Fiorino, Italian Street Food

"Fiorino, Italian Street Food is a welcoming spot with just a hint of nostalgia (spy the framed photos and art). Giovanni "Gio" Mascagni presides over this serious Italian place where the bread-making skills he learned in Tuscany are on full display. At lunch, focaccia sandwiches and schiacciata, like the one stuffed with guanciale, drizzled with honey and spread with walnut crema, are the hot ticket. At dinner, it's all about pasta. Spaghettoni ai frutti di mare is a classic Italian seaside dish brimming with clams, mussels and prawns in a perfectly spicy arrabbiata sauce. Each strand is heady with flavor; the clams are tender; the mussels are meaty; and the tomato-based sauce is equal parts sweet, spicy and tart." - Michelin Inspector

We visited this restaurant on a Friday night at 8 p.m. with a reservation, and I’m glad we had one, because shortly after we say down there was a lineup outside. The place was buzzing and definitely on the louder side, which made conversation a bit tricky. There was a big group celebrating a birthday, which might’ve added to the volume, but overall, expect a lively atmosphere. As for the food, it was pretty good across the board. We tried the arancini, which were crunchy on the outside and perfectly soft inside. The panzanella was another highlight: fresh, flavourful tomatoes and a really well-balanced dressing. The pappardelle alla guancia was rich and satisfying, and the pollo alla diavola was also great, cooked thoroughly and nicely spiced. The only note I’d make is that the sauce was quite spicy. I personally loved it, but it might not be for everyone. Also, the chicken skin was a bit too salty, so I ended up removing it, but the meat itself was still delicious. For drinks, the house wine was average, but the Pinot Grigio was enjoyable. We also tried the Berry Smash from the non-alcoholic menu, and that was a standout, super refreshing and flavourful. To finish, we had the tiramisu and it did not disappoint, rich, creamy, and the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, I’d give this place a solid 4 out of 5. The food was great, the energy was fun (if a bit loud), and the service kept up with the busy pace. Would definitely return, just maybe not for a quiet date night.

We always have a great experience at Fiorino the service is warm, the staff are consistently attentive, and the atmosphere is inviting. Last night, we brought our out of town guest here, knowing we could count on a solid, impressive dining experience, and Fiorino did not disappoint. From start to finish, everything was seamless and enjoyable. A true Vancouver gem we’re always proud to share.

Came to Fiorino for dinner, and it exceeded our expectations! Really enjoyed getting to order food family style, since there was so much we wanted to try. We got the Butternut Squash Arancini, Sformato (Cauliflower souffle), vegetarian Gnocchetti, Panzanella Salad (not pictured here) and for dessert the Olive Oil Orange Cake - everything was delicious - we really loved the Gnocchi and Cauliflower souffle! The ambience was really cute, I can imagine it would be super cozy in the winter, but also perfect for summer nights too with some great food! Our server Bianca was really great and attentive, and gave us her suggestions too! I would definitely go back, seeing as they add in new items for seasonal flavours. Excited to check out the Londsdale location soon!

Easily one of my favourite places to eat in Vancouver and a one-restaurant-as-a-whole-ass-argumemt why EastVan is just better than Westend/Downtown. First of all, this place is simple and unassuming, even rustic. Great staff here, glad they were able to squeeze us in on the patio this evening (usually dont have any trouble getting a table here but larger parties can be a bit challenging without a reservation here. The food was stupendous --- panzella was great as always (i miss the o.g. vs that had preserved watermelon and pumpkin seeds, but this evenings' was just as good and beautifully presented 🥗). The Polpo/porkbelly appy is incredible -- thank you, Asya (from Keefer Bar), for the reccomendation. We also did the carpaccio (incredible!), Chicken Daviola (consistantly amazing... the balance of heat and sweatness is sensational with the fingerling potatoes and roasted broccolini. My friend really enjoyed the Gnocetti as well -- that was his and our servers favourite. I really enjoyed the arincini and the frito misto as well... the latter was beautifully battered with a great dipping sauce [we could have used a liiiitle biiiit moooore]. Finally, their tiramisu is the best in the city. Full stop. Had to try the semifreddo and liked it as well... like an indulgent offspring of a ferrero roche and an ice cream Snickers bar. Great stuff ✨️✨️💯 Also: notice how many 6/5 scores there are here... this could be my highest-rated-by-plate restaurant 🔥🔥🔥 Ps: 2y ago you guys had a veal on polenta that was TO DIE FOR... i would love to see that make a return to the fall menu 🤗🫡😋🥰

The food is outstanding. There was not one thing that didn’t wow us. The appetizers were amazing. The seafood was tender fresh and delicious. The carpaccio was melt in your mouth and the tiramisu probably one of the best we have ever had. This is a hidden gem. A must have dining experience

Had a amazing meal at Fiorino, everything is sharing style so we ordered Gnocchetti, the insalata, the arancini. All the dishes were delicious and we would definitely come back again. The staff was lovely and super friendly. We weren't going to order dessert but they convinced us. I'm glad we got dessert because the olive oil cake was to die for. So delicious!

Sweet home Italian restaurant. We got lovely drinks negroni and house wine paired with nice food. Can't wait for next party at here.

The panzanella salad and pork belly octopus were delicious, but the pastas were just average. Cute restaurant in Chinatown area. We didn't make a reservation but we got a table for 2 around 5:30pm. Probably wouldn't go back given there's so many foodie options around.

Yelp
I was looking for a place to have lunch with friends. One of them wanted Italian, and found this place has a Michelin Bib Gourmand, so thought it was worth trying. We had reservations on a weekday, but they weren't necessary. It was quiet. It's in an older space in Chinatown, so you can feel the history in the space. I was able to try the following: - Paccheri al Ragù di Cinghiale - Good. Cooked al dente, and the sauce was quite good. Portion-wise, I think it seemed the smallest of the pasta dishes. - Nduja e Speck Carbonara - Good. Of the three pastas, this felt the most hearty, so if you really want feel full after, this is the one to get. - Spaghetti all'astice - Good. The layers of lobster flavour really highlights the dish. - Fritto Misto - Good. Better to think of this as an appetizer, because it was small, but lightly fried and well seasoned. Service was standard. Overall, the food was fine. If I was in the area and wanted pasta, I wouldn't mind stopping by again.

Yelp
The Bib Gourmand was well deserved. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we stepped in. The service was amazing throughout. They even recommended food spots and watering holes when they were told we were visiting the city. Checking in on us regularly in case we needed anything. My Negroni Clasico was one of the best iterations I can remember. Kudos to the bartender. The seafood pasta done with squid ink was excellent. Clams cooked just right, the flavor of the sea was incorporated throughout. Like the salty savoriness of the pancetta. Tiramisu was top notch, finished with a cherry glaze.

Yelp
After a lacklustre visit of Commercial Drive on Italian Day, we decided to go to Fiorini instead. Overall, pleasantly surprised by the food items, would say it's pretty different compared to your standard pasta and pizza offerings (more so tapas style) Arancini ($16) 7/10 As someone who dislike arancini, this was actually well done, pretty juicy and the red roasted pepper helps make the taste less monotonous Pulpo e Nduja ($29) 6.5/10 Pretty good though I felt like both octopus and pork belly would have been better if grilled longer. Appreciate the unique combination. Coccoli e Prosciutto ($28) 7/10 First time trying something like this. The dough almost tastes like a lighter, fluffier doughnut? The prosciutto got a bit overwhelming at the end, whereas I felt like they didn't give us enough ricotta. Cappeletti Tirolessi ($28) 7.5/10 A nice spring-summer pasta dish. Love the peas and the goat cheese filling Formaggi e Salumi for 2 ($26) 6.5/10 A little bit too heavy on the meat side, though quality is much better than the average deli I've tried in Vancouver. Would've prefer more Italian cheese instead tbh.

Yelp
Wow. Service is incredibly friendly. I loved our server he was kind and knowledgeable. I got an aperol spritz and a affogato for drinks. The Aperol Spritz was a WIN. It was delicious. Not in the location you expect but it's the home feeling Italian experience everyone deserves. We also got the gnocchiti and the ribs. They were both delicious and traditional in their own way. To finish off we got the Nonna's recipe for Tiramisu. If you don't try it youre really missing out on an incredible experience.

Yelp
We shared 2 sandwiches. I little pricey (I think not out of line) but BOTH were probably the best sandwiches I've had in years. I dreamt abut the pork belly one the next night! Really nice venue, classy, and genuine staff. We didn't even do the wine but I sense that is also a strength there. I'll be back.

Yelp
Fiorino is a quaint little Italian Eatery in the heart of Chinatown, but don't be fooled by the humble build of this restaurant - This is a place full of personality and has a spot on the Michelin Guide as one of 2023's Vancouver Bib Gourmand Restaurants (good food at moderate prices). I decided to come in late night on the last night of DineOut and my expectations were high but to my initial disappointment, they had already sold out of the braised short rib that I wanted to try. However, the waitress explained that the DineOut menu was not too far off in terms of value and food portions compared to à la carte (ie. Better ingredients for à la carte and bigger portions). We decided to order from the regular menu and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! Appetizer: Beef Carpaccio $26 - A really great carpaccio for the price. The meat was plentiful and thick and I love good old classic carp with generously distributed cheese. The red wine mayonnaise was a beautiful touch of acidity to the thickness of the meat and the side crostini's for crunch factor were a hit with the bf. They bring extra crostini's as well so don't worry if you find the initial amount too little! Mains: Pappardelle Ripiene $38 - The waitress explained that this was similar to the DineOut option except the pasta on this one is house-made and there is added black truffle on top. I would say this dish will only be loved if you are an intense mushroom lover because besides the nice texture of the house parpadelle, you're getting 98% mushroom flavours. Carnivorous Rex aka bf did not appreciate the lack of protein but I found the dish quite pleasant! I'm not sure if it was $38 pleasant but it was surprisingly filling. Osso Buco e Polenta $36 - The veal shank (otherwise described as a better cut of the short rib) was a fall-off-the-bone experience with bone marrow to be finished off (greatly appreciated by the bf) paired with an interesting and pleasant crispy polenta. The sauce was rich and tasty and the holy grail of all compliments - not too salty!! I usually find non-Asian cuisines can't hit my desired flavour profiles due to too much salt and lack of actual flavour but the veal shank was delicious and satisfying for its nature. The bf actually complimented this dish as well and that is high praise considering nothing usually impresses him unless its excellently-cooked steak! Dessert: Tiramisu $12 - Finally the spotlight of the night and my favourite non-Asian dessert.....Tiramisu. My requirements for an amazing tiramisu definitely include very well dipped lady fingers (I need that DEEP espresso flavour) and thick but light creamy mascarpone, and emphasis and stress on the fact that it cannot be too sweet. Yes, this tiramisu hits the spot. I'm not sure if it beats my all time favourite at Bruno but it did everything it needed to do to finish my meal off. Lastly, we ended up spending about the same amount as if we did DineOut (and we were probably more satisfied too). Service was great (mise en place on point!) and I really appreciated that the waitress comped our dessert as she saw how disappointed I initially was about not being able to do DineOut. It's gestures like these that make me feel appreciated as a diner. Nonetheless, the experience itself really proved that with or without DineOut, Fiorino is a sure vote of mine. :)

Yelp
Amazing experience here at fiorino! They market themselves as italian street style food, but let me tell you the cuisine here, reigns supreme! We started with the house bread...( not free) but oh so good. Tender on the inside and nice crisp outer layer. Complimented with quality evoo and balsamic glaze. Next was the ribs. Their roasting technique was superb. Tuscan roasted ribs with rosemary rock salt, served with a side of smoked cherry sauce. The ribs were succulent and fall of the bone, but had a crispy outer texture. The smoked cherry sauce elevated its flavour profile to new heights. Another winner was the squid ink ravioli pasta with brown butter sauce and poached lobster, served with lobster bisque. Amazing, amazing, amazing! The bisque was very rich and the ravioli was cooked to perfection. Each bite brought the freshness of the sea and highlighted the robust flavours of the squid ink. Also had generous portions of lobster pieces. Wow! For dessert, we had the tiramisu! A huge serving of a classic italian dessert. It was made fresh. You can tell it wasnt sitting in a fridge for days. You could taste the espresso and the mascarpone. So good! Just like in italy. Ambiance was great as well. Nice cozy mood lighting. Very intimate and great date idea. Service was quick and efficient. Server very attentive and on the ball with water refills and drink orders. Place was sparkling clean, including the washrooms. Will repeat for sure. Want to try their lunch offerings like the sandwiches. Cheers! Happy eating!

Yelp
Make a reservation online! Plenty of street parking available. I went with a friend at 8pm on a Saturday night and it was busy! Outdoor, indoor and bar seating available. Service was a bit spotty the night we came but I think they were understaffed. Drinks took a while and my friend didn't get the drink she ordered so they had to remake it. Staff were super nice though. Food. Y'all. The food was incredible. I wish I could have tried everything on the menu but we went with 4 dishes: Arancini, Coccoli e Prosciutto, Gnocchetti (the best) and Rosticciana (ribs-yum). So soooo good! Each dish was brought out one at a time which I appreciated so I could savor each one. Damn. I am from out of town and I can't wait to come back in the future.

Yelp
Ninety min wait at Phnom Penh lead us down the block to Fiorino. I've heard rumblings abt this spot, saw the sandwich board for happy hour specials and open patio seating. Sold. Table for four at one of the booths inside (for the AC). The server mentioned our table is meant for a reso at seven so we had only about an hour but they'll try to figure things out. Never ended up being asked to moved. Pros: - The fried pizza dough balls with prosciutto platter. Delicious and generous serving size - Super cute decor and high vaulted ceilings with loads of natural lighting - Friendly staff, chatty and inquisitive - Reasonable pricing and lots of options for happy hour

Yelp
Ambiance: 4/5 Food: 4.5/5 Service: 5/5 Overall: 4/5 I came here with my family to celebrate my birthday and made a reservation well on advance. If you plan on coming here during weekends I definitely recommend making one as well because they book up quite fast! For the menu, the plates are meant to be share-style and the menu isn't huge, especially if you have any dietary restrictions. Luckily, the waitress was super nice and allowed me to customize my pasta a bit given that I'm vegetarian (I got the gnocchi with spicy red sauce). I've heard the brick chicken is a must get for meat eaters as well. As for ambiance, the restaurant is nice but can get a bit noisy when full. Overall I enjoyed this spot!

Yelp
We had: -The Carpaccio (26$): IMHO this was my absolute favourite dish, and writing about it makes my mouth water. The flavour profile almost reminds me of the Kissa Tanto carne cruda (I guess to the extent that it's raw beef w/shaved cheeses on top served with something friend/crunchy ha). The ingredients, in and of themselves, were sublime. What immediately comes to mind-other than the excellent melt-in-your mouth beef-was the shaved aged cheese on top, as well as the pine nuts, adding a delectable nutty flavour. Additionally, it was pleasantly light, but still filling to a certain degree. If you come and have to pick one thing to try, I would definitely recommend this one. -Arancini (15$): This was also delicious. That being said the Gorgonzola flavour was on the stronger side (as is to be expected for such an aromatic cheese) and as such it was a bit difficult to parse out individual flavours and elements of this dish. Namely the artichoke was almost imperceptible. Hard to go wrong when something is fried and cheesy though. -Coccoli e Prosciutto (28$): At first I was sceptical when I read "deep fried dough" because I am not a doughnut gal and the description was giving me doughnut vibes. Couldn't be further from the truth though. This dish was extremely filling and definitely on the heavy side, but as you're eating it you don't quite notice because the "deep fried dough" is lovely and has a quite agreeable texture. And once again, the quality of the ingredients shines through with this dish, because albeit being rather simple it was tasty. I must say in terms of flavour complexity it may have been a bit lacking. The prosciutto being salty obviously added a bit of "spice", but I almost wish the cheese had been a Camembert or something with an extra "oumf". -Rosticciana (Half-rack: 28$, Full-rack: 52$): We got the full rack (will be posting a photo so only mentioning this fact for reference). The cooking of these was perfect. They slid off the bone, they were soft-borderline melting. That being said, I have to say that the smoked cherry glaze was a bit too salty/smoky for my liking, and the ribs were borderline (and I never thought I'd hear myself say this) too rich/fatty. Maybe the appetizers contributed to this, but I only found myself being able to eat a single rib. If you order this I definitely recommend ordering much lighter/less oily fare as an accompaniment/appetizer. -Gnochetti (31$): This was yummy. The fennel sausage added a nice salty kick. The cheese was chef's kiss. -Tiramisu (12$): Very yummy. Sometimes tiramisus are served w/ too mucho alcohol (ex: Marsala wine/amaretto), but this one was perfect (and if it contained alcohol, I didn't taste it, which I'm happy about). Additionally, sometimes the ladyfingers aren't sufficiently soaked to my liking, but once again they were to my liking in this one. Additionally, the Amarena cherries added a surprising respite to cut through the flavours (I ended up kind of thinking of them as almost ginger/palate cleansers while eating). Overall, this restaurant made me remember why I love eating, and I definitely recommend checking it out. The ingredients were quality, and the preparation of these dishes was well-thought out and executed.

Yelp
Finally tried out fiorino for some Italian food in Chinatown! Got seated promptly for two for a late dinner. They recommended 3-4 plates to share between two. We got the arancini ($15) to start. Three balls over a really yummy hazelnut pesto. Great crunch and loved the cheese inside. Next up - the ravioli ($26). It was just okay. The squid ink ravioli was chewy and I didn't get a lot of seafood flavor. Wish there was more ravioli on the plate as well. Finally - the rosticciana braised ribs ($26). These were really good and came with a great sauce. Meat just fell off the bone! Again, wish portion was a bit bigger.

Yelp
New menu and patio! Drinks: Lavanda - 7/10 - Lavender is really tricky flavour wise to get right. Like with anything floral (rose and lavender especially) it can taste like soap if there's too much. This drink had the PERFECT amount where the lavender and vanilla flavours really came through. It was very similar to a whisky sour with a bit of citrusy foam on top. Wonderfully made, just not to my taste Aperol Spritz - 8.5/10 - a classic done very well. They also make an incredible Nigroni. See my previous review of them. Food: Albacore Tuna - 9/10 - delicious tuna with a passion fruit purée, yam, capers, and red onion. It was a delicious and Savoury start to the meal Lamb Sausage Gnocchetti - 10/10 - fresh Gnocchetti that are amazingly soft with a very fennel forward lamb sausage cream sauce. My partner was literally scraping the bowl clean Agnello - 9.5/10 - Lamb sirloin, roasted fingerling potatoes and cherry tomatoes, with a Tuscan salad verde. The Lamb was a little rare which was delicious with the herby salsa verde. The tomatoes added the vibrant sweetness, the herbs in the salsa added the freshness, which paired perfectly with the earthiness of the Lamb and the carmelization of the potatoes Desserts: Torta all'olio - 10/10 - Orange Olive oil cake with gelato and Almond crumbles. The slightly bitter baked orange in and on the cake was such a great compliment to the orange syrup and the gelato Affogato - 10/10 - an Italian staple. In previous posts I've mentioned the coffee wasn't to my palate. This was EXACTLY to my tastes. Incredibly flavourful, rich, and full bodied. With almond biscotti and vanilla gelato, it was a perfect end to an amazing meal Taste - 9/10 Plating - 10/10 - everything was beautifully prepared and presented, with obviously a lot of though behind it Decor - 9/10 - a very nice patio on a quiet side street in Vancouver on a sunny day. You can't ask for more Overall: 9.33/10

Yelp
One of the best sandwiches I've had in Vancouver. And yes I did have a few sandwiches in Florence at "All'Antico Vinaio" this past May. Had the Bacco today, steak sandwich with seared tenderloin, red wine mayonnaise, buffalo Glera cheese, arugula and caramelized onions. The steak was well marinated, soft and juicy. I was surprised there was fair amount of meat (though it is a 21$ sandwich). Cheese and greens were a bit less (I personally would have liked a bit more of these fillings and don't think it would detract from the aroma of the steak). The bread I'm pretty sure was freshly baked, and similar to the one I had in Florence it was a nice crunchy top, soft inner texture that can't be found anywhere else in town. I'm happy the sandwich wasn't over salted, a lot of the salt is actually on top of the bread so you could always make adjustments yourself if you please. I'll be back to try other offerings.

Yelp
I've been hearing a lot of good things about this place and saw the cute outdoor patio they had up in the summer. When a friend reached out to meet up in DT, I suggested Fiorino. Looked on their website for a 5:45pm reservation for a Friday night. They didn't have an open slot but the website did say to call or email if there were no openings available so I did. I received a reply back within 1 business day and they were kind enough to accommodate us for the time slot we wanted. When I arrived, the restaurant was less than half full but it was early in the evening. I was seated at a cute corner table beside the bar and the hostess informed me there was still a few minutes left to order the Happy Hour drinks specials. For some reason, their Happy Hour food menu runs from 3pm to 5pm but their drinks from 3pm to 6pm - interesting. Once my friend arrived, our server came by with water and made a few suggestions saying the plates are small and made for sharing. I discovered that my friend actually wasn't the biggest Italian food fan (crazy, I know!) so I suggested we order two mains to share and can order more if needed. My friend agreed so he ordered the Agnolotti and I went with the Gnocchetti. Both pasta dishes were $28 each. We shared both dishes and they were definitely a smaller portion than most Italian joints. The Agnolotti filling of butternut squash and chestnut filling was delicious - nice texture and complimentary flavours. I didn't taste the truffle in its sauce and found the sauce a little too watery for my liking but it did taste good. The pasta was a bit doughy so while the filling was divine, the pasta flour shell didn't quite do it for me. The gnocchetti was made of tiny little gnocchi coated with a wild boar ragú. The ragu was simply divine and the little pieces of gnocchi had a nice chewy texture and eating them didn't make you feel super full of bloated carbs. My friend said he avoids gnocchi but it was simply the best he has ever had and really enjoyed it. I loved the dish as well and would highly recommend! A cute Italian joint with a cozy ambiance in a neighbourhood that needs more gems like Fiorino. I felt safe walking from the Main Street Science World SkyTrain station alone to the restaurant and had my work laptop and large purse with me so not sure what some other Yelp reviews of the neighbourhood is complaining about but as a born and breed Vancouverite I might have a different perspective than others. Would definitely visit again and bring other friends to sample more delicious dishes. Hopefully in warmer weather so we can sit out on the cute patio.

Yelp
What a gem in Chinatown! From the bread/balsamic, to the chicken, and seafood, we were blown away by how delicious every dish was. The restaurant was clean, not very busy, and cute. We were able to find seats quickly at 6pm on a weekday.

Yelp
Every bite from this restaurant was amazing! I will definitely come back to try the other dishes. The ribs were falling off the bone and the sauce was so good! The wait for the food was a little long though but the taste of the food made up for it!

Yelp
Mangiare! Right off the bat - I've written about this neighbourhood in previous reviews & I would be doing a disservice to all if I didn't forewarn anyone coming down here. Let's not beat around the bush - it's in the news daily! Just type in 'DTES' Vancouver, in the Google. This area is definitely not for the faint of heart! A cross between the Walking Dead & your worst nightmare as you mingle with zombies - I kid you not! It takes having big tennis balls these days to open & run a business down here. Ok now to Fiorino - what a delight, a real 'diamond in the rough' for sure. I love the layout & spaciousness inside. The decor transcends one into an Italian villa. The relaxing patio outside can be a challenge unless you don't mind getting hit up on for change, while sipping red wine & trying to eat. I had the Polpette d'Agnello (Lamb meatballs) & an Affogato. Santa Maria both were excellent! Take transit or uber to get here. Leave your car at home & hence you've prevented your rear passenger window from being smashed, to break in & steal the bag of Cheetos laying on the back seat. Fiorino has been open for a year - why am I only discovering it now!?! Come for a taste of Italy, in Chinatown. Arrivederci.

Yelp
This review will be about Fiorino's lunch menu only. Their schiacciata sandwiches are on the pricey side, but as long as the ingredients are good quality and tasty, it's worth it to me. My first experience was pretty good, but the second and third were just okay. Because of this, I don't think I will be in any rush to order from them again. The first time, I ordered the preferita and delicata sandwiches. They were really good, especially the preferita. The mushroom crema is very tasty and almost truffle-like. The prosciutto flavour was overpowered by the mushroom, but I didn't mind. The bread was crispy with salt on top, overall a good match to the sandwich. I preferred this one over the delicata, which was also good (and I think no longer available as I check the menu when writing this review). The sandwiches are a good size and great for sharing. I also ordered their arugula salad, which sadly did not come with any parm - which was the main reason I ordered it. When I called to let them know (I had a takeout order), they said next time I could eat-in and order that dish with 20% off. I have not taken them up on it. The second time, I ordered the diavola and Michelangelo. These were just okay, but the bread was good. The diavola is spicy and there was a meat spread to complement the fillings. I added extra meat for the Michelangelo but didn't feel like there was much more than the usual portion. The Michelangelo is on the sweeter side, because of the honey I guess. They also switched their salad to "tricolore" instead of the one with parmesan. The third time, I ordered the preferita again as that was my favourite of the 4 I tried. I got extra meat as well, and again I didn't notice a big difference from regular meat. Also, for some reason it didn't taste as good as the first time. TL;DR: In order from favourite to least favourite sandwich, I would go with the preferita, delicata, diavola, then the Michelangelo. Skip the extra meat. The lemon Italian soda was much better than the blood orange Italian soda (too bitter). Due to the downhill experience, I don't know if I would order from them again any time soon. However, good to try at least once, for the preferita sandwich and lemon Italian soda.

Yelp
Dine out Vancouver is back and their $45 menu is quite the taste test. The menu itself portion wise is not the biggest, so don't expect a big portion. * Soup ~ it was delicious, super tomato and smooth and creamy. The bread paired with it was delicious and so good! 8/10. * Salad ~ this was well worth the portion biggest thing we got portion wise. Loads of cucumber, cherry tomatoes, grapes and onions. It was a good contrast of flavour. The sweet grapes balanced the dressing from the salad. 9/10. * Pappardelle ~ SOOO GOOD. Portion was super small but it was phenomenal the boar meat was good and perfect Al dente pasta. 100% recommend adding the burrata on top $8 add on but so worth it! 10/10. * Squid steak ~ sooo small not worth it the flavours were good but it was so tiny and small portion it was so not worth the $45. It was also not consistently seasoned throughout some were flavourful and some bites were bland. 3/10. * Tiramisu ~ super creamy and loads of Crema. I wish it had more lady fingers because it lacked texture. 3/10.

Yelp
Went with a group of friends for dinner and our overall experience was good. We got five dishes to share, and my favourite was the Gnocchetti, followed by Cappelletti Tirolesi, then Sformato di Zucchine, Polpo e Nduja (texture of the octopus was good and flavour was not bad overall, just not that unique, plus the portion size was small), and Arancini (just ok for me but my friends enjoyed it). Gnocchetti had a very nice texture. The flavour combination of potatoes, sausage, parmigiano reggiano and chilli flakes was simple yet delicious. Cappelletti Tirolesi was really tasty too, and I like how the Cappelletti's skin is on the thinner side. Yum. Sformato di Zucchine exceeded my expectations. The zucchini souffle was light, fluffy, flavourful, and goes really well with the parmesan crisp (chilli oil added a nice kick to the dish). Service was ok. We made a reservation but still had to wait a little. Understandable since it's a busy restaurant. Just a note that it is quite loud (either from the music or other people talking), so not ideal if you're looking for a quiet place to hang out, but I didn't mind the noise at all. I would definitely be back again for their lunch menu!

Yelp
Part II- dinner menu Ordered: Patate Arrosto Polpo Frito Misto Gnocchi Great vibe at night. Bar busy serving cocktails, house white wine superb for the price. Potatoes appetizer was fluffy and moist with a nice thin crispy crust, perfectly cooked Gotta be the best Gnocchi i ever had, perfect match with the boar ragu. Octopus tenderly cooked paired with tasty pistachio sauce which didn't overwhelm the delicate taste of the octopus. Seafood was lightly battered and cooked to perfection to preserve the flavors of the seafood/vegetables (squid, shrimp, onions, peppers, etc) Top all this off with a flavorful serving of pistachio ice cream for dessert Both lunch & dinner very enjoyable, especially with Gio's friendly knowledgeable menu explanations and his obvious passion shines through.

Yelp
Fiorino, Italian Street Food quietly opened in October in Chinatown. Tuscan tapas/shared plates and wine/cocktails swirling with a minimalist Italian decor in a heritage building is a welcome concept in YVR. The atmosphere is warm and relaxing. Seating is in 4 sections: bar, lounge, long table and booths. My friend and I sat in the lounge with the table next to the big window for dinner. The house wine from Italy was a good paring for the 5 shared plates. My favourite was the Beef Carpaccio (so tender and just melts in your mouth), Lamb Meatballs with the vibrant and delicious salsa verde and the traditional Tuscan tomato soup and awesome side bread. The Fritto Misto and Gnocchi were ok and not my highlight. I really wanted the Polpo but was informed it was just sold out at 6:40pm. We were full but couldn't leave without having the Tiramisu for dessert. The tiramisu is the best in the city. The tiramisu could easily drag me back there for all kinds of reasons. I will definitely be back and very soon.

Yelp
Was so looking to going to Fiorino after just having snacks there a few months ago. What a disappointment!! Service was awful!!! Had my service animal with me and they were completely dismissive and unaccompdating! Our presence seemed to annoy them, We were looking forward to a nice pasta dish however the dinner menu didn't even include a single pasta dish and was so awkward and the food was so salty. The waitress was straight up rude, what an unpleasant experience, will not be return

Yelp
This restaurants has been a place i've been meaning to try for quite some time. I would recommend coming drain their happy hour time. I believe you get $1/1oz of wine? Such a good deal! The food however was a little bland or just extremely salted. I was looking forward to trying their lamb meatballs but they were extremely overly salted to the point I could not finish the appetizer.

Yelp
Food was good, nothing to rave about. I thought the carpaccio and arancini were great starter choices. The crudo was really nice, the passion fruit was a nice touch. The octopus was quite chewy and not very flavourful. Enjoyed the gnochetti it had a good kick to it. The ribs were cooked well, the sauce really added to it. Ambiance wise it's a nice restaurant, the bar is decorated nicely. The service was very basic, we were not sure who our waiter was as multiple people would come by and drop or pick things up but was fine. One of the waitresses had an interesting attitude...

Yelp
tho this was an instagram giveaway prize - all my opinions are unbiased! 1st foodie grp dinner with s and a - part of the lunar new year celebration! we were lucky enough to find parking right in front of the restaurant. the place is spacious, retro and perfect for gatherings - whether that be a date or just a get-together. check-in was a breeze - the usual vaccine passport etc. we started off with happy hour - prosecco bottle for $30 you can't go wrong with that! jamie was our server for the night after mitchel helped with the giveaway bit. jamie was attentive and helpful - def didn't do the awk "how's the first few bites" check when we were mid bite. we did grab the formaggi e salumi (charcuterie board basically) and the carpaccio. both were good but the dinner items def WOW'd us. after the prosecco was done, s had the house red and a order the aperol spritz on hh. i had the franco's cicchetto - bad move cuz it was gin AND limoncello but hey for science! we also learned a fun fact frm jamie - traditionally aperol spritz had olives as a garnish! now for dinner, we did go a little crazy but we were hungry! we had the patate arrosto - the roasted garlic aioli was def the showstopper in this dish. the potatoes were nicely roasted and soft in the inside. next up is the coccoli and prosciutto - stuff that deep fried dough with all the goodies and you have an euphoric mixture of delicious in your mouth. jamie gave us that pointer as well! the gnocchi was soft and pillowy - it was good but paled in comparison with the other dishes. last but not least, the polpo - the octopus was roasted and charred to perfection yet it was still tender. the pistachio sauce added a nice creamy nutty taste to the dish. there are still other items to try and you bet i'm coming back for more!

Yelp
We came here for lunch on a Saturday and got seated right away by a friendly host/server. I got the tomato soup with focaccia and my partner got the prosciutto sandwich. I definitely had order envy but my soup was really perfect for the cold weather. The bread served on the side was honestly even more of a highlight than the soup as it was so rich in flavour (buttery even though I don't imagine they made it with butter) and well seasoned. The portion size of the soup itself could have been bigger though as it was practically like I just had bread with dip lol. The interior is larger than it looks on the outside and is nicely renovated! I'll have to return to try dinner another day.

Yelp
They do great properly crispy arancini and a perfectly flavored chicken saltimbocca, and if you're lucky they'll be served to you by the most handsome waiter you've ever met. Easily accessible by public transportation in the heart of Chinatown.

Yelp
Popped in for a bowl of their tomato soup which is served with a good serving of their bread, it was delicious! $14 a satisfying lunch. There is horrible construction noise from main and east Georgia, not their fault but still very annoying and unpeaceful. Hopefully a temporary situation. I didn't like the music in the restaurant either, it was too loud, would have preferred Italian music more reminiscent of a cafe in Florence.

Yelp
Fiorino, a young Italian in the heart of Chinatown. Or in historic terms, a lily stamped gold coin minted during the revival that was the renaissance. An era that may be upon us once again. Genius lies on the brink of madness and any good Italian eatery will have a controlled chaos to its operations. The Coccoli e Prosciutto showcases semolinas versatility. I find the menu fearless only offering two pasta dishes. A decision as bold as Kanye's verse on Lift Yourself. "Poopy-di scoop. Scoop-diddy whoop. Poop-di-scoopty scoopty-whoop. Poop? Poop? Whoop-diddy-scoop poop". The greatest or worst song of all time? If you ever find that on vinyl, message me right away. Each dish says the ingredients but what you read is not what you could have imagined. It's like Michael Jackson telling his agent he wants to dance around in a red leather jacket among the undead. Or DaVinci saying to his friend "I should paint your wife". You initially think, "sounds cool man" not realizing how iconic their vision turns out to be. The details lie in the imagination and the skill lies in the execution and it takes special talent and experience to possess both of those qualities. Fiorino is a seamless consummation of vintage style meeting modern flavour. The elegance of this food is comparable to the cultural differences between us. When a fight breaks out downtown you'll hear something along the lines of "Yo goof do you know who my cousin is?" Whereas in Florence, a hardship will lead to an opera with a 40 instrument orchestra ending on a dramatic soprano. If my experience was an opera it would end with screaming from the rooftops, silence in the streets, bodies on the floor and a mysterious figure whispering to the slain, "Polpo...... Polpo". Something so good could only come from tragedy.

Yelp
Incredible food - we had the carpaccio, ribs and vegetarián gnocci with hazelnut pesto. Everything was excellent. Tiramisu was one of the best we've ever had. Excellent service. Great little spot, loved the ambiance and interior design.

Yelp
Nice service and a great space. The food I did not love, my main was tuna with butternut squash (already a weird combination) but then covered in a passion fruit sauce with capers. I can honestly say it was one of the most disgusting dishes I've ever eaten. Starter and dessert were good if not exactly spectacular, but that main left me nauseous.

Yelp
First time here and while the food was pretty good the service left a sour taste in our mouth. Our server (a younger woman with reddish hair) was very short and made us feel completely unwelcome. We contemplated leaving many times but the restaurant was heavily recommended to us so we decided to give it a chance. Thankfully the food was pretty good and the gentleman that brought out our dishes was also very friendly which is why I'm giving it a two star review instead of one. We absolutely loved the Caesar salad but the Saltimbocca was not our favorite.

Yelp
We felt welcome as soon as we walked in the door. We were seated immediately. Service was attentive but not overbearing. They have an impressive cocktail list and some nice Italian wines. We shared 4 dishes and they were all tasty. The Frito Misto was pretty heavy on the squid .... Not a variety of seafood. We would have enjoyed a veggie dish but the menu was light in this area. Overall, a delightful experience and we are looking to going back soon.

Yelp
Great food but the portions are very very small so if you are hungry maybe have dinner first

Yelp
Tried the new Italian street food restaurant Fiorino. Pretty good!! I tried the gnuddi, gnocchi, carpaccio, burrata platter, octopus, fritto misto and tiramisu. The tiramisu was one of the best I've ever had. Everything was so yummy but the portions were tiny so I found that price wise things added up super quickly. So worth a try tho!

Yelp
We had an amazing time dining here at Fiorino. The food is unreal and the drinks were great. Definitely worth checking out this gem of a restaurant in Chinatown. I can't wait to come back here again and try the other dishes!

Yelp
This place is a joke. Service is between non-existent and rude. Food was mediocre at best. Pesto gobbed over all the dishes. Lamb had no taste. Saltimbocca was a salt lick. And this place is supposed to be Michelin bib gourmand? Whoever rated them should be fired. Avoid this place. We couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Yelp
Came here with a reservation during our trip to the West Coast, service was alright however my Steak ordered Med rare came chewy and did not end up finishing.

Yelp
We stopped here for a quick drink while waiting for a table at another restaurant. The service at the bar was friendly and the cocktails were amazing. A whole page of Negronis and another full page of Italian cocktails. Definitely returning to try the food as the menu looks good.

Yelp
The food and serve was only average. From the price, I expected more. There are better Italian restaurants around town. I don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
It was a new find as in 2023 Michellin Guide, and I would have given 5 stars if the service was better. Happy hour drinks are available before 6pm, and we ordered a bottle of Sparkling Rose at $35 which is pretty good deal. We asked the server to recommend the best selling dishes, so we ordered accordingly for Arancini, Fritto Misto with a mix of seafood lightly battered deep fried and Ravioli in squid ink. Polpo is the best dish of night with braised Octopus tentacle so tender and moist lushed with flavors. Everything went well until the dish Polpo came as we waited for over 30 minutes after the other dishes, and a supervisor told us at 7:45pm that we should leave our table as they had other customers booked for 8pm. We replied that the last dish Polpo arrived like 2 minutes ago, so they should give us reasonable time to finish and we were not sure at that time whether we can order dessert or not, but it was my friend's birthday which we didn't want to miss out dessert. We told our server that we have waited long time for our food between each dish, so she asked the manager to come to our table. It was even more disappointing that the manager has shown no intention to apologize, but instead told us that normal reservations should be finished in 2 hours. That was very upsetting as we were celebrating our friend's birthday, so why were we suffering from your slow cooking of your kitchen and not acknowledging your own mistake? The food was amazingly tasty, but the service was slow and not customer friendly by pointing fingers to us for being there longer than 2 hours which were not our mistakes. Finally, we ordered Tiramisu and Torta all'Oilo (Olive Oil Cake) which tasted great, too! They finally did one last thing right - comp our desserts! Frankly speaking, we would rather have good service without going through the talks from supervisor to manager about being at our table for too long!

Yelp
We ate at Fiorino a couple nights ago and it was fab. The food was great but what made the experience so good was our incredible server MICHAEL!! He is just the best, if you go in and see him you are so lucky!

Karleen D.

Yelp
good service, lovely space, pasta cooked to perfection, sauces and salad desperately needed salt. It didn't taste like any salt had been added to a dish and if would have made a huge difference. The food itself was great but just...so bland...so so bland without salt.

Yelp
What a wonderful discovery! Perhaps off the beaten path, but well worth a segue for lunch. Delicious Italian sandwiches on in-house baked breads and a wonderful affogato to finish the meal perfectly. Great, friendly staff too, thanks Mitchell!

Yelp
We had just recently visited Italy and found this food was absolutely delicious and delightfully prepared. Our favourite was the Fritto Misto. Having had it on the Amalfi coast, Florence, Cinque Terra and Venice this was the best prepared seafood we have ever had. The atmosphere was dynamic and we will define make this a regular occurrence. We can't wait to try the rest of the menu.
