The 16 Hottest New Restaurants in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

"The latest iteration of Valdemar Escobar’s Chicken Palace empire is this Walker’s Point breakfast nook, offering a sprawling menu of daytime heartiness that hits on both sides of the Rio Grande. Pancakes and omelets bump up against chilequiles, moyetes, and chorizo and scrambled-egg tacos. Either genre offers fortifying fuel for a long day of work, or just a tender morning after." - Todd Lazarski

Love this place! They have a free parking lot too! First time here and came here for lunch. The price is worth the food quality and quantity. We had the oysters, burrito platter, paella, and red snapper. The oysters were delicious! I'm not sure avocados on oysters is for everyone but they were good for me. The burrito platter was alright. Just a typical burrito with rice and beans. But the meat was seasoned well and the burrito was huge. It could feed 2 people. The paella was delicious. Definitely my favorite. It tasted like the shrimp and clams were stir fried and they were very flavorful. The whole dish was very filling. It could definitely feed 2, maybe 3 people depending on how hungry you are. The red snapper was also very good. The fish itself only has big bones so you don't have to worry about pulling out little bones. The fish seemed like it was deep fried with sauce poured over. The sauce is very flavorful. I would definitely go back and try their other food. ☺️

Google
I enjoy the food here and the Palomas. Great care is put into each order it seems. Keep it up!!

Google
Great place, we stopped for breakfast and were blown away by the quality of the food. Our server was fantastic and my omlette was great. Highly recommend this place

Google
If you want your Sunday brunch to be ruined, come to this place. They messed up 2/3 of our orders. They messed it up, and they will tell you that you have to wait for your correct order because orders are in queue? Seriously, you messed it up, and then I have to wait again. We waited already only to be served the wrong food, and now we have to wait again because our order goes back to the end of the queue? With this kind of service, they even told us that "we didn't charge you for the avocado" (because, again, terrible service. They didn't say anything, they just didn't serve), tell you what, avocado is part of my order, which is technically I should be credited for the missing part of it. To top everything, they had the audacity to charge us the full amount. Save yourself the trouble you've been ⚠️.

Google
I loved it! I seen some reviews on here regarding not the best service, but for me it was outstanding. The work shortage is real. But no excuse, seems things have changed if there was a case. I had an excellent time. The food and drinks were fantastic. Definitely get here for breakfast!!!

Yelp
I love the homey atmosphere in this restaurant. The service was great, we were created with a free soup to eat while we were looking over the menu. Food was also good. I got the chilaquiles with steak. The steak was amazing, well seasoned and a great texture! It was huge and lasted me 2 days of leftovers (good portion sizes for the cost). I didn't have any drinks, but the friends I was with enjoyed theirs (mimosas and spiked coffee). I will definitely return!!

Yelp
Worst Mexican food in Milwaukee tacos made my stomach hurt limones were very dry same as the asada chile was bunk don't come here they fell off bad

Yelp
I love the atmosphere of this restaurant as it feels like you're in someone's kitchen. From the beginning when you sit down you are given a small bowl of complimentary soup of the day which was really good way to open appetite. Then the menu is so expansive I am almost positive that everyone can find something to their liking. Also be amazed by the portion size you are getting at such a great value including getting pancakes as a side dish. My personal favorite was my fiancés chilaquiles with steak. My chicharrón omelette was good just a little dense for me especially with red sauce. They also have everything from mimosas to their special iced coffee with baileys or khalua that I added Caramel flavoring and I think it's a must try. So sit back and grab a group of friends and enjoy a nice brunch.

Yelp
The margaritas are fantastic!! We got the mango flavored double carona margarita and loved it. Service was quick and everyone was nice. Love the bar vibe!

Yelp
Service is excellent & they have some flavorful breakfast choices. I asked for a vegetarian version of the Abanil omelet by taking off the sausage & adding cheddar. It was very tasty! Did not come with potato's as menu says, but did come with the side. They couldn't make one pancake, it only comes with two. Pancakes were fluffy and delicious. The staff is delightful & I was happy to find them open day after a holiday! They forgot my fresh juice, but I was so full from the meal, I didn't request it. Love the atmosphere here.

Yelp
Had a friend reunion here and I'm glad that this was the place we decided to catch up in! Staff was very friendly and helpful! Because it was the day after New Year's Eve I thought the place would be closed but I'm happy it was open. We ordered an omelette that came with a side of potatoes, some egg tacos, and enfrijoladas. I have to say that the food here is big portions but great flavor! The drinks were great as well and I'm happy that everything came at the correct temperature. Their menu offers a ton of different options so you are sure to find something you love! I will definitely be coming back here as their is a stuffed concha on the menu that looked so delicious! They also have quiet the pineapple dish that is filled with you go and fruits and granola. For the person that's into healthy juices in the morning they have a wide selection to choose from! It's a great big space that offers a parking lot as well. They have music playing and has great lighting from the big windows.

Yelp
IF I COULD GIVE 10 STARS I WOULD! Me and my girlfriend came in today on Mother's Day and there was a lot of people, but being over staffed they had everything on POINT! Great crew! Waitress, and helpers were all very helping and attentive. Anything we needed in a packed house, didn't take long at all. Music was playing, everything was a great time. As for the food, PHENOMENAL! I ordered the chilaquiles with arrachera and over easy eggs and man let me tell you. FIRE! Chips still crispy, arrachera was cooked perfect right with the eggs, salsa had the perfect amount of kick(don't have a great tolerance for spice, take in consideration). Best chilaquiles I've had so far and I've had a lot! My girlfriend absolutely loves eggs Benedict and she ranks these 2nd in Milwaukee behind Mad rooster cafe which is a great breakfast spot, so great company to be in!! SHOUT OUT TO THE CHEFS AT THIS PLACE! food is always on point every time we come! Thank you for this place for being here hahaha can't wait to be back for my monthly visit!!

Yelp
I love this spot. Small but beautiful with great staff and amazing food. Love the chilaquiles. You will not be disappointed

Yelp
Food and service were awesome! Daniel is amazing and very responsive to all requests.

Yelp
Never had a bad meal here. I love that they have authentic Mexican and also American fare. Their Mexican breakfasts are bomb and so is their shrimp Alfredo. I've had their salads, ceviche and they have good micheladas. Only bad side is that they started closing super early, like 3 pm. I hope they'll open back up to their normal hours soon

Yelp
Looking a a place to eat brunch and we found this one for my children's dad birthday, it was ok. I kind of liked the restaurant. My daughter picked it out for today, even tho his Birthday was yesterday. So He got the chilaquiles with Steak and eggs. The Steak was huge, it tasted good, but a bit dry. Since he said next time he'll get it medium well. Everything else on his plate was great. I ate the baby reds potatoes, yum with some egg white all meat omelet, pancakes on the side. Everything tasted good except for my omelet , it was too oily. My orange juice tasted good as well. My daughter had the Chorizo with beans, avocado ,Oaxaca cheese. It tasted so good with some eggs on the side. And my grandson had the kids full breakfast plate with apple juice. Love the restaurant how it looked inside, it was kind of big. It looked so like home, when you feel like you at home. Well the customer service was great, loved how they sit you down right away, all the servers there were also great. Thank you for an overall outstanding experience. So I gave it 3 stars for now. Next time I'll go I would try something else and drink something else they have on their menu! I would give you 5 stars next time I'll go, definitely would go back. The restaurant It's kind of big from outside too.

Yelp
Food was great, service exceptional, comfortable dining. Will definitely return to try dinner menu. Menus are extensive, separate bfast/brunch brunch menu and dinner menu
google avatar

Yelp
I came in randomly had me a nice breakfast Al fresco. It's odd the waiter informed me that people don't like sitting out there. People you are missing out the patio is nice and clean. The weather was perfect there was lots of shade it wasn't too warm out and no bugs flying all over my food. The waiter was very nice and his service was too. Chilaquiles rojo for the win. :)
google avatar

Kaylee S.

Yelp
The authenticity is beyond belief. First time I came by myself, second time came with my sugar papa! they treat you like home here! I love their food, and complimentary Soup they give. Please, decide to stop in and check it out. Nice, reasonable prices with BIG OL portions!

Aleiza A.

Yelp
The most disgusting vile food I've had in my life it quite literally made me sick to my stomach. (No literally) not soon after I ate I had to run to the bathroom and projectile vomited ALL of my food it looked like something out of the exorcist. I wouldn't ever recommend this place and none the less would NEVER recommend the salmon tacos! Don't say I didn't warn you.
google avatar

Cristian H.

Yelp
The food was delicious but service was questionable, our server was impatient with us however the ambiance was good enough.
google avatar

Yelp
There are so many amazing things on the menu at Fiesta Cafe, you're going to have trouble choosing. If you're a fan of authentic south-of-the-border flavors, if you can take a little heat, and if you enjoy some serious atmosphere, you're going to love this place. We went for brunch and had the chilaquiles and the manchacado- both dishes were rich in flavor, perfect in preparation, and very hearty. Props to the red chili sauce. Coffee and service were both on point too. Can't wait to go back!
google avatar

LaQuanda S.

Yelp
I had the worst experience ever Cafe Fiesta OMG I asked for the check then she offered me the dinner menu lol so we decided to stay and try it out ordered the Rainbow margarita and instead of washing the glass she wiped it off with her hand lol Topped it off by being severed on a chipped plate WOW this lady didn't disappoint her poor service tactic at all our first time visiting is definitely the last time this was crazy and so was her performance as a server

Maria S.

Yelp
Service was terrible we had a party of 8 people. When we finally order the food our order was completely wrong. We asked for individual checks took them 30 min to figure it out and finally they added gratuity to all of our bills.
google avatar

Marian Q.

Yelp
Came for brunch and everything was great. Food was delicious- flavors were spot on and I would definitely recommend getting the chilaquiles. The menu is expansive and there are a number of dishes that I would want to go back to try. Our server was attentive and made great recommendations. I would definitely recommend trying them out. You won't have to worry about parking, which is always nice.

Yelp
I walked in, sat at bar with a friend and Scott the bartender was very welcoming. We chatted about how the building had switched hands several times and talked to us about their menu, their specialty drinks and their food. He gave us a flight of their freshly squeezed juices (delish) and a sample of their Mexican sweet bread. I ordered a side of eggs and toast but I will most definitely return for a meal. Thanks Scott, see you soon!!
google avatar

Peter K.

Yelp
Was in there a bit ago and they allowed a bunch of people to go mask-less! How irresponsible - we left. When we mentioned it to the manager he said there was nothing he could do. Thats a straight out lie. As a proprietor you have the right to control the environment. Just like signs that state "No shoes, No shirt, No service!" Also, if you kick someone out of a bar for harassing ladies, or slamming a pool stick, being overly intoxicated or fighting you can also demand patrons wear masks. But now we all know who you support so we wont be supporting you anymore. Not only is it dangerous not to be wearing masks but you also support someone who doesn't support the people and thats always a bad business move!! Goodbye!!

Yelp
Short story: Good parking, nice remodel, solid menu, LOUSY waitstaff, EXCELLENT food, fair price. We'd go again! See photos. Had breakfast on Feb 2, 2019 at about 8:30am - 4 adults. Easy parking, felt safe, snow cleared. Nice remodel! I was in the place decades ago when it was a grungy bar with food for Rockwell/A-B workers. Now a solid brunch menu. Excellent cooking! All of us liked what we had. Fruit was fresh, everything cooked to perfection, correctly seasoned and well presented. Terrible service. :-( Waited for giving order, waited for delivery, waited FOREVER for bill. It's the biggest reason for less than 4 stars. $54 breakfast which was reasonable for what we got, the atmosphere and the quality. Left a $1 tip - I wonder if the waiter got the message?

Kaolee Y.

Yelp
First time here. Sooo good! Gotta give them a try. Cannot remember the correct name of this dish but it is delicious. I ate the entire thing!

Sally A.

Yelp
Absolutely diverse and delicious!! The wild yogurt and pineapples Lured me in, but when they were able to substitute the yogurt with banana crapes ( lactose free option ) I was hooked!! All out food was delicious, the churros French toast was crispy just right on the outside with a perfect amount of raspberry cheese and raspberry deliciousness. The fiesta skillet was a feast of colored and flavors. First Cafe is My top in the city for food. Well done!!

Suzy R.

Yelp
Great food, great service. We came in with a party of 7 for a Sunday birthday brunch without a reservation. They were very accommodating. Their menu is so vast. We had trouble choosing just one dish, and we all felt anxious to come back again to try something else. They kind of do tag team service which is very efficient, but our main server still made sure to check on us regularly. They have a special birthday treat that is something to behold.
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
Can I give this a half star? The service was very poor when we were sat at the bar both bartenders said nothing to us. When we ordered our drinks we asked if they were on special and we were told yes. Turns out we were wrong and it was $10 per mimosa! They were using j roget champagne not worth it at all! The food was good but nothing to rave about. I would recommend going somewhere else for your Sunday brunch there's way better deals in Milwaukee on a Sunday!
google avatar

Noe G.

Yelp
Chill place to have a drink and food. Great burger and nachos, I'm so coming back for more!!!
google avatar

Alicia S.

Yelp
Fiesta Café has some delicious Mexican breakfast dishes! I ordered Divorced eggs and the chilaquiles were delicious, the eggs were cooked nicely with some really good salsas on top that completed the whole dish! I enjoyed it with a michelada on the side. I definitely recommend the place.
google avatar

Torrance E.

Yelp
Finally made it to Fiesta Cafe for breakfast after many months of trying. I ordered the Fiesta cafe skillet that came with a side of pancakes. The portions were big and the food was great! I must say I did have buyers remorse after seeing some of the other meals going to other tables. Guess I should've been more adventurous. I saw a dish they call Divorced eggs that I have to try next time.
google avatar

Alex A.

Yelp
Went here with my wife for breakfast. I had the chilaquiles with arrachera. It was delicious!! Probably the best chilaquiles I've had and the arrachera was seasoned perfectly. My wife had the scrambled eggs, house potatoes, arrachera and pancakes. She loved her food also. I definitely recommend Fiesta Cafe. The restaurant has a parking lot and is very clean with a friendly staff.
google avatar

Maggie B.

Yelp
I'd heard great things about Fiesta Cafe and decided to give it a try on my day off work. They did not disappoint! The staff was so friendly, the food was delicious, and they made freshly squeezed orange juice. Lots of options on the menu and you get a lot of food for the price. Highly recommend!

Tammie M.

Yelp
I enjoyed dining at this establishment. I was a little hesitant after reading prior Yelp reviews, but I am glad I decided to try this place out. The food was delicious and the wait staff was gracious and welcoming. I appreciate a clean dining area, which I got. I am always willing to patronize local eateries, especially during these trying times. I will definitely be dining here again.

Nancy V.

Yelp
If you like spice, the Green Chilaquiles is definitely my favorite! With the arrachera, med-well, of course!
google avatar

Athena L.

Yelp
I would definitely return, staff is kind and very attentive. Food and drinks came out quickly which was nice. The variety of drinks with or without alcohol, makes it different from other places.
google avatar

Jennie O.

Yelp
I've been here twice now and each time I am daunted by all the delicious items they have to offer on the menu. Try the bloody or the Walking Spanglish and you'll be sure to be satisfied. The brunch is to die for loaded with tons of flavor!
google avatar

Micheal H.

Yelp
For some reason we were made to use the mobile menu, but everyone else that came in were given a hard menu. Possibly due to our race but no proof of that. Good was ok but not exceptional. Service was very poor. We finally got ketchup after three requests. Much like the year 2020 definitely wouldn't recommend. Very embarrassed that I took my sons there for breakfast while visiting from out of town.
google avatar

Beto R.

Yelp
I like how the place looks. Very modern and lowkey artsy. The huge clock attached to the ceiling is so cool as well as the two antique clocks by the bar. The staff is kind and friendly. And the food well tasting is believing and I BELIEVE. The Divorced Eggs were very delicious. Can't finish without mentioning the delightful fiesta drinks. I've tried the cucumber, melon and strawberry but they have many more. If you like mixed drinks just add some Vodka. I came hungry and left happy
google avatar

Cathy D.

Yelp
Was driving to another place for breakfast and decided to stop. A great choice. I had the make your own skillet and it was delicious. The fresh orange juice was a real winner. Will definitely return.

Joel K.

Yelp
Four thumbs up for this new restaurant! I don't want to label it "Mexican" because they have much more. They hook you with the complimentary cochas which are a sweet roll I haven't seen outside of Mexico. I ordered the "divorced" chiliquilles which I also haven't seen outside of Mexico. Linda had a chicken wrap which was good. Each came with potato sides and also fruit. The decor is also well done and includes a large replica of the Allen Bradley clock.
google avatar

Jenni D.

Yelp
Chilaquilles green sauce was aMaZiNg!! Steak was done perfect, was truly the perfect breakfast- thank you! We will look forward to going back!
google avatar

Stephen H.

Yelp
This was an incredible place. Great food. Generous portions. Got a fiesta cafe skillet. I would highly recommend this place to a friend. I'll be back for sure!

Justin T.

Yelp
I don't frequently post, but this place is an exception. I can't decide what the best part of my experience was. Staff was super attentive and kind. Decor, amazing. There is something on the menu for everyone. Food presentation was as good as the food tasted. Food is unbelievably fresh and cooked perfectly. Don't wonder about this place, GO!!! Fiesta's Cafe just jumped to the top of my must go to places in Milwaukee.
google avatar

Jason K.

Yelp
Wow, great food! The kind of "cheesey" decor made us hesitate but this food was awesome. Although they have a small "Mexican" menu, all of their food is made in a Mexican style. My wife had the chilaquiles and I had steak skillet with corn Tortillas. It was perfect! I need to try a few more things there but I think this is our new favorite breakfast place!
google avatar

Elysse O.

Yelp
The food is okay. The margaritas are strong. The menu lacks info on what's included on the plate, but then they don't actually give you the side listed on the menu.
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
Did not have the wait issues others have commented about either time we went. Visited again today and had the Bloody Mary (huge, and kinda spicy) and the fiesta cafe skillet + pancake. Did not disappoint. I'd been thinking about it for weeks and almost strayed because several things on their menu look delicious!
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
Looked nice. Not crowded. My wife and I took a seat and waited. Wait staff saw us, walked passed several times, my wife even attempted to say "hello" which went unacknowledged. After a while we felt conspicuous while the staff stood around doing nothing. Eventually we left to find another restaurant that would serve us. Never again.
google avatar

Kristen H.

Yelp
Centrally located in an area that has arguably been a food desert for awhile. I've been numerous times (breakfast, lunch, and evening drinks) and the service is always stellar. The salads and sandwiches are huge and tasty. The green juice always tastes differently (as expected), but doesn't disappoint. The lattes are some of my favorites. You can definitely get a bang for your buck. I just wish they had a firm catering menu. But I hope it is here to stay!

Cielo H.

Yelp
Decent food, service isn't great. Servers seem distracted and like to converse a lot with each other while it looks like they have many tasks. I'm a server, and I am serving during this pandemic so I absolutely know what it is like. It's pricey so I would expect a little more... there was also a hair in my sisters chilaquiles. Ehh
