New Austin Food Truck Five O Four Makes Honduran Creole Food in 2024 | Eater Austin

"An upcoming Austin food truck planned to open in fall 2024 by Chef Grace Aguilar will showcase Honduran Creole cuisine that blends her first-generation Honduran roots with the Creole flavors she grew up with in New Orleans. Menu highlights include boudin pastelitos (meat pies using Cajun sausage), baleadas layered with beans and roasted pork, crawfish boils, oyster roasts, and plates featuring coconut, plantain, and other tropical Caribbean flavors. Aguilar intentionally frames the concept as Honduran Creole to emphasize the shared Creole and African diaspora heritage between Honduras and Louisiana. To fund the buildout she launched a GoFundMe seeking $50,000 for a trailer, permits, licenses, and equipment, and has supported the project through scholarships and grants that included a culinary scholarship with an accompanying internship, a bread-making grant for study in France, and a recent award to help buy truck equipment; she also promotes her cooking through videos, culinary history writing, food styling, and an electronic cookbook." - Nadia Chaudhury

So excited 504 is open! The boudin pastelito is so delicious. Can’t wait to try the menu when they expand.

Amazing food with generous portions at a great price, so no excuse not to try the whole menu. Honduran and Creole values run deep from the food to the service. Chef Grace and Zeke are blessing Austin with a gem of a food truck. Highly recommend the baleada - you can't go wrong with either filling. The size and flavors are big. The gumbo is also so, so good. I might need to be banned from purchasing it because it's going to put my A1C levels at risk. They also offer a fantastic plantain bread pudding, with perhaps the best rum sauce I've ever had on a dessert. And they said this is just their first dessert offering... Whatever you do, stop on by and pay them a visit.

Yelp
Finally, Creole food I'm not mad at! Ya girl is located in the back of Long Play Lounge. Go around the side of the building and place your order at the window. From there, go grab yourself a drink and a table. She texts you when your food is ready and you pick up at the same place you ordered. Our wait was kinda long and I'm completely okay with that. She's by herself making your food when you order it so it's worth the wait. LPL is a very relaxed place that has good music and a large vinyl collection so even if the wait is long, it's still a good time. The pastry on the pastelito was perfectly flaky and the boudin filling was the right proportion of meat and rice. The fried chicken thigh was excellent, with a nice thick crust and very juicy meat. The red beans and rice had good flavor and enough meat to satisfy. It tastes great with the cornbread. Pro tip: order a second thigh. You won't regret it. all the flowers for Five O Four

Yelp
The food never disappoints, the gumbo is honestly my favorite buy every time. I always keep an eye out for that dish when it is on the menu. Also the boudin pastelitos are really yummy and are always crispy. Top tear service!

Yelp
Hands down the BEST gumbo in Austin! The dirty bird wings are so juicy and the boudin pastelitos are chefs kiss. Five o Four is a must try!

Yelp
This is the creole spot in Austin, this place right here. I had a shrimp poboy and the garnishes were so refreshing with the deep fried shrimp. A wish the rolls were toasted but it really didnt matter much. Really, best creole food in Austin by a huge margin.

Yelp
Loved the food. It's the window on the side of the bar you order from just FYI. I had the red beans which were great. Along with the fried chicken and boudin pistolettes. (Spelling ?) anyway it was all great.

Yelp
Thank you for providing lunch for our office yesterday at WP Engine! It was incredible and everyone was raving about how tasty everything was. Chef Grace is phenomenal. She uses her food to tell a story. She highlighted the connections between the cultures of creole people around the world, while also nourishing us as we connected with our colleagues! Thank you again!
