Michael Bauer Joins the Chorus of Praise for Juanita & Maude - Eater SF

"In the Fillmore, Pete Kane found “no complimentary banchan — or much banchan of any kind” at the “Americanized Korean” Fillmore Social Club. Even without all those little bowls, “there are many dishes worth trying” like the “perfectly respectable” spider roll, the kimchi jun, or the must-order Gimmari deep-fried seaweed spring rolls. It’s a “simultaneously goofy and ambitious” restaurant, Kane says, and you should definitely order the “perfectly flavored” moe galbi short ribs." - Andrew Dalton

There’s a lot to go for in this restaurant. The staff is nice, we got some crayons and coloring sheets for our little one and the atmosphere is nice and clean. Unfortunately, with the nice options for food, it falls a little short. First, the weekend menu doesn’t have tapas, which is to bad but not a big deal but be aware of that. We ordered a few of the popular dishes and felt it could have been better. The Kim Chi Fried Rice was too salty, the KFC’s batter was too much and too crunchy, chicken wasn’t juicy enough. The Matcha Latte wasn’t anything special. Beef bulgogi was okay, but nothing special. It’s a nice place to hang out and eat some food but I’m not sure I’ll come back.

Ate dinner here during their soft opening. Salmon tataki and moe galbi were excellent. The deep fried squid and pancake dishes were just ok. Service was very attentative. Overall, four 🌟 but will try eating there again.

Food was good and filling. The drink was smooth well blended and flavorful. Service left more to be desired though. Restaurant was clean and had a cool theme throughout.

A little too pricey for the small portions but food was great! We also tried most of the mixed drinks and our absolute favorite is the "cool cucumber" - a must try if you decide to stop by!

Such a fun brunch! After being to what feels like every bottomless spot in the city, it’s a treat to try somewhere new. They’re super on it with the refills and gave us some cute polaroids of our party. Awesome people and even better food!

Very courteous staff. I had been there for brunch. Food was great. The whipped cream on my latte was a pleasant surprise.

Went in for takeout during their soft opening. I was impressed. Grabbed some Bulgogi that was delicious, tender and served with fresh shredded green onion. (Nice touch). Also picked up the Half & Half Fried Chicken, served with half spicy-sweet sauce and half light soy. It was fantastic, especially with the recommended hot sauce to notch up the heat. Service was exceptional and quick. I'm so impressed, I'd like to go enjoy the space and eat in next time. Looking forward to having them in the neighborhood.
