My evening at the Fireside began around 5 p.m., joining friends in the rear outdoor seating area. One ordered a tea, another a Miller Lite, while I enjoyed a Heineken. The setting was marked by fresh air and leafy decor with birds flitting overhead. Soon, my family arrived for dinner. Our table featured a variety of dishes, from lemon garlic hummus and a smoked turkey sandwich to the indulgent Jacked Up burger. My burger, ordered well done, was flavorful, although a bit heavy on the barbecue sauce. When my sister mentioned to the server that the zucchini served with her hummus was a little dry, they promptly brought out a complimentary dip. As the evening unfolded, the outdoor area steadily filled, indicating that most diners, like us, preferred the pleasant backyard seating. In all, it was an easygoing, enjoyable evening with attentive service and a very reasonable bill. No surprise that Fireside has remained a Northside go-to for decades.
