On the Grid : Five Horses Tavern

"Five Horses Tavern is one of the few modern pub style restaurants in the South End. Built on craft beers from around the world offering 36 rotating drafts and 80 bottles. The food is locally sourced modern American comfort food with consistent vegetarian options as well. Outdoor patio is a major bonus, but if it's full up, there are plenty of seats inside." - Adam&Co.

Five Horses Tavern - Review - Boston - The Infatuation

"This wood-paneled spot on Tremont has an expanded pub menu (tacos and pizzas in addition to the requisite burgers and wings), and close to 30 beers on tap, including one rotating cask option. If you haven’t had cask ale before, it’s a little warmer and less carbonated than what you might be used to. It also tends to feel less filling than keg beer, so you’ll at least think you’ll be able to try the other 29 beers for a moment before realizing what a terrible idea that would be. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

14 Hot Cocktails to Soothe Boston’s Chill

"Hot apple cider is a New England winter staple, and Five Horses Tavern knows that the only thing that could possibly make it better is an ounce or two of booze. The bar’ll spike your hot cider with your choice of vanilla vodka, Irish whiskey, or maple bourbon." - Katie Faust Stryjewski

Nice beer tap selection. They have been flights. Clean restrooms. Tasty food. Street parking if you can find any. They also do take out. Friendly staff. Very yummy fries.

Very nice neighborhood bar and restaurant with plenty of food options and even better craft beer options. I had the power bowl and that was really good. But getting Maine and Hill Farmstead beer from the tap is special. Also great barkeeper and very friendly service.

10 Stars!!! Mimi was our server and David was our beer guy. Mimi was quick and efficient. David was super knowledgeable about all the different beers in the area, on their tap, and what we would like according to our tastes. Food was excellent! I had their fish and chips. Fish was fried perfectly, crispy on the outside, moist and tender white flesh fish in the center. My wife also loved her Powerbowl salad and my son enjoyed his asian wings. Between the service and the food, I would tell all my friends in Boston to check out this place.

I was suprised find this tavern packed on a (random) Tuesday night and to be able to get a table, rather quickly, despite not having a reservation; Thanks to Krystal the hostess at the time. The food was delicious for both me and my husband and we were served by both Lucy and Emma, which were both so nice and thoughtful. Ps. If you are on a diet, like me, try their secret salad.

Grabbing a semi-late night dinner and my friends wanted a classical American vibe so we went here. Patatas Braves Roasted potatoes, chili seasoning, lime, cotija, chipotle aioli My friends told me this is not quite right because when it is done right it should be crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I tasted, and I do agree it is not quite there. Fish N Chips I ordered this and it was revolutionary for me. The fish is sooo good as it is super thinly battered and fried. The internal was flaky and light (I believe it is cod). Great to pair with wedge potato fries and tartare sauce. Sweet Chili Chicken wings Not the best wings but it was good with honey coating. They paired with ranch sauce which I found it to be quite awkward. Chicken Sammy Sandwich with fried chicken, honey, lemon tarragon mayo, lettuce, paired with cheddar jalapeño potato mash. Cannot speak on behave of my friend but I tried the mash, and it was really smooth and cheesy. The melted cheese situation is divine. Honestly without drinking you shouldn’t come here. Beers and draft probably will do this place greater justice. Not so warm service but ample to get things done.

This is a nice, typical neighborhood tavern. Good for after-work or just hanging out with friends. The place is clean and there's outdoor seating. The food itself was good. I had the fish and chips. It was a nice sized serving. The drinks though, were just ok. I had the margarita flight and wasn't really impressed, hence the 3 stars. The service was good, but the staff would disappear for long periods. Not a terrible thing, gives you a chance to enjoy your company, but still felt long. The atmosphere was good. Not too loud, friendly staff, comfortable

We came here for dinner and enjoyed our food. There is a good variety of options on the menu but nothing inspiring or very unique. That being said the food is good and if you’re with a group everyone will likely be able to find something they like. I actually prefer this restaurant for breakfast/brunch. The donuts are a delicious way the start, and the mimosa flight obviously. Overall we enjoyed our experience and our waiter was very attentive and polite.

Normally I love this neighborhood spot and have had plenty of great experiences there. But tonight, I was served a pizza that was probably the worst food I’ve been served in a restaurant in 6+ months. It was undercooked, doughy, lightly topped. I would have rather made a frozen pizza at home than ever order this pie again. I’ll give Five Horses another chance, but I’ll never order the pizza again.
