"Ukrainian Village/West Town: Family-owned Italian stalwart Fiore’s Delicatessen will permanently close on February 15 after more than 40 years, ownership confirmed in a neighborhood Facebook group. Husband and wife Michael and Carmela Fiore first opened the business in 1970 on the corner of Oakley and Erie as a candy store and slowly expanded into a full-fledged deli. Now they want to retire." - Naomi Waxman

One of the last oases of Italian food and cuisine in the Ukrainian Village, East Ukrainian Village or West Town in general. A little fresh breath of Old World air..👌

I have been to Fiore's many times over 20 years or more because I worked in the neighborhood. But it has been about 5 years since my last visit. I went for a special, nostalgic taste of my past and took a train into the city to go back. I bought two extra large roast beef and cheddar subs and a bacon, egg and American cheese sub. Not a small purchase for a single person. All were very good flavor-wise, but had so much less content than I remember. I went onto Google and Yelp to check the older pics posted by others to confirm it wasn't my imagination or false memory. It definitely was not. I'm satisfied with what I got, but don't know if I will make another trip. The generous portions was part of the appeal for me and since that part is gone, I don't know if I need to go back. If I do, I'll get a breakfast sub to munch there and see if it is skimpy again and maybe order more to go if not. Times change, but it upsets me when such a great place changes this much.

First time visitor had a taste for good deli sandwich, googled and found this place. Nice little gem, my only issue is the sandwiches are small. I visit delis all over and they are generous on everything. I could have made this exact same sandwich at home. So wont be going back. Otherwise, friendly and quick service. Im sure the neighbors appreciate this place.

I have been looking for a good Italian deli. Today I found it! Great selection of meats, cheeses, salads, sandwiches, desserts, pastas..you name it! The guys are great, and you can tell this place has been family owned and run for decades. Definitely a gem worth making a regular stop 👍

Convenient and well stocked local deli. Excellent breakfast sandwich (we like the ham, eggs and cheese version the most). Helpful to call ahead - as a small place, multiple customers at the same time can create a bit of backup.

This place is great for a quick and cheap bite. It's a full service deli, offering all types of classic sandwiches. A cozy place, which offers lots of homemade treats to go along with your excellent sandwich or soup. Best part is it's super cheap, and you will feel good helping a local business out. Try their turtle cookies!
