Brewery with tours, pub fare, and acclaimed IPAs.
"OK so this massive brew pub is technically in Marina del Rey, but they like to call this their Venice location, so, whatever. They have great food, lots of screens, and are pouring house-made beers, making this spot a Westside favorite. Get there early if you definitely want a seat for the game." - kat hong, james montgomery
"You can get Firestone Walker’s core beers at pretty much any grocery store, but you’ll have to go to their Venice location to see the full scope of what they produce. They’ve got tons of different options, from their Double Jack (one of the best double IPAs around, period), to all kinds of Barrelworks sours, saisons, and wild ales, all of which are perfect for this time of year. Order pick-up via their website, or delivery available via apps." - brett keating
" If You Want To Taste A World-Class Blend. Firestone Walker really brought out the big guns for their blend of this stout - 55% fresh stout brewed using Weathered Souls’ recipe, 30% Parabola (their fantastic barleywine) aged in Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels, and 15% Velvet Merkin (another excellent stout) aged in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels for 14 months. It’s a super-sweet, boozy blend that you’re going to love. Proceeds go to The NAACP Legal Defense Fund." - Brett Keating
"Paso Robles is more of a weekend trip than a day trip - it’s a bit over three hours from LA - but it’s still highly worth visiting for Firestone Walker Brewery. Firestone’s campus takes up an entire street, just off the 101, and you can get some of the best - and first truly great - California craft beer. They’ve got a restaurant on site, too, so take your food and (ideally numerous) beers with you up to Lake Nacimiento, in the northern part of the town. You have to pay $15 to get into the lake’s recreation center, but it’s worth it for the Shoreline Trail, which goes through campgrounds along the lake and has some excellent views. And if you’re there for a weekend, spend the rest of your time drinking at the number Central Coast wineries in the area." - Brett Keating
"California’s fourth-largest craft brewery is bringing its hoppy ales to the Midway this Saturday. Hailed as brewers of some of the finest IPAs in the country, don’t skip this booth even if you think hops aren’t for you. Give them a chance to change your mind." - Terry Horstman
