The views alone are worth a trip down the pothole-ridden dirt road here. They have these really cute wine barrels all over the property with stairs to go up to the top to sit with about 6 friends and just drink in the fields and the mountains. We had a reservation for Sunday 1pm but was running late, and they had no problem moving it later when we called ahead. Plenty of seats left because the place was huge. Live music started around 3pm as well. Service was excellent. Our server, Salvador, was friendly and attentive, gave suggestions on the popular items to order.
The food was good, but perhaps not as good as other places we tried in VDG, so that's why 4 stars. The aguachile was a very large portion, more than enough to share for 4 people, and was very fresh. I thought the octopus in the cast iron skillet was a bit salty, but others in our group loved it. The complementary bread basket with the focaccaia came in handy here to dip the sauce. The elote was a huge corn on the cob and impossible to break down and share, so I took one for the team, but I loved every bite of it. The lime zest was a nice touch. The chicken entree was very small, almost like a large quail, but very flavorful. The beef rib was falling off the bone, also had a delicious sauce. To my surprise, both entrees were just a bit on the chewy side, and was not as hot as I expected them to be. The churros was way overdone, kinda like Costco churros, and it came with a thick caramel sauce that I did not enjoy.
Drink wise, the lavender margarita came recommended by our server, and it was ok. Looked very pretty but I didn't get much of a lavender flavor or scent even with the flower on top. The Valle Verde was a better drink, a bit smokey and a bit tangy, what you'd imagine a mezcal drink on a warm day should be. The spicy margarita was just the regular margarita with some diced serrano, not even a bit spicy.
