Five Iron Golf Review - Midtown - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Five Iron in Midtown is a spacious eat-and-play restaurant for serious golfers—golfers so into their game that they couldn’t care less that their order of pretzels lack flavor or that the buffalo cauliflower is so over-battered it could be subbed in for a golf ball. Ignore most of the pub menu as you're here for swings and sips from the full-service bar. But if you do work up an appetite in your private virtual golf bay, the decent hot dog is on par with country club standards." - Nina Reeder

Google
Great alternative in lieu of playing a real golf course. Club rentals are free (nice clubs too), great happy hour specials and late night specials too, lots of TVs playing sports, a bar area, shuffle board, ping pong, foosball and pop a shot. This place is hidden in my opinion, a gem of a find if you love golf. It quietly spacious too with two floors. Fore!!!!

Google
Staff were all super friendly and accommodating! Took my son for his 12th birthday and the General Manager Jeff came over multiple times to give my son tips and help him with his swing. On top of that the simulators were great and just made for an enjoyable experience. Would highly recommend this place if you are an avid golfer or just looking for a fun experience with friend

Philip Booth

Google
Had a great time at 5 iron! My friends and I go here a lot. This time I was catching up with my friend before heading back to school. Thanks Jeff for the free shots and making it fun time.

Rene Nava

Google
"Absolutely blown away by the 5i fitting experience! The team was knowledgeable, professional, and took the time to understand my swing and needs. The recommendations they made have significantly improved my game. The whole process was seamless and enjoyable. Highly recommend to any golfer looking to take their game to the next level. Five stars isn't enough - I'd give them ten stars if I could!"

Google
Good place for a quick round or practice session. I have noticed that the integrity of the screens has diminished since the last time I came here(rip in the screen and not hung at the corners all the way). The mats were a little worn out and not flat. The team also had a huddle which was pretty loud and was in the middle of the entire floor where it could be all heard. Although I appreciate the camaraderie and communication, it could have been done in a quieter place and not in a central area. Overall, staff is pleasant and helpful. Just would appreciate a little more care to the facility and surroundings.

Google
Really disappointing experience. I chose 5 Iron Golf for a small birthday gathering specifically because of their advertised deal for unlimited wings or beers at participating locations. I called twice before booking to confirm that the Flatiron NYC location was included. Both times, I was told yes — no restrictions, available all day. I even asked to double-check with someone else because I wanted to make sure before spending more money here instead of going to Hudson Golf or Chelsea Piers (both of which are cheaper and honestly nicer). When we arrived, the staff told us the deal wasn’t available at that location. I showed them my phone logs proving I had called ahead, but they said there was nothing they could do and that customer service “isn’t always aligned” with the actual locations. That’s not acceptable. I did my part — I called, I confirmed, and I brought a small group expecting what was promised. If your customer service can’t provide accurate info, why even bother having it? This felt misleading, unprofessional, and like no one was willing to take responsibility for the miscommunication. Ruined the vibe of the celebration and made me regret choosing 5 Iron.

Google
Awkward and uncomfortable experience. Visited on 7/22/25 as a walk-in during their 3-6 PM happy hour. At 5:55 PM, I tried to order wings. One staff member (behind the bar) began helping me, but another butted in from across the room saying the kitchen wouldn't want to make more food “so late,” and that they were “closing the kitchen” despite it being within the happy hour window and the kitchen wasn't closing as it stays open late into the evening. Oddly, my friend ordered wings minutes later—at full price—and they had no problem making those. It genuinely seemed like they just didn’t want to honor the happy hour price, and instead of saying so, they threw the bar staff member under the bus with flimsy excuses. At the expense of saving themselves $10 with the wings, the whole situation felt awkward, uncomfortable, and unnecessarily hostile, especially toward the staff member who was trying to help me. Facilities were just okay—older equipment and a weirdly placed TrackMan (placed on the right side of the bay and uncentered). The only real positive was the helpful bartender when we arrived (which is why I'm giving it 2 stars and not 1). But compared to other 5iron locations that are friendlier and better maintained, this one just didn't quite measure up.

Google
I wanted to give a big shoutout to James, the GM at the flatiron location. He’s one of the best managers/leaders I’ve been around. He reminds me a lot of Winston Churchill. He is beloved and respected and runs the tightest of ships. You can tell a lot about a manager by the way they treat their employees and James strikes the perfect balance between professionalism and kindness. He treats all the employees with the utmost respect and is constantly lending a helping hand (the guy does not sit down ever. I think he’s allergic to seats). Just a great gentleman who deserves to be recognized

Yelp
Played in a charity golf outing hosted by Five Iron Golf on Saturday, September 7th at Ron Jaworsku's Valleybrook Golf Club. Fantastic event! Very well organized and run by the Five Iron crew. In spite of a heavy downpour during the event, Five Iron crew were attentive to golfers' needs throughout the event. Shout out in particular to Justin! Great experience! See you next year!

Yelp
We booked a small party with pre ordered platters and two simulators. Some of us were experienced, most of us were first time golfing. Food was okay, it's what you would expect from a bar. The bartender and all other staff were nice. We all had a great time.

Yelp
Tristan was extremely helpful in improving my swing. He was patient and explained everything so that it was easy to understand. I'd recommend him in a heartbeat! The facility and other staff members (shout out to Grace) are also fantastic. If you're thinking about booking here, just do it! You won't be disappointed! P.S. The food is also surprisingly delicious.

Yelp
Trackman was either old or the computer was slow, it lagged like a mutha! Won't be a next time.

Yelp
I 'e been to Flatiron and hearald Square facilities. Both really nice. Great simulators and equipmentI took two lessons there. The first one was almost worthless. . Learned nothing other than a few disinterested comments on what I was doing wrong. Zero effort to give me something to work on to fix them - which I thought was the whole point of the lesson. Second lesson was very good (Mike I think was his name). Nice, involved guy who gave me a bunch of pointers on how to fix some things. Left encouraged and happy, as opposed to almost asking for my money back and writing the place off after the first "lesson". I like the facilities, and will visit again. (odd, but they never answer my emails about membership)

John O.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible experience at their NYC Flatiron location. technician was totally unhelpful, couldn't fix the problem of data such as club path, face angle etc. not being captured. He said he "consulted" with his manager (Gayle) who said "it often doesn't get picked up in chips, only in full swings." B.S., it didn't get picked up in full swings half the time either. But that wasn't the worst thing. They emailed me my report at the end, assuring me it would come through. It never did. I went back later and asked them to retrieve the data and re-send. Sorry, no can do, the manager Gayle said. So I had nothing to show for my session. Just a terrible experience, I will not be returning to 5 iron Flatiron and because the company has lost my trust, I won't be going back to any 5 iron locations.

Yelp
TRISTAN IS THE MAN! I'm new to golf (10 months), and Tristan was great to work with because of his fresh and genuine desire to see golfers get better. Upon the first few minutes meeting him and taking some full swings he broke out in a smile out of excitement for what we were about to do (get me to a 10-handicap: goals that we talked about from the get go). He's super patient, really kind and there isn't a single feeling of judgment when you hit a dreaded shank . . . he helps you get back up there and next thing you know . . . PURED 7iron with a tight draw. All of this is to say . . . if you want to become a better golfer, work with Tristan!

Yelp
I started taking lessons so that I could hold my own on the golf course with my boyfriend and Tristan has helped me feel so much more confident. He is beyond patient and really breaks things down. My swing has become so much better and less awkward. While I still have a lot to learn, I am so much more aware of what to do and how to self correct myself. I've taken 6 lessons with Tristan and they have been very helpful. Going to play a real course this Sunday for the first time and can't wait! Highly recommend!

Nolan F.

Yelp
Took a lesson there with Tristan after doing a swing evaluation with one of the other pros. Both were helpful, but Tristan did a great job of helping me understand my swing and gave me multiple drills to work on. We then played a few holes and he coached me through the different shots. Highly recommend taking a lesson with Tristan and am looking forward to working with him in the future.

Alex E.

Yelp
Great first golf lesson and experience! I'm a very amateur golfer (i.e. hitting the driving range once a year at maximum) and I had my first ever golf lesson with Tom Sutter. The overall set up is impressive with the Trackman system that takes a video of your swing and provides info on distance, hit angle, etc. Tom was great at teaching and improving my swing mechanics in even just one lesson. He was patient and good at explaining the nuances of how and why to swing a certain way. Just bought a pack of lessons and excited to go back!

Yelp
My husband and I played doubles with our children. It was quite fun! We get to choose the golf course of which they have hundred of famous courses around the world. It was a rainy day in New York and we decided to stay indoors and still have fun! So we went to Five Iron Golf and had at least an hour of golf. Once you start playing, you will get into it and feel you're actually in a golf course. We will scream and laugh when our balls will end up in the water or ocean. The lady who was attending to us the day we visited was very helpful and courteous. It was a great day to bond with the kids (actually young married couple).

Christine Y.

Yelp
I took a small group lesson with Tristan as a beginner with no golf experience at all. Tristan was really patient and effective at teaching the fundamentals of the sport! My friends and I had such a great time two of us decided to sign up for a clinic Tristan was teaching after the lesson.

Brooks M.

Yelp
Great place and great people. Took a lesson with Tristan, really personable and knowledge. Highly recommend!

Evan C.

Yelp
I started working with Tristan Lesso about a month ago and have had a great experience. Tristan listens closely to my goals and has been helping me achieve them through our lessons. Tristan is extremely attentive and has genuine interest in my improvement. He uses the Trackman data to really help me comprehend what I need to work on to improve my golf swing. Tristan also takes notes during the lessons for me and provides me with swing drills I can use at home or on the range in between our lessons. I am very excited to continue working with Tristan!

Yelp
I had an awesome time with some friends pretending to play golf. I reserved 2 lanes and was lucky that they weren't busy, the bays were right next to each other. The first 4 ppl are included in your reservation, but you can pay for up to more people at $15/hr per person. We never played a full round of golf, or even pitch and putt because none of my friends had played golf before. So we utilized the practice driving range to learn how to swing the club and then did a longest drive competition. After an hour or so we asked our very gracious host to switch up the games and then played a target practice game at the carnival. Kameela was awesome. She made sure my group was completely satisfied the whole time we were there. We ordered drinks galore, and lots of single food options; so the kitchen was running back and forth for us. Lucky for us there wasn't a reservation after us, so we were able to enjoy our whole time and not be rushed out at the end. I'm definitely going to be visiting this location again. Maybe next time I will actually work on my game. If you are hosting an event for more than 7 people, you can pay $50pp/hr. You can also add on a drink package and food platters. The event reservation will also give your group time with a golf pro.

Bob R.

Yelp
Great lesson with Tristan. Good tips and good energy. Focussed my in on a major swing thought right away. Immediately saw improvement on the course.

Chloe W.

Yelp
really enjoy my lessons with Tristan! he is very supportive and always available to give me feedback on my swings! I am a beginner but already improved so much. would definitely recommend to my friends.

Corey B.

Yelp
I've gotten 5 lessons with Tristan Lesso at the Flatiron location and plan to keep working with him to better my game! Tristan knows what he's talking about, and is specifically attentive to what works for the specific player. He's great at breaking things down into manageable changes to my swing one at a time, and pointing out exactly what is going wrong and how to fix it. I'm looking forward to my next lesson with Tristan!

Jabari H.

Yelp
We came to the flatiron location during the summer for a team outing. John was really helpful in helping plan the initial event and Nick was especially helpful making sure that we were taken care of while we were there. He helped us get all set up when we first got there and was able to extend our time for our group because we were having so much fun! Highly recommend! A+ staff and customer service

Yelp
Great city escape when you're looking to get a round of golf in but can't make it out to the outer boroughs to play or are looking for a cheaper way to work on your game

Lucas B.

Yelp
Unreal atmosphere, unreal service. Hopefully you get lucky and are there a night when Ethan and Jack are working. Two of the greatest guys on earth. 10/10 experience

Yelp
This place is awesome. When you're tired of activities like bowling, dart or axe throwing and even your traditional driving range, stop by Five Iron Golf. A place with many golf simulation booths for only $65 an hour for up to as many as 5 players. Practice your swing or play a real simulated game. There is a shuffleboard, putting greens and a ping pong table to keep you entertained. The employees there are very helpful and incredibly kind. There's a bar for you to grab drinks and a food menu. You can stay in here for hours if you want. Def recommend for dates, bday parties or just a simple night out with friends.

PC C.

Yelp
A+ space A+ staff A+ pricing given the concept Management put a lot of thought and care into the business and it shows If you want to play simulator golf, eat and drink, just show up, simple as that, no need to bring anything else
google avatar

Jessica K.

Yelp
My friends and I came here on a Friday evening and had such a good time. We reserved two golf simulators and it was genuinely a great time. The place is clean, well-staffed, and service is pretty good. They had a bar along with food- we only got the tater tots but they were pretty good. The place is also pretty quiet which is rare in nyc to find quieter group activities to do. They also had a ping pong table that we enjoyed and a coat rack to hang your clothes. Def recommend bringing a group of 4-5 friends!

Yelp
Nick and Tristen were absolutely amazing, from providing stellar service , recommending great pizza within the location, and providing great golf knowledge. Highly recommend coming to this location and requesting to be helped by them. Truly exquisite!
google avatar

Christina Z.

Yelp
Love the instructors and the virtual golf. Definitely helped provide me some tips to improve my swing. Also, the food is pretty good, but they are SUPER SLOW at coming out. My favorite was the tater tots with aioli. I would suggest that they add some mocktails or nonalcoholic alternatives that aren't plain juice or soda, though!

Ishaq H.

Yelp
Nick and Tristan were amazing! I'm not a big golfer but had a great time. I'd recommend it for sure.

Yama N.

Yelp
Amazing service by Nick and Tristan. Made our friend's birthday celebration spectacular.

Shari F.

Yelp
Fun and the chicken park sliders were awesome. A little expensive for what you get but it was still a fun time.

Yelp
I joined Five Iron Golf last month after taking a few lessons with Susan Choi. Never in a million years did I think I would take up golfing. I was intimidated by the boys' club atmosphere of most golf places, where a Vietnamese immigrant like me was much likelier to be found working the kitchen than swinging clubs over business deals. But upon recently marrying my golf-enthusiast husband, I vowed to myself to not look like a fool at his country club this summer. Per my friend (another Vietnamese-American female member)'s suggestion, I started taking lessons intermittently with Susan. Slowly I was hooked--she has amazing spirit and energy, not to mention a killer swing, impressive credentials, and lots of patience for newbies like me! I've gone through my share of subpar golf instructors and Susan is the real deal! She has such an eye and intuition for detail and really broke down the swing bit by bit in ways I could process and retain the information. So I caved and joined, and boy was I glad I did! I get every $$ worth of my membership, and as an Asian, I cannot resist a good deal ;). Especially now that they opened a new location smack dab between my workplace and home. I have been there almost every day since I got back from my honeymoon! It is so nice to have a little oasis in the big city, where a gal like me can play a little hooky, channel her inner finance bro and hit balls on a weekday afternoon. The entire staff is beyond friendly and attentive, and despite the clientele being predominantly of a certain persuasion and race, I have never felt uncomfortable in that space. Can't recommend enough for my fellow city-dwelling golfers--gals, guys, gays and everything in between.

Yelp
Incredible place to start learning golf, staff are very warm inviting especially Susan Choi, she has an amazing lively spirit, very patient with teaching beginners. I recommend her to anyone wanting to learn golf!

Ross W.

Yelp
I don't write reviews online. But James Field helped me improve my swing to such an extent that I felt it was necessary. Highly, highly recommend.
google avatar

Tony Y.

Yelp
5i is so much more fun than Chelsea Piers golf! Once 5i finally reopened, I stopped letting CP price gouge me. Hitting on an indoor simulator is a great way to see all of your stats (swing speed, launch angle etc) while practicing. I usually warm up for about 15 mins then go straight to playing one of the many courses offered on the sim. Took my son and he had a blast too!
google avatar

Brian P.

Yelp
Five iron golf is brand new and much needed in NYC. Vibes there are great - good music (request your tunes) and people. Ping pong, nice couches, even a shower...there are a lot of amenities for a tidy spot with four full swing simulators, club fitting, lessons, etc. It feels like a private club, a great place to bring a few friends and unwind. I tried out the latest Mizuno clubs here and they're great. If you happen to buy some clubs from them, they even could store the clubs for you in the back if you become a member. They're working on a liquor license

Lauren M.

Yelp
Our company event was a huge hit at Five Iron. Tayler was super helpful in the planning process and great to work with!
google avatar

Kevin R.

Yelp
Five Iron Golf is an awesome spot for work events. I'd been hosting clients in the back rooms of the typical midtown steak houses for years, this is an awesome alternative. Sam was a huge help in getting everything organized. Great food and high-end bar were perfect for our clientele. Instruction from Five Iron's pros was top notch as well. Will definitely come back and can say this is an a great change of pace from the typical corporate entertaining venues.

Kirill A.

Yelp
Best golf facility in NYC. We hosted a large event and everyone has a great time! Sims are in great condition and food was delicious.

Lawrence T.

Yelp
Got a lesson from Alex- super helpful with breaking down my swing and analyzing each part of it. He knew exactly where I was going wrong with each swing, and by the end I was hitting the ball pretty consistently. Thank you!!
google avatar

Peter R.

Yelp
I'm an avid golfer/15 handicap that went in looking to work on a few things that were annoying me and I couldn't be happier with the results from my time spent with Susan Choi at Five Iron Golf. There has been a NOTICEABLE improvement in my ball flight and accuracy as long as I focus on doing exactly what she taught me. One hour made a world of difference for me and I look forward to going back.

Yelp
Could not recommend Five Iron any higher! Whether you're an avid golfer or just looking for something different to do in the city, this is the place for you. I personally like to come to Five Iron in the mornings before work to get some practice in. The simulators give you great data feedback about what you are doing right and wrong with your swing so that you can make quick progress towards lowering your scores. Five Iron is also great to drop by in the afternoons/evenings/weekends for a few drinks with some friends whilst playing one of ~100 world class golf courses. They have a full bar and the food is great. I've also played in a couple of the Golf Leagues that they organize which has been really fun. You form a team of 4 and you play one night a week in a different format each week against other teams. One week you'll play a 4-man scramble at Pebble Beach, the next you'll play a Hogan format at Torrey Pines. The format and courses you play change every week to keep things fresh and exciting. This is way more fun than that kickball league that your co-worker is trying to get you to sign up for. Finally, the staff at Five Iron are second to none. You'll be greeted with a smile and coffee/beer as soon as you arrive. The team will go above and beyond - like delivering your clubs to your office when they had to close down briefly during July '18 because of a steam pipe explosion on 5th Ave, or just ensuring that you have the fluffiest towel when you hit the showers.

Yelp
Sean represents the word hospitality. Parents were in town and wanted something proactive to do on a Saturday night. Did a quick google search and the rest is history. If you're a golf fanatic or just trying to grab a beer - this is the place.

Yelp
Completely new to golf, but it's next to impossible to just pick up living in the city. Walked past this place enough times for me to finally wander in for a lesson. Once I got in I realized this was where I need to be. The instructors have made it very easy for me to not only learn the basics of posture, grip, etc, but making me feel like I make progress each time. I've picked up a ten pack of lessons, and may do a second batch depending how it goes by the end. Also highly suggest this for hitting balls with friends, having a few drinks, or just as a happy hour. Couldn't be more impressed. Keep it up!

John M.

Yelp
I took a series of lessons with James. He had a calm demeanor, was patient, and most importantly helped improve my swing. He is a great instructor and very detail oriented. He helped get me 20% off on lessons and counseled me on the correct number of lessons (i.e. advised against the biggest package based on the improvement I had made, which I found to be very genuine) ... would recommend.
google avatar

Kelly J.

Yelp
Five Iron Golf was so much fun! We went before Covid, and it was just something different to do. The customer service was great also. I would definitely recommend trying it out when you get the chance!!
google avatar

Ian S.

Yelp
I have been to Five Iron Golf a few times now and have had a great experience each time. From a golf perspective, the simulators are state-of-the-art and play truer to any other simulator I have used in the past. The ability to use top-of-the-line clubs at no charge and have a variety of different golf balls to choose from also makes Five Iron Golf stand out from other simulators. From a social perspective, Five Iron Golf has it nailed down. A small bar, solid food selection, ping pong table and several TV's, make for a solid social setting that does not intrude on the golf experience, but allows for a little bit of everything. Seems like they have some great events from their Instagram, but I have not attended one yet. A friendly and helpful staff contribute to an all-around great experience. Highly recommend to golfers of any level!

Yelp
This place is fantastic! 2 quick things to mention: 1) they are not on ground level so look for a sandwich board sign out front. 2) the stairwell and elevator are a bit off putting, don't be sketched out. They don't own the building, the stairwell or or elevator so it's 100% out of their control. As soon as the doors open you realize the time and care that went into building 5iron. 8 of us went and they put us in essentially a private room with 2 sims, a shuffle board table, and a bar with a bartender. I think we drank every bud lite in the place actually. Besides the sims and shuffleboard there is also a free ping pong table, food, golf instructors, and free rental clubs. The staff was all friendly, patient, and knowledgable as well which is a rare find in NYC. We will be coming back for sure

Rick C.

Yelp
They weren't able or willing to setup the Trackman correctly. I ask for the "apex of the golf shot". Their response - the white line. I repeated my request- the maximum height of the golf shot the apex, still no help. Ask for other basic information, no help. I would not be so upset if they would wear mask when talking to customers. I found the trackman at this location to give you wrong distance. My seven iron carry distance increased ( many shots ) from 160 yards to 175 yards depending on which machine I used. I ask the person to make sure there is no wind or elevation - they just looked at me . The golf balls they give you are extremely poor condition. Maybe you can bring your own golf balls.

Yelp
I can finally make Golf my hobby again, thanks to Five Iron Golf. I love Golf. I also love the City. Sadly, life in the City made it difficult to pursue the hobby like I used to. It's an ordeal to get to any decent golf course if you live in Manhattan, and the Chelsea Piers Golf Club (where you're just hitting balls and not playing golf) is crowded on weekends and out of the way from subways. The lack of accessibility meant I played less and less until it wasn't even a hobby anymore because golfing had become a rare and special occasion. That deprivation came to an end when I discovered Five Iron Golf two months ago. A 3-minute walk from Union Square makes the location as good as it gets in the City. Facilities are spankin' new, air-conditioned, and serve food and alcohol, so it's a great place to bring your friends. The guys there are super-friendly and helpful, and did an amazing job with the space. To date, I haven't missed a weekend at FIG since discovering the place. The simulators are extremely accurate and fun to use. You can play whenever you want regardless of the weather. Being able to actually track my trajectories and stats means I can significantly improve my game because I can experiment with my swing, something much harder to do at daytime in a driving range littered with golf balls. Hearing your clubs smash indoors with such audible, reverberating power is an awesome feeling too. There's hundreds of real-life courses loaded into the software as well. If there's a course you used to frequent back home, you can invoke the nostalgies in the comfort of an air-conditioned room in the City. I probably sound like I prefer virtual golf over real golf, and that's because I do now. Their reservation system means I play when I want, instead of having to wait an hour for a booth to open up. House clubs are in pristine condition, and they even carry graphite shafts, which is a huge plus for me. There's showers on premises, and lockers for members. The food they serve is actually of restaurant quality. Finer details like these sweeten the deal for an already-exceptional package. All in all, whether you're a jaded soul resigned to the inaccessibility of golf in the City, or just a casual golfer looking to hit some balls with friends, Five Iron Golf is a breath of fresh air. Five Iron Golf makes golf in the City fun, efficient, and affordable -- I strongly recommend that you check them out.

Yelp
This was a really cool spot. First time here and simulators etc were top notch (just make sure to put your ball ahead of the tee so it works right). The co-owner was very welcoming and gave us a nice tour when we got there and even gave us an extra half hour. Only negative was that the younger more junior person helping us out wasn't that nice and was a bit condescending toward us but I don't necessarily blame him since was late at night and pretty busy. I would come back for sure and try to have corporate events here. Great spot and great experience. Also great atmosphere for people looking to drink and do something during sporting events (TVs were really good) and sound was on.
