We came to dine for our anniversary and scheduled our reservation a week in advance to make sure nothing interfered with our night, we even had multiple events to get to afterward. Our schedules could not afford it. We arrived 15 minutes early and let the hostess know. We told her we were early and planned to relax outside and take some pictures, and she asked us to return at our reservation time, which was completely fine.
However, when we returned right on time, the host told us, "I'm so sorry, we still have people at your table and nothing is available yet." I didn't think much of it at first because waiting a few minutes is normal. What I didn't expect was to wait 30 full minutes. Even with a reservation made a week ahead. The whole point of reserving early was to avoid exactly that because of our special night.
I told myself I wouldn't let it ruin the night, because our time is valuable. Frankly, the 30 minutes they wasted is time I could've spent making money if I had been at work. For a place that advertises itself as "upscale," this level of disorganization was surprising.
Once we were seated, things only got worse. Our food arrived 45 minutes after we ordered, meaning we had already been in the restaurant for over an hour and fifteen minutes before we even saw a plate.
During that wait, we ordered drinks AND even those were made incorrectly. I requested a simple strawberry lemonade vodka. Instead, I was given vodka with strawberry syrup. I asked politely for it to be remade because I was driving and didn't need a drink that strong.
The server came back not with a new drink, but with a cup of juice and told me I could "mix it myself."
I've never experienced anything like that in my life.
I requested a corrected drink, not ingredients so I could become the bartender. Not to mention, I genuinely don't understand how an establishment legally serving alcohol can allow customers to adjust their own alcohol content. That's not only unprofessional, it seems like a liability. What if someone didn't know any better, mixed it too strong, drove home, and something happened? Shame on you.
By the time our food finally arrived, we hoped it would at least redeem the night. It didn't. The steak we ordered was completely charred. The entire crust was blackened, and within the first bite I knew the meal was a total loss. The steak we received is absolutely not medium, it's well-done and burnt. Look at the pictures. I'm not a professional chef, but I also would never serve someone a $60 steak in that condition. Did they even look at it before sending it out?
I immediately asked to speak with the manager because at that point, everything had gone wrong.
For an anniversary dinner, we were delayed, rushed, given incorrect drinks, told to mix our own alcohol, served burnt food, and met with passive-aggressive responses when we asked for corrections.
The drinks were overpriced and poorly made. The food was awful, we didn't even eat it after WAITING OVER AN HOUR. And the entire experience made us feel like nothing more than a paycheck to a restaurant relying on its location rather than its quality.
Do yourself a favor. Save $100+ and cook at home, your partner will appreciate you and the experience will be better than what we went through.
With the extra $60 you can go nuts at Aldi with cheap wine and have an even better night.
I rest my case.
