"Over the weekend, a Dallas man was booted from the Richardson outpost of First Watch Cafe for wearing a t-shirt that read “Fuck Trump, and fuck you for voting for him” on the front. Andy Ternay wore the offending t-shirt to brunch at the Richardson cafe on Sunday, and while he was eating, a manager reportedly asked him to leave. According to The Daily Beast, other diners at the restaurant complained that the shirt, which also read “Fuck the racist alt-right” on the back, were “distressed [and noted] that children might see it.” A police officer was reportedly called to the restaurant, but no arrests were made. A server, however, did reportedly “quit his job on the spot” in response to Ternay’s treatment. Ternay shared his experience in a Facebook post, which racked up hundreds of thousands of shares and likes before it was made private or deleted. After the post went viral, people from all over the country began leaving one-star reviews of the restaurant on Yelp, citing the incident with Ternay. In a reply to one of the reviews, a “First Watch customer service” rep named only as Rebecca issued a statement." - Amy McCarthy

My wife and I, together with my sister in law and her fiancé had breakfast here. The place was crowded and we had to wait about 30 minutes to get a table. I guess yesterday was a busy day for them. The atmosphere was ok and the staff were friendly. The service was good and the food was better. They had restrooms inside and they were clean. The location is great and easily accessible.

My first time at First Watch! This place was really a wonderful experience from start to finish. The staff and servers are kind, food is delicious and managers are amazing. I had a great conversation with Cheyanne and look forward to eating here again!

Google
First Watch offers some creative entrées, our food taste was reasonable, the drinks wasn’t the best, it had a sour and bitter taste to it and not a fruity flavor. The prices was reasonable. The staff acknowledged us after we entered the restaurant, our host was awesome, he was very attentive, helpful detailing about the menu and friendly. Our order was prepared quickly and it was hot. The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was great! Great Staff and Great Restaurant!

I like to compare different locations. First Watch food and service is consistent and very good. Unfortunately wait times can be a challenge, luckily I caught multiple locations at just the right times.

Google
This place is so great! The parking lot is huge and easy to get in and out of. Even at busy times I haven't experienced a line or any wait time. The service is one of the best in the whole Northern VA/DC area. And finally the food is just very delicious and well priced!

Yelp
I love First Watch! The food was delicious (parmesan prosciutto toast) and my server, Enzo was absolutely AMAZING!!! Will definitely return!

Yelp
I have had the pleasure of visiting two locations: this one at Bailey's Crossroads + the one in Springfield/Alexandria. This one is by far more superior!!! First Watch offers an all-day breakfast menu, along with a variety of coffee, hot and cold tea, and freshly squeezed juice options. The only drawback is that First Watch does not offer reservations, which is a bit of a disappointment for someone like me who values knowing I have a seat. However, the food more than makes up for it - the freshly squeezed juices, the chef's kiss scrambled eggs, and the huge pancake stacks are all impressive. I ate the Steak + Eggs Hash, a dish both an innovative spin on Steak + Eggs; and tasty. This family-friendly restaurant has an upscale, iHop-like atmosphere, and the complimentary coffee with cream, half and half, and milk options is a lovely touch. While the menu may vary slightly by location, and not all locations offer alcoholic beverages, overall First Watch is a great dining experience.

Yelp
We arrived on a late Sunday morning. It was very crowded and we waited nearly an hour for a table. Once seated, we ordered right away. I ordered French toast w/ a side of chicken sausage and my husband ordered The Traditional. Both meals were really good and the portion sizes were adequate. The tables are kinda close together, so it's easy to hear conversations and be heard. Overall, I would return.

Marianne C.

Yelp
Crowded on a Sunday afternoon. Gave my name and telephone number for the waitlist. Was told 15-20 minutes. Over a half an hour later I asked how where we were in the line. They never texted us. Ordered eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and hashbrowns. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the hashbrowns were good. The biscuit and salmon they had under the eggs were ice cold. The biscuit should have been at least at room temperature or warmed. Not a good combination of warm eggs and cold biscuit/salmon. Also ordered the carrot pecan pancake. Be aware that the pancakes are the size of a plate. It was quite good. The orange juice also seemed fresh squeeze and was good. As is quite typical these days, it's quite loud in the restaurant. It has kind of a cute atmosphere, but I would prefer some noise deadening. It's a very open environment.

Yelp
I had heard a lot about this place so I finally decided to try it. The place was packed late on a Saturday so it was a good thing we put our names on the waitlist. I got coffee and they leave the pot on the table but there was no fresh half and half so had to ask for milk. I go the BLT eggs benedict with potatoes and they were both great. I also tried the pancakes that were good and huge. A very solid place for a breakfast!

Sophie M.

Yelp
First Watch is a solid spot for breakfast or brunch, and the food didn't disappoint. I ordered the breakfast hash with over-easy eggs, and it was delicious. The hash was packed with fresh vegetables, perfectly roasted potatoes, and flavorful seasonings. The eggs were cooked just right, with runny yolks that blended beautifully with the rest of the dish. However, the service left a bit to be desired. Despite the restaurant not being particularly crowded, it took longer than expected for a server to come to our table, and there were noticeable delays between courses. That said, once the staff did check in, they were friendly and attentive. The food was so good that I'd still recommend it, but just be prepared for a leisurely pace if you visit during busier times.

David H.

Yelp
I've always had great experiences here. They're in a large shopping center so there's plenty of parking and the restaurant is large so I've never had much of a wait even on a weekend morning. The pancakes are huge and they're literally the size of the plate so you can order one unless you're ultra hungry. I've tried the blueberry and carrot cake pecan but they all sound tasty. Bacon is hot and fresh too, get the million dollar bacon if you want a unique sweet and spicy flavor. Coffee is fresh and hot here as well and they leave the pot on your table so no waiting for refills. Service is always very friendly and attentive here and you can pay your check online at your table or at the front cashier so there's no waiting to pay if they're busy. I've always enjoyed breakfast here and I'll be back.

Yelp
Update: I came back to this location and the service I experienced was significantly worse than last time. After our order was taken and the food came out, the waiter checked how the food was once and did not come back until 45 minutes later with the check. I had already finished my meal and was waiting for someone to check in on us for 25 minutes. Our waters were empty too. When the server brought the check he did not offer to bring a box even though I was clearly done and disapppeared again. We had to ask another waiter who was not serving our table for the box because our initial waiter just left. Our waiter didn't go over any specials and did not seem to understand English very well. After the service I received here, I will be getting takeout next time. The Double Crunch Tacos were also disappointing. Tacos were dry, there was hardly any black bean spread, avocado fell out. Definitely recommend the has over the seasonal tacos.

Charmaine C.

Yelp
Loved everything on this plate! This place is always busy on the weekend. Good ambiance with a casual cafe vibe. It's our usual stop after our dental appointment next door. Coffee is good and service is great!

Ashley D.

Yelp
A more modern and "healthier" version of an ihop or Dennys. Been here quite a few times and have ordered online. Servers have always been super sweet! They close at 2 which is nice and open at 7! Everything I've tried has been great, but be mindful one pancake is huge lol so you can definitely share one and get your sweet tooth fixed :) inside is clean and cozy with baileys crossroads artwork!

Crystal L.

Yelp
This is a breakfast fast food chain from Florida. It did feel like a higher end diner. The restaurant has a spacious interior and modern decor. Service was great, their menu items are mostly breakfast food. The chicken pesto quinoa bowl was tasty and simple. It was also kids friendly, my two year old enjoyed looking around and coloring her kids menu. $3.99 per person for coffee, they do give you a big pot when you get seated, if I had time I would have sip through the coffee to get the most out of it. Will come back and try out their other items on the menu!

Mike R.

Yelp
Delicious pancakes and French Toast. Exceptional coffee with flavor. A coworker and I often stop in here. While it's a little pricey on our government salaries, sometimes you need a good breakfast. You'll find that here. Am happy to recommend them. Service is always above average. Be here to get a seat, as the weekends are busy. Even with this, solid every visit. Great employees make a huge difference. Their impact is a real facet of this, and also a clean restaurant. By all means stop on by.

Juliana B.

Yelp
LOVE FIRST WATCH! I've been at this location twice, and it has been great each time. Food has always came hot and in a timely manner. Ambiance is good just crowded on the weekends, so prepared to wait some. I recommend putting yourself on the waitlist before you go!

Philip L.

Yelp
It's been a while since I have been to a First Watch and it exceeded my expectations. The inside is clean and beautiful. The service was quick and spot on. However, our server was swamped and he was running around like crazy. Hope he gets some rest. What I liked is that there is a calorie count on the menu. I am on a cut nowadays and it was really helpful for me. The food was mildly flavorful. Nothing too impactful, but it is meant to be breakfast and brunch food so it being not too flavorful is rather a good thing. I thought the price was reasonable. You can pay through a QR code and your phone and it was quick and seamless.

Tonja W.

Yelp
Food was really fresh, full of flavor and well prepared! I will be back when I am back in DC. Jorge our waiter was fantastic!

Tara B.

Yelp
One of our favorite breakfast spots. I love how you can expect the same food every time - we always get the same thing! The food quality is very consistent despite how busy they may be. The service is always quick and efficient while still being pleasant. They have a very good system to get people seated and tables cleared quickly.

Jane L.

Yelp
I loved first watch SOOO much that I tried a different location just for variety's sake. And once again first watch does it again. Giant free parking lot. The staff is super sweet, friendly and helpful. Food comes out pretty quickly. Water glass bottle at the table so you can self refill. Hot coffee is good quality and comes in a good sized refillable thermal stainless steel carafe. Came for brunch. The kids menu has good choices (waffles, pancakes, oatmeal, French toast, grilled cheese, granola bowl). The tropical sunrise drink was very good, not overly sweet and very refreshing. Their pancakes are huge and definitely shareable- if you're feeling nice. Everything at first watch is basically yum. Omelettes, eggs, potatoes, toast. Their cheese grits is very good. Excited to try other options such as the chickichanga soon!

Daisy N.

Yelp
I heard good things and had to check it out. I hadn't had good waffles in forever so that's what I ordered the first time. Very good, though it was already cool by the time it was on my table. Eggs and bacon were also good. The next time I went to another location and got something like chickichanga. Really delicious! Probably not healthy but a nice treat on occasion. Service is very good and the line moves faster than I expected, thankfully, especially if you add yourself to the call ahead list.

Yelp
Ambiance 4/5 The restaurant is very spacious. There's tons of seating with tables and booths and a separate area with a big table. The ambiance is very homely and there's tons of natural light from the windows that surround the restaurant. There's usually a lot of people on the weekends and you can hear the staff from the kitchen so there's a bustling atmosphere. Service 4/5 The service was good. We got seated pretty quickly and our waiter was attentive. The food came out pretty quickly as well. Our water and coffee was refilled when we needed it and when we were finished with our food the finished plates were taken away soon after. Million Dollar Bacon ($5.99) 3/5 Pretty disappointed in this. I've had this before and I really liked it but this time I had this it just tasted like regular bacon with maple syrup on it. I think it would've tasted better if it was crispy but it was pretty soft and floppy. Making it thicker also would've made it better as well. This was fine but it definitely didn't taste as good as I remember. Steak and Egg Hash ($15.99) 3/5 This dish tasted pretty bland. The steak and hash didn't taste very seasoned. The parmesan bread was crispy and was nice to dip in the sauce. I got my eggs poached which mixed with the creamy sauce and added a bit more flavor to the steak and hash. Overall I wouldn't get this again because it was so bland and it was one of the most expensive items on the menu.

Reade S.

Yelp
Not sure how there positive reviews for this place. Our waitress took forever to take our order. It took forever to bring drinks. My mom asked for just a biscuit and bacon with egg and got the biscuits with gravy and ice cold hard eggs. I ordered the traditional breakfast with eggs over easy and the eggs came out hard and cold. The "jam" that came with my toast must've been in the container since the Obama Administration. And the place was empty so not sure why the slow service and cold food.

Lynne S.

Yelp
Always great food and service! Danielle always greets guests with a smile and a friendly demeanor. I usually order the Trifecta - waffle, scrambled eggs, with bacon and coffee! Yum! Easy breezy and all of the servers are great!!

Brando M.

Yelp
Amazing. Amazing and once again amazing !!! New plate, CARNE ASADA HASH is a MUST GET!! Portion size is perfect to fill you up. Tastes like heaven. Would definitely get again. Service is always on top of everyone !! Place is great to bring the family to eat. Call ahead of time to make a reservation !!

Juer Y.

Yelp
Go there every few weeks. Love love love the chicken sausage and the coconut chia seed bowl

Nicole A.

Yelp
This was my second time here at this location. My first experience was outstanding. Customer service, food quality/temperature were all great. My second time as I was eating I noticed a long hair that had been cooked onto the sausage link. The waitress was very apologetic and said she'd have the manager come over. Also removed my meal from the bill. I waited for and the manager never came to our table. My sister made eye contact with him and he ignored herShe waved him over- nothing. She started to get up and approach him and only then did he come to the table. His attitude was rude and unapologetic. Hair in food repeatedly is not is it "just something that can happen", as you were trying to explain it to us.

Fiorella H.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for early breakfasts at First Watch! I usually go to the one in Rockville Townsquare, making this day my first time trying this location. I secured my table online waitlist because we wanted to make sure we can be seated on a rainy early morning, we arrived there and got seated pretty quickly. The waiter we had was a very kind kid, who always checked on us and was helpful on getting my order right! I got their Smoked and Veggie Frittata, although requested to be made with egg whites instead of the regular whole egg way. It was very yummy and light! I wish I had more bread though hahah. My husband got their "Works Omelette" he said it was packed with the meats and enjoyed the pieces of toast with butter and jelly. To be honest, my favorite part of having Breakfast at First Watch is just some good healthy food and having my mug being refilled with hot drip coffee without the trouble of making it myself after a long week! The place was big and I'm glad people are a lot quieter in the mornings, compared to when you arrive a brunch time! (If you want a relaxing time, I would say arrive around 7AM to 9AM, it really gets busy by 10:30AM).

Shalita W.

Yelp
First Watch has me hooked on their "Floridian French Toast"....Their French Toast it's sooo delicious, especially topped with their warm syrup that's served & paired with a mimosa on the side ;). Definitely try!!

Tonia A.

Yelp
About a month ago I had a hair in one of my pancakes. When I mentioned it to my waiter, the lady at the table next to mine said there was a hair in her daughter's eggs. We both complained to the manager who was very apologetic. He even gave me two $25 gift cards. I decided to give them another try on December 6, 2024. Well, my sister had a long hair on her sausage. This time the manager didn't bother to come to the table until I got his attention and asked him to come to the table. He said he removed my sister's meal from the check. I reminded him that this happened before and I asked what is going on, does the kitchen staff wear hair nets? He said very nonchalantly and flippantly that "hair in the food happens sometimes". I told him it's becoming more of a habit now. He just looked at me. Needless to say I definitely will not be visiting this place again. I regret going back.

Gabriella C.

Yelp
I absolutely enjoyed our server she was so kind and very thorough in the explaining the menu, everything was freshly made to order.

Joy L.

Yelp
So nice place and service, I like the food very much. I also purchased the book tey to made food at home. But not taste like store.

Illiana V.

Yelp
The food is always great. I highly recommend the Elevated Egg Sandwich (sub the bacon for million dollar bacon) and the Biscuits and Turkey Sausage Gravy with Eggs. It's so much food but so delicious. The ambiance is nice but there's always so many people so I recommend going online and joining the waitlist.

Tiah T.

Yelp
The food was great! I can't say one bad thing. Everything is very flavorful. I can tell that it was fresh and I was glad that they had an allergen menu ready for use and that there was still a lot to try and everything tried was amazing! Their toast was the best I ever tried. I've never had yellow grits before and that was pretty good also. The waffles that they serve were honestly the best I've ever had. The service was also really good, our waiter was really nice and attentive.

Richard L.

Yelp
Went to First Watch for brunch on a weekend. First things first go to their website to check-in otherwise when you arrive it'll be a longggggg wait. Even with checking in online, it was probably still a 45 min wait from when we arrived til when we were seated. The logistics of managing the check-in and seating could definitely be better. The same woman who was managing the seating system was also the person seating people which just left a big group of people waiting by the door while there were empty tables. The food itself was pretty good. The lemon ricotta pancakes were light and soft, the side of bacon was crispy. The breakfast tacos were pretty good too, but it was clearly just a larger tortilla folded to make a taco. No complaints as you could unfold it and make a mini burrito. Would probably come back again but maybe not during the weekdays as to avoid the logistical nightmare.

Kathy C.

Yelp
I love First Watch, but I will never return to this location again. The potatoes were overly salty, and the service was incredibly disappointing. One of the staff members rudely grabbed an extra chair from our table without asking. When we brought this up to the cashier, instead of addressing the concern politely, she was dismissive and rude, saying, "We always do that." All we were asking was for some basic courtesy--just ask before taking something from a guest's table. It's a shame because I usually have great experiences at First Watch, but this location missed the mark entirely.

Nancy G.

Yelp
Always good food and service great as well. Enjoyed a delicious breakfast and coffee is the best.

Heidi C.

Yelp
This is our favorite place for breakfast/brunch. Consistent great food and service. Touissi is a wonderful server and goes above and beyond.

Austin G.

Yelp
Located in a strip mall, First Watch, a chain, is an unexpected place to grab fresh juice and breakfast. Meeting a friend who lives nearby for an early lunch, the diverse menu convinced me to order breakfast. For $8.69, I ordered two large chocolate chip pancakes. I also ordered a side of bacon and wow, I'm so glad I did. Four strips of bacon comes out with some herbs and maple or honey (something sweet). To drink, I got the "Morning Meditation," a fresh juice with orange, lemon, turmeric, ginger, agave, and beet. Stir it to make sure all the flavors pop. Service was impeccable and the space large. There's a parking lot out front.

Amber K.

Yelp
I've been a fan of First Watch for years. Great place to have breakfast, sometimes there can be a wait. Lots of options for the whole family and a couple vegan options.

Tarsha S.

Yelp
First watch is definitely my First stop in the morning. I love first Watch but I haven't had it in a long time and I haven't been to this location. Wonderful staff!! I had an amazing waiter (wish I got her name.) The Wait time is minimal. The menu is always creative, healthy & yummy. Wooowwzers ;-) I never knew they had alcoholic drinks (breakfast style ;-) soooo Good. You can't go wrong with this spot. Thank me later.

Ashlee A.

Yelp
First Watch has always been a great choice or breakfast and brunch. Sunday morning visit and thankfully there was not a wait at all. Adequate parking and tables inside. My favorite are the biscuits and gravy because it's turkey! Hearty meal and quite savory, even with ordering just one biscuit which was around $5 so great price. We were able to be in and our waiter was prompt.

Meiske S.

Yelp
Very good service and food. Our server is excellent! Didn't bother us once in while just stop by ask we need anything. Thank you

Mark B.

Yelp
Solid place. Good price good food. On a scale of would I go back yeah. Solid breakers joint

Christina L.

Yelp
I had the BLT Eggs Benedict. My husband at the Farmhouse Hash. He also got a pancake, and we got the Holey Donuts. The food was amazing! The service was lacking. We came in on a busy Saturday, and once we ordered, we didn't see our server again. No refills. No syrup for the pancake. It took forever to get the check. We would still come back though.

Neda S.

Yelp
Love! Love First watch!!! We called so the wait wasn't long. Very friendly staff!! I've tried most locations and management does a great job pick their team. I loved our waitress! She paid attention to the smallest details and it amazed me. The food of course was amazing!! My coffee very delicious!! The food came out at perfect time bc I question places if my food comes out fast lol. Everything tasted fresh! This is also kid friendly for families.

Joelle M.

Yelp
Went in Saturday for my birthday and to enjoy some brunch with my husband. I tried the brisket hash, million dollar bacon with coffee and my husband had biscuits, Turkey gravy, home fries and scrambled eggs and coffee. Coffee was smooth and hot with pumpkin spice creamer or French vanilla. My food was delicious: sweet potatoes, peppers, chuck potatoes with scrambled eggs and a Parmesan cheese sauce. I will definitely be back.

Vivi L.

Yelp
They brought my friends food but my food took forever then it was wrong by the time I ate my friends had eaten already. No one came to our table. The place was mostly empty more than 15 tables open. They wouldn't let us sit at a booth. Even though there were several open and they remained opened the whole hour we were there. I don't know what is wrong but this place needs better customer service.

Keani S.

Yelp
Food always comes out hot and ready. Great menu with lots to choose from. Everything on the menu seems to come from quality ingredients and comes in decent portions. Service is good and even with take out/delivery I almost never have any issues. I always get the morning meditation juice to start the morning and either chikichanga or the farmhouse hash for breakfast. Those are the favorites but everything else on the menu is just as good.

Melanie C.

Yelp
We love coming to first watch! It's so close to home and service is always great. Our server Oscar was so nice and made sure our food came out good! Food was amazing.

Yuchen Z.

Yelp
Be warned - there will be a wait. Get on the waitlist as soon as you can. Hangout in the doors nearby if you need to. Breakfast was on point. We got the pancake and crab benny to share with 2 people. Both dishes were really yummy. The Pancake was huge - about the size of an entire plate so definitely share worthy. Service was good. Food flavors were good. Modern hip atmosphere. Just beware of the wait.
