brininess of the anchovies scattered throughout for balanced pops of flavor in every bite. A creative and satisfying option with great visual appeal. Service was attentive and unrushed, adding to the relaxed vibe—especially impressive for opening month! Standout features include the interesting wine selections that paired perfectly with the menu, and the welcoming atmosphere that made the whole experience enjoyable. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
I had a large group dinner here in October 2025 (about 25 people). Besides the food being top-notch, the restaurant was great to work with in coordinating the menu for the evening. The service was great during the dinner - the food came out on time and was hot - which is pretty impressive for a new restaurant given the size of my group. The pizza was flavorful with chewy crust. I enjoyed the olive-oil cake for dessert - not something that I have come across often elsewhere. The restaurant vibe is also great. I highly recommend this restaurant, whether for a large group dinner, takeout, or anywhere in between.

Yelp
Ordered the pepperoni pizza at this new place. Pizza was really good and of high quality. The cups had a nice char on them and the border of the pizza had some nice bubbles with the char. Nice and crispy and thin pizza. Great artisanal pizza! I will order again. Service was great and friendly. Ambiance was nice.

Yelp
The pizza was fabulous. The crust had a really good chew because of a three day fermentation process. The sauce simply tasted lime tomatoes and very good quality cheese. The gem salad was also really good. Service was attentive and friendly. Shawn the manager told me about the three day fermentation. For those of you from NY and NJ, you have to try it.

Yelp
What a fantastic addition to the Allston dining scene! I was so impressed with my experience here. I am genuinely already planning my return. You can tell so much thought went into every inch of the space and every meal on the menu. The space is super young and fun, but not in a way that would deter an older crowd (i.e. too loud and dark). I could see this being a perfect first date spot or a place for a casual family dinner. Considering they recently opened, the menu was a bit limited but there was still a decent variety. I have also noticed them posting specials through their Instagram on a weekly basis as they continue to grow and expand. I dined with 2 of my friends and we decided to share everything we ordered and commit to family style. We all tried the tomato martinis which was spectacular. In terms of food, we went with the garlic bread, caesar salad, and doc pizza. It was the perfect amount of food to share between 3 people. Have you ever seen a cheesier lineup? Between the mountain of parm on the caesar and the ricotta filling the garlic bread and dolloped on the pizza, we got our cheese fix for at least a month. I think if I hadn't spoken to the owner for recommendations I would've passed on the garlic bread, which would have been a SHAME. They should consider renaming it to do it more justice. It was fantastic. Such high quality bread with some of the freshest ricotta. The caesar was equally killer. The pizza was the star of the show. Without a doubt, the slight char and crust thickness were just right. Crispy on the edges, chewy in the center, and sturdy enough to hold all that delicious cheese without getting soggy. The amount of pepperoni and cheese to sauce ratio were great as well. Additionally, the spice level was perfect enough to make itself known without being overwhelming. I cannot wait to bring more friends here, CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!

Yelp
The interior is new and spacious. It feels like a good spot to enjoy dinner with friends or a date. The service was pretty good. I think it was the chef himself who brought out the pizza. The menu seems pretty limited in terms of specialty pizza. The meats are all pork based. Would love to have meatball/ricotta pie on there. Couldn't really find anything in terms of the pizza that caught my eye. I do however appreciate a good Rosso pie, which is where I landed. Sauce was sweet and tangy. The pizza overall was pretty good. It was a little too burnt on some edges. I didn't want to send the entire thing back, but a couple slices were way too burnt on the edges. I don't mind a slight bit of char. I saw other pizzas come out that weren't this badly charred. The dough is pretty good as well. Started with the garlic bread appetizer, which is sort of like a mini pizza with a center of cheese and garlic. They should rename this thing to something catchy. It's a bit unique and certainly not what I think of when I think of garlic bread. I regret not trying the Mozzarella sticks as a special item. They looked good in pictures online. Disappointed by the overcooked crust, but overall seems like a pretty solid spot.

Yelp
What an absolutely incredible dining experience all around! This spot is definitely a hidden gem, but won't be for long, so make sure you try it asap! I love the vibrant, energetic vibes of the restaurant-- perfect for an energizing lunch or dinner! The service is incredibly friendly, fast, and personable making sure that your meal is prepared to your liking and that you feel at home. As for the meal itself, oh my god. Some of the best pizza I've had in a longgg time! The crust is incredible, they've genuinely perfected a thin crust that not only upholds its own flavor with the tasty toppings but maintains its crisp along the bottom and its fluffiness in the crust. You can literally taste the excellent flavor of the quality ingredients in their dough! Not to mention, their menu has a variety of topping options, all customizable AND a weekly rotating seasonal pizza. We tried their DOC which had incredible flavor from the tangy sauce to the salty salami, but the real start was their butternut squash seasonal pizza which was somehow both sweet and savory at the same time with a umami and herbaceous kick! Though the pizza is definitely the start (seriously try it, it will change your life), their starters and other dishes are just as quality! I would definitely recommend the meatball--it was the most tender and flavorful I've had in a while-- and their mozzarella sticks for an amazing cheese pull! You HAVE to give this place a try! Even if it's out of the way, it's a perfect stop for sharing with friends or family and having a nice celebration meal!

Yelp
Ordered pizza here for takeout. The restaurant is super cute, but the pizza was not very memorable imo

Yelp
A beautiful new restaurant to anchor this growing part of Allston. You are greeted warmly and are taken care of well. From the stuffed clams to the perfectly thin and charred pepperoni pizza to the giant meatball in the best marinara sauce ever, they don't miss a beat. Colin and Heather Lynch and team have done it again. Full service creative bar and excellent wine list. This is a place for families to come with their kids and everybody eats well. It a great date spot with a pulse. It's not often that a restaurant gets the opportunity to be everything to everybody, but this one is that place. There's five or six pasta dishes, and a few interesting salads to choose from. Finish it all up with some chocolate mousse with a whipped cream quenelle and a caramel drizzle. I predict soon you won't be able to get in the front door. It's that good!

Yelp
Fido is a beautiful addition to the neighborhood. So clean, fresh and bright! Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. We took his recommendations because there were so many things we wanted to try. The heavenly Chopped Antipasto was dressed perfectly! My aunt doesn't even like chickpeas but tried them and declared the crunchy nuggets "superbly seasoned!" The cheesy garlic bread and meatball were amazing together. We tried the potato pizza and were blown away by the combination! THEN the desserts came! The creamy Chocolate Budino was deep and decadent. The Olive Oil Cake was topped with mascarpone cheese and fruit, it was light and almost savory. We can't wait to go back and try more! FYI they have this great canvas tote bag. It is large with a zippered top, a zippered pocket on the inside and the handle is long enough to throw over a shoulder! So useful!

Adriana T.

Yelp
Huge shoutout to Ayla! She served us today and was a blast. Incredible vibes, fantastic conversationalist, and Fido should be proud to have her! Made our night for sure. Food was great too :)

Yelp
Merriam-Webster called and wanted to add a photo of this place under their definition of mediocre. Their food wasn't great. Garlic bread wasn't fully cooked in the middle, and everything was overpriced for what it was. The waitress was friendly but slow. We will not be coming back.

Andrea R.

Yelp
Pizza was thin and soggy! The ranch and marinara were good for dipping. Has potential

Yelp
I visited the restaurant on a weekday afternoon. The place wasn't that busy but they had a full staff working that day. The service was fast and friendly and the bartender was extremely nice and helpful. The space has a lot of natural light and the horseshoe bar is the main attraction. I had the pepperoni pizza which had an excellent crust with nice char. I really enjoyed the pie but the leftovers didn't match the in house experience. I will definitely come back in the near future. I expect the menu will expand once the become more established. A welcome addition to the neighborhood.
