"Firebrand is the answer to a quick, late morning conundrum. The island location of the Oakland-based bakery specializes in wood-fired bread and pastries that are worth crossing town for, especially if you’re with a large group. The old naval base spot is huge (it doubles as their production facility), with lots of tables, seating out front, and plenty of room for kids to run off their sugar highs and for friend gaggles to lay out their carb bounties. There’s usually a crowd, especially on weekends, but the line moves quickly. We always go for the rich biscuit breakfast sandwich filled with sausage, egg, and cheese, a gruyere-stuffed pretzel bomb, and whatever else calls to us from behind the bread counter. " - julia chen 1, lani conway

I really enjoy the food here. The biscuits are great, the Caesar salad is top notch. The Pullman croissant loaf is inexplicable and delicious - the best French toast bread you can buy. Only downside is the lack of shade for the outside seating.

Food is great. Pastries are creative and delicious. Coffee and espresso drinks are also great. The staff is generally friendly (maybe 1 or 2 outliers in many many visits) Giving one star (hopefully temporarily) due to the utensils. When I spend $15 on a salad I expect to be able to at least eat it with ease. This is not something I’ve ever had to think about. They have dull wooden utensils that make this unnecessarily difficult. The fork wasn’t terrible, but I ordered a soup and the only option they have is something that most closely resembles a tongue depresser. How am I supposed to eat soup off a flat piece of wood? Seems like a big oversight. Please bring back normal utensils (and real straws while you’re at it)

Have visited twice. Both times were fire. Have had their tomatoe basil soup and, today, the butternut squash soup. Both very fresh, and tasty. Had their sliders both times. Fire. They make their own buns.. If you can make it out to their Alameda location, highly recommend.

Google
Quick Summary: Large variety of quality breads, pastries, and drinks, tasty food menu with seasonal and holiday specials, served in a relaxed, modern space with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is easy. My experience here has been consistently positive, with friendly staff and a clean space. The baked goods: So many options! Pre-sliced loaves of bread, baguettes, savory pastries, sweet pastries, muffins, cookies, pretzels, gorgeous pullman croissant loaves, they have it all. My top favorites are the savory kouign amann, the classic croissant, the ham and cheese croissant, and the blackberry cream cheese danish. They can heat your pastries up upon request as well. The food: The crispy pork breakfast sandwich with jam on a biscuit is a real treat. It's stuffed with pork and the biscuits are so fluffy and flavorful with crispy edges. If you love the biscuits, you can get it in the form of biscuits and sausage gravy which is equally as satisfying. The wagyu roast beef sandwich is another solid choice with recently improved fries that are crispy on the outside and fluffy on in the inside. The mushroom toast is loaded, and the chicken tortilla soup with house-fried tortilla chips packs a flavorful punch. The drinks: All the tea and coffee drinks my partner and I have tried have been good. The ube latte is a favorite, and the seasonal drinks are always fun to try. I don't drink coffee, so I've tried the maple, buko pandan, and hazelnut drinks as steamers. The flavors are always spot on!

Google
This review is mostly for the Caesar salad. I had the kale Caesar salad a few months ago and it was amazing. Went back recently and the salad now has no kale, despite still being advertised as having baby kale and romaine (and several inedible stems). All romaine now. Such a bummer. I would still try their sandwiches and other salads, but I would have to double check with staff about what ingredients are actually included.

Went to Firebrand Artisan Breads's Alameda location recently, which is always a great excuse to eat more pastries! 😆 Seating inside is kind of awkward, as it's positioned around the ordering line, but there's also an outside patio. Be sure to bring a sweater, though, because you never know how much of a breeze is going to kick up on that end of Alameda. My friend went for the BLT, made on Firebrand bread, of course! I opted for the spicy chicken sandwich, and it was fantastic! So flavorful without going over my spice limit. The dressing for the side salads was quite nice as well, though I do prefer when a salad is more than just lettuce. Of course, there's also those pretty pastries! I split them with Ben later on. My favorite was probably the espresso buckwheat chocolate chip cookie, which had the right amount of bitterness for me to combine with the sweet. The matcha croissant was filled to the brim inside with a very creamy matcha sauce. Quite tasty! But you do lose the bread in the midst of that cream. The hazelnut chocolate kouign amann hit the spot, and its filling was also creamier than I expected. I'm glad Firebrand could expand to Alameda!

Google
Wonderful place to get breakfast, fresh bread and pastries. It gets very busy so be prepared for lines. The indoor seating is limited but they have plenty of outdoor tables. The food is delicious. I am definitely gonna come back and try their lunch menu.

Google
I didn’t think it was possible for counter service to be so slow. Just taking orders and pushing buttons. Needs better staffing. I just wanted some pastries to go. Also fyi no toasts after 11am.

Yelp
Firebrand is a great addition to the offerings in Spirits Alley and super awesome it is right next to Almanac. The fresh bread selection is solid and we really love their sandwiches. All in all a great place to grab a bite for breakfast or lunch.

Yelp
We arrived at Firebrand Bread cafe around 10:20 AM and encountered a bit of a line, which is always a good sign! After about a 23-minute wait, we were able to place our order. We tried the Pulled Pork with fried potatoes, the Fried Egg with Jam, and the Honey Biscuit (though the croissant was tempting!). While the flavors were enjoyable, I found the pulled pork lacking in seasoning. The Breakfast Pizza was an interesting concept, but the egg yolk was a bit overcooked for my preference. I felt the overall flavor profile was a bit too salty. Despite these minor observations, Firebrand Bread has a fantastic location across from the sports fields, and their outdoor seating area is absolutely lovely! I've heard great things about their croissants, and my son has always been a fan. Perhaps we just had an off day this time around.

Paloma Z.

Yelp
Horrible customer service from the staff at the register to the supervisor. it seems nobody cares here. had an unpleasant experience here wont be back. Also , do not order the pico de gallo potato bowl unless your ok with having a pound of potato's for breakfast that is all it is.

Jason V.

Yelp
Inedibly terrible pizza. Too much cheese, very salty. No distinctive flavor. Made me sad.

Samantha C.

Yelp
The aesthetics of this bakery reminded me of Amsterdam; it was so cute and the interior was beautiful. If you go in the morning the sun shines in and it is just the best place to hangout with friends to grab a pastry in the morning! They have ritual coffee which I really like and I ordered a capp. We also ordered their breakfast pizza which has egg! We also ordered their French toast, a kouign aman, and a couple other pastries. Everything was so good! The texture of the kouign aman was everything I could ask for.. perfect crispness and sweetness. Can't wait to come back and eat the other pastries!

Yelp
Firebrand is a great addition to Spirits Alley on the old Alameda naval base. It is directly next to a couple breweries and right across from a sports complex/gym. Such a great spot for this business! They have: -Specialty lattes like Buko Pandan, Tumeric Ginger, and Strawberry Matcha; -Lots of different pastries like a bomboloni, chocolate croissant, etc -Bottled drinks: water, apple juiced -Assortment of Numi Teas -A full menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner items, including pizza! If you go to breakfast, I highly recommend the Pico de Gallo Potatoes or the Biscuits and Gravy! So delicious and filling. Their Mushroom Melt toast is also a great go-to if you're looking for something smaller to eat. Other things I love about this place: - you can order food and bring it with you to the breweries right next door! - it's family friendly, with a cool jumbo connect four game and cornhole outside - there is indoor and outdoor seating The only downside is that the wait can be really long if you are there on the weekends and going at the hour mark when soccer classes across the street are done. This usually happens at 9, 10 and 11am so plan accordingly. Sometimes, you could get lucky though and breeze right on through the line. Doesn't stop me from going every Sunday!

Jeannette W.

Yelp
This is one of the best lunch spots in Alameda. There's plenty of free parking so it's not a struggle like when you go to places on Park or Webster. There is a nice outdoor area dining area with picnic tables and umbrellas when you want some fresh air and sunshine and a bright indoor dining area for the days it is too cold or wet to be outside. Sometimes the baked goods are a little on the dry side for my liking but I love their hot dishes. Everything is made to order and just tastes clean and healthy. The tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich are my favorite. They are a perfect combo for Alameda because the weather is usually cool enough so you can have this any day of the year. The BLT is also amazing. The bread is toasted just right. The salads are on the expensive side but they are very hearty and big enough to share. Don't skip the soft serve. That's always a fun treat. But if you want to take something for later, grab one of their fabulous espresso cookies.

Yelp
What a cool place this is tucked amongst the relics of the former Naval base in Alameda. As soon as you open the door, the smell of baked goods hits you. As you approach the counter you are dazzled with the variety of foods ranging from loaves of bread, to cookies, pretzels, croissants, danishes, bombolonis, and kouign amanns. And of course their artisan coffees and meals. Having seen the reviews in the SF Chronicle and being down the street today, how could I pass the opportunity up? I was hungry so the order included a ham and cheese croissant for me, a passion fruit bomboloni for my friend and the chocolate swirl and almond croissant for the hubby. Ham and cheese croissant had baked on cheese and three slices of spiral ham along with a nice slice of cheese. Winner!! The chocolate swirl is beautiful and so light but for us, more chocolate please. The almond croissant is also feather light and needed more of the almond pastry cream is all. I can't wait to come back for more treats! Parking right out the door. Please support this local business.

Yelp
Some great pastries and food Matcha croissant - amazing! Very matcha and filled with cheaux cream, so good!! It's like beard papa x croissant. My favorite thing from here Almond croissant - large and tasty, it is unique in that it has a hint of a citrus zest. Though not the best almond paste, it does the job and is great! Goat cheese pretzel - underwhelming and dry, not much herb flavor and wouldn't recommend Espresso cookie - super yummy and love the texture. Would recommend Kids chicken fingers and fries - low salt, perfect for my almost 2 year old toddler. Chicken was crispy and fries were medium well done but not to crispy. Portion was large and we shared You can sit inside or outside, there is a large connect 4 game to keep your kids busy and self serve water is a blessing on hot days Overall would return, especially if visiting Almanac next door

Yelp
3.5: Went on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't too crowded, but it was a very lively location. As someone who indulges in matcha, I don't think it's great. Their coffee is probably better but I can't attest to it as I did not try it. The pastries looked delicious so I got the matcha croissant and the hazelnut kouign aman. The matcha croissant had some matcha cream in it, but it was not as strong as I would like and the kouign aman definitely had to be reheated for proper enjoyment.

Christine S.

Yelp
Great croissants! Great baguettes! Great cappuccino! The kouign amann is a no for me but do you, boo boo.

David D.

Yelp
Unfortunately as my second time coming to this place I had the unpleasant experience of ordering a simple breakfast sandwich on a croissant with egg bacon and cheese but the cheese I paid for didn't come and when I went to ask one of the staff members called Devin or something, the dude was an a**hole, has no customer service and respect for the customer. He made sure to have an terrible attitude and to make it seem like I was the one who didn't make the correct request and on top of that made no effort to help me with my wrong order. These young generation of staff members are what is costing these business owners their customers, due to having no respect or empathy for their clients. I ended up having to eat a drya$$ croissant with egg and bacon that costed me $20 with tip. I should've never tipped and I really hope AI take their jobs away.

Alyzza T.

Yelp
I got some pastries this morning and the matcha tasted weird. I've had it a few times before and really liked it but the filling of the one I got today tasted super sour and acidic not the regular bitterness of matcha. I threw it out just to be safe. The morning bun that I got was burnt. The chocolate kouign amann that my son got was good and the ham and cheese croissant was ok. I would def come back but would pass on the matcha.

LindseyMindsey C.

Yelp
Came back for breakfast since I was in the area. OmG, everything we ordered was tasty: - ham n' cheese croissant - warmed buttery, oozing w/ham n' cheese goodness - tuna melt - really good eating, loaded with mushrooms n' cheese - match latte - was not weak and not too sweet; purfection Needless to say, I'll be back for sure. Do yourself a favor and try FBrand if you haven't already.

Yelp
Firebrand is lit. Fresh bakery/pasteries, cold & hot brew, great pizza and food. Straight fire!!!!! Any time I'm in the area, I make sure to get a fresh baguette and some pastries for the family. If you're ever needing to get stuffed, their loaded potatoes will keep you full for the entire day. Make sure to add bacon and a fried egg :) The factory in Alameda is super kid friendly w/ games and activities outside. Not to mention a big parking lot for you and the kids to run around and burn off those carbs.

S F.

Yelp
Just a wonderful place to sit and eat yummy pastries. Once you're don't run off the calories on the adjacent retired airport runway. Then come back for a second round. Brilliant business plan!! FYI. Croissants are the stars here.

Yelp
Delicious prepared food, fresh pastries and baked goods, spacious outdoor and clean indoor dining areas, great views of the bay, awesome staff - what can you ask for from one of the best bakeries on the east bay? We came here on a nice day with the sun out and were pleasantly surprised with the picnic benches outside where many patrons decided to dine. With umbrellas for shade, a giant connect four game to entertain, and plentiful parking spots, Firebrand is conveniently situated for a stress-free outing with the family, friends, or coworkers (assuming you're already in Alameda or planning to come into the island), and due to its proximity to the bay, you'll enjoy nice open areas to enjoy your day afterwards. They open early and tend to sell out of the popular pastries early so get in when you can! We unfortunately did not get to try the matcha croissant but will definitely keep in mind next time we come around. The other pastries and baked goods were delicious! And if you're a fan of their bread, they distribute them through other stores like Whole Foods. When you enter the building (it looks huge from the outside but the actual bakery/dining area isn't too big), hang a left and get in line. It tends to move quick but it's good to take the time to decide what you'll be ordering. You can grab a menu for the prepared food or just use your eyes for the pastries. As we were dining here for lunch, we ordered a number of goodies to share. The prepared food comes out piping hot and they'll bring it to your table (you get a number upon placing your order). You're expected to bus your own table but everything comes out in mini stackable sheet trays so cleanup is easy. The pizza is the thin crust variation but has a good crisp down the edges. The ingredients they use are exceptional - fresh arugula and hearty mushroom slices on the mushroom pizza. The pizzas are decent sized and can certainly feed a 2-3 people depending on their hunger level. We also ordered the roast beef sandwich and it was very meaty with a good helping of fresh arugula as well. It comes with fries or salad but we opted for the fries which came out hot, crispy, and lightly seasoned. Of the baked goods, their butter croissant is on point, Gruyère pretzel bomb is a unique bite, the goat cheese pretzel is yummy (if you like goat cheese), and the chocolate chip cookie is loaded! There are still so many more to try - I cannot wait to come back! Overall, Firebrand definitely has that artisan feel with their breads and pastries but also serves up some hearty meals that are indeed shareable. Since they also distribute their goods to local shops, I foresee them sticking around for awhile. But don't wait! Those pastries are flying off their shelf quick and you won't want to miss a chance to taste their innovative creations!

Yelp
Quality/Quantity - My buddy is a regular customer, but he usually buys it from his local markets near his home. He was surprisingly pleased to find you here while we were wine and beer tasting. He got a loaf of the whole wheat walnut and a few pastries. Prep time for kitchen foods is a minimum of 15 minutes, so please be patient. Also available - Breakfast, sandwiches, salads, soups, pizza, brunch and ice cream, coffee, smoothies, etc. Lastly, they have a kids menu. See pictures. Atmosphere - Cool simple clean decor, interior, see picture. Plenty of parking. Indoor and outdoor seating. Open 5 days a week from 8am to 8pm, closed Mon & Tue. Service - Good. Price - Above average, but that is the cost for quality. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2008. Look forward to coming back with my daughter.

Cathya L.

Yelp
I love coming here to purchase bread (their pull apart bread and loafs are really good). They also have great iced coffees, iced matcha lattes and other seasonal beverages that are all good. I also love coming here for their brunch menu. This past time I got the croissant sandwich which has a sausage patty, an egg and I got it on a croissant bread. It comes with potatoes on the side which are to die for! To add a little freshness I paid for avocado to be added. It does get pretty busy on the weekends for brunch but the line goes quick and the kitchen staff is even quicker to get your order out.

Yeang-Shin P.

Yelp
Hubby was craving for some pastries and I decided we should check out a new bakery and found Firebrand by chance on Yelp. Now I can't wait to return! We decided to come to their Alameda location since there's outdoor seating and we can bring our dog with us. Since they are based in a warehouse, the space is huge and open. A We got a box of pastries (morning bun, pear danish, plain croissant, and a savory kouign amann). It was all delicious! They also serve pizza over wood fire and you know that's good be good! We came by around 10:30am and the line was fairly light, but by the time we were leaving, there were lines that were forming and more people started coming in.

Karen C.

Yelp
Firebrand Artisan Breads is a nice spot to grab a casual breakfast or meal. You order at the counter and then find a seat. Depending on when you arrive, it might be crowded and you may need to wait. They have bread/pastries as well as food items. If you order a food item (pizza, sandwich, etc), be prepared to wait while they prepare the food! I often struggle to find pastries that aren't overly sweetened, but found a few favorites here that meet my personal taste. My favorites are the Ube Latte, espresso buckwheat cookie, and the matcha croissant. The Ube latte isn't too sweet and has a really nice Ube flavor that stands out. The espresso buckwheat cookie has a really strong coffee/espresso flavor, so it isn't overwhelmingly sweet. Lastly, the matcha croissant is flaky with a silky matcha filling. The matcha actually stands out in this croissant. Matcha in itself is bitter, but they added the right amount of sweetness to balance out the bitterness. The items that I got did not disappoint, but I'll be back to try so meal items like their sandwiches and pizza.

Alicia L.

Yelp
WOW! Just WOW!!! I was so impressed with every pastry that I bought today! As a croissant connoisseur, I've searched high and low for the best croissant and I think that Firebrand wins my vote for my favorite Ham and Cheese Croissant in East Bay!!! It has a perfectly crisp exterior and the Ham and Cheese in the center was very flavorful and delicious! I also got the Morning Bun and Nutella Kouign Amann and both were excellent! Everything is also very reasonably priced here. Can't wait to try their other pastries and lattes!

Winnie V.

Yelp
I LOVE buttery, flaky pastries, and Firebrand makes some of my fave! Their savory danish with tomato and caramelized onions is ~chef's kiss~! Same with their blackberry cream cheese danish. I love their mix of both savory and sweet options, and you don't have to worry about them selling out early in the day. Aside from the danishes, I've also tried their savory kouign amann, which has an everything bagel cream cheese filling, their ham and cheese croissant and matcha croissant, their passion fruit bomboloni, and a big French loaf. The only thing I didn't particularly care for was the matcha croissant, which had a tangy yogurt taste to it - not sure if I just got a bad one that day. Aside from that, everything I've had has been fantastic!

Yelp
WHEN: Sun @Noon PARKING: Lucked out on a spot in their lot. They have spaces on both the right and left side of the bakery, all free. Came here a bit late so there's a line to order that extended all the way outside. They serve all sorts of food here: breakfast, lunch, pastries, and pizza! It's super family-friendly with lots of space outside including a play-ish area. Plenty of seatings indoors and outdoors, free Wi-Fi, but only maybe one outlet to use if you sit in the far back corner inside on the right (near the bathrooms). Here's what I got on my first visit: SAUSAGE, EGG & CHEESE - $15 Sausage patty, Fried Egg, and Cheddar on their savory honey biscuit or croissant. Potatoes. We chose biscuit and it was a huge one! I think the best part of this dish were the potatoes--seasoned and crispy! So good. The breakfast sandwich was good too. I've been here a few times now since, and clearly I really like it here. Some other items I've had are: MATCHA CROISSANT - $5.50 Sadly this was underwhelming and not what I expected. I thought it would be like a chocolate or almond croissant where there is a nice filling that was matcha, but it wasn't. This was more like green-dyed dough that was wrapped within the layers of the buttery dough, creating this beautiful ribbon pattern. It sure is pretty but tasted like a regular croissant. OATMEAL PECAN CRANBERRY COOKIE - $4 I get the feeling this was better eaten straight out of the oven. It was good but pretty hard, and I wished it was nuked. Great snack though. ESPRESSO BUCKWHEAT - $4 Interestingly good! Give it a shot! SAVORY SCONE - $5 Not dry and good, fun to pick out while I worked here. I like being here a lot and my only complaint would be that there is no air-conditioning. So on a hot day, it gets pretty warm inside. Still not enough to keep me away though, hehe.

Yelp
Firebrand was our rest stop during our bike ride today, and thankfully they were open for the morning on Christmas Eve! There's plenty of outdoor seating and the inside is very spacious and open (though I don't think I saw any indoor seating). If you're planning on making a stop here, there is no need to worry about parking because there's plenty around! For breakfast, my partner ended up getting their holiday Peppermint Hot Chocolate with Oatmilk and topped with whip cream. He also opted for their popular Matcha Croissant. I opted for a Tumeric Oatmilk Latte and paired it with a Vegan Apple Spice Muffin! Pastries are given at the counter, and names will be called when your drink(s) is ready. My Tumeric Oatmilk Latte was quite delicious! The tumeric is quite evident. Almost a little overwhelming, but a very comforting and warming spice for a chilly day like today. As for my Apple Spice Muffin, I thought it was a little too dense for a muffin, but I'm guessing it's because of the apples or applesauce mixed in there. It's moist, and just subtly sweet. I still enjoyed it! I had a few bites of my partner's Matcha Croissant, and it was not bad. I can see the appeal of it with all the Matcha cream oozing out when you eat it. It's definitely on the heavier side for pastries. Rich and very matcha-y. However, as a personal preference, I think I'd most likely choose the regular Almond Croissant over the Matcha, even if I haven't tried it yet. All their pastries looked beautiful and we'll definitely stop by again during another bike ride!

Yelp
Great new artisan bakery located at Alameda Point in an old naval warehouse. This is the 2nd location (original spot in Uptown Oakland) serving a variety of breads, pastries, breakfast and brunch options along with Ritual Coffee. I met up with some friends for breakfast (9am) and ordered the: Crispy Pork and Jam with an over easy egg. The description sounds amazing but there was nothing crispy about the pork and more of a pulled pork. Unfortunately, egg wasn't runny but still an enjoyable breakfast sandwich with blackberry jam to give that sweet and savory combo I love. I would recommend the breakfast sandwich with the croissant over the biscuit. Friend said it was hard to eat and biscuit a bit dry unless you get an over easy egg. Side of potatoes had a slight crisp with some rosemary and accompanied with a spicy aioli - 4 stars Wonderful baked options though I didn't find my fave item: olive fougasse that they have at the original location. Cute, casual spot with plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. The area seems "out there" (west side of Alameda) but once you get to Firebrand you see the crowd. Based on observation, it's almost a prerequisite to have a kid or pup dining with you. I'm bias to the 4-legged kids as they're so cute (like a pet parade!) and well behaved. Yup I said it...okay, there are sweet, adorable kiddies but all it takes is a couple of screaming kids (parents are oblivious, don't care OR desensitized) to (mildly) ruin the vibe and it's like OMG! and good time to make an exit. Located across from Faction Brewery and next to Almanac Brewing. Will return for brunch/lunch and visit the Makers Market (at Faction Brewery) every 4th Sunday (last one for 2023: 11/26 12-5pm

Yelp
Came here after the Alameda Antique Fair, great place with awesome food and coffee/tea after the shopping! Feel luxury !

Jessica L.

Yelp
More items I've tried and really enjoyed: BBQ Chicken Pizza and Pepperoni Pizza, both with a slightly chewy and fluffy crust, and crispy bottom towards the edges. Super melty, miles-long cheese pull fresh mozzarella cheese. The BBQ chicken pizza has a nice sweet BBQ sauce, big chunks of tender chicken, bacon bits, red onions and some cilantro on top. The pepperoni pizza has pepperoni cups that get a little crispy at the edges. The sliders are also great! Thick, flavorful beef patties with toppings that work really well together. The buns are toasted, there's mayonnaise and mustard, a bit of grilled onion, relish, cheese, a thick pickle slice, and bacon bits. The matcha latte is fantastic. Creamy, matcha-y, just sweet enough!

Amy S.

Yelp
Dogs are not allowed inside it is an open bakery. There is no way to order from outside. I got the sliders fries and a sparkling water for $40. Outdoor seating is picnic tables no umbrellas. A QR code on the tables for ordering would have encouraged me to get the ice cream but I didn't want to leave my dog outside.

Amy Z.

Yelp
Beautiful pastries! The coffee is really good here too! We ordered a pumpkin spice latte, I like that it's not too sweet. Pretty chill place to eat brunch on the weekends, plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors Line can get pretty long. The staffs are really friendly and helpful

Mrs. D.

Yelp
Seriously, this spot is freaking FIRE! This place is spacious and clean.check out those buns, this sandwich had shredded pork, egg with a jam spread. So good! Thank you! I recommend you come taste their delicious pastries they have so many. Also those potatoes were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside as they should be. FIRE!

Raul R.

Yelp
Tried to modify an order for my wife, cashier stated that they couldn't , we asked why and they said the people in the kitchen " don't speak English" .... Never should it be ok to not only limit customer service like this especially at a food place, but the lack of effort to satisfy our needs and disrespect the cooks hard at work by putting them in a box of " not understanding" shows carelessness and rudeness Foods great, but ethics are questionable Asked 3 people for manager, I couldn't get one Customer service isn't welcoming either, cashiers don't give a shit

Emily B.

Yelp
Love Firebrand! Wonderful food (the oatmeal pecan cranberry cookie is perfect.) yummy sandwiches and salads at lunch.

Marina S.

Yelp
This place was okay. The line was huge which was expected on a Saturday morning. It moved pretty quick and although there was a 15 min wait for food posted, the food came quicker. The staff were friendly. The food was nothing special for the amount of people in this place. Also, something I disliked was that single people would hog tables meant to seat 4. I've seen other coffee shops post signs on the tables with minimum people required to sit. This coffee shop would benefit from those signs:)

I love the ambiance of this location, it's not too busy on the weekdays. Perfect spot to grab a coffee and work. It's a small cafe storefront with a large industrial bakery in the back. You can get hints of freshly baked breads from time to time. The aroma is delicious. I love their chocolate croissants and morning buns. They serve a great lunch menu as well. I typically order the BLAT with turkey with the fries. Their potatoes are always sooo crispy and delicious. Overall great weekday cafe stop for either lunch, brunch or pastries.

Yelp
Was recommended to come here in a WFH day from a friend and it did not disappoint! Plenty of parking in front, clean bright interior, lots of space, delicious food and drinks! I already ate before coming here so I didn't try any of the food items but everyone's food looked so good! I got the holiday drink cause they still had it! The peppermint latte was so good and I also got the matcha croissant. The croissant was so good and the matcha cream inside was delicious. You can taste the matcha really well! Workers here are also nice. Would come back to try other coffees, pastries as well as food items!

Yelp
My boyfriend ordered pizza - pepperoni and margarita. The pizza was pretty greasy. The pepperoni was really good compared to the margarita. Definitely has better pizza, but if you are hungry the pepperoni will be satisfying. I'd skip the margarita.

Yelp
Cute local spot. I had their banana walnut bread and it was very cinnamon forward and a bit too sweet for my liking - perhaps this was also in part due to the cinnamon sugared crust, but the consistency was pretty fantastic. As a note supply their baked goods to a variety of local cafes in the Bay Area.

Yelp
Omg. I'm in heaven. The specialty drinks are unique and fun, the sandwiches are so good and I love the fried or salad. We really enjoyed our meal. Oh and they sell pastries galore. My fave. I will be back.

Yelp
Delicious baked goodies, excellent lunch/dinner, AND coffee!? It's a challenge not to make a tasty trip to Firebrand on a daily basis. Service is awesome and overall chill atmosphere- definitely a little gem tucked away in a warehouse. I'd post pictures of my scone but I ate it, whoops.

Yelp
I've bought their artisan bread from their original location on Broadway in Uptown Oakland and was happy to hear that they opened a baking facility and Café at Alameda Point. They are located in a former Naval base building next to Faction Brewery. If you can't find a spot in front, there is plenty of parking around the corner on Pan Am Way. After having some beers at Faction, we went next door to check out Firebrand around 1:30pm on a Sunday. As you walk in, you see are the display of delicious looking pastries, muffins, cookies, pretzels and loaves of artisan breads. I enjoy croissants and the matcha croissant caught my eye and decided to get it to go. The cashier that was one of their top sellers and I got the last one. Had it for dessert that evening and the flaky croissant was glazed with chocolate and dusted with matcha powder. It was filled with a smooth matcha filling that was not sweet nor bitter, which matcha can be. Perfect matcha flavor. It was delish and would definitely buy it again. I saw the menu and besides bakery goods, they served breakfast, toasts, starters, sandwiches, salads, soups, pizzas, ice cream, coffee, tea and smoothies. On weekends, they have brunch selections. I'll be back to try some of the menu items and enjoy in the bright and airy dining area. Happy to have Firebrand in Alameda.

Yelp
Such an awesome place! Definitely one of the best croissants I've ever had, the matcha one specifically. I also recommend the breakfast pizza, the bacon is perfect on it. We loved the outdoor seating for hanging with our dog and larger group. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
New restaurant alert ! After finding out about this cafe on Alameda Peeps my family went to check out Saturday morning. Big mistake...as others thought the same thing! Really happy for this new food addition on the base and with great hours and look forward to them figuring out how to manage crowds. In the mean time have lots and lots of patience! It was our fault as we decided to come knowing it was new and with a toddler and newborn no less so our party got antsy for an hour wait for food. Everything we had was very tasty though. Lots of pastries even loaves of bread if you want it. What we ordered: - iced matcha latte (I needed to add some sugar) - matcha croissant that had matcha filling inside. So good. - Chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies (crispy edges with soft middle - perfection) - avocado toast - Pork with blackberry jam breakfast sandwich with egg . Yummm. Potatoes that it came with were very crispy and tasty. Good portions as I packed half home Other things to note: - pretty awesome that they serve lunch and dinner - right across from Bladium so that crowd is coming in too - tables inside and outside. Outside picnic tables are dog friendly - parking available in the lot right out front - no changing table in bathroom (would suggest putting one in!) I know there's a spot in Oakland too - welcome to Alameda!

Yelp
If you're in the area, it's a nice place to grab a snack or a coffee. However the area is very specific to the other businesses nearby. The close parking lot is also very limited. They had several spots for EV or low emissions vehicles but most folks ignored that. That's not the businesses fault, though something to be aware of if you have personal mobility issues. However there is a larger lot across the street. The coffee was okay, not bad though I wouldn't make a trip specifically for the coffee (given the location).

Yelp
I've recently discovered Firebrand and heard they opened a new location. There may be a wait during the weekends in the mornings, but the line does move fast. I've been here both times on a weekend afternoon, and they still had a good selection of pastries and breads left. They also have plenty of parking outside, which is a plus. My partner and I decided to try out a bunch of their pastries, drinks, and food. We got the sausage egg and cheese, and to our surprise, it was really delicious since we both don't really gravitate towards breakfast foods. The portion size was filling, and the sausage patty was huge. Their biscuit bread was also really delicious and different from the traditional biscuits. We tried to use the lavender latte, and both were really good. The coffee flavor was prominent while still keeping the flavor profile. My iced ube latte also did not taste watered down. As for pastries, we ordered quite a lot, but our favorites were the matcha croissant, rhubarb danish, savory kougin amann, bombolini, and ham and cheese croissant. Their croissants are packed, and they don't cheap out. The matcha croissants were flaky, filled with cream, and were not overly sweet. The ham and cheese had tons of thick ham slices. The savory kougin amann was really unique since I mainly had sweet ones before, but I found this savory one to be really delicious and actually prefer this over the sweet ones. They used this savory cream cheese filling that tasted like everything bagel and a mix of chives/green onion. The rhubarb danish was a good mix of sweet and savory, which I really liked. We also had the passion fruit bombolini, which is similar to malasadas. They were filled with the cream and are a soft, pillowy donut that was also not too sweet. The only thing I didn't really like as much as was the goat cheese pretzel. It was super hard to bite into and was really dry. I'm not sure if it was out for too long or not.

Yelp
This place is still 5 stars! My review is still the same but I'm adding some photos from my most recent visit.

Yelp
Clean place with plenty of seating. There was a large group in front of me but service was quick and friendly. The buko pandan latte was sweet and creamy. The pretzel sticky bun is so good. The dough was hearty with a nice chew. Sweet, sticky glaze, toasty nuts, and a bunch of tiny raisins crammed in the center. I would go back again to try the bun warmed up!

Yelp
I'm a huge bread lover and this place has solid bread but the wait time is too much.. I had brunch here with some friends over the weekend and it took 30 minutes to get our food even though they told us it would be a 15 minute wait. But another friend's food took a whole hour. I understand it was a busier weekend but that's unacceptable especially for how disappointing our meal was. The spicy chicken sandwich was not edible- I love spicy food but this wasn't even a nice spice. The spicy did not taste good and I can't tell if it was the fried chicken itself, the spicy sauce or the peppers because all the spices were just mixed in together. Regardless, meh. The clam chowder is watered down. The margherita pizza lacks so much flavor. Save yourself some time and only get the pastries or the to go breads. The best thing I had was the matcha pistachio croissant, very fluffy and not too sweet.

Yelp
I was pretty underwhelmed with our experience. Maybe it was because I'd been wanting to come here for months or the fact that there's always a long line, but I really expected more. We got there early on a Sunday morning and there was already a full crowd at the picnic tables. We snagged an indoor table but it was still pretty packed so we split the other end with another family. The pastries and bread all looked and smelled great. We went for a savory pretzel and the lemon curd French toast. Um. That pretzel round was just like a plain roll with a bit of salt. Not really a crunchy exterior or anything pretzel like. I thought the hot food would be better. At least it came out in the quoted 15 minutes. But MAN it was way too sweet and the croissant bread was burnt on the ends so it just wasn't doing it. Ritual coffee is good. Stick with a drip because the lattes have too much milk, as evidenced by our mocha and matcha latte. My stomach was not happy afterwards. So I'm glad I finally tried it. Maybe pizzas are the way to go here but I'd be really hesitant to come back.
