Firecakes Donuts is a charming spot serving up a delightful array of artisanal donuts and coffee, perfect for a sweet quick stop in the city.
"Those thick donuts made in the season three montage belong to Firecakes, one of the city’s best spots for donuts. This boutique shop has four spots in Chicago, and is known for their donuts with excellent toppings. Their seasonal specialties include limited-time donuts inspired by the show, like a cherry bismarck named Sydney, and a wildflower honey Bear bun. But our favorite mainstay is the vanilla donut with crunchy pearls on top. " - adrian kane, nick allen
"After the world fell out of love with cupcakes a few years ago, a bunch of boutique donut shops started opening around Chicago. Firecakes in River North was one of those spots and has thankfully managed to stay around. They have great seasonal specialties (like a gooey meyer lemon or apple-spiced), but our favorite is their vanilla iced. The vanilla flavor is strong without tasting like extract, and it comes with little crunchy pearls. We can’t leave here without one." - adrian kane, john ringor
"In addition to a classic selection of doughnuts, Firecakes offers seasonal flavors including apple cider, churro, and Irish creme. Doughnuts also serve as the base for ice cream sandwiches, which come adorned with toppings such as sprinkles, caramel, and chocolate shavings. Firecakes also has locations in Lincoln Park and suburban Oak Park and Naperville." - Samantha Nelson, Eater Staff

"Firecakes Donuts has Donutgrams for sale over the weekend, a red box of a dozen mini-yeast doughnuts decorated to look like roses." - aimee.levitt
