Where to Eat Doughnuts in Nashville

"Franklin-based Five Daughters Bakery opened its standalone counter-service store in 12 South a few years back and since then crowds have gone absolutely wild for a taste of its famous 100-layer doughnuts — a croissant hybrid in flavors like chocolate sea salt and maple glaze. You can also get vegan and paleo doughnuts free of common allergens like gluten. Isaac and Stephanie Meek’s company has since added a shop in East Nashville and a counter in Sylvan Park’s L&L Market." - Eater Staff

Where to Eat in Nashville’s 12 South Neighborhood

"Five Daughters Bakery now has several locations across the South offering the fried treats that put this Franklin-based business on the map — namely the 100-layer doughnut, a croissant hybrid that can take several days to create and comes in flavors like chocolate sea salt and maple glaze. The simple but cute counter-service 12 South location also offers yeasted doughnuts, seasonal flavors, and vegan and paleo doughnuts free of many allergens including gluten." - Kellie Walton, Alex Hendrickson

"Between raising a family (they actually do have five daughters) and growing their small business, Five Daughters owners Isaac and Stephanie Meek definitely have their hands full. Isaac comes from a family of bakers—his grandfather baked cakes and his father owned a pizza shop—and he's made this fledgling bakery famous for a 100-layer donut, which tastes like an overly decadent cronut and takes three days to make. Between those magnificent creations and their sister sweets, like paleo donuts (grain, dairy, and sugar-free) and arguably the best cupcakes in town, it's no surprise that they sell out both here and at their Franklin and East Nashville locations, every day."

10 Savory Biscuit Sandwiches to Eat in Nashville - Eater Nashville

"The main affair at Five Daughters Bakery is the 100-Layer-Doughnut of course, but don't overlook the breakfast biscuits served at the Franklin location. Great place to pop in for freshly made donuts. They have a great assortment. We got 3 mini donuts for under $10. They also have coffee available but no espresso so we had to go across the street for an iced latte. Staff was very pleasant and the line moved quickly. We got lucky with a spot right in front but parking could be difficult on the weekends. We would come back!

Google
Visiting Nashville after two years of a hiatus since I been back. This place still hits as good as I remember. I normally dont like donuts. But the 100 layer donuts are like a croissant and a regular donut had a baby. The vanilla cream donuts are my favorite. They have really delicious monthly flavors that change. Also tried thier breakfast sandwiched which was a pleasant surprise how delicious it was since its a donut shop. I would definitely buy that again too. Im a repeat customer and this place a must stop when I visit Nashville.

Google
It's a donut shop. They sell a few cookies and I'm have Paleo and gluten free items and assorted drinks. But the DONUT is the reason we come back. Flavors are on point. No weird chemical aftertaste. Just fresh donuts with imaginative toppings and flavors.

Google
We came to Nashville for the first time in 2024. I had to stop at this bakery and I am so glad that we did. It is amazing! So of course when we found out we were visiting again, I knew this was one of the places we had to stop. The Vanilla cream is my favorite!! The person working is very knowledgeable and so friendly! The prices are 1000% worth it!

Google
The place was super cute when we walked in. We came in very early in the morning around 8:30. Got the Strawberry Shortcake Donut, KingKong Donut, and a Bacon Sandwich. All which tasted amazing! I would come here again! 😍

Google
Cute little shop with a few high top bars to sit and enjoy your treat at. Prices range from small donuts 3ish dollars to bigger ones closer 6. They have breakfast sandwiches and cookies as well. I got the cookie dough and it was delicious! I also got a sugar cookie that was half off from being baked the day prior. Sugar cookie is also delicious. Give em a try!

Google
Very friendly staff and good selection of donuts. I did go after 7pm and you could tell they weren’t as fresh anymore, but that was my fault. I bet they would be phenomenal right out of the oven. A little pricey at almost $6 a donut.

Google
My daughter and I LOVED this spot during our visit to Nashville. So much so that we went twice in 4 days. Besides both locations we visited being adorable, the pastries we got were delicious! She got the purist mini both times. I tried the apple fritter and the Quinn. They were all light, airy, flaky and full of flavor. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Cute little bakery right off the 12 south strip. The place is small, but the line went quick and the options were hard to pick from. We ordered the lemon icebox, the cinnamon toast, strawberry shortcake, and the maple. The maple turned out to by my favorite. It had that sweet icing but also a maple center. It was fluffy and delicious. We went by the downtown location later that night and it looks like they sell out each day. It's a great little business with a great product.

Yelp
We are in town for the first time. Really cute vibes. I've never had a doughnut croissant mix before. Love the cute colors and time spent on a theme. Quick service, all smiles. We tried 4 kinds of donuts, all fantastic! We'll probably come again in the morning! Ha

Yelp
Second time having this. First time, I didn't give the recognition this place deserves. This time I gotta say yeah this place is honestly awesome. The whole concept of this place and business are really based on the daughters of the owner. Which is very adorable. This whole vibe to this place was cute and fun. The doughnuts are simple. But still so good. A simple cronut with cream filling inside? What more do you want? Some donut places do too much with their donuts. But I like the fact that this place keeps their donut flavors simple but still made in a very unique way. Sometimes, simple is just better
google avatar

Yelp
Super cute store with really delicious unique donuts. I love that they have mini versions so that you can try several flavors. All the flavors are so good! And everyone I interacted with was really lovely - highly recommend!
google avatar

April H.

Yelp
The donuts and cookies were just what you expect! The donuts were filled with flavor and the cookies were soft and delicious! The staff were so friendly and helpful! Line was long but went quickly! The area had plenty of things to do and shop for! There were lots of places for photos oops too!
google avatar

Yelp
This is my favorite place to pick up some sweets in Nashville. Their donuts are so unique and delicious with so many selections to choose from. They have their own parking lot which is convenient. Staff are always friendly and your donuts will come in their cute boxes. They also have few cute seating options outside.
google avatar

Yelp
Loved our yummy donuts and coffee, and appreciated the oat milk option for my coffee. We sat at the inside window counter but would have loved to enjoy the outside tables but they were damp from the early morning dew, sprinkles.
google avatar

Yelp
DONUT MISS OUT on Five Daughters when in Nashville! We have a location in Atlanta now, but I had to stop by the original... especially on National Donut Day! Everyone inside was super friendly and they let us walk through with the pup on a tight leash. We decided to order the strawberry shortcake donut (with ALL the 100 layers) and the strawberry glazed yeast raised donut because we were just in a summery mood. Both were excellent - although I will probably stick to their Cronut style donuts next time! The yeast raised donuts were necessarily stand out/memorable but those layered donuts are life changing!
google avatar

Brittany L.

Yelp
Very sweet donuts I got several to try. The sugar around the donuts are too much for me. The boast on crème one was my favorite. They're also kind of expensive for donuts to be too sweet. Service was great though
google avatar

Robert Z.

Yelp
My best friend had been raving about this place and always talked about the donutcam, which I found both intriguing and hilarious. We finally had the chance to make a trip to Nashville together and made sure we dropped by to pick up some donuts. Five daughters specializes in donuts, particularly cronuts and my difficulty was trying to decide on flavors to try. I wanted to try them all but my stomach can only hold so many. I decided to go with a sessonal strawberry shortcake one and a classic vanilla cream. Both were very delicious, flakey, crispy, and creamy and neither were overly sweet. The shop itself is a little small so you order and take out but staff were extremely nice and helped describe some of their popular flavors.
google avatar

Erica D.

Yelp
The lemon blueberry has me always going back to taste something different. They are pricey but delicious. The shop is adorable and the service very friendly.
google avatar

Sarah A.

Yelp
The mini 100 layer donuts might be my new favorite thing! I've never had a cronut before but I love a good donut as well as pastures with flaky layers so this is the perfect sweet treat. The original size is also yummy, but the smaller ones allow you to try more flavors and share with friends! After enjoying the pillowy soft texture of their layered donuts, I really wanted to like the other pastries here. I opted for a quinn hoping it would be similar to a kouign amann with its countless buttery layers. I was sorely disappointed as the quinn was dry and dense at the same time. It felt more like a bread or biscuit instead of a flaky pastry. The bottom hadn't fully caramelized and it was falling off in sugary chunks and sticking to my hands and clothes. Next time I come for the donuts I'll try my luck with a savory pastry or cookie, they look amazing!
google avatar

Alysn O.

Yelp
The donut is truly packed with flavor and should have a Michelin star.Even though we were a bit indecisive our servers were patient and their box has positive messages. The setting of the store is such a peaceful place and packed with joy.

Phil M.

Yelp
Everything just has way too much sugar. It shouldn't be the main ingredient at these prices nor would I want it anyway regardless of price. I want flavor not filler
google avatar

Kyra J.

Yelp
This shop is super cute and the staff was friendly. I got three donuts to try: Tiramisu, Strawberry lemon, and chocolate sea salt. They were all DIVINE. So soft and the flavors were amazing. Definitely want to try some other flavors again soon.
google avatar

Lexi M.

Yelp
We were walking in this area and saw this spot and had to pop in to see what they had to offer. Before you get inside, they have an outdoor area for kids to play! How amazing is that? You go and get a coffee and pastries for the kiddos, you let the kids play in this enclosed play area outside all the while you get to drink your coffee in peace. It's an amazing concept! So nice for them to have an outdoor play area.
google avatar

Charlotte F.

Yelp
Love. The 100 layer croissant donut is unbeatable. I always go for the seasonal flavors! Good indoor and fun outdoor seating. Kid friendly!
google avatar

Katie C.

Yelp
Staff was so sweet and accommodating, especially for those who are indecisive. Such a cute aesthetic spot, worth trying when you're here visiting. Definitely make sure your phone/camera has battery, you will want to take pictures. Best cronut texture I've had- fluffy, not dense, not too sweet, non greasy.
google avatar

Anna N.

Yelp
Such a cute little place. Came in around 2pm on a Saturday. Parked in the back lot. We love a good Cronut; and these did not disappoint. Got 3 minis and 2 regular sized cronuts, about $21.
google avatar

Sierra B.

Yelp
Absolutely THE PLACE for all your cronut needs! I adore the maple glazed option and the classic plain glazed ones! The ladies that work there are always super kind and helpful! It's in a nice spot with some open seating so you can enjoy your sweet treat there or take it with ya! I love the minis bc they are small and you can try all the flavors without feeling too greedy

Yelp
5 Daughters Bakery can single handedly make my day completely better without a doubt! At work, my coworkers and I tend to get a couple boxes and share it amongst one another by cutting it into pieces. That way everyone can get a piece of each type! The aesthetic of the box is minimal and sleek which I love. I honestly have no bad impressions nor anything bad to say. So, if you're ever craving some sweets, I promise you donuts but more specifically from Five Daughters Bakery is worth a shot!
google avatar

Parnika N.

Yelp
I have tried donuts at plenty of places because i truly love them, but I must confess, the donuts at five daughter's bakery is like none that you've had before. The 100 layer donuts are light a little flaky and moderately sweet. The donut team is extremely sweet and friendly. Its also interesting how the owner started making donuts, and i am so happy to promote a female led business. The donut shop in gulch is quite pink and vibrant, i love how they display every sample of the donuts with labels. I have my eyes on the cookies too, i shall try them soon in the future. Meanwhile, its the best donut shop, you're truly missing out, if you haven't tried them, yet
google avatar

Galya T.

Yelp
The best donuts in town! Literally came in to order 1 donut to pair with a cup of coffee but nooooo we ordered about 6 to bring to our family to share. We didn't feel like they should be left out! Customer service was so amazing and so patient with us because we kept changing our minds between what donuts we wanted and not! 100/10! Absolutely must try
google avatar

Jodi B.

Yelp
We went twice while on our visit to Nashville- that's how good it was! The dough absolutely melts in your mouth! Everything we tried was delicious.
google avatar

Marilyn B.

Yelp
Yummy! This is a unique donut experience. They have 100 layer donuts which is a cross between a donut and a croissant. We tried 6 different kinds: Grasshopper Blueberry lemon Triple raspberry Cream cheese sticky bun Chocolate sea salt King Kong (maple bacon) My personal favorites were the blueberry lemon which was infused with a tart lemon curd, the chocolate sea salt and the King Kong. The Bakery is open all day every day (unless they sell out). So swing by for a sweet treat!
google avatar

Janie D.

Yelp
Family owned bakery, best known for their "100 Layer" croissant style donuts. They also offer paleo cake donuts, cookies, other pastries, and specialty drinks. They currently have 8 locations in Tennessee/Georgia. I stopped in on a weekday afternoon, and they were completely sold out aside from two flavors: "The Purist" (a glazed cronut), and a paleo chocolate/peanut butter cake donut. I opted for both. The interior was charming, and the staff were friendly, but I was admittedly put off by the Bible verses on the packaging. "The Purist", a glazed Cronut, was just okay. I enjoyed the creamy, buttery glaze, but the layers were thick, heavy, and wet. The paleo donut was better than I expected, with a moist crumb and a rich icing. It was extremely oily though. I took a couple bites of each, and could not continue.
google avatar

Jill G.

Yelp
We stopped here while shopping in Nashville. They are not your typical donuts. Everything is a cross between a croissant and donut... the result is something special! So light and airy and delicious! You need to stop here and grab a few....dozen!
google avatar

Tania G.

Yelp
There were so many good things people said about this place so we had to stop by. Such a cute little shop! The donuts were all so decorative and cute- our group definitely appreciated them all!
google avatar

Alex A.

Yelp
These are "cronuts" croissant dough that is shaped/frosted like a donut, so dozen of layers. IMO the best and most unique flavor is the Blueberry/Lavender cronut.
google avatar

Kelly Dues T.

Yelp
This bakery is amazing! They have regular, vegan, and gluten free donuts. This location is in an upscale area. Parking is free for one hour around the corner at Metropolis parking garage. Staff were so nice! Thanks for a great experience.
google avatar

Kenna G.

Yelp
Cutest bakery! Love all of the pink decor. Service here was amazing, everyone was so happy & kind. My mini cinnamon cream cheese donut was outstanding. They have so many fun donut options!!!
google avatar

Krysten H.

Yelp
FOOD The donuts here are worth the hype, ordered gluten free and a maple donut. AMBIANCE They were doing construction in the building, so all I could hear was the work being done while waiting in line. I couldn't talk to my partner or even hear myself think. I wish they would do this after hours and would have made my time much more enjoyable here.
google avatar

Catia L.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this bakery, which was cute and had a nice layout. The workers greeted us when we went in and were especially helpful since this was our first time. They explained the different pastries they offered. We got five pastries: salted caramel doughnut, mini purist, mini pumpkin spice latte, mini cinnamon sugar, mini apple. I wanted to love it, but they were overly sweet and this is coming from someone who loves sweets especially doughnuts.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Minimal, modern and trendy- oh and delicious donuts. Small line, moved quickly. Several options to choose from. Hubby choose a few flavors that he raved about, for me it was all about the King Kong (maple bacon). The croissant/doughnut hybrid are yummy! I would def come back and get the same thing next time.
google avatar

Lindsey K.

Yelp
This is a MUST if you're visiting Nashville!!! Best cronut i've had in a while! They have so many flats to choose from. My favorites were the original, vanilla cream, and chocolate sea salt!! All of them were incredible though! We didn't try any cookies but they looked AMAZING! It's such a cute little shop and has a couch and some tables for seating! Service was quick and everyone was so helpful! 10/10!

N H.

Yelp
Great 1st stop in 12 North. Donuts are amazing! Had the vanilla cream and lemon seasonal. Both were amazing! Don't miss this one!
google avatar

Kandis B.

Yelp
Dropped off easily by Uber and drooling at the selections. Bring your sweet tooth and be prepared to be in awe. They have a few Gluten free options also. The location is precious and service is pretty quick. Almost always a line incase you hit it at the right time . Either way, they do not disappoint!
google avatar

Scoot H.

Yelp
We had the apple fritters, chocolate with sprinkles and the purist. Sweet but not overly sweet. Perfect density. Fast service, even with long line.
google avatar

Christa M.

Yelp
You have to stop by this bakery if you are in the area and even if you are not! I have had this place bookmarked ever since I started planning my trip to TN and I finally made it in. We stopped by around 4pm on Tuesday and we were quickly greeted by the very festive and cute building. We walked on in and the gentleman working quickly greeted us and told us the bakery would be in the room next door. We went right over and looked over the doughnuts they still had available. There weren't many doughnuts left so we got a sugar cookie one and a strawberry one. A lot of their selections were already sold out for the day but we were happy with the flavors we got. We ate them back at the hotel and we were in love! I had never tried anything like these doughnuts and I wish we had bought more. On the inside they were soft, moist, and each layer was delicious. The sugar cookie one had cream inside and it was sooooo good! I wish we had a shop like this nearby as I would totally frequent it. This was the best birthday treat to myself and I am so glad we stopped by! Great doughnuts, such a cute building, and friendly service, thank you!

Yelp
Great Donuts Now In The Gulch! Five Daughters has long been at the top of the list of Nashville's Best Donuts. But now, we don't have to go to 12 South to get them. The old Starbucks space has been filled by Five Daughters, offering their delicious donuts, cookies, and coffee. The Vanilla Cream 100 Layer Donut is still my favorite. It combines the delicious 100 layer donut with the rich and sweet Vanilla Cream filling. If you're wondering what to try, try this one first.
google avatar

Kiki B.

Yelp
Best donut EVER! This is a must try for any Nashville trip. We loved all the cute photo opps and the staff was super friendly. We were told the Purist was a top seller and we absolutely LOVED every bite!
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
Recently came here while in town. The donuts were so tasty and the staff was really helpful. The line was short the morning we went but i can definitely tell that there is usually a long line. Parking was easy in the back. we got a half dozen so we could all try different things. None of the donuts disappointed. I can't wait to come back and try their other flavors!
google avatar

Sharice S.

Yelp
These are the most unusual donuts that I've ever had. So unusual that I found myself eating them every day for 3 days and buying them so my friends and coworkers could experiencethem too! Staff was friendly without a long wait. Will miss these when I return home.
google avatar

Pete J.

Yelp
We tried three donut shops in Nashville when we were there after someone told us about a donut tour. This was a really good donut. They were so thick, yet very airy at the same time. This was our second place choice. I guess because it was the most expensive of the three. But the donuts were amazing.
google avatar

Cynthia L.

Yelp
Outdoor seating only. They also have mini sizes for the indecisive. Never been a huge fan of cronuts but these were some of the best I've had. Good filling to dough ratio and not too sweet. Definitely give it a try if you're into donuts/cronuts.
google avatar

Albert T.

Yelp
This is a take out only location. There was a line of customers on a Saturday morning, with several parties ahead of me, but it only took a couple of minutes before it was my turn to order. I only ordered one donut to try it out and afterwards kind of regretted not getting more. 100 Layer Donut - The Purist ($4.75) - This is a good quality cronut that is well laminated. The layers are very easy to put apart. Crowning the top is a sweet icing (just a normal donut glaze) but it's a thin layer so it's not overwhelmingly sweet. The croissant is moist, buttery, and fluffy. There's a thin perimeter of crunch around the pastry which gives a nice textural contrast. Not much else you could ask for in a cronut. I would have gotten more had I not already have gotten a bunch of pastries from another place down the street.
google avatar

Marie S.

Yelp
Always delicious. My only issue is that the limited edition flavors you hear about for the holidays on email have it be pre-ordered and picked up on that one day. I was hoping to get some while in town, but couldn't . Oh well. Everything else I bought was fantastic.
google avatar

Yohonna B.

Yelp
To me this place was blah and overhyped . I was curious to try this place because it got pretty good yelp reviews and it pops up as a must try doughnut place in Nashville . Anyways I ordered the King Kong donut . The donut did look good at first glance . However when I bit into it was less than I desired . To me the donut was greasy and heavy and it wasn't that great . I also ordered an ice coffee and that was okay it wasn't the greatest .
google avatar

Deya M.

Yelp
Some places are overhyped, Five Daughters is not. This place really lives up to its name! I came by in the morning to get my favorite flavor- vanilla cream. The cronut base is perfectly flakey and the vanilla cream is soft and fluffy. I love this flavor because it's not too sweet! Parking is hard to find like anywhere one 12th Ave S so I recommend street parking on any of the side streets. I know the $6 price for a donut is steep, but I promise, it'll be the best $6 you'll ever spend!
