We’re regulars at Fish Sauce and for good reason!! The food is fantastic. Everyone is so nice and helpful and the happy hour is an amazing deal! The patio is the perfect spot in the summer. Our favorites are the Vermicelli noodle dish and the wings in the summer and you can’t go wrong with Pho in the winter. Highly recommend!!!

We love Fish Sauce!!! This place has become a near staple for our household. The food is incredible, served up fresh and quick, and the staff is great. Our favorite dishes and go-tos are the Bún-vermicelli noodles with grilled pork, salad rolls with shrimp, and signature fish sauce wings! Amazing every time. The happy hour is also a great deal. Must try! Our only wish is for them to also be open on Sundays!!

We came into First Sauce on one of the hottest Saturday nights of the summer and had DELICIOUS food with great service. There was one very friendly woman working behind the counter and even though it was counter service she was still running drinks , food and running the register for the whole restaurant. I think their AC must have been temporarily nonfunctional bc it was almost as hot and sweaty as Thailand inside the restaurant, which is my only complaint. But the food was so delicious we hardly noticed, really. They had a big “WE’RE HIRING” sign on their door so someone please come help this woman out!!

Really yummy vietnamese food. I loved the grilled pork and chicken bahn mi sandwiches I ordered. The bread was so warm and soft! Comes with a salad of fresh vegetables and mango. Visit during happy hour and get 2.00 off each menu item.

Best short ribs I’ve had in town hands down. The lettuce wraps were also so delicious. Really amazing food here. I will most definitely be back.

I tried the fried rice with chicken. Atmosphere: I have always kind of liked the rustic atmosphere inside of Fish Sauce. However, there is a very long 30 foot table that takes up most of the space in the restaurant. Its a communal table meant to be shared. The table was insanely sticky. maybe because it was a hot day today. Either way it was pretty gross to have the entire huge table feel like it had not been cleaned in months. (suggest that they sand it and change the finish on the wood). Food: ugh. The fried rice was bland. Nothing to write home about or try again. There were sausages in the rice that were really bad. Tasted like they took pre-prepped sausages from a can and thew a few in. Also the chicken... how to describe it... they were little tiny chicken balls that I think were boiled. Thats it. Pretty bland and not a good additive to the fish rice. They also looked like a catfood I used to get for my cat. I'd stay away from this place. Try Andina's instead. It's just over the bridge and they care about the quality of food. .

Besides being closed on Mondays and Tuesdays this place is a hidden Gem of Northwest Portland perfect for both Summer and winter with real Vietnamese cooking. I highly recommend the Bún and the shrimp lettuce wraps. The atmosphere is quiet, and upscale with great customer service. 💯 wouldn't miss this 💎

Google
Every single thing we had was amazing! We had the steamed shrimp dumplings, wings, crispy rolls, a banh mi with kimchi and short ribs, chicken curry, and the house roasted peanuts. We also all had the temple of the sun cocktail. Everything was absolutely delicious. Staff was incredibly kind and attentive. Would certainly return.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic cuisine! Walked in on a Friday evening, not too busy appeared to be preparing MANY take out orders. Smaller and tidy on the inside, but plenty of seating. There is outside seating as well. Everything we had was outstanding!! Really friendly, chef even came out to chat. Food portions were great, with vegetarian options. I can't wait to go back, give it a try you'll be glad you did!!!!

Yelp
Came for a date night on a fine Thursday afternoon @4PM. We were the only ones there so the food came out within 10 minutes of ordering. The set up is order at the counter then choose your table. Justin Timbalake was bringing sexy back so the vibes were absoloutely popping, chest popping, specifically(.) The goi coun was fresh and that's all I can really ask for BUT wait there is more!!!! The glazed fish sauce wings were good. I honestly enjoyed them more as left overs because the breading softened up a bit. The breading was a lil too crunchy once it was freshly cooked and I think that if the wings were larger, the crunchiness would on point, but not for the mini wings. My patna got the pho ga and she loved it because the chicken was tender and cut into good bite sized pieces. This place also gains more browny points for her bc they use beef broth for the chicken pho. The temple of the sun cocktails were sturdy so s/o to our waitress, she was mad polite. Could be homies type vibe. Will be back

Yelp
Great service and food was delicious. The service is top notch as they made recommendations of the most popular dishes and constantly check on us during our time there. The ambiance has a nice rustic feel to it with cool mason jar

Yelp
We were in the NW Portland area and the wife said "hey there's a restaurant called Fish Sauce". Being from Vietnam I was intrigued so we ordered two lemongrass Bahn Mi sandwiches and BANG!! Simply amazing then finished off dinner with Mango Coconut Sticky Rice. This is one of my favorite desserts and this one didn't disappoint. If you eat here don't forget the Mango Sticky Rice. Thank you "Fish Sauce"

Yelp
So I live near by and I haven't tried this place in years. I decided to try it last night and it was absolutely DELICIOUS. We got a vermicelli bowl and spring rolls and it's probably the best vermicelli bowl in the area. The flavors were really good and the shrimp and lemongrass pork were very seasoned perfectly... the pork was very tender which is hard to find in a dish like this. My only critique would be the peanut butter sauce needs a tad more peanut butter flavor. It was a take out order, but they were really great with service and the order was ready in 15 minutes. There weren't a ton of people inside but I hope that changes!! Definitely going back!! 5 stars across the board and would HIGHLY recommend if you are looking for good Vietnamese comfort food! Everyone, support this place! The food is very veryyyy good.

Yelp
Best food I've had in months. This sweet place needs our community's support. Because of the houseless situation in the neighborhood, they have lost a lot of business. This was the first time that I tried them, and I was blown away. I had the honor of connecting with Chef Lauren, whose charm and thoughtfulness for the humans that are sadly negatively impacting her business, brought tears to my eyes. She explained that she tries to be of service to the houseless community as much as possible. A beautiful heart, that shows through, in the brilliant way flavors dance in your mouth. They do sit-in or take out. Do miss out on delectable food and being able to support a small business in our neighborhood.

Yelp
Delicious dinner of Bahn Mi and fries. The sauces were excellent! Reasonable pricing and solid portions. A few long communal tables inside and lots of patio seating also, which was covered. Gorgeous plants and murals. Good selection of drinks both alcohol and non alcohol. The front door was not working correctly when we were there, so folks kept getting locked out... other patrons would get up to let people in due to the jammed door. There were a lot of delivery drivers coming in and out of an alternate door toward the counter.

Yelp
Great casual place for pho with kids. Was visiting Portland from Seattle and was looking for a place to eat on Saturday night. Most restaurants were fully booked. Thankfully fish sauce was able to accommodate our group of 7 immediately. We order the filet mignon pho, vegetarian pho, tofu fried rice, and kalbi. Everything was flavorful and came out quickly. The owner/chef greeted us after our meal to see if everything was good and that was a nice touch!

Kristin M.

Yelp
Such a cute place! The food was amazing. We had salad rolls, bahn mi sandwiches and mango sticky rice. The service was great, they were all so friendly.

Yelp
Happy hour 3-5 PM, $2 off any item on the menu and pints $4! Come and get it! My wife and I enjoyed the salad rolls with tofu wrapped in rice paper with vermicelli noodles, lettuce, mint, and bean sprouts. Served with house made peanut sauce. Also, we liked the grilled pork rolls wrapped in rice paper with lettuce, cucumbers, mint, and pickled carrots. Served with house made & fermented fish sauce. Open and covered patio on a quiet street in the Alphabet District. Good eats, good service!

Yelp
We've walked by this restaurant several times, and finally went inside and ordered on a Friday. The pork/shrimp rolls were heavier than I expected but very tasty. Luckily, the husband and I split a chicken vermicelli noodle bowl. It was huge. As we kept digging to the bottom, we kept finding big juicy pieces of chicken! Well done Fish Sauce! The service was efficient but non engaging. That's ok... because everyone needed was in our bowls! We at outside in the picnic table area. It needed a little love but I rate places mostly based on their food. And the food we enjoyed was good. So looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
There's not a lot of restaurants that makes everything from scratch because it's time consuming and sometimes more costly. Aesthetic, delicious, and wonderful service. Always worth the drive to stop by and visit Fish Sauce for some great Vietnamese food. Every item at Fish Sauce is freshly made from scratch! Make sure to put this on your places to try if you haven't visited it already!
google avatar

Yelp
Easy parking along the street and heated lamps for the outdoor (indoor) seating. Four of us (2 hefty men and 2 dainty girls) got the chicken wings and mango sticky rice! The wings were absolutely flavorful and crispy! A must have no question about it. The mango sticky rice was sweet and we left very satisfied but not guilty. If you are looking to come here to try the wings and grab more food somewhere else, this was the perfect amount for us.

Yelp
Hands down best Vietnamese restaurant in PDX I've been coming here for 7+ years! Literally everything on the menu is delicious!
google avatar

Mindy K.

Yelp
$5 Thai iced tea is a premade mix of Kirkland brand Thai iced tea. (They just poured it out of the jug) There's only one type of pho broth, which was beef broth, even if you order vegetarian toppings. The broth tasted premade/store bought as well. I'm not sure how this places pho is ranked so highly.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in Portland. I can't get enough. I've been several times. Definitely get the chicken wings. But you can't go wrong. We usually get all of the small plates and share with friends. Family atmosphere. Love this spot.

Yelp
Today we ordered two items we have not had! The Banh canh with shrimp and pork was ! The best Vietnamese Soup I have to say for Portland!!! The last time I ate this soup was back home made by my friend! The noodles made fresh and taste oh sooo good. Better believe that I slurped all the broth! I shared a small bowl with my husband and we were suppose to share this... oops... I ate all of it and he looked over at me with a disappointed face like.. you ate it all . The Kalbi Banh Mi according to my husband was one of the best Banh Mi he had yet to date in Portland! And their house chili spicy sauce.... sooo goood!!! That lemongrass addition is my favorite. If ya like to spice up your dish... ask for this on the side! Definitely had my cheeks sweating and feeling hot! Was so soo good though! These two item has made it to our top order! I have always love the decor of this spot. Great for couple dates or small groups. Try it out and let me know what ya think.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this gem in Portland one Friday night while waiting for our movie at McMenamins Mission Theater across the road. We were lucky to catch their late night happy hour for some bites before our movie. We opted to sit outside on the wooden picnic tables as it was a nice clear night. We ordered the following: crispy spring rolls, kalbi and chicken lettuce wraps. All three were delicious and well made -- the meats were flavorful and tender plus the corresponding pickled sides were great accompaniments to each dish. Service was friendly and prompt and price points were pretty good for happy hour. So glad we tried this out and we actually recommended our friends who live in Portland to try this place out too.

Yelp
Yummy food, but not amazing. The wings would be great if they used real chicken. Great crunch & flavor on the outside, but no juicy tender chicken inside. Instead it is rubbery and has a compressed quality. Like...reconstructed chicken. Ew. However: Best peanut sauce in portland!

Yelp
I love this hidden gem and am quite glad to see they are still going strong. Their food is a delightful mix of classic Vietnamese dishes with a contemporary flair. My favorite dish are the fish sauce chicken wings. This is honestly the sort of dish you will find yourself craving if it's been too long since your last visit. Another go to is Botta's favorite which offers a nice variety of food in one hearty plate. Also the kefir lime peanuts are an excellent takeaway snack (they come in a little plastic container). They are quite spicy, but it hurts so good. Things to know: 1) They are no longer full service sit down. You order your food at the counter and wait for it to be brought out. 2) The limited indoor seating is even more limited. 3) There are several nice outdoor picnic tables with umbrellas to add to the seating.

Yelp
Was in visiting Portland and walked by this spot a few times. I finally tried it on my last night and I'm so glad I did. One of the best Phos I've had. I really wish this was in LA. We just tried the Goi Cuon and Pho -- both were delicious! Also got the house roasted peanuts with lime leaf and chillies to go -- perfect snack with complex flavors. I really can't wait to go back to try more dishes here.

Yelp
Good portions for the higher price. Food is good (I've tried the pho and bahn mi so far). Service was good. Communal seating as the only option is not good. The vibe/decor is the epitome of the "hip new microbrewery taproom starterpack" meme which is quite weird given it's supposed to be a Vietnamese restaurant.

Yelp
This is a super cute place. We came here for happy hour on a Friday and were the first ones in the restaurant so we had very fast service. We split a few things off the happy hour menu, which is pretty nicely priced. (See photos for names)Everything was excellent. The beef in the pho was very tender. The lettuce wraps were very flavorful though the accompanying peanut sauce was slightly different - thinner and slightly vinegary. They brought a house made spicy sauce with one of the dishes and it was good. The bread on the bahn mi was fresh. The five dishes were the perfect amount for two hungry people. I'd also highly recommend their housemade ginger soda if you're a fan of ginger ales. Their bar also had a great a great selection of drinks. A great spot for slightly fancier Vietnamese food to rival Luc Lac.

Andrea B.

Yelp
The food was excellent. However, the service was incredibly slow and the whiney waitress kept mumbling how understaffed they were. The paunchy, disheveled woman taking orders at the counter messed up our order and ran our card with the error and then had to rerun it all the while mumbling under her breath like we were the ones that made an error. This. Individual does not have a cleanly, polished public-facing appearance appropriate for this job at a nice restaurant-she's more of a McDonalds drive -through caliber. We will not return until there are different employees working at this restaurant.
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
I was craving a good bahn mi and this place did not disappoint! Also got the grilled pork rolls which were super tasty and came with a delicious sweet sauce. Portion sizes are generous, ingredients are fresh, and meat is perfectly cooked. The whole menu looks great, can't wait to come back and try more items.

Yelp
I was happy to have found this restaurant organically, by walking around the neighborhood of the Airbnb that I was staying in. My friends and I sampled a few dishes here and despite it not being the best Vietnamese food that we've ever had, it was still pretty good-- for Portland. The interior is small and has communal seatings so if it's a warm and nice day, sit outside and enjoy the extra space and fresh air. Order many of the apps and street food items and family style it so that you can sample a little bit of everything.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese food the kind your momma or someone's auntie cooks this is not the place for you. If you're looking for a trendy hip Vietnamese 'inspired' place to go for drinks and chat with nice decor this is perfect. I wanted to love this place but the ratio of cost and having a full stomach just did not mix well. PROS: -This place is newer and has outdoor seating with nice umbrellas, the cocktail options here are good. -They have great happy hour options! -Has a nice selection of traditional food, fusion and also bilingual menus printed in Viet as well. -Staff is extremely nice and attentive! -Grilled corn on the cob was perfectly balanced! Nice mix of scallion butter and green onions. My god it was smoky and amazing! -Spring rolls were good, they have different variations. -Bo luc lac was good CONS: -Portions are small -Service can be extremely slow (we waited 45 min for our food. They didn't serve them as they finished but waited until all items were done.) -With the menu items in mind there is one factor that is missing to bind ones tastebuds when eating here, and that is RICE! Everything here packs a wallop in flavor and when you have ordered about 5 dishes with so much flavor all you taste is SALT! I had to down 4 glasses of water. I feel rice should've been complimentary at least for the simmered pork belly w/egg. That was the saltiest of all. -Chicken wings were too salty and were a fusion of buffalo sauce wings with added fish sauce. Lackluster in comparison to its regular spicy and sweet Vietnamese chicken wings. Like where the fried garlic and Thai chilies? -$6+ for a fresh coconut. I can buy this at the grocery store for $2 this is huge NO. I get that you need to charge for labor but that's insane. -Simmered pork belly and eggs had a lot of fat in it. Skimming of the fat needs to be done, aromatics were not there. Flavor profile was just fish sauce, fish sauce and more salt. It really fell flat for me, and this was the one I looked forward to the most. Overall I can see where they were going with this but to call it Vietnamese isn't right. A lot of key aroma and condiments are missing especially if you are trying to pull from Vietnamese cooking. For those who have not had real Vietnamese food this may suffice.

Yelp
I must counter bad experience with a meaningful, unforgettable, perfect one. Enter Fish Sauce---- a warm, lovely late happy hour dinner experienced here. So good was the food and so surprised was I, being in NW Pdx, at the authenticity of the flavor and quality of the ingredients used I actually chatted with the owner for a good :45 after closing. It's delightfully romantic with warm lighting and great decor ( her older son designed all of the light fixtures). Crowded and difficult to navigate it may be inside, as the long communal table does take up the bulk of the dining room. Small space, with large exterior, well done patio. Too cold that evening. My food came, one after another dish, and in amazement was I. I kept eating and marveling at how perfectly cooked everything was, and how well prepped the marinades were. Though passing through on a short vacation, this was perhaps my most fave meal of that jaunt. "Aunty" shared with me her boat person story, leaving Vietnam and the harrowing risks and daunting task of creating a life in a new land. Opportunity knocked and born was her venture in the space that used to be Cupcake Jones! That, folks, is a true tale about true grit, the kind upon which American dreams are created, to be sure. And nephew, though I loath myself in forgetting your names, I wish you the best of luck in business when you return to Encino! Highly reco those gorgeous wings, and the grilled Korean ( yep) beef skewers.

Yelp
These wings rival Pok Pok. I've gotten their Pho and now am hooked on their Vermicilli Bowls. So freaking good its making my mouth water thinking about them. Ask for extra spice if you like it as most of their stuff comes well-seasoned but not 'spicy by default'. I am not a fan of pickled veggies but I absolutely love their freshly pickled carrots aside some spicy noods. So refreshing! They also have a nice covered/lighted patio area set up outside!
google avatar

Charlie T.

Yelp
This place has been around for a Lil over 3 years now (I think). The food has always been consistent and the quality is superb. I have never had a bad experience when dining here. The people here are extremely friendly and helpful. Today, my friend and I snacked on a few items...we had the chicken wings, bo luc lac, and a special requested item that wasn't on the menu - bo tai chanh (rare beef cooked with lime juice...almost like a Vietnamese version of a beef carpaccio). The flavors and taste of the food were great. We washed the fo I don't down with a fresh drink called the New York Sour.
google avatar

Sarra Y.

Yelp
Great service. Great about fixing a mistake postmates made. Next time I'll call in my order for pickup.
google avatar

Sovy C.

Yelp
The interior is nice, warm and welcoming. Loud music plays in the background. Drinks were great, definitely found a favorite. We had the sugar cane shrimp rolls, beef pho, and lemon grass ckn vermicelli bowl. Beef pho was good, but spendy, $14. For meatballs and sliced filet mignon. The sugar cane shrimp wasn't what I expected, the sugar cane had a shrimp and crab paste surrounding it. Not a fan. But it came with a pig plate of greens to eat as lettuce wraps. Then the lemongrass chicken bowl was ok. The chicken was pounded out, so it was very thin and over cooked, which I don't prefer. Otherwise the chicken had good flavor, and the bowl had lots of fresh veggies.

Yelp
We have visited Fish sauce a number of times ,and the food has been good on most of our visits . It's a small and quiet place and I have never seen it overtly crowded which is great for a quiet meal and faster service. What I have till date includes the Heo Cuon, Cha gio, Bo Bia, lettuce wraps, pho , banh Mi and the fish sauce wings . The wings were pretty noteworthy as far as I remember. Their happy hour drinks are good too, in case you are there around that time , the service is fast and they even have an outdoor patio for the days ,Portland does have a nice weather. Over all I would say it's a nice Vietnamese restaurant to visit if you are in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Naomi G.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting this place, and I had a mediocre experience. My friend and I decided to try this place because she had heard good things, so we decided to try out their happy hour today. I don't remember exact names of what I ordered, but I got salad cups with tofu and mushrooms, and mussels My friend ordered tofu salad rolls, mussels, and salad cups. Here is where is went south really fast... My friend was given her salad rolls and started eating them. A few minutes in to eating, she stopped and said gasped. She thought the texture in her rolls tasted weird, but didn't know why. Then she picked the roll apart, and it was chicken. She hasn't been able to eat chicken in over 4years, and this was a pretty big mistake on their part. She is pregnant, and knows that chicken makes her pretty sick... We called over the waiter and told him that they gave her chicken instead of tofu, and the guy didn't at all seem apologetic (which is strike 1). (Strike 2) was when he took the plate and walked over to the girl who served it too her and started giving her a talk right in the middle of the place, in front of everyone. (Strike 3) they didn't directly apologize to my friend, and still charged her for the rolls... Even though they made a huge mistake. The food wasn't expensive, but it was more about their customer service and how they handle mistakes. The experience was underwhelming for how highly people spoke about this place. The vibe in the place is relaxed, but upscale. Just make sure if you have any food restrictions that you double and triple check what they give you.
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
The best Vietnamese food we have had in Portland! The cocktails are pretty good too! Flavorful, veggie friendly and made with a lot of love!
google avatar

Alex H.

Yelp
I had the tofu banh mi and the sweet potato wedges. They were amazing. Probably the best sweet potato from a restaurant. I wish they gave a larger sweet potato portion. The restaurant appeared clean and the employees was nice. The food took unusually long, even for a Pandemic consideration.
google avatar

TVAT T.

Yelp
Overpriced and minimum menu since the pandemic. Delicious food but doesn't need the inflated price, especially when it's operated by a family.
google avatar

Susanna G.

Yelp
Really good food but like so many places they get popular and then they slack off! Extremely overpriced the noodles I like water and they should be the easiest things to get right I still will go to this place hoping it will get better because it used to be great
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
I went to Fish Sauce twice over the last few days as I attended a training in the neighborhood. Loved the food and ambiance - the tofu lettuce wraps were incredible. The problem - the service is very unsatisfactory. Both times I went - once with a large group and again with one other person - it was as if they really didn't want our business. With the large group of 15 of us, we got a very chilly reception and repeatedly told that there is a card limit of 2 - a problem since we were all individual students, not a family or group of close friends. About 1/3 of the guests actually left. The second visit was even more problematic. Originally I hoped for take out but was not able to get the happy hour menu. There was only about forty minutes before class started, but I decided to stay and eat because, well, those lettuce wraps. My friend got a drink and I had about half my food left when we needed to get back and THEY REFUSED A TO GO BOX. It was actually preferable to the staff to simply throw out and waste perfectly good (and paid for) food and to annoy a customer so much that I'm actually leaving a poor review (a first for me). It was very poorly done and I can't say that I'll be going back and want to provide honest feedback. I hope the management reviews their policy and makes people feel welcome and valued.

Yelp
This is now my fave go-to-Phõ-soup-place. It is more expensive ($13) but it is also fresh, incredibly tasty, huuuuuuge and definitely lasts for 2 lunches (maybe 3? I am trying to lose weight). I have walked by this place so often at night while letting my dog out, and I see the cooks preparing the broth for the next day. Today I sat outside in the gorgeous, perfect temperature and at the perfectly shaded outdoor table and enjoyed their ... (tadaa) hoUsemade GINGER beer!!! Then came the soup: so perfectly flavored fresh broth, tons of lovely fresh vegetables (baby bokchoy, carrots, cauliflower, green onions) which you combineas you see fit with cilantro, thai basil, taugé, lime, green chili pepper, and the sweet or hot sauces, or both. The noodles have a delicious flavor and are not overcooked. The tofu has been pre-fried and is added fatly sliced, so you can really chomp into it, and boy, is it filling. Parking is usually a breeze on this side road to NW 18th. So go and see for yourself!
google avatar

Linda H.

Yelp
The restaurant itself is cute - kind of reminds me of Luc Lac. My friend I went with likes Fish Sauce better. We arrived during happy hour and ordered the hh spring rolls (goi cuon), hh chicken wings, hh pho and the banh chuoi nuong for dessert. The spring roll and peanut sauce were good but pretty pricey in my opinion (it was one spring roll cut in half for $3). The chickens wings were pretty bland compared to the infamous Pok Pok wings. The pho bowl was small in comparison to other restaurants I've been to with the same pricing - though the noodles were a little over cooked, it did fill me up.

Yelp
Love love love this place!! Lauren is an absolute gem of a human being. One of the most accommodating cozy and quaint restaurants around. The food is absolute culinary magic! Would give 100 stars if I could!!
google avatar

Seiji N.

Yelp
A solid Vietnamese establishment located in the heart of the city. I love the vibe and decor here, and the service is always great. The food is good, but not amazing. You can definitely get better Vietnamese food elsewhere, but it's above par. One of the dishes I recently had from them was their fish sauce wings, which are a good deal during happy hour! Although they aren't amazing and occasionally come out too salty, they have really good texture and are very crispy. The banh mi here was pretty good, but the price point is a little hard to justify. $9 for a banh mi that is barely better than best baguette is kinda rough for me, especially knowing that Cuon in downtown has a banh mi that is better for a similar price.

Yelp
Food is ok, not great. Service is not good. Been here twice now, once with my whole department and once with a party of five. The service was pretty bad with the department, but it was worse with a smaller party. We got our food before we got two drinks that we had ordered. My wife had to eat alone because the rest of us were fed 20 minutes before she was. Menu is not cheap, too bad the service is. Will not return.

Yelp
We hosted our rehearsal dinner/birthday dinner here for ~25 people. The staff at Fish Sauce was great. We didn't buy out the restaurant, but they ended up giving us the whole interior space anyway. (There are also outdoor picnic tables that are perfect on summer days). As part of our wedding celebration, we wanted to incorporate my Vietnamese culture, so we found this restaurant to host our rehearsal dinner. They have all the elements of a classic Vietnamese restaurant, but with a PNW-fusion flare to it. Egg rolls and spring rolls are true to form with all the right dipping sauces. Our guests enjoyed the shaking beef that the table really enjoyed. I ordered Hainan Chicken and while the chicken was tender and delicious, but I would have like it served with skin on (the authentic way!). They also have a full cocktail bar and their drinks were delicious! Some great tropical cocktails including lychee and passionfruit that were amazing. At the end of the night, the owner/chef came out to thank us. She was the sweetest Vietnamese woman and you can tell she's really proud of her restaurant. She spent some time talking to my parents and was just downright excited to have us dine at her restaurant. Great place, great people.

Yelp
This food is amazing...the staff is always friendly, environment is clean and the cooks are hard at work, preparing authentic, flavorful food that continues to wow me every time. The traditional Pho is a true contender. The broth is savory, with many layers of flavor being created over time. Doesn't need much else, but a lil sriracha for kick. Another fave is the Bun, vermicelli noodles with vegetables, prawns, a crispy roll and lemongrass marinated pork or chicken. Try it...it'll change your life. If you're a Bahn Mi type of person, go for the Kalbi and sweet potato fries. The sandwich is perfectly balanced with fresh, crisp vegetable, pickled daikon and marinated short ribs, on a french baguette! Again, life changer of a sandwich. The menu is diverse and comparable in price to its local competitors. This is a brick and mortar place, with a full bar and craft cocktails. Give yourself a treat and visit Fish Sauce...Soon!

Yelp
Just got into Portland and I started to feel like I was coming down with a cold. Fish Sauce is a short walk from the hostel I'm staying at and I was craving some pho. Most of the time I get pho, it's pretty standard and hits the spot. But this, oh man.. this pho was beautiful. I'm usually done once the noodles and meat are gone but this broth is so flavorful and packed with beefy gorgeousness that I finished it in its entirety. I enjoy my broth without adding hoisin or sriracha and it was such a treat finishing this. The broth is so clean and invigorating, I just kept going. And the idea to use filet mignon instead of standard round? Divine.

Yelp
Came here for a lunch because my boyfriend lives nearby and he'd been wanting to try it. It's a small, unassuming spot, so I wasn't expecting to be so blown away by our food, but that's exactly what happened. I had never heard of thit kho before, but the description on the menu sounded good, so I decided to give it a try. It changed my life. I don't live in Portland but I wish I did so I could eat this all the time. I can't understate how delicious this one particular dish was. Rich, salty, umami, just a touch of sweetness, and of course a little fish sauce made the broth amazing, and the tender fall-apart pork belly and marinated egg took it over the top. Perfect to eat with some rice or by itself, and the bright pickled veggies that came with the dish were a perfect complement to its warm, rich flavors. I also got their house-made ginger beer (absolutely delicious and another great complement to the dish) and their fresh roasted peanuts with lime leaf and chilies (incredibly flavorful but a bit too spicy for me to enjoy). My boyfriend got the bun with grilled pork and a thai iced tea, and both were fantastic. Wish I lived here so I could go all the time. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Awesome awesome food! Drove down to Portland from Seattle and been wanting to try this place for the longest time! Started out with the happy hour banh tet, egg rolls, chicken wings. All were amazing but the chicken wings were out of this world. The fish sauce definitely shined in the dish. Dinner we got the curry and pho which both were amazing as well. Service was very nice and attentive and we even got to meet the chef who was a very nice and humble lady. Definitely must go for authentic Vietnamese food!
